Taylor Swift is getting into the meme craze. And the online cat craze as well. The singer Tweeted a photo of her kitten this week, including with the shot of Meredith and a message that reads: “USE YOUR STOMACH AS A PILLOW.” “Found her sleeping like this,” Swift wrote. “No idea how she didn’t suffocate on her own fur.” The pet’s full moniker is Meredith Grey and, yes, she’s named after Ellen Pompeo’s Grey’s Anatomy character. Will this meme grow as viral as McKayla Maroney not being impressed by things or as popular as Clint Eastwood and his Eastwooding ? Probably not. But it’s very cute!
British director Joe Wright has emerged as a favorite to direct the wildly anticipated movie adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, reports indicate. Gus Van Sant has reportedly been angling for the job, as well, so who knows, but Wright, 40, has ties with both Universal and Focus Features. The director has helmed Anna Karenina, Hanna, Pride and Atonement , which features some major heat. The man can film a sex scene, people! As for who he’d be filming, should he in fact land this major directorial role? That remains to be seen, but the speculation is off the charts as always. Who should play Christian and Ana? Superman and General Zod unleash their best tough-guy stares on separate Man of Steel collector covers for the UK’s Empire magazine this week, and, I’m calling it, Zod wins. All that screen time playing hard-asses ( Premium Rush ) and nut jobs ( Revolutionary Road ) has molded Michael Shannon’s mug into an incredibly effective billboard for threat and danger. He looks pissed and lethal here, And that gives him the slight edge in this Kryptonian staring contest. I realize Superman is supposed to be — at least initially — a reluctant hero in Zack Snyder’s re-boot of the DC Comics franchise, but perhaps Henry Cavill’s handlers should consult with a real-life Derek Zoolander about devising a fresh fierce look for any media opportunities that will ensue between now and the movie’s U.S. release on Jun 14.
The first trailer for Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill as Superman, has arrived. Expect a darker, edgier and more somber Clark Kent in 2013. Dark Knight style. Man of Steel Trailer In the trailer, we see Clark as a young boy, when he begins to notice he’s not like the other kiddos in Smallville. We then flash forward to Cavill as the Man of Steel . The effects, such as Kent breaking the sound barrier in flight, appear to be top-notch. Michael Shannon’s character, rumored to be General Zod, is also prominent. With the potentially huge success of Man of Steel , Warner Bros. hopes to launch The Justice League . DC’s band of heroes are set to hit the big screen in 2015. What do you think of the trailer?

Today Warner Bros. released the first teaser for 2013’s superhero reboot Man of Steel , an elegiac glimpse of Clark Kent ( Henry Cavill ), as a man and a boy, accompanied by memories of childhood paternal advice telling him of his destiny as Earth’s savior. But Clark/Superman has two dads — biological Kryptonian pop Jor-El (Russell Crowe) and adoptive farmer pa Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), giving fans a neat double tease: One teaser, two voice-overs. From the looks of things in the Zack Snyder-directed, Christopher Nolan -produced Man of Steel , it appears that Clark Kent is taking some “me” time off from his superhero calling to moonlight as a deep sea fisherman, Deadliest Catch -style. That vocation should give him time to ponder the childhood advice gleaned from his two dads, one who tells him he’s destined to save humanity, another who tells him that destiny is his choice to make. “You will give the people an ideal to strive towards. They’ll raise behind you. They will stumble. They will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun.
