Gal Gadot Cast as Wonder Woman in Man of Steel Sequel

It will be titled Batman Vs. Superman, but another super hero may still the blockbuster show. Gal Gadot, an Israeli actress best known for appearing in the Fast and Furious franchise, has been cast as Wonder Woman in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel. She will take on the iconic role opposite Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill (The Sexiest Man of 2013 ) as Superman. “Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe,” said director Zack Snyder in a statement. “Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.” Gadot, 28, spent two years in the army and competed in the 2004 Miss Universe pageant as Miss Israel. She is the mother of a young daughter, was good friends with the late Paul Walker and responded to this news with a posting on Facebook that reads: “I can’t express how happy and exited I am to be part of this amazing project!” What do you think of her casting as Wonder Woman? U.K.’s Glamour has decided that the latest Man of Steel, Henry Cavill , is the Sexiest Man of 2013. Yeah, we’re going to have to go ahead and agree with them. Henry’s a hottie! Pattinson fell this year to number 2 after holding the title for the past four years . Christian Bale is out. So… who might be in? Following the monumental announcement at Comic-Con that the upcoming Man of Steel sequel will feature both Superman AND Batman, speculation is running wild over which actor will portray the Caped Crusader. Jensen Ackles has shown interest. Tyler Hoechlin will reportedly read for the role. But The Hollywood Reporter claims the early list of contenders has been narrowed to six. Ian Somerhalder and Garrett Hedlund: OUT of Fifty Shades of Grey Running

It’s still to be determined who will play Christian Grey in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey movie, but it’s reportedly become clear who will not be cast: Ian Somerhalder and Garrett Hedlund are both out of the running, according to insiders, along with Stephen Amell , narrowing the list of candidates. Hedlund, 28, was reportedly approached about playing the S&M-obsessed lead in the film version of E.L. James’ erotic novel, but turned it down . “Doing a possible trilogy was too big a commitment, and producers wouldn’t let him do just one film,” says the source of Kirsten Dunst’s boyfriend. Ian Somerhalder, 34, is out too – though he openly coveted the part. The “phenomenal opportunity” he lobbied for won’t be his for the taking. A source says “E.L. said at a Comic-Con party [that] the part won’t go to Ian.” Both The Vampire Diaries star and Garrett Hedlund have been popular picks in the online fantasy casting game that’s gone on for a year, but alas. The only major casting decision for the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, so far, has been the director. James confirmed that Sam Taylor-Johnson will helm the film. As for the two leads, they’re still TBA, and until we have official confirmation, everything is conjecture. What we’re saying is the Man of Steel hunk is dating Kaley Cuoco. “They are totally hot for each other,” a pal says of the British actor and The Big Bang Theory beauty, 27, who are keeping the relationship on the DL for now. Kaley did drop a major hint to her 1.4 million Twitter followers June 14. Tweeting a photo of herself gazing at a Man of Steel poster, she urged her fans to see the mega-successful Superman reboot, calling it “fantastic in every way.” For his part, a source of Cavill: “He’s excited to be dating her!” One would hope, as he is now the enemy of 20 million nerds.
