I need to say something to them.” We’re sure there was more to it than that, but we do know that Shaq was notorious for not working out as much as he should and even waiting until the season started to have surgery. Even though the man has four rings, he could have done much better. Still, is Kobe right to be airing his old teammate out after they’d supposedly buried the hatchet five years ago? No more “running” for Carl Lewis A federal appeals panel took nine-time Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis off a New Jersey state Senate ballot yesterday, finding he does not meet the state’s four-year residency requirement after all. The ruling came nine days after the same three-judge panel from the 3rd US Circuit Court of Appeals said Lewis should be on the ballot. The issue, which turned out more complex than it seemed, was whether Lewis would satisfy a requirement that state senators live in the state four years before they take office. Lewis, 50, grew up in Willingboro, NJ, went to college in Texas and settled in California. In 1984, he won four gold medals in track and field at the Olympic in LA. He would add five more Olympic golds over the next 12 years. He bought homes in New Jersey in 2005 and 2007 and began working as a volunteer track coach at Willingboro HS. Tameka “Tiny” Cottle tells us, “It’s important that the world know how unfair he’s being treated on such minor charges … all because he’s T.I.” According to Tiny, T.I.’s the victim of a vicious double standard — “There are way more dangerous and carefree [celebrities] that get slapped on the wrist and sent on their way.” Tiny adds, “Our family needs [him] … and because of someone’s personal vendetta against him, we have to watch our kids’ sad faces everyday when he still doesn’t show up at home.” T.I. — who was hauled back to prison last week on his way to a halfway house — is scheduled for release in a few weeks. Current and former residents at a luxury building in Philadelphia partly owned by hip-hop star Jay-Z say the music mogul’s legal team has been relentlessly harassing them to leave until they give up and vacate the premises, FoxNews.com has learned. “I’m scared of Jay-Z,” says a tenant of 603 North American Street, who because of what she claims are safety fears does not want to be named. “I’ve endured endless harassment from his team of lawyers, and I can’t take it anymore. I don’t know when this drama is going to end.” The 24-unit condominium complex was purchased by SCC North American Realty, LLC, in January of 2009. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, SCC North American Realty, LLC, is partially owned by Shawn Carter, otherwise known as Jay-Z. “The whole thing has been so unsettling,” former tenant Liza Tedeschi tells FoxNews.com exclusively. “I’ve been in tears over this.” Tedeschi claims Jay-Z’s legal team has been trying to evict tenants at his four-year-old building.

Tea Party leader Sen. Jim DeMint on Sunday dismissed President Barack Obama’s jobs speech four days ahead of its scheduled delivery. “I’m, frankly, very tired of speeches. I don’t want to be disrespectful to the president, but what I want to see is something in writing,” the South Carolina Republican told ABC’s “This Week.” “If he’ll send a written proposal, I’ll give it every chance. But I’m not interested in his speech right now.” Obama’s address to a joint session of Congress, in which he will shift his attention to job creation, is anticipated to be one of the most important speeches of his presidency. But Republicans are less than eager to hear it. House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) rejected Obama’s request to deliver the speech Wednesday, citing scheduling issues, and insisted he come Thursday instead. Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.), an outspoken House freshman, announced that he is skipping Obama’s speech altogether. DeMint’s resistance to Obama’s jobs plan goes so far as to include opposition to tax cuts and business tax credits, a remarkable turnaround for a political party that has for decades pushed for exactly that. “The things that have been leaking out of the White House, none of them are like what I’ve been hearing from businesses all over the country,” DeMint said. “You know, extending unemployment [insurance], cutting payroll taxes, offering tax credits when you hire someone, I haven’t heard one business say things like this.” Rather, DeMint argued, business want the government to oppose unions and eliminate regulations, which he said would create “certainty.” “What they want is some certainty. They want the regulators off their back. They want the National Labor Relations Board to stop pushing the union agenda and try to help companies that create jobs. So I don’t think the president is going to come out with things that are really going to create jobs,” DeMint said. Looks like Shelby “Swirlin” Steele has a major problem with Barack Obama . The popular black scholar has decided to “go in” on the President stating that he lacks character and experience: President Obama is destroying the country. Some say this destructiveness is intended; most say it is inadvertent, an outgrowth of inexperience, ideological wrong-headedness and an oddly undefined character. Indeed, on the matter of Mr. Obama’s character, today’s left now sounds like the right of three years ago. They have begun to see through the man and are surprised at how little is there. Yet there is something more than inexperience or lack of character that defines this presidency: Mr. Obama came of age in a bubble of post-’60s liberalism that conditioned him to be an adversary of American exceptionalism. In this liberalism America’s exceptional status in the world follows from a bargain with the devil—an indulgence in militarism, racism, sexism, corporate greed, and environmental disregard as the means to a broad economic, military, and even cultural supremacy in the world. And therefore America’s greatness is as much the fruit of evil as of a devotion to freedom. Mr. Obama did not explicitly run on an anti-exceptionalism platform. Yet once he was elected it became clear that his idea of how and where to apply presidential power was shaped precisely by this brand of liberalism. There was his devotion to big government, his passion for redistribution, and his scolding and scapegoating of Wall Street—as if his mandate was somehow to overcome, or at least subdue, American capitalism itself. Anti-exceptionalism has clearly shaped his “leading from behind” profile abroad—an offer of self-effacement to offset the presumed American evil of swaggering cowboyism. Once in office his “hope and change” campaign slogan came to look like the “hope” of overcoming American exceptionalism and “change” away from it. As a president, Barack Obama has been a force for mediocrity. He has banked more on the hopeless interventions of government than on the exceptionalism of the people. His greatest weakness as a president is a limp confidence in his countrymen. He is afraid to ask difficult things of them. Like me, he is black, and it was the government that in part saved us from the ignorances of the people. So the concept of the exceptionalism—the genius for freedom—of the American people may still be a stretch for him. But in fact he was elected to make that stretch.
