Following his second procedure of the last two years to remove a growth from his face, Bruce Jenner has issued a statement in regard to his health. Speaking to E! News, the First Father of Reality Television acknowledged he’s suffering from “basal cell carcinoma” and underwent “Mohs surgery” this week to take care of the issue. Bruce Jenner Skin Cancer Report “I have been struggling with this for several years and appreciate all of the support and prayers while I continue to fight the battle against skin cancer,” Jenner said, adding a life lesson and passing along advice: “This has taught me to be extra vigilant when out in the sun and I encourage others to get regular checkups and always wear sunscreen.” Well put, BJ. Let’s hope all fans take note and let’s also hope daughter Kim Kardashian is serious about getting out of the public eye.

The Bachelor star Gia Allemand, who took her own life last month, often suffered major mood swings that her mother believes were caused by one major factor: Her menstrual cycle. A grieving Donna Micheletti told Dr. Phil Tuesday that daughter Gia’s intense PMS clouded her thinking and likely contributed to her suicide attempt. “She was not depressed. Sometimes, when it was that time of the month, she would get insecure and go to a dark spot, and feel like nobody cared,” Micheletti said. “She just snowballed.” Donna, who lives in New York, she spoke to her in New Orleans the night of Gia Allemand’s suicide attempt and booked her a flight to visit the next day. “I’m not happy. I can’t go on with this anymore,” Allemand told her. “At that point, that day, with how she felt with her menstrual cycle, she could not see clearly,” Micheletti said. “I was trying to talk to her, trying to be careful what I say.” “I didn’t want to upset her more, and I was nervous.” She said Allemand’s menstrual cycle was so powerful, it could change her demeanor “like night and day … it would come out of nowhere,” Micheletti said. “All of a sudden something would click in there, and she would say, ‘This isn’t right. He doesn’t love me. He’s not this. He’s not that.'” “He” would be Ryan Anderson , her NBA player beau. Gia Allemand Passes Away According to New Orleans cops, Allemand hanged herself within two hours of her boyfriend claiming he didn’t love her anymore and trying to initiate a breakup. The gorgeous model left a suicide note on her dining room table that read, “Mom gets everything,” and wrapped a vacuum cleaner cord around her neck. One end of the cord was found tied to the handrail on the second floor. The other end was still attached to the heavy vacuum found at the bottom of the stairs. Allemand likely on the phone with her helpless mother at the time. “I heard her last breath,” Micheletti told Dr. Phil. “I thought it was just mumbling. I couldn’t understand her. It was incoherent. I didn’t know what it was until after the fact.”

Schools in 19 states are weighing students and sending reports to their parents with their body mass index (BMI) and other measurements, reports say. Kids have started calling the reports “fat letters.” Fat Letters Many families and health experts have started pushing back against the reports -slash-fat letters, arguing they could damage the children’s self-esteem. Proponents say the practice is actually an effective progress report and a tool for establishing whether a student is healthy or unhealthy physically. A person’s BMI is calculated by dividing their weight by the square of their height, then applied to their age and gender and measured against peers. BMI is the primary measurement used to determine if a person is considered overweight and obese, a condition these 19 states are trying to reduce. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than one-third of children and adolescents are considered overweight or obese. These children are believed to at increased risk for a variety of health problems, including asthma, sleep apnea, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. None of which are good, obviously, but is it really a school’s place to call attention to it in this manner, evaluating BMI alongside students’ academic skills? Fat letters: Right or wrong? Right! Kate Bosworth and Michael Polish exchanged vows to become husband and wife in an intimate ceremony in Philipsburg, Montana on Saturday, August 31. The actress, 30, and film director Polish, 42, said “I do” in front of about 50-75 of their closest friends and family members at The Ranch at Rock Creek. The couple, who met on the set of 2011 film Big Sur, knew from the get-go that their relationship would be a lasting one, Bosworth told InStyle UK . “I never even dated my husband-to-be,” she said. “He said to me after a few weeks, before we were even together, ‘I’m going to marry you.’ He just knew.” Looks like he did indeed. Michael Polish proposed to Bosworth in August 2012 on a trip to South Korea and they made it official a year later. Congrats to the newlyweds!

Amanda Bynes is picking up right where she left off. On Twitter, that is. Yesterday, the hospitalized 27-year-old actress tweeted, “I love Drake.” It was her first Tweet since July 19, when she said “Drake is gorgeous.” The singular Tweet is still live and was sent from her official account. The brief, unexpected return to Twitter came one day after her doctors at UCLA Medical Center asked for and were granted an extended long-term hold . Amanda Bynes was hospitalized under an involuntary 5150 psychiatric hold back on July 22, and has been receiving mental health treatment ever since. Before that, Tweeting about Drake had been one of her favorite pastimes. The former child star made headlines March 21 when she wrote, ” I want Drake to murder my vagina ,” and talked about him countless other times. Drake never responded to the Tweets, though he is aware of them. “I don’t even know who is doing that or what that’s about,” the rapper told the August issue of XXL . “If that is her, I guess it’s a little weird and disturbing.” “It’s obviously a behavioral pattern that is way bigger than me.” Few would argue with that. Doctors say Bynes may need long-term hospitalization to treat her severe mental illness , though it’s unclear how long. Some reports have suggested up to a year at UCLA or a related facility, while others say she could move in with her mom in a month or two of she improves. We wish her the best in any case.

Pope Francis has once again broken from tradition. The religious figure, who shocked many last month when he said he would not pass judgment on homosexuals , posed this week for what many consider to be the first-ever pontiff selfie.
