‘Harry Potter’ Star Freddie Stroma Says Daniel Radcliffe Welcomed Him Into ‘Family’

Actor also tells MTV News he was ‘amazed’ seeing Radcliffe on Broadway. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Freddie Stroma Photo: MTV News “Insanely overwhelming. Really, really strange.” That’s how “Harry Potter” star Freddie Stroma described what he was feeling as he walked the red carpet during the New York premiere of “Half-Blood Prince” in the summer of 2009. Almost two years later, not much has changed for the self-deprecating Brit, who stopped to chat with MTV News at the hectic premiere for the “Deathly Hallows, Part 1” DVD and said, above the roar of the fans, “I can’t get used to this. It’s just bizarre.” To be fair, Stroma hasn’t had as much practice as some of his co-stars, as he only joined the franchise (as the young, cocksure wizard Cormac McLaggen) for the sixth film. Yet once he signed on, the cast welcomed him into the fold. “When I first met Dan [Radcliffe], I came in and I was just doing a costume check,” Stroma said. “He introduced himself to me and said, ‘Hi, Freddie, how’s it going?’ And then two weeks later, he came up to me again and remembered my name. He meets hundreds of people every day, so that’s amazing. You feel like you’re coming into a family.” And like any good family, the cast is there to support one another in non-“Potter” matters. While he was in New York, Stroma caught a production of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” the Broadway musical in which Radcliffe currently stars. “Really good!” he said of the show. “Dan can dance, sing and act — who knew? I didn’t know. I was just amazed. And it was funny. It’s a funny show. Choreography is amazing as well.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Jamie Campbell Bower ‘Kind Of Scared’ Of ‘Harry Potter’ Exhibit

‘Camelot’ star says being part of New York’s ‘Harry Potter: The Exhibition’ is ‘a bit weird.’ By Jocelyn Vena Jamie Campbell Bower Photo: MTV News In New York City, fans can check out “Harry Potter: The Exhibition” at the Discovery Times Square building. But, don’t expect “Potter” star Jamie Campbell Bower to stop by anytime soon: He said the whole thing is a bit weird for him. “Unfortunately, I can’t see it,” he explained to MTV News when he stopped by to talk about his new Starz series, “Camelot.” On his way out of town post-interview, he shared another reason why he wasn’t likely to ever check the exhibit: “I’m kind of scared of those kinds of things.” Bower explained that there’s something a bit jarring about having a museum-type exhibit dedicated to a piece of work you’ve done. It also means that in the hearts and minds of “Potter” fans, he’ll never age past 20. “It’s a bit weird. When you do a film or whatever, you’re immortalized, I suppose, but in the job that you’re doing,” he said. “And if you take that away and put it in a different [world] — for example, that [exhibit] or the Wizarding World that they have in Orlando (Florida) — it’s scary. We’ll be young forever.” With the franchise coming to an end with “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” this July, Bower admitted that it’s a bit bittersweet saying goodbye. “I was only on set for a very short period of time, and I only play a very small role in the film,” he explained. “I suppose, just for me personally, being able to be involved in something that is taking place in England for 10 years and something that has given people jobs and a great boost to the British film industry, that was a real honor.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Harry Potter” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .

‘Harry Potter’ Finale Shot Four Different Endings For Malfoy Family

‘With Narcissa, we actually filmed four different endings and I filmed three different battles,’ actress Helen McCrory tells us. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Helen McCrory Photo: Joe Kohen/ WireImage Take it from actress Bonnie Wright: The ending of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2″ is, as she bluntly put it during our live-stream event on Monday, ” really weird .” What else would you expect from a flash-forward finale that has the Hogwarts kids caked in prosthetics to make them look as if they’re approaching their 40s? But it seems that Wright and her co-stars are not the only ones who had an odd experience shooting their final scenes in the blockbuster franchise. According to Helen McCrory, the actors who play the Malfoy family also were up to some surprising stuff. “It’s quite strange, because we haven’t seen the last film,” said McCrory, who plays Narcissa Malfoy, mother of Draco (Tom Felton). “For instance, with Narcissa, we actually filmed four different endings and I filmed three different battles.” In the final book, Narcissa lies about the death of Harry Potter in an effort to locate her son, a fib that results in the Malfoy family avoiding imprisonment after Voldemort’s death. That much we know. What we don’t know is how exactly these various endings and battles will play out and bring the Malfoys’ story to a conclusion onscreen. Not even McCrory herself is sure, nor was she keen to spill the beans on the red carpet with months still to go before the film’s July release date. “I don’t know which ones the three Davids are going to pick,” she said, referring to director David Yates and producers David Heyman and David Baron. “We haven’t final full stop onto that.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘Harry Potter’ Epilogue Was ‘Really Weird,’ Bonnie Wright Says

