LL COOL J, Spike Lee, Rosie Perez, Action Bronson & Shepard Fairey Celebrate BEYOND The Streets Exhibition   Source: Cindy Ord / Getty   Last night, LL COOL J , Spike Lee, Rosie Perez, Fisher Stevens, Action Bronson and many legendary artists from the street art and graffiti community showed up to celebrate the NYC VIP Opening Preview of BEYOND the STREETS at 25 Kent Ave. Hosted by LL COOL J and Roger Gastman, the party kicked off the official public opening (Friday, June 21) of the 100,000 sq ft exhibition of graffiti, street art and beyond, including some of the most pervasive artists of the community, including Shepard Fairey, Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf, Timothy Curtis, Takashi Murakami, TAKI 183, Cleon Peterson, LADY PINK and more.   Source: Cindy Ord / Getty Bert Krak was in attendance tattooing guests in his Brooklyn-inspired tattoo porch. Mass Appeal Launches MAJR, A New Kids Line Featuring Apparel, Books & Toys   Source: Mass Appeal / Mass Appeal   Last week, Entertainment company Mass Appeal announced a line of children’s apparel, books, toys and more under the newly launched brand MAJR. The brand, originated as a playful take on the concept of “Mass Appeal Junior”, will inspire and educate the next generation (newborn through pre-teen) through the global movement of hip hop culture in which Mass Appeal has become a dominant voice. The overlapping worlds of music, fashion, art and popular culture will drive MAJR’s injection of diverse perspective into the kids products market. MAJR launches with a selection of apparel available with matching designs for parents and children. The first toy in the collection, “Boomblox”, a set of building blocks that form into an old-school boombox, has also been announced, with shipping expected to take place in the fall.   Source: Mass Appeal / Mass Appeal In addition to apparel and toys, a cornerstone of the new brand will be a collection of kids’ books driven by some of the biggest names in hip hop. Attendees including Cicely Tyson, designer B. Michael, Essence Communications CEO Richelieu Dennis, National Urban League head Marc Morial, the Rev. Al Sharpton and celebrity stylist June Ambrose were spotted at the invite-only affair June 10 at the New York Historical Society in Manhattan. Guests screened a film that charted the festival’s rise and its impact on host city New Orleans. We obviously can’t share the file here because that’s illegal! Whoever created the dropbox link is likely to be punished if charges are pressed against them. Will You Be Watching?! Showtime Orders ‘Ready for War,’ A Docuseries Executive Produced By Drake

Source: Tony Forte/WENN / WENN Drake Is Working On A New Docuseries For Showtime A four-part docuseries focused on the hurdles many immigrant soldiers in the U.S. face, titled Ready for War , has been picked up by Showtime. The series is executive produced by Drake  and Future the Prince, among others, and marks the Dream Crew duo’s latest venture into the television realm. DreamCrew, if you’re unfamiliar, is a co-venture between Aubrey Drake Graham and Adel Future Nur.  “DreamCrew currently functions as both a management company and entertainment group; Producing Film, Television and special Projects as well as overseeing Drake’s professional career and business portfolio.” According to a report from Deadline , the show will take a close look at the “cause and effect of deporting U.S. military veterans and their forced recruitment by Mexican drug cartels.” Andrew Renzi and Nick Boak co-created Ready for War , which will touch on other issues related to military life including PTSD and substance abuse. The series will also feature interviews with politicians, journalists, and more on the unsettling topic of deporting these veterans. Before this upcoming foray into television, Drake and Future the Prince also had a hand in HBO’s highly anticipated Euphoria starring Zendaya. The series—an American rendition of the Israeli series of the same name—premieres later this month. According to his cousin, Cyril went to the club to see Meg over the weekend and was unfortunately killed that very same night. His cousin tweeted, “So my cousin was in love with Megan Thee Stallion and was killed last night after leaving the club to see her, hopefully she see’s this”. SMH: Houston Rapper Sosamann Arrested On Human Trafficking Charges

Source: Bennett Raglin / Getty Rapper Sosamann Arrested Following Prostitution Sting Sosamann, a rapper from Houston , has been charged with human trafficking. According to reports from TMZ , he was arrested this month following a prostitution sting in Los Angeles. Two women reportedly told authorities that Sosamann, along with others, had lured them to the West Coast with promises of the high life–but upon their arrival, they were forced into sell their bodies for sex and had no way to escape. The Taylor Gang affiliate, whose legal name is Anthony Denson, was reportedly taken into custody and charged with a felony on May 11. He was released on a $100,000 bond the following day and is scheduled to go back in court on June 6. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing. As Complex points out, even though Sosamann has remained active on his various social media pages in recent weeks since the arrest, he has yet to address the charges. The Houston native signed to Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang imprint in 2016. His most recent album, Sauce Eskobar 2 , dropped earlier this year.
