The sun is warming your melanin skin and you are surrounded by lots of other party goers ready for a good time. You hop from boat to boat, partying, drinking, connecting. The music is blaring, the drinks are flowing, you are surrounded by paradise. While there is fun in Croatia, beauty in Greece, and you can never go wrong with Montenegro, Kelsy Horton realized there was a major miss for people of color: no Yacht Week focused on an African or Black experience. Thus, three years ago, Yacht Week East Africa was born. Talk about sailing for the culture! Source: Alexandra Wontorra / EyeEm / Getty This Yacht Week sets sail in the Seychelles where guests can spend two days on land learning about the Seychelles and experiencing the culture prior to setting sail. There are options for attendees to sight see, go shopping and learn more about the islands. During the actual sailing experience, there are options as well. Guests will be able to go on a tropical rainforest hike, snorkel, fish, bike riding, exploring and more. It’s more than just a boat and water! Source: Courtesy of Yacht Week East Africa / YachtWeekEA.com We caught up with Kelsy Horton, Founder and Host of Yacht Week East Africa , who got candid with us regarding why he started East Africa Yacht Week, things you need to know, and more. Starting a business can be daunting, what placed Horton up for the task? He told Hello Beautiful , “I started Yacht Week East Africa to provide an Afrocentric alternative to the sailing events that take place in Europe and the Americas. I also wanted to showcase the beauty and culture of East Africa, which is under the radar for many people.” Source: Courtesy of Yacht Week East Africa / YachtWeekEA.com In addition to East Africa being under the radar for many people, sailing isn’t something that Black people are culturally involved in on a large basis. Horton has been sailing since he was a child, “My first sail took place when I was a kid in Chicago, on the waters of Lake Michigan,” he shared with Hello Beautiful. How he got from sailing to a kid to running a yacht week was a little more complex. “In 2015, I moved to Tanzania, which sits on the Indian Ocean, and has a strong sailing community. I started sailing with friends for birthday parties, when guests were in town, and other special occassions. It was at this point that sailing became one of my passions.” Source: Courtesy of Yacht Week East Africa / YachtWeekEA.com And passionate he is! Horton is hosting three different trips in 2019. Currently, there is room to register for two more trips occurring in September and October. The first one is August 30th to September 8th, 2019 and the second one is October 11th – October 20th, 2019. Anyone can attend! Horton shared, “We celebrate Black culture and we welcome anyone from any background to join us.” If you are worried that you can’t swim, don’t be. Horton assured, “You don’t need to know how to swim to attend Yacht Week East Africa. Swiming during the event is totally optional.” Just wear a floatie girl and get ready to slay some serious beach photos! Source: Courtesy of Yacht Week East Africa / YachtWeekEA.com If you are someone that has been to other Yacht Weeks and wondering what makes this one different, Horton reveals, “in addition to sailing, beautiful beaches, and partying, our emphasis on culture and cuisine separates us from the rest. Our sailing locations are also off of the beaten path.” So yes, you will have a one of a kind experience with unique photos focused on our culture. While personally, I have never been to East Africa, Horton was able to help me understand what makes this region so special. “East Africa calms your spirit and is good for your soul.” He boldly boasts, “There’s a strong change that East Africa is more beautiful than your favorite vacation spot.” Wow! He also adds that “the people are extremely welcoming and the culture is very accommodating,” which is also a plus for people traveling while Black. Source: Courtesy of East Africa Yacht Week / EastAfricaYachtWeek.com I was looking through images and the company’s Instagram page and I noticed one thing: there were so many Black women in attendance! It made me wonder if Horton was focused on our demographic and behold, he is most definitely catering to Black women. (Come on, Black man!). “There is something that is very appealing about a beautiful woman in her best swimsuit, laid out on a yacht in the middle of the ocean without a care in the world,” he swoons. What makes this trip so attractive to us? Horton explains, “Add a beautiful backdrop like the Seychelles, plus the fact that the event is curated with them in mind, and our Sisters are ready to sign up!” Source: Courtesy of Yacht Week East Africa / YachtWeekEA.com As mentioned, the company has been around for only three years; however, they are already thinking of expansion. Horton is looking closely at routes in other countries as well as land-based events in Tanzania and Kenya. He tells us to “stay tuned!” …and we are. We end our interview with Horton encompassing Yacht Week East Africa, “It is for us, by us, and we sail for the culture.” Source: Courtesy of Yacht Week East Africa / YachtWeekEA.com You can find out more about Yacht Week East Africa on their website, here . Currently, you have until February 28th, 2019 to book for the August/September or October trip. Get on it! Just a couple of days before Valentine's Day, Larissa Lima was arraigned over her (latest) arrest for domestic battery. Despite Colt Johnson's accusation that his 90 Day Fiance bride was abusive, a lot of fans have questions. Having seen photos of Larissa after their latest fight, a lot of people have a hard time seeing Colt as the victim. But Colt's mother, Debbie, tells SoapDirt that Colt was absolutely a victim of Larissa's abuse. Debbie isn't quite a neutral party in this, but her words carry some weight. She also shares that Larissa's legal situation could be much, much worse than anyone realizes. 