Kevin Hunter has broken his silence. And he’s said some rather incredible things in the process. Hunter, of course, has been the husband of talk show host Wendy Williams for the past 22 years. He’s also been at the center of some rather nasty stories and rumors for about the past 22 weeks. After having been accused of carrying on affair with someone named Sharina Hudson for quite a long time – an allegation Williams herself addressed on multiple occasions in front of her studio audience – Hunter was then accused last month of fathering Hudson’s child . It seemed like a bombshell claim at the time, one maybe too salacious to be true. But we now know this is one gossip item that has been proven accurate. And we know this for two reasons: 1. Williams filed for divorce last week . 2. Hunter just admitted it. On Tuesday afternoon, Hunter issued his first statement since Williams ended her unhealthy marriage. “28 years ago I met an amazing woman: Wendy Williams. At the time, I didn’t realize that she would not only become my wife, but would also change the face of entertainment and the world,” said Hunter, perhaps laying it on a tad too thick. He continued: “I have dedicated most of our lives to the business empire that is Wendy Williams Hunter, a person that I truly love and respect unconditionally.” It’s sort of true: Hunter currently serves as a producer on The Wendy Williams Show. This is possibly why it took so long for Williams to pull the romantic plug; she was afraid of how such a change in her personal life would affect her professional life. Added Hunter in his mea culpa, essentially admitting to his Hudson affair and even the brand new baby: I am not proud of my recent actions and take full accountability and apologize to my wife, my family and her amazing fans. I am going through a time of self-reflection and am trying to right some wrongs. No matter what the outcome is or what the future holds, we are still The Hunter Family and I will continue to work with and fully support my wife in this business and through any and all obstacles she may face living her new life of sobriety, while I also work on mine. I ask that you please give me and my family privacy as we heal. Thank you. Williams and Hunter got married in 1997 and share an 18-year old son who is also named Kevin. Williams simply cited “irreconcilable differences” in her divorce filing. And a rep for the star simply said the following shortly afterward: “Thank you to everyone for respecting the family’s privacy during this time. Kevin is supportive of Wendy, and they are working through this process together.” Williams, meanwhile, acknowledged the divorce herself on Monday’s episode of her talk show. Although she didn’t delve into many specifics, outside of once again referencing her unfortunate recent relapse and general reliance on alcohol/drugs. “Everybody has things in their life that they’re embarrassed to share with the world, or they’re frightened to share with the world, or they’re not ready to share with the world,” Williams told her viewers yesterday, adding: “And addressing my sobriety, my addiction head on, has really helped me sort out every single compartment of my life.” As for how Wendy is feeling now that the relationship is over? “It’s like a weight lifted off everyone’s shoulders,” a source tells Us Weekly, concluding: “Kevin’s toxicity was dragging everyone down… “While the future is somewhat unclear, what is clear is that Wendy has a huge support system comprised of her staff, industry colleagues and family.” View Slideshow: 19 Times Wendy Williams Has Totally Sucked as a Person
