HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Miley Cyrus is getting heat again for a provocative lap dance video that surfaced Wednesday on the Web. In the video acquired by TMZ, the 17-year-old teen star gets dirty on the dance floor with producer Adam Shankman at a wrap party last summer for their movie, The Last Song . Miley Cyrus Breaks Free In ‘Can’t Be Tamed’ Video

The title track from her newest album, Can’t Be Tamed, debuted Friday, and on Tuesday night (May 4), E! News premiered the song’s video. In the clip, Miley is trapped in a cage while dressed up like a bird, trashing the museum she’s contained in and newly sexualized now that she’s Disney-free . In an interview with Ryan Seacrest that ran after the video’s debut, Cyrus said the video wasn’t about her new attitude, but about putting a story to the rebellious track. A museum curator introduces “a creature so rare it was believed to be extinct” to a crowd of posh attendees, announcing that “in captivity for the first time, the rarest creature on Earth, Avis Cyrus.” Cue the reveal of Cyrus in a giant cage, dressed in a skimpy black outfit replete with feathers and CGI wings. Someone snaps a photo, and she is startled and shields herself with the wings, causing the guests to become uncomfortable. Then the music starts thumping, and Cyrus and her dancers make their way out of the cage, shattering exhibits as they go. After rolling around in peacock feathers and getting up close and personal with some of her dancers, the video ends with Cyrus back in her cage with the museum empty and trashed. “The reason I loved doing this video is because I wanted it to be something different for a female artist,” Cyrus explained to Seacrest. “It is a sexy video, and you can’t really take that away from it, but it’s not the premise.” She said her friends and fans have been waiting for her to make a move to the next incarnation of Miley Cyrus for a while, and she thinks this is something they will be proud of. Her “Hannah Montana” fans have grown up with her, she said, and this is the first step for all of them toward “growing up.” Her mother, Tish, was on set with her during the video shoot, though she did say she made boyfriend Liam Hemsworth leave the set after 20 minutes so he wouldn’t get distracted by all the “hot girl dancers” also on set. “It’s not a new Miley; it’s just a new part of me,” Cyrus said about the video. Miley Cyrus Music Video: The Transformation is Complete

She’s worn hooker boots and danced on a stripper poll , all while starring as Hannah Montana and acting like an innocent Disney creation. But Miley Cyrus has officially moved on to the next stage of her career. Just call her Britney Spears 2.0 now. The much-hyped music video for Miley’s “Can’t Be Tamed” has been released online, and we understand why sources warned us awhile ago that it would “blow our minds.” As seen below, Cyrus dons a $25,000 corset. She’s also surrounded by scantily-clad cage dancers, while dressed like a peacock and sitting in a giant nest. Seriously. Said Miley about the racy video: “I wanted it to be something different for a female artist… It’s about explaining the song and living the lyrics.” That’s fine, except the lyrics include: Every guy everywhere just gives me mad attention/Like I’m under inspection/ I always get the 10s/‘Cause I’m built like that. So don’t try to pretend the video isn’t about sex, Miles. Check it out and then weigh in with your thoughts: Can’t Be Tamed What’s our take? While THG has often been critical of Miley for sending a bad message to her young fan base, we’re actually fine with this transformation. We simply take issue with artists that act provocatively one moment, and then play naive the next moment. Don’t be a hypocrite. In this case, Cyrus is clearly make a decision to reach a different audience. More power to her. Miley Cyrus has left Hannah Montana behind. In case that wasn’t obvious by the singer’s choice to exit the Disney Channel show this year, Cyrus makes it abundantly clear in her music video for “Can’t Be Tamed.” While the full video won’t be premiere for 24 hours – return to THG tomorrow night after 7 p.m. for its online debut! – E! News has released an image from it. Read the racy lyrics to the single NOW and then prepare for your jaw to drop when you enlarge the following photo. Cheers to The Last Song star Miley Cyrus, whose first cinematic foray out of the Hannah Montana bubble opened yesterday to No. 1. Her two-day head start on Clash of the Titans grossed $5.1 million on 2,673 screens, capitalizing on spring-break crowds and the early fade of How to Train Your Dragon , which trailed Song by more than a half-million dollars in nearly 50 percent more theaters. She has left her mark on pop culture, thanks to her highly successful Disney series “Hannah Montana,” which helped kick off Disney’s latest renaissance and opened doors for girls like Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato. She has also released albums and had box-office smash hits with her Hannah character. With her