Busking is not only a way for performers to get their music and art out, but also to make money. I have no qualms with the high end brand using this creative manner to launch their latest line; however, could they have supported more artists? What would this have looked like if they had created a band for Willow, using musicians who actually busk in the London tube? That would have been a phenomenal platform for them. Personally, I always have to give a slight side eye when a high end brand uses an activity or borrows from a culture that lacks socio-economic resources to further promote their brands and sales. Busking is not something rich people do (and it’s highly doubtful you would see a musician doing this in a subway or tube station wearing Prada). If the brand was going to borrow from the musical culture, they could have shined lights on musicians doing this as well, using Willow Smith’s platform (and their own) to help amplify it. Jill Duggar is in a tough spot. Ever since Derick Dillard got fired from Counting On two years ago, her family has been without any steady source of income. ( Jill quit the show as a gesture of solidarity — a move she probably regrets these days.) All Duggars are expected to devote their adult lives to two equally important pursuits: Helping to enrich the family media empire, and cranking out a whole lot of babies. Unfortunately, Jill seems to have little interest in either objective at the moment, Not only does her current financial situation prohibit further family expansion, it seems Jill finds raising two boys to be such a handful that she’s considering closing up shop. Just one week after Jill and Derick revealed that they’re expanding their family with the addition of a new puppy, Jill took to Instagram to vent her frustrations over the ever-increasing demands of mom life. Yes, it seems the situation at Casa de Dillard got a little raucous over the weekend. It all started when Jill’s sons Sam and Israel decided to get out of bed and redecorate the kitchen. “This is me frustrated,” Dillard said in her Instagram story documenting the incident. “[My son] is screaming at me because he wants a game. I just told them to go lay down or go outside until mommy can cool down and handle this situation.” And the chocolate sauce all over the kitchen wasn’t the only mess Jill had to contend with. It seems Sam and Israel also drew all over the walls with a pencil, which forced Jill to clean up with an eraser. “Just venting over here… [laugh out loud],” Jill captioned her post in an effort to keep the mood light. Of course, in the initial video, Jill griped that her life is almost unbearably stressful with “just two kids” — a comment that’s led many to the conclusion that she and Derick are done having children, Fortunately, Jill has figured out a brilliant strategy for preventing more offspring from entering her life — birth control. Yes, that might sound obvious, but most Duggars view birth control pills as the devil’s Tic Tacs. The Dillards have admitted to using birth control in the past, a fact that alarmed fans, as it was widely assumed that their faith forbade them from doing so. In any event, the situation at Jill’s house eventually calmed down, as the boys became distracted by a neighbor’s dog. And it seems Jill’s been benefitting from a time-tested coping mechanism of her own: “Have lots of good sex!” Derick wrote in a recent blog post about what he considers to be the keys to a successful marriage. “You both need this time together regularly (5-6 times (or more) a week is a good start),” Dillard added. “Guys, you need to keep yourself ‘joyfully available’ for your wife, because only you can fulfill certain desires she might have.” Needless to say, it’s a very good thing that these two don’t share her parents’ views on birth control! If you’ve been keeping up, you know that Amanda Seales has been speaking out since Emmys weekend when she was escorted out of an after-party meant to celebrate Black Hollywood. While she initially, in Instagram Stories from that very night and event, said a white woman named Kiara had made sure she was kicked out, during the “Side Effects of Professionalism Part 1” episode of her Small Doses podcast last week, she changed her tune. The 38-year-old comedian and actress placed blame, publicly, on Vanessa Anderson , a fellow Black woman, who does PR for Issa Rae and puts together the party every year. Amanda mentioned that the two have never really hit it off, but implied that the fact that Vanessa would go so far as to have her removed from the space felt incredibly unfair and uncalled for. Jackson Gives His Two Cents On Martin Scorsese’s Marvel Comments Martin Scorsese’s comments about Marvel films rubbed a lot of fans the wrong way, but MCU star Samuel L. Jackson’s unbotheredness is something we should all aspire to when responding to haters. Jackson–who has been in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since day one in his role as Nick Fury—spoke to Variety about Scorsese’s comments, saying, “I mean that’s like saying Bugs Bunny ain’t funny. Films are films. Everybody doesn’t like his stuff either. Everybody’s got an opinion, so I mean it’s okay. Ain’t going to stop nobody from making movies.” Of course, Samuel L. wasn’t the only Marvel alum to share their feelings on Scorsese’s belittling comments. Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn really wasn’t happy with Scorsese’s criticisms. He tweeted on Friday, “Martin Scorsese is one of my 5 favorite living filmmakers. I was outraged when people picketed The Last Temptation of Christ without having seen the film. Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. For one of his upcoming projects, he’s collaborating with his wife Zinzi Evans to produce a film based on the comic book series Bitter Root , Deadline reported. Bitter Root has garnered several nominations for prestigious awards including the 2019 Ringo award for Best Series and the 2019 Eisner Award for Best New Series. The global entertainment company Legendary Pictures Productions will develop the project in partnership with Coogler, Evans and Sev Ohanian . There is no word on when the film will be released. Coogler has been dedicated to bringing diverse narratives to the silver screen. “As I got older, I wanted to find a comic book character that looked like me and not just one that was on the sidelines,” he said in an interview with NPR . “I just want to make films that resonate with me, that are interesting to me, that deal with themes that I’m passionate about.” His wife Zinzi Evans is expanding her repertoire in the film industry and has collaborated with him on several projects. Coogler often credits Evans for helping him launch his career in film. “I was broke, playing football on the little scholarship money and my wife scrapped together some cheese and bought me Final Draft, which is the software that you write your movies on. She got me that,” he said in a Hot 97 interview . As far as what’s on the horizon for Coogler, he’s working on Space Jam 2 which is slated to be released in 2021 and the sequel to Black Panther will hit theaters in 2022. The Instagram post is part of a larger challenge issued by the actress to promote a water challenge, asking her 5.6 million followers to join her in drinking at least eight ounces of water eight times per day. So, in case you missed it, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro went and got himself into trouble again. That in itself isn’t a shock, since Ronnie has been on a serious downward spiral for a good long while now. But the story about what actually happened is pretty darn intense, even for him. Late Thursday night and into Friday morning, Ron and his girlfriend, Jen Harley, had some kind of issue, as they often do. They were at an Airbnb with their daughter, 18-month-old Ariana, when they started arguing. Things escalated, and Ron allegedly slapped and punched her. She ran outside and started screaming for help — there isn’t an “allegedly” for this part, because apparently several neighbors called 911 to alert authorities of that part of the situation. But instead of just letting her go, Ron ran after her with a knife in one hand and baby Ariana in the other. Jen wouldn’t listen, so he dropped the knife, went back inside with the kid, and locked the door. When police arrived, they asked him to open the door, and when he refused, they broke down the door so they could make sure Ariana was OK. She was, but Ronnie still refused to cooperate, so out came the taser. He was pretty incapacitated, on account of being tasered, so he was taken to a hospital before he was taken to jail and booked on kidnapping charges. What a ride, huh? A terrible, horrifying, just inexcusably awful ride. Jen told police that Ronnie went off after doing some cocaine, which might explain his behavior a bit, but it’s obviously not an excuse. Especially when he and Jen both have such a history of being violent with each other , including but certainly not limited to that time that she dragged him with her car . The whole incident honestly sounds terrifying, and it sounds like the worst bit of violence between them yet, which is really saying something. But was it so bad that they could both end up losing custody of Ariana? According to a lawyer who spoke with Hollywood Life, yeah. The lawyer, a family law attorney in California named David T. Pisarra, doesn’t personally know Ronnie and Jen, but it’s safe to say he’s familiar with situations like these. And as he explains it, Ronnie could be facing an additional charge of child endangerment for what went down, and if he does, then “the government may not allow” any kind of reconciliation between him and Jen. We all know that they have a history of getting into these kinds of fights, breaking up, then getting back together and giving interviews and how they’ve changed and grown and how everything is fine now. But according to this lawyer, “It’s conceivable that the Department of Child & Family Services might not let that happen.” “DCFS could threaten to take the baby from them if she gets back together with Ron because she’s putting the baby in a dangerous position.” “They could charge Jen with negligent parenting,” he adds. Additionally, “DCFS could require Jen to get a restraining order against Ronnie to protect herself and the baby from him.” But if Jen does decide to leave him for good, she has “a phenomenal case for sole custody,” which makes sense. “The prior abuse in their relationship is between them alone, but the fact that Ronnie was holding the baby while he’s chasing Jen now involves the kid,” the attorney says. Going forward, she could potentially get one of two different kinds of restraining orders — a criminal protective order or a civil domestic restraining disorder. Either would be easy for her to obtain, and if she got one, it’s extremely likely that she’d end up with sole custody of Ariana, with Ron getting some kind of supervised visitation.