1. Debbie is confirming her son’s story She says that Larissa abused Colt during their marriage. It is unclear if she is claiming to have witnessed this, but we’ll walk you through what she has been willing to share. 2. Mackenzie Edwards is really trying, you guys. She’s trying to act all happy and normal and content with her life, even though one rather important person being missing from it. We speak, of course, about husband Ryan Edwards. Who is in prison. The former Teen Mom star has been behind bars for several weeks now, ever since his latest arrest for drug possession. He’ll be stuck behind bars until at least April , but all indications point to Mackenzie remaining by Ryan’s side despite his numerous run-ins with the law. Various insiders have said she won’t file for divorce or leave him — and now Mackenzie herself has basically confirmed this chatter. In honor of the holiday that falls on February 14 each year, the abandoned new mother shared the following photo on her Instagram story yesterday: “Happy Valentine’s Day,” Mackenzie wrote as a caption to the image, which features a bouquet of flowers, along with a photo of her and Ryan and Ryan and his son, Bentley, alongside the pink roses. It’s actually a really sad image. Poor Mackenzie was all alone on Valentine’s Day because her husband has a major drug problem. That’s pretty depressing. Edwards spent 90 days in rehab after he got arrested in the summer of 2018. He missed the birth of his son with Mackenzie as a result, but returned home around Thanksgiving, presumably a new and improved man. The photo shared at the top of this article was snapped in December, prior to Ryan’s latest arrest, when it seemed as if he’d be a dedicated husband to Mackenzie and father to his two kids. Alas, it didn’t take long for multiple rumors to make their way around the Internet. He allegedly signed up for Tinder within weeks of geting out of rehab, and allegedly asked a woman he met on that dating service for cocaine . Then, in January, Edwards was arrested for heroin possession and for theft after he left a restaurant without paying his tab. By our estimation, this marked the third time Edwards was arrested on a drug-related charge. You can learn the details of what transpired here: View Slideshow: Ryan Edwards Arrest Details: He Drank (6 Whiskeys!), He Dashed, He Got Caught, He is F–ked [UPDATED] Edwards appeared in court on Monday, January 28 for these, with a law clerk telling Radar Online: “The case has been continued to April 15, 2019. He’s going to serve time in county jail until then.” Mackenzie, however, isn’t prepared to ditch her law-breaking, drug-addicted husband. “This is devastating for Mackenzie, to have Ryan locked up again and away form her and the kids is almost too much to handle,” a source previously told Hollywood Life, expounding: “You have to understand how hard this all is on her though. Believe me, a part of her wants to just lay down in bed and stay there.” But she did partially know what she was signing up for when she started to date Ryan and she does have children to worry about and, look, the heart wants what the heart wants. “She has no plans to leave Ryan,” this same insider insists. “She is standing by him and believes that they will overcome this together” because “she has young children to remain strong for and that is what is keeping her going.” Fair enough. Maybe even admirable. For all the mockery Ryan often receives online, the guy is a father of two and clearly has a significant problem. We really do hope he gets help.

Source: MCT / Getty Is America ready for its first Black female president? California Senator Kamala Harris sure thinks so and sources believe she might prove this theory with her own run in 2020. According to KCBS Radio , sources claim that Harris, 54, plans on throwing her hat in the presidential election ring, most likely announcing her bid on or around Martin Luther King Jr. Day in a rally in her hometown of Oakland. However, one of Harris’ reps told The Hill on Thursday that no announcement is imminent and she will not be in Oakland during the holiday weekend. Meanwhile Harris, 54, hasn’t confirmed her run for President, but has said in numerous interviews that she will make that decision soon. . @CapehartJ asks Sen. Kamala Harris about running for president: “Do you have a timetable for making a decision?” @KamalaHarris “Soon.” Watch full conversation here: https://t.co/3Pi4VLADqo pic.twitter.com/UbkcEIvP7M — CSPAN (@cspan) January 10, 2019 Sen. Kamala Harris on 2020: “I will make my decision soon.” https://t.co/MT4uEd7CcU pic.twitter.com/PlIs7QEswY — The Hill (@thehill) January 10, 2019 Over the past weeks, Harris been making the media rounds, promoting her new book, “The Truths We Hold: An American Journey.” During a recent interview on ABC’s “The View” Harris stressed she believes that after President Trump, this country has evolved enough to have a woman of color as the leader of the free world. “I’m not saying that about myself, but I am saying that about the capacity of the American public,” Harris said, adding, “We need to give the American public more credit. They are smarter than that.” “Despite a woman’s role in the world, there are still certain myths of what a woman can and cannot do,” Harris said, citing her mother. As a woman of color, Harris is no stranger to breaking the political glass ceiling in her state, which is why her mother warned her about the racial and gender stereotypes she would face. “In spite of the fact that it is the woman who is the lioness, protecting those cubs. In spite of the fact that it is the woman at the kitchen table at midnight balancing those books,” Harris stressed. “There are so many myths that we still are challenged with,” she continued. “But with each woman who gains success, I think there is a greater appreciation and understanding of the