Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri is brushing off the deluge of racist Tweets that followed her win last night, while denying that she bashed her predecessor. Many of the tweets were attacks on the fact that Nina, 24, is the first woman of Indian-American descent to win the pageant and wear the crown. She was referred to as “the Arab,” or “the terrorist,” or “Miss 7-11” by some, with commenters pointing out “This is America, not India” and so forth. If it’s bothering her at all, Nina Davuluri isn’t showing it. “I have to rise above that,” said the former Miss New York and native of Syracuse, N.Y. “I always viewed myself as first and foremost American.” “I’m so happy this organization has embraced diversity,” she said. “I’m thankful there are children watching at home who can finally relate to a new Miss America.” Meanwhile, Davuluri, 24, addressed a scandalous report that surfaced several days before Sunday night’s pageant in a sitdown with Good Morning America . According to Page Six , Nina was said to have been secretly recorded calling Mallory Hagan “fat as f–k” before the pageant. Hagan is Miss America 2013. At the time, she said the remarks were made by “people in my hotel room” and MIss America organizers said there was “no validity” to the report. “Oh my gosh,” said Davuluri on Monday, addressing the controversy head-on. “It was such an unfortunate situation. I never made those comments.” “I called Mallory and have apologized to her because it was the right thing to do. And we worked it out. She’s been an incredible resource throughout this journey.” She noted that she hugged Mallory Hagan after winning Miss America 2014 . “And I’m just so thankful to have her be a part of this,” Davuluri said. Nina said she was most proud of her talent portion of the show: “It’s the first time Bollywood has ever been performed on the Miss America stage and it’s such an honor for myself, my family and the Indian community, as well.” Nina graduated in 2012 from the University of Michigan with a degree in Brain Behavior and Cognitive Science. She plans to pursue career as a physician. A self-proclaimed geek, in Nina’s official Miss New York bio video, she jokes she’s “kind of a nerd,” adding, “I love Star Wars, Star Trek and anything sci-fi.” Congratulations to the beautiful, talented and smart Miss America!

With multiple outlets questioning the actor’s commitment – either by sexting January Jones and/or making out with a mystery woman in Toronto – the breakup was “Miley’s decision,” a source says. Moritz Erhardt, a 21-year-old intern for Bank of America has died after working 72 hours straight at the corporation’s London office, reports indicate. Bank of America Intern Dies After 72-Hour Shift For three days, he finished his workday at 6 a.m., then just kept working. The cause of death is unknown, and British police are not treating it as suspicious. Is this insane-sounding work “schedule” abnormal for his line of work? An unnamed fellow intern tells The Independent: “We all work long hours but the guys working regularly until 3 or 4 am are those in investment banking.” “You’re only doing it for up to 10 weeks so there’s a general acceptance of it.” “People working in markets will have to be in at 6 a.m. but not stay as late so what time you can leave the office depends on your division.” “I see many people wandering around, blurry-eyed and drinking caffeine to get through but people don’t complain because the potential rewards are so great.” “We’re competing for some very well paid jobs.” Only in this case, the competition appears to have been akin to The Hunger Games . While brother Liam Hemsworth is off playing Gale in Catching Fire , Chris Hemsworth is showing off his abs again in this new Rush trailer. Rush Trailer Official Even though the Rush posters don’t give off a very strong “you need to see this movie” vibe, the trailer does exactly that. It looks to be an interesting story, a little Ricky Bobby mixed with Days of Thunder perhaps? Ron Howard has done amazingly well with true stories in the past and just from what little we’ve seen, it looks like a trend that will be sticking around. Rush opens in theaters on September 27th.

Chris Brown, whose new album embodies a “classic essence of R&B and soul with the new age of music now,” will collaborate with Aaliyah on his next single. Wonder how she would feel about that if she were alive. “They Don’t Know” contains previously unheard vocals from the late singer, and Brown shot a music video for the song in Los Angeles last weekend. “I shot it in the hood. I went to 60th Street and Cedar Block,” Brown said. “[I’m] bringing worlds together and trying to uplift the poverty side of the community and show them where I’m from. I’m from Virginia, but everybody comes from a broken home or being broke.” “I remember when I was.” “They Don’t Know” will be on CB’s upcoming album, X , due out July 16. It’ll feature guests like Nicki Minaj and Kendrick Lamar, among others. “Making X , I found out who I am,” Brown said in March. “This album has a lot of substance, from the subject matter and the situations to how it deals with love.” “It’s really derived from personal experiences,” the ex-boyfriend of Rihanna and rival of Drake said. “Then again, I always like mixing reality with art.” Speaking of Aaliyah and Drake , the Canadian rapper is working on his own Aaliyah album and has already posted a track called “Enough Said.” Aaliyah died in a 2001 plane crash in the Bahamas.
