Anthony Bourdain Goes Off on American Airlines, Wet Deuce-Based Delay

Anthony Bourdain is unafraid to speak his mind. Sometimes, the television star goes off on Paula Dean for being a hypocrite; and other times the target of his vitriol is American Airlines for delaying a flight because a passenger pooped on board. Wait… what?!? Bourdain made news this week when he Tweeted about his flight from Miami to Grand Cayman, at first confounded over what kind of “special situation” was responsible for such a delayed take-off. But the food lover then apparently learned the truth and informed followers: “Latest news is it took #AA two hours to admit [that] a passenger dropped a wet deuce on a seat. Need to change planes.” That happens, we suppose. Bourdain proceeded to tell fellow chef Andrew Zimmerman that he was “thinking about paying it forward. Especially after that airport panini,” with the hilarious/disgusting back-and-forth concluding when Virgin Airlines got involved: “We feel your pain @Bourdain,” American’s rival Tweeted. “The combo of a dropped deuce & AA service gives flying a bad name. Come w/ us next time!” Ah, Twitter. Who says nothing productive gets accomplished on there?

Instagram Terms of Use, Policy Changes Spark Revolt

A slew of recently announced changes to Instagram’s terms and conditions have sent celebrities and regular folks alike running for the virtual exits. Instagram, which was bought by Facebook earlier this year, is under heavy scrutiny for its new usage agreement … in which users sign over everything. Basically, big bad corporate parent Facebook is co-opting all Instagram’s content … so many pantsless Rihanna photos will soon be company property. The user soon must agree, by posting photos on Instagram: “That a business or other entity may pay us to display your username, likeness, photos (along with any associated metadata), and/or actions you take, in connection with any paid or sponsored content or promotions, without any compensation to you.” This policy shift has left tons of users PISSED. White Collar star Tiffani Thiessen, for one: “Really sad to have to end my luv 4 @instagram. Will be deleting my account due 2 their ridiculous new terms.” DWTS’ Cheryl Burke, for two: “Can’t believe Instagrams new policy! They r allowed 2 use ALL of ur images in advertising. Will be erasing my account shortly.” The new terms of use do not go into effect until January 16; Instagram fans have until then to either delete their accounts or sign their photos away. In related news … you gotta see this hilarious Instagram Nickelback parody .

Car Talk to End After 35 Years as Tom and Ray Magliozzi Retire

Tom and Ray Magliozzi, the brothers and popular hosts of Car Talk on National Public Radio, are putting their hilarious show in park for good. They’re retiring after more than 35 years this fall. NPR will continue airing the best of Tom and Ray, a.k.a. Click and Clack the Tappet Brothers, using previously broadcast Car Talk material. “My brother has always been ‘work-averse,'” Ray Magliozzi, 63, joked. “Now, apparently, even the one hour a week is killing him!” “It’s brutal!” quipped Tom, who turns 75 this year. Partly because of Tom’s advancing age, the guys mutually decided it was time to stop “and smell the cappuccino,” NPR reported Friday. The radio show, in which guests call in with questions about their ailing vehicles, focuses on cars, but is really all about the brothers’ banter. While they often made good-natured fun of callers, the Boston-based duo saves their best material for themselves. They will be missed. Week after week, they turn Car Talk into an hour of riotous jokes and laughter that one need not know or care about cars to appreciate. Seriously, check it out if you haven’t heard it.
