A video purporting to contain the isolated vocals from Mariah Carey’s NBC performance last night has leaked online, and it appears to be authentic. it also appears to be fair to below average by Mariah standards. Mariah Carey Isolated Vocals The video was first posted on a site called The Concourse. The alleged isolated vocals, which we grant you are much better than these Britney Spears isolated vocals , are not what you would expect at certain parts. Mariah performed her massive holiday hit “All I Want for Christmas is You” live on the network, and by and large does alright during the bulk of the song. When she gets up into that upper register, however? Let’s just say that higher octave range is a little shaky. Compare it to the version that aired on TV with full accompaniment and see what you think: Mariah Carey NBC Performance Mimi had upset some fans when she failed to show up to pre-tape her performance the previous day, which she had originally planned on doing. She reportedly left her crew out to dry (or wet, in the cold rain) for several hours while reportedly handling a call about estranged husband Nick Cannon. She later apologized, Tweeting “[the] situation beyond my control. I apologize to all that showed up, you know that I would never want to disappoint you.” She went on to open the holiday show live instead, with a group of dancing kids behind her, a full band, and presumably an accompanying vocal track. Ariana Grande’s new Christmas song “Santa Tell Me” has been released, and in it, it sounds like she is trying seduce the man, the myth, the legend. Hard. Ariana Grande – Santa Tell Me Not unlike that festive classic of yesteryear, “Santa Baby,” Ariana’s breathy tale of holiday warmth, love and cheer goes much, much deeper than that. Literally, you might even say. Unlike “Santa Baby,” Ariana Grande is not teasing Old Saint Nick with potential sexual favors merely to secure sweet ass gifts. Girl just wants some lovin’. Grande reveals she is wary of “giving it all away” to a partner who is, for obvious reasons, unavailable so much of the year and only so committed to her. Still, the holiday season stokes the flames of passion within her in such a way that it’s hard to “play it cool” when she can “feel” Christmas all around. We also learn that “Let It Snow” puts the songbird “in the mood” for activity that may stretch beyond hanging up lights, trimming the tree and so forth. Elizabeth Lauten, the Congressional aide who sparked controversy by slamming Sasha and Malia Obama on Thanksgiving, is resigning from her job. Lauten, who was the communications director for U.S. Rep. Stephen Fincher (R-TN), raised eyebrows over the holiday weekend thanks to a Facebook rant. She wrote about the First Daughters’ appearance at his pardoning of the National Thanksgiving Turkey in terms you would not describe as flattering. “Dear Sasha and Malia,” Elizabeth Lauten began, “I get you’re both in those awful teen years, but you’re a part of the First Family, try showing a little class.” “At least respect the part you play. Then again your mother and father don’t respect their positions very much, or the nation for that matter,” she went on. “So I’m guessing you’re coming up a little short in the ‘good role model’ department. Nevertheless, stretch yourself,” Lauten went on. “Rise to the occasion.” The newly unemployed Lauten wrote of the more casual outfits that Malia Obama, 16, and Sasha Obama, 13, wore to the event, as well as their expressions: “Act like being in the White House matters to you. Dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at a bar. And certainly don’t make faces during televised, public events.” She deleted the initial post, going on to write another message apologizing for her initial reaction, but the second note no longer appears on Facebook either. Following the widespread backlash to her viral post, Lauten told NBC News on Monday, that her resignation from Rep. Fincher’s team is “in the works.” Probably for the best. Bullying teenagers seems a little out of bounds, even though politics is obviously a heated environment wrought with partisanship.
