The Real Housewives of Atlanta gave us the saga of the “The Old Lady and the Shoe” but I wish Mama Joyce would just put her shoes back on and walk out the door. We recap the wedding dress drama in our THG +/- review. But first Kandi Burruss takes the girls to a dance class to get them moving but Cynthia Bailey’s sparkles nearly blinded me. Minus 15. Even worse was the close up of Phaedra Parks tummy. Minus 21. The woman just had a baby for goodness sake. But wait, they’re not done. Kenya Moore sent rival Phaedra her Booty Bootcamp video after she gave birth. Minus 25. That’s just so wrong. Does Kenya think that’s cute? Just wait until she has a child, which if her aunt has any say in it will be soon. Since Kenya’s always picking the wrong men, her aunt’s advice is to skip that part and go straight to the baby. Yes, Kenya seems to do fine with her little dog but a child…I’m not so sure. Speaking of kids, Cynthia had a sit down with Noelle’s daddy to talk about the girl’s new boyfriend. Plus 42 . Noelle’s a lucky girl. Most kids are lucky to have one parent who is interested. She’s got a mother and two fathers who are actively involved in her life. NeNe’s planning a girls’ trip to Savannah, Georgia. Plus 50. I love Savannah. I’m just not sure how much I’ll love it after these ladies get through with it. Brace yourself Savannah. The Housewives are coming. Hopefully Porsha Williams will be able to make it. The stress of the divorce must be taking its toll because she’s been plagued by headaches and she fainted on the stairs. Maybe it’s a good thing she didn’t move out of her Momma’s. But if Porsha needs to be close to her mother, Kandi needs to run from hers. Mama Joyce is a complete mess. Who goes to see their daughter try and wedding dresses and says “She ain’t gonna wear it no where” while the girl is in the dressing room. Minus 33. That’s just mean. But Mama Joyce is cruel. She’s a bully, only Kandi’s so used to having it in her life that she just can’t see how bad it really is. Joyce and her sisters came into that bridal salon like a mean spirited little gang and did their best to ruin Kandi’s day. And when Carmon tried to stand up to them, Mama Joyce threatened to beat her with a shoe! Kandi doesn’t like confrontation so she just backs down to Mama but if she keeps that up Mama Joyce will push Kandi’s best friend and fiance right out of her life. Minus 40 . But that seems to be exactly what Joyce wants. Her daughter to be just as lonely and miserable as she is. Maybe the ladies can convince Kandi to put her big girl panties on and stand up for herself when they get to Savannah, but after a lifetime of cow-towing to Mama Joyce, I doubt it. Episode total = -42! Season total = -329!
Bonnie & Clyde began its two-night premiere on Lifetime, A&E and the History channel last night, and did its best to introduce the 1967 film to new audiences. While by no means an attempt to upstage Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway‘s classic, it tried to rewrite the hit film with modern settings and viewers in mind. Did it succeed? Bonnie & Clyde Clip – Busting Out Emile Hirsch starred as Clyde Barrow, mixing boyish charm with criminal ruthlessness in a character whom viewers could root against or become sympathetic to. British actress Holliday Grainger, as Bonnie Parker, is fiery, fearless, and compelling as his partner in crime, whose chemistry with him was palpable. Holly Hunter, William Hurt, Elizabeth Reaser and Sarah Hyland also turned in strong performances when the gun-toting duo wasn’t raising hell. In order to enjoy Bonnie & Clyde , you basically had to not compare it to the original, a difficult task. But on its own merit, it was pretty good, right? Part 2 continues the saga tonight. A new Facebook app called What Would I Say answers exactly that question, generating Facebook updates automatically so you don’t have to! It works by accessing every post a user has come up with, mixing them up and regurgitating bits of them in an order that (kind of) makes sense. Added bonus? It sounds just like you , or how you come across to other Facebook users, according to the developers that built What Would I Say. “Technically speaking,” its creators say, “it trains a Markov Bot based on mixture model of bigram and unigram probabilities derived from your past post history.” There you go. As for security risks, they also reassured users that info is not stores, and all computations are done client side, so only your browser ever sees your history. The impetus for WWIS? “We drank a lot of coffee and Red Bull and thought of fun things to program that we could actually complete in a day and a half.” And with that, genius was created. Your infinite wisdom and/or epic Facebook fails can now be posted for you if you’re too tired to put in the effort. The team behind “What would I say?” didn’t push forward with the idea to make money, but rather just to have a good laugh. Mission accomplished. Is Hollyweird making slavery films to keep Blacks down? Nick Cannon Talks About Slave Movies Via SB Mag : If you’ve been paying close attention to the latest movies centered around black characters for the last few years, you can probably notice a trend. The increasing popularity of slave movies as well as films centered around blacks being maids and butlers is pretty hard to ignore. And although these movies keep finding a way to the big screen to a point of redundancy, they seem to instantly garner critical acclaim and Oscar buzz. Apparently Nick Cannon has noticed the trend too because he recently took to his Twitter account to slam slave movies. And with all the Oscar buzz currently surrounding the hit film “12 Years a Slave” and the recent confirmation that “Roots” will be remade, his timing surely can’t be coincidental. Nick Cannon say he’s disturbed by White Hollyweird’s depiction of Blacks and wants to make a different type of film based on the lives of our ancestors: Do you think Hollywood is continuing to make slave movies to portray Blacks negatively or help narrate our complex and nuanced past? Don’t be scared, FX viewers, but 13 new episodes of American Horror Story are headed your way in the fall of 2014. The network made the easy call today to renew this Ryan Murphy-created drama for at least one more season, as American Horror Story: Coven continues to scare up the highest ratings in the history of this unique franchise. Said FX President Landgraf in a statement: “Put simply, Ryan Murphy is a master television producer. Time and time again he reinvents the form. What he, co-creator Brad Falchuk and their producers Dante Di Loreto, Tim Minear, Jennifer Salt, James Wong, Brad Buecker, Jessica Sharzer, Douglas Petrie, Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, Alexis Martin Woodall and the entire production team and cast responsible for the American Horror Story franchise have done is nothing short of extraordinary. “Every year, they create a riveting and brilliant new miniseries. “AHS: Coven is the best yet, and I have no doubt that the next installment will be even better.” The first American Horror Story focused on a haunted house; the second turned its attention to a Nazi and alien-filled insane asylum; and the third is set in modern day New Orleans. It’s far too early to know anything about the cast and/or setting of American Horror Story Season 4 , but let’s all hope Jessica Lange continues to be involved.
