Source: Jake Gyllenhaal on "Cloud Nine" Over Taylor Swift, Planning Rendezvous in Paris

Reports indicate that Taylor Swift is more serious about her career than Jake Gyllenhaal. But the same can’t be said about the actor’s feelings regarding this young singer. According to Hollywood Life sources, Jake has dated since his split with Reese Witherspoon, but “no one has put a smile on his face like Taylor. He’s really on cloud nine.” Call them Swiftenhaal or Gyllenwift. Just don’t call Taylor and Jake a casual couple any longer. Following casual dates in NYC and California, things between Swiftenhaal will allegedly heat up this December, as insiders claim : “The two are planning to spend the holidays together. And Jake plans to meet Taylor in Paris at the beginning of the new year, where she’ll be performing.” How did these two even cross paths? Maggie Gyllenhaal supposedly met Swift at a charity event and thought she was a “sweet girl with a good head on her shoulders.” She told her brother the same. But might she have walked her sibling into a trap? Will Swift soon pen a revenge song titled “Dear Jake?” Unlikely, a source says. “He’s not like the other men Taylor has dated. Jake is no John Mayer. He’s a very sweet and sensitive guy. He treats women with respect.”

On This Labor Day, Demand Safe Green Jobs, And Honor Those Who Work With Their Hands

There is a price to pay for cheap energy and gas for our cars that goes beyond dollars, as we saw this year with the 29 dead miners in West Virginia and the 11 on the Deepwater Horizon platform in the Gulf. American labor used to make things and fix things, and used to be proud to do it, for a decent wage. … Read the full story on TreeHugger

Jackson Rathbone Was The Ultimate Prankster, On ‘When I Was 17’

The ‘Eclipse’ star made extra cash spinning as DJ Joyride when he wasn’t pulling pranks. By Jocelyn Vena Jackson Rathbone on “When I Was 17” Photo: MTV News Jackson Rathbone probably doesn’t worry too much about making ends meet these days, what with two summer blockbusters — “Eclipse” and “The Last Airbender” — hitting theaters next week. But the actor didn’t always have deep pockets. “When I was 17, I was always trying to find ways to make money,” he says in a new episode of “When I Was 17,” airing Saturday. “When I was back home for the holidays, especially for the summer, I would DJ weddings, birthday parties, all types of events. I was DJ Joyride. I don’t know why — sounded cool at the time,” he laughed. When Rathbone wasn’t earning dough spinning tunes, he and his pals were busy pulling major pranks at school. “We did a lot of prank wars,” Rathbone remembered. “We were kind of the prank-war gods so to speak,” his friend Ben added. But the prank-war gods had the tables turned on them in one particularly memorable instance. “We came back to our [high school dorm] room and we saw a ransom note in place of our trophy piece, which was a plastic model goose,” Ben explained. “The goose is one of those prized possessions you get and you don’t know why,” Rathbone continued. “You’ve got it, but it’s just something that you like and we discovered that our friend stole our goose.” This audacious bit of thievery sent Rathbone and his crew of prankster pals into full-on battle mode. “To get him back, we asked the girl that he liked to write him a note saying to meet him at the beach at a certain time,” Rathbone confessed. “He goes down to the beach. We all jump out of the bushes, hog-tie him, rip his shirt off, write ‘goose thief’ on his chest and make him walk to the dorm in his boxers, hands tied behind his back for all the world to see what a goose thief gets.” “When I Was 17” — this week featuring Jackson Rathbone, Keri Hilson and Johnny Weir — airs Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV.

England aiming to sign off for summer with rare victory in Australia | Robert Kitson

• ‘Some won’t get a chance to play in a Test in Australia again’ • Defining moment for Martin Johnson’s World Cup planning One game should not define a season, but England know there are exceptions. A big defeat in the second and final Test will confirm the worst fears of those who suspect the coaches are flogging a dead horse. Victory, on the other hand, would allow the management to insist their World Cup plans are gathering momentum. There is hardly any middle ground still available for rent. Even a gallant loss would underline what the rugby world has come to believe: that England talk a better game than they play in terms of beating the southern hemisphere’s finest. Australia are a good side but their current scrum issues make them more vulnerable than they might be. If Martin Johnson’s squad wish to enjoy their holidays, it is important they erase the memory of their diffident display in Perth. Precisely that message will be repeated before kick-off by coaches and senior players alike. “We’ve got a chance to put the record straight,” said Nick Easter, the England No8 who, by his own admission, fell below the required standard last week. “You want to have a summer when you can look back and be pleased with your last performance, otherwise you’ll be stewing. We’ve got to go out and show a lot more than we did last Saturday.” Johnson has also reminded everyone that places in England’s 32-man elite squad to be named next month remain unbooked, well aware that Wednesday’s game against New Zealand Maoris in Napier is unlikely to supply much solace. A potential tour record of one scratchy win from five games will not rank as a great leap forward. “Some of the guys won’t get a chance to play in a Testmatch in Australia again,” he said. Barring a marked upturn, several are unlikely to be tackling the Wallabies at Twickenham this November either. At least the cheery mood during training at North Sydney Oval was encouraging. Maybe the sunshine helped, but the squad contains enough talent and enthusiasm to hint at better days ahead if the players can escape their current underachieving rut. Ben Youngs has the ability to match his contemporary Will Genia as a backline catalyst and his first Test start will be instructive. If the Leicester scrum-half shines, it might even persuade Johnson to start thinking like an Australian and blood the likes of Alex Goode on the enlightened basis that class is permanent and immaturity is temporary. It would also help if the French referee Romain Poite, as he surely will, takes a sadistic interest in the scrum engagements. At times last week England’s tight-head Dan Cole unquestionably used illegal tactics to destabilise his opponent Ben Daley, but he is good enough to make life difficult without resorting to the dark arts. Tim Payne, even so, has cautioned against assuming the Wallabies scrum will be minced again. “Without a shadow of a doubt, they’ll be better,” the loose-head said. “I’m sure they’ll have hit the scrum machine many times this week.” Either way, England crave a collective performance that is not entirely down to their scrummagers or the slowly fading veterans of the 2003 World Cup final triumph in the same arena. Australia remains mystified at Jonny Wilkinson’s non-selection, with the former Wallabies centre Tim Horan declaring it “a decision Martin Johnson is likely to regret”. The hosts should clinch a 2-0 win but the ghost in the white No10 jersey has yet to be exorcised Down Under. If Jonny rises off the bench and slots another winning drop-goal the groans will be audible from Canberra to Cape Tribulation.