capacity and breadth and depth of who women are and what we can do.” This news of running definitely has some folks on Twitter excited: Apparently Kamala Harris is running for President and she will do a formal announcement around MLK birthday Historic!! As previously detailed, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are preparing to welcome their fourth child at some point in the next few months. Due to the former sex tape star’s ongoing health concerns, this impending child will once again be delivered via surrogate. Despite neither Kim nor Kanye having commented on the news, few Internet users have very many questions about the process. We all just lived through it a year ago when little Chicago was born to Kim and Kanye, after all. However, many folks out there do have questions about the couple’s future. Specifically: Will unnamed child number-four be their final family member? Or should we expect Kardashian and West to add to their brood on a nearly-annual basis? An insider tells Radar Online that the answer is simple, and perhaps a bit surprising to those who have been following these stars closely throughout their marriage. “Kanye and Kim are definitely not done with having kids after their fourth,” a source tells this website. “Kim wants five or six!” That may sound like a lot, but another recent report alleged that Kanye wants an entire soccer team . That may be an exaggeration, or it may be that Kanye truly does want over a dozen sons and daughters running around. And why not, if you’re Kanye?!? He likely does little at home to care for his children and this would be the best way to carry on his legacy. “They’ve always wanted a dynasty,” says this Radar source . “They really think of themselves as royalty – like Princess Kate and Prince William of the U.S.” We’d make some sort of joke here, but let’s be honest: Who has done more to earn their fame and fortune, Kim and Kanye or Kate and William? As mentioned above, Kim and Kanye are once again using a surrogate because it would be too dangerous for the mother of three to give birth again. They will be using a different surrogate than the one who carried Chicago to term, however, and we can also confirm the following: Kimye will be welcoming a boy! An insider has told US Weekly the famous couple had one male embryo left and a surrogate is now expecting the newest addition to their family “in very early May.” Sounds like they’ll need to make room in their holiday photos this year for another young one, huh? This Us Weekly insider adds that Kimye’s first surrogate only recent had a child of her own, hence the move to someone new. “They wanted to use the previous one, but she just wasn’t ready. But they will go back to her,” says the source, emphasizing again the desire to have many more kids down the line and concluding; “Their lives are over-the-top and larger-than-life so they want a larger-than-life family. They’re at their happiest with their kids.” Or when they’re ranting and raving on Twitter about some really weird stuff . One or the other. Source: NurPhoto / Getty There are no more excuses for not seeing your family next holiday season, all because of one dedicated dad from Ohio. One father went the extra mile(s) this Christmas , booking six different flights to spend the holiday with his daughter, who works as a flight attendant. Delta Airlines attendant Pierce Vaughan wasn’t able to take the day off for Christmas Eve or Christmas day, so her father Hal decided to join her. He used his accrued miles and points to spend the holidays with her in the sky as she completed her job for the rest of the Christmas travelers on board. Their absolutely adorable story went viral after one passenger shared it on Facebook , after sitting next to Hal on the plane and realizing exactly what was going on. “I had the pleasure of sitting next to Hal on my flight back home. His daughter Pierce was our flight attendant who had to work over Christmas,” Mike Levy wrote on his Facebook with a selfie of himself next to Hal. “Hal decided he would spend the holiday with her. So, he is flying on each of her flights today and tomorrow around the country to spend time with his daughter for Christmas. What a fantastic father! Wish you both a very Merry Christmas!” What a fantastic father, indeed. And as you could probably imagine, people on Twitter ran with this story and everyone agrees: this is the most wholesome thing ever. One Twitter user got emotional, mentioning the fact that her father–who passed away almost a decade ago–would have done something exactly like this. She tweeted, “My dad passed away 7 years ago but this is something he would have done..I love reading sweet stories like this. It sounds like her dad is a wonderful man. I hope they enjoyed their Christmas.” My dad passed away 7 years ago but this is something he would have done..I love reading sweet stories like this. It sounds like her dad is a wonderful man. The compliments were a’plenty within the comments of all the outlets posting this story, bringing some Christmas joy to the internet even a few days after the holiday ended. This is the best story! What an amazing father! This daughter is so lucky to have a father this loving! — Kimberly (@KimberlyGrnMtn) December 27, 2018 How amazing and wonderfully sweet — lisa (@lisa39784897) December 27, 2018 Your a very lucky girl and he is s lucky man, many blessings — Mona Lee Robinson (@Numberonemom11) December 27, 2018 Though many people are pointing out the fact that this father purchasing the flights isn’t exactly the same as any normal person–since he used points and benefits from his daughter’s job–it’s not just the money that makes this gesture so sweet. Most of us don’t want to spend a few hours on a flight just to get to our destination–so staying on a plane for 2 days straight to hang out with a loved one takes things to a whole new level. Shoutout to Hal, you’re the real MVP!
