With no one sent home this week, there will be two eliminations on next week’s show. By Jim Cantiello Casey Abrams Photo: FOX It was Motown Week on “American Idol X: The Judges Give Good Reaction Shots,” and almost everyone brought their A-game. (Check out Jim’s speedy take on the week’s “Idol” craziness in the embedded video below.) “Tyler Perry Presents” Jacob Lusk stole the show by performing both the male and female parts of a famous Motown duet. Werk! Meanwhile, Naima Adedapo imagined a strange world where everyone is “Dancing [African] in the Street.” And wouldn’t you know it? Put a guitar in Paul McDonald’s hands and the swashbuckling leprechaun is immediately replaced by a legitimate frontman. Scotty McCreery charmingly crooned “For Once in My Life” as a country shuffle. Pia sang a Motown song that Streisand made a hit. Duh. Lauren’s and Thia’s performances were solid, if uninspired. Perhaps that will inspire the hairstylists to part their hair on the opposite side so we can continue to see their pretty young faces as they nervously turn to the band leader for cues. Stefano Langone’s theatrical “Hello” was a disappointment, but not nearly as disastrous as his mother’s home-cooked penne dish, which gave audience member Gordon Ramsey an intense case of Douche Mouth. The night ended with James Durbin’s Running Man-enhanced “Living for the City.” His vocals were lovely. His dancing was … Let’s just say it’s a good thing Stevie Wonder couldn’t see it. On Thursday night’s results show, Marc Anthony auditioned to be a new judge backstage after curing all of the contestants’ tone-deaf-itis with the magic of in-ear technology. Education has never been so sweaty! Thanks to “Idol” producers, there were surprises at every corner. Surprise! Stevie Wonder was in the house. (His lyric retention, however, was not.) Surprise! “Idol” got homoerotic with an extended montage of two men wrestling. Surprise! Apparently, Jennifer Hudson won her season of “Idol,” according to Ryan “Revisionist History” Seacrest. Surprise! Hulk Hogan showed up to prove to America that it is possible to be tanner and blonder than Ryan Seacrest. (Also, he has the ability to turn grown men into babbling toddlers.) Surprise! Haley Reinhart proved that if you wear short shorts that reveal part of your bottom, you will avoid the bottom three! Surprise! Casey Abrams was eliminated, then saved by the benevolent judges. His reaction: dropping the f-bomb and pretending to need medical attention. Is it just us or is it a little ironic that “thirsty” a** Rihanna is promoting bottled water? Pop star Rihanna is spearheading a new campaign for international charity UNICEF. The Umbrella singer is one of four celebrities who are taking part in the Tap Project – offering fans the chance to win a collection of bottled TAP water. Other stars joining the 23-year-old are Disney queen Selena Gomez, country superstar Taylor Swift and Entourage actor Adrian Grenier. The project encourages fans to sign onto the UNICEF Tap website and donate $5 towards the cause. Once fans donate they will be entered into a competition to win ‘The Ultimate Deluxe Platinum Celebrity Tap Pack. The Pack features four limited edition bottles of water from Gomez, Rihanna, Swift and Grenier. Each celebrity has their face etched on their own bottle with the word Tap printed on it. The website markets the water with the slogan, ‘Rihanna, now collaborating with her kitchen sink.’ It also makes a tongue in cheek statement about the price. ‘Only $5 to win some ridiculously famous water,’ it says. ‘The Ultimate Deluxe Platinum Celebrity Tap Pack (Limited Edition) includes bottles of real tap water from celebrities more famous than you,’ ‘Contribute to the UNICEF Tap Project for a chance to win this luxurious and desire collection of water from the most famous celebrities in world history. ‘History. It’s no surprise then that one Twitter user submitted a question during “MTV First: Robert Pattinson” asking if the actor felt awkward doing love scenes with “Water for Elephants” co-star Reese Witherspoon. Awkward, no. Sick? Well, yes. “The love scene in this, I was doing it when I had a really bad cold,” Pattinson explained. “I’m not generally that awkward doing stuff apart from when I’ve got my belly coming out. But my nose is running all over the place and it was in one of the additional photography scenes, and Reese had this wig on, and literally, I was wiping my nose on her wig.” “We were doing this really passionate love scene,” he added with a giggle. “It was really stupid. Case in point, Zack Snyder’s super (pun intended) highly-anticipated “Superman” reboot, tentatively titled ” Man of Steel .” When MTV News caught up with the director during the press day for his epic action fantasy “Sucker Punch” on Friday (March 18), we did our best to squeeze some information out of him about the direction in which he plans to take the film. But try as we might, Snyder’s lips were mostly sealed. “It’s a super-secret thing!” he said after a few failed attempts at getting some scoop. “It’s like building a stealth bomber.” That said, despite our seemingly stealthy line of questioning, we were only able to eke out a few thoughts from Snyder regarding his choice for the film’s lead actor, Henry Cavill , versus his second choice, “True Blood” actor Joe Manganiello. “Henry’s just … I love Joe too, by the way,” Snyder said. “Really he was the only other guy I was thinking of, to be honest, other than Henry. But in the end, I think Henry just has this innocence too [in addition to the look and physicality required for the role], he has both, which is tricky,” he explained. “Superman needs the teeniest bit of that. Not to be overt, but you like it to be there ever so slightly.