‘Being a mother with three children suddenly when you’re young is quite a big [change],’ she tells MTV News at DVD premiere. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Bonnie Wright attends the opening of Harry Potter: The Exhibiton in New York City Photo: Getty Images For the most devoted “Harry Potter” fans out there, the countdown has already begun in anticipation of the final film release, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” Over the weekend, we got a sneak peek at Harry Potter: The Exhibition , as well as a few exclusive clips from the “Deathly Hallows, Part 1” DVD/Blu-ray. At the DVD premiere, we asked actress Bonnie Wright about the experience filming the franchise’s highly anticipated “epilogue” sequence , in which all the characters appear as themselves, only 19 years in the future. “It was really weird,” Wright said of seeing herself in makeup made to look like a woman in her 30s. “People said, ‘Don’t worry, you look good for 35!’ ” Wright said the experience was a lot of fun, mostly because she had to embody a completely new aspect of her character, Ginny Weasley-Potter. “Being a mother with three children suddenly when you’re young is quite a big [change],” she said. “It’s strange, because obviously [when] I started, my first scene ever filmed was on the train platform 9 3/4, and then we came back to shoot some more before Christmas, and it was back at platform 9 3/4, so I finished, and it was like this amazing cycle.” Regarding the scenes she’s most looking forward to seeing in the final film, Wright said she’s pumped to see the final battle. “I think I’m mainly looking forward to the epic battle that is to come,” she said. “See[ing] the power of good triumph over evil is going to be satisfying.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Harry Potter: The Exhibition — We Take You Inside!

Discovery Times Square show opening Tuesday includes ‘authentic’ props, costumes and sets from all eight franchise movies. By Eric Ditzian Fans attend “Harry Potter: The Exhibition” Photo: Mike Coppola/ Getty Alas, all of you muggles out there will never have a chance to step inside Hogwarts, to suit up for a magical Quidditch match, or to sit down for a chat in Hagrid’s Hut. But can come pretty close, thanks to Harry Potter: The Exhibition. Housed at the Discovery Times Square building in New York City from April 5 through September 5, the exhibit showcases props, costumes and sets from all eight franchise movies, from 2001’s “Sorcerer’s Stone” up through the part two of “Deathly Hallows,” which hits theaters this summer. “When we first met with the filmmakers, we wanted to make sure everything was as authentic as possible,” Eddie Newquist, an exhibition creator, told MTV News. “We decided to create an experience where you felt like you were going into Hogwarts. We also wanted to create an experience where you could get very close to a lot of the special costumes and things that maybe go by very quickly in the films but really have a lot of significant meaning.” A few days before Monday’s (April 4) DVD premiere of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1,” MTV News got a peek at what the exhibit is all about. It begins as attendees enter Hogwarts and pass through the lobby of moving portraits. From there, it’s on to the Gryffindor common room, the dormitories, the classrooms and Hagrid’s Hut, before heading out to a Quidditch pitch for a chance to toss a quaffle. Things then take a darker turn, taking folks through the dragon-filled Forbidden Forest and into a confrontation with Voldemort and the Death Eaters. At every turn, visitors will see actual props, costumes and other elements from the films — from Harry’s glasses to Godric Gryffindor’s sword to a hands-on opportunity to pull a young Mandrake from its pot. “It’s a great way to celebrate the end of this amazing, epic series,” Newquist said. “But it’s also a way to pay a bit of homage to the artistry and craftsmanship that’s gone into creating it.” Will you check out the “Harry Potter” exhibit in New York City?