desire to grow into more mature roles, like the one she plays in “The Last Song,” opening Friday, and her decision to take a break from music after releasing her new album this June, Cyrus is setting herself up to make the difficult leap from child star to adult superstar. The transition hasn’t been without a few controversies. In 2008, racy photos leaked online of the teen star in nothing but a bra and underwear. That scandal was followed by an uproar over her photo spread in Vanity Fair, in which the teen was photographed covered only in a sheet. She apologized for the Vanity Fair photo shoot , saying, “It still hurts when I think about it — but you know what? It doesn’t mean that you can’t move on.” She was under fire again when a photo appeared online of her pulling at the corners of her eyes in a gesture that appeared to mock Asians. Cyrus also found herself embroiled in a few feuds. She got into a YouTube battle with Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato that was later downplayed by all parties involved after Cyrus apologized. She also took aim at Radiohead , whom she threatened to “ruin” after they wouldn’t meet her at the Grammy Awards in 2009. However, it was Jamie Foxx who came under fire for comments he made about the teen star, saying she needed to make a sex tape and do drugs. He apologized , but her dad, Billy Ray, called Foxx’s comments “hurtful.” At the Teen Choice Awards in 2009, Cyrus performed her hit “Party in the U.S.A,” dancing around an ice-cream-cart pole that many said resembled a stripper pole. Just last month, her duet with Bret Michaels, “Nothin’ to Lose,” leaked online, and its suggestive lyrics left some uncomfortable. Perhaps Cyrus’ biggest moment came when she left Twitter behind for good in October. Although it was initially believed she left the site for beau Liam Hemsworth , she later said that she quit the site to have more privacy . “I think that everyone should leave Twitter,” she said. “I think Twitter should just be banned from this universe.” What’s next for Cyrus? With plans to release an album this summer and focus on her movie career , Cyrus and her outspoken nature will certainly continue to turn heads. American Idol viewers received a double live treat last night. The results show, which saw voters send Paige Miles home , also saw a triple teen threat of Miley Cyrus, Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato bringing the house down. For all our criticisms of Miley, you have to give her credit, the girl is a good live vocalist, a true stage presence with a husky, powerful voice beyond her years. Although the writhing and spontaneous convulsions during the chorus of “When I Look at You,” her track from The Last Song? No idea what’s going on there. Perhaps Liam Hemsworth knows a little something about it: When I Look at You Live What did you think of Miley Cyrus on Idol? Did she bring her A-game? Are you psyched for her first huge non-Hannah Montana role, as she focuses on acting? In addition to Miley, new couple and dueling music stars Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato performed “Make a Wave.” They certainly did in real life by coupling up. Welcome to The Hollywood Gossip Week in Review. Below, our staff takes a look back at the past week in celebrity gossip, entertainment news and rumors. Some of the highlights from March 13-19 include … Jesse James has been accused of cheating on Sandra Bullock , who supposedly moved out over the rumors. The woman in question? Michelle McGee , a tattoo model, mother of two, quasi-porn star, and apparent Nazi supporter . Tiger Woods announced a return date to golf (April 8), but it was a slew of Tiger Woods text messages he allegedly sent to porn star mistress Joslyn James that made news. We are talking depraved, violent, messed up stuff. John Edwards’ mistress, Rielle Hunter , posed for some half-naked GQ pictures. She later said she was ” repulsed ” by those same half-nude GQ pics. Moron. Looks like marriage trouble for Sandra Bullock and Jesse James. Trouble by the name of Michelle “Bombshell” McGee, a tattoo model, porn star and James’ alleged mistress. Heidi Montag briefly hired some psychic “healer” manager nut. Omer Bhatti claims to be the parent of Michael Jackson’s kids. Crazy Jewish extremists want Bar Refaeli to dump Leo ASAP . Adam Lambert appearance of the week: Glamming up Tokyo. Awkward Ke$ha comment of the week: Breast-feeding Bieber. Siobhan Magnus ruled American Idol; Lacey Brown got booted. Miley Cyrus hates her critics … and the Internet … and teen girls, and country music , and Hannah Montana, and Twitter, and celebrity gossip, and … Britney Spears and Jason Trawick totally broke up … or are just on and off … or are totally still together , putting on a united front. Who knows anymore! These beauties are both back on the market! Couple news: Jennifer Love Hewitt nixed the Jamie Kennedy phase; Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes split; David Schwimmer and Zoe Buckman are engaged; And, like, OMG, Demi Lovato is dating Joe Jonas !
