iPad: Apple’s Slate Computer

The iPad is a portable slate computer with a touch-sensitive screen and has no keyboard. Other companies like HP are working on slate computers, which are very useful for reading and watching videos. However, the Amazon Kindle has an easy-on-the-eyes-display. Just like these amazing gadgets, some people still figure out whether they still need a new touch-screen computer from Apple. Here are some answers to the common questions about the iPad, which is an Apple’s much-awaited “slate” computer. 1. What is the difference of an iPad from a laptop? The Apple iPad belongs to the slate or tablet category of portable personal computers however it is different from laptop because it doesn’t have a hardware keyboard. iPad has a touch-sensitive screen to type and to navigate the files and photos. 2. What is the difference of an iPad from an e-reader? The iPad serves like an e-reader and a personal computer as well, but there are some remarkable differences between the two. First, the iPad has a color display while the Kindle is only black-and-white. Second, the iPad displays books horizontally, with two pages showing, or it could be viewed vertically, zooming in on a single page of text; while the Kindle only works in vertical mode. Third is the access of books from different online bookstore. iPad users can purchase books from iBookstore, Apple’s new digital bookstore, which supports an open e-book format called ePub; while Kindle users are required to buy books from Amazon.com 3. If there’s no keyboard, how can you type on the iPad? The iPad’s keyboard is a graphic that pops up on the device’s touch-sensitive screen. The iPad keyboard is just about the same size as the one on the desktop. 4. What does iPad do best? The iPad is appropriately designed for providing various types of media such as reading books, browsing the Web and watching videos, and a gaming device too. Although it doesn’t have a DVD player, the user can download videos from Apple, or even stream from the Web. 5. What are the physical features of iPad? Stewart says she had a difficult time at school because her peers were mean to her. “I’m glad I could do those films and I was glad to leave school,” she said. “I couldn’t relate to kids my own age. Oscar Nominee Gabourey Sidibe To Host Saturday Night Live

broadwayworld Saturday Night Live episode this April 24 will be hosted by an Oscar-nominee Gabourey Sidibe which will feature MGMT as the musical guest. Sidibe is given the honor to host the show.  She has been nominated for a number of awards for her acclaimed turn as the title character in “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire.” Sidibe is also a cast in the new Showtime series “The Big C” which is about a woman fighting with cancer and trying to find humor in the experience. She’ll star in the series with Oscar nominee Laura Linney and Oliver Platt. She also stars in “Yelling to the Sky,” which is due out later this year. Sidibe may have found fame in Hollywood, but the New York native’s acting skills are self-taught. In an interview with MTV News last summer, she explained, “I don’t have any formal training [on] how to be an actress. Toyota Sales Skyrocket

Although many had been shaken by Toyota’s mass safety recalls, extensive discounts had helped win back Toyota’s customers and made Toyota’s U.S. sales rebound in March. The Japanese carmaker saw its US sales increase to 40.7 percent last month as compared to last year. Ford had an increase of 39.8 % while General Motors had 20.6%. However, Chrysler had a decrease of 8.3%. Toyota has had to recall about more than eight million cars around the world because of the problems regarding with its accelerator pedals and brakes. Toyota has introduced huge price cuts in the U.S. The huge success in March only shows that customers somehow continue their confidence and trust in the safety and reliability of Toyota’s vehicles. Nathan Sawaya, a lawyer in New York, has given up legal matters, in which he has already been successful, to build himself a new life as a Lego artist. In 2001, he quit his job as a corporate lawyer. Sawaya, a 36-year-old, is now an artist who builds custom three-dimensional models and large-scale mosaic from Lego toy bricks. He has his unique way of building each bricks into a beautiful sculpture. In 2004, he won a nationwide search for a professional Lego Master Model Builder. He has opened his own art studio in New York and is officially recognized by The Lego Group as a Lego Certified Professional. In 2007, he had his first exhibit in Spring at the Lancaster Museum of Art. “The Art of the Brick” is the first major museum exhibition in the U.S. that focuses solely on the use of Lego building blocks as an art channel.
