I’m finally sitting down to share my experience meeting…

I’m finally sitting down to share my experience meeting Justin and seeing the Believe tour for the first time. Let me start by saying I haven’t been around since the beginning (unfortunately) like a lot of you have. Right around the time ‘Never Say Never’ came out, my friend Jenni (@thejennimoore) introduced me to Justin’s music. After we saw the movie, it was on . We became a bit obsessed, but since we were (at the time) 22, couldn’t really admit it to that many people. Getting comments about him not being legal and such made it hard to let everyone know how much we loved his music, and how cute he was! We always said that when Justin comes to Portland, we are totally going to see him. I wasn’t a member of BieberFever, but Jenni was and when we heard the announcement that he was going on tour plus presale was on May 23rd, we knew the time had come. We were finally going to get to see Justin Bieber in concert! We bought our floor seats and spent the next few months getting excited for the concert! When Jenni told me she was going to enter a contest to win us a meet & greets, I gladly helped, but secretly thought we had no chance of winning. The winners weren’t going to be announced until the day before the show, at midnight, and the anticipation was killing us! The night that the winners were announced, I was out with friends and my phone had died. The next morning Jenni called me promptly at 8 a.m., and said she would give me two more hours, but was coming over. 10 a.m. came too quick, and in walked Jenni and her bf, ready to hang out. He took my phone, (secretly taking a video of us sitting on the couch) and she handed me hers, prompting me to read an email. The email was to Bieberfever, with her entry. I didn’t understand what was going on, and she took the phone, found another email, and showed it to me. WE HAD WON! I started screaming at the top of my lungs, with her boyfriend catching it all on camera, and we both started giggling hysterically . Although I had only had 4 hours of sleep, you’d better believe I was WIDE awake! We started planning our day, now with the knowledge that we were going to meet THE MAN himself the next afternoon. First stop, driving past his hotel. We thought we’d take a chance and see if he happened to be outside, and luckily for us his tour bus had just pulled up and out he walked, looking perfect as ever, as we were slowly driving by. Jenni stopped the car and opened her door, not knowing whether or not to go talk to him. I picked up my phone and started frantically taking whatever pictures I could. We quickly decided not to bother him, as he looked sleepy and seemed to be ready to go on a bike ride. We circled around and drove past him. I rolled down my window and said the only thing I knew we were both thinking, and the only thing that would come out of my mouth, “JUSTIN WE LOVE YOU!!!!!”. He said thanks, and as we drove away. I’m pretty sure we both giggled harder then we ever had before. We were in shock. I honestly don’t know how she drove, but we ended up at her house and proceeded to fangirl over our short interaction with him, and plan our outfits, hair, talking points and anything else we could to prep for our big day. I woke up the next morning literally smiling like an idiot, but I couldn’t contain my excitement! I honestly don’t remember anything before Jenni came over to pick me up for the show, that’s how elated I was to be meeting him. Fast forward through all the stress at the ticket window, Beliebers screaming and running frantically, and our Kenny sighting, we had finally made it inside the arena for our M&G. We made friends with some adorable girls in line in front of us, and heard shrieks and sobs over and over again. It was almost our turn; we ran over our game plan, and as we walked around the corner, we saw the black curtain that every Belieber at the concert wants to see. We knew he was behind it, and started freaking out almost immediately. The guy at the curtain was shouting, I need two more, two more people, and we yelled, we’re two!! My heart sank because I knew that meant we weren’t going to get to take a pic with him, just us two. But, I didn’t have time to dwell because this was it. There were 4 other girls that we had to go in with, and when the guy asked if we were ready, I think we all just about died. He pulled back the curtains, and I saw Fredo first, laughing and standing by the camera guy. I turned to my right and there he was. I swear I heard angels singing and almost fainted. Jenni ran up to him first, he was SO nice and gave her a big hug. I was next, and again got a huge hug like I was a friend he hadn’t seen in years. He was smiling from ear to ear, saying, “Hey guys, how are you”, and I’m pretty sure I made a total fool of myself and just said “Thank you for everything”. As everyone always says, he smelled amazing, and he was literally flawless. He gives great hugs too, that’s for sure. At this point, Jenni was on his left, and I made my way to his right side. He hugged the others and then it was time for our pic. I still had my arm around his shoulder from hugging him (cause I was not about to let go and lose my spot), and I knew it would look weird in the pic so I said, Justin I have to move my arm, and he said oh ok, that’s better, as I moved my arm around his waist. We took the pic, and I saw Alfredo still laughing, which was totally understandable; the m&gs have got to be the most entertaining part for him and the crew. As they led us out of the tent, Jenni got one last question in, and then it was all over. It lasted a maximum of 45 seconds I’m sure, but it was the best 45 seconds. As we fell out, we were in shock and screaming and I could hardly walk. We had to leave the arena through a door that had a huge group waiting to catch a glimpse of him, and everyone knew why we were so excited, which made me feel kinda bad cause I wish they could have met him to! Anyway, after that was the concert, and it was amazing, so amazing in fact that Jenni and I are going to Denver, Miami, and now San Jose to see him 3 more times . October 8th was one of the best days of my life, and I’m so grateful that no matter how famous and popular Justin gets, he still takes the time (even if its only a few seconds) to meet his fans. He really is the best, and I hope each and every one of you gets to meet him and have the same Bieber experience I did.  -Madison (@madstout)  Go here to see the original: I’m finally sitting down to share my experience meeting…

I’m a little different than most of these stories because I’m 22…

I’m a little different than most of these stories because I’m 22 and in grad school, but I promise I love Justin as much as all of you! My story honestly doesn’t even sound real to me, but I have pictures and tweets to prove it! I met Justin, Dan, Kanter, and Carly Rae Jepsen on November 3 rd , 2012 – the day before the concert in Philly. I was determined to find where Justin and the crew were staying. Dan tweeted a picture from a restaurant a few blocks from my apartment in Center City, so I literally RAN there.  I found him and Josh Gudwin in the middle of my sprint. I was out of breath and I started crying. Josh took my phone and got 2 pictures of me with Dan. I was freaking out so bad so they tried to calm me down. I actually got to HANG OUT with Dan and Josh and introduced them to my mom! Dan gave me a guitar pick and we talked about lots of stuff. I sounded so stupid because I couldn’t even think straight. I got both their autographs, they told me where they were staying, and when I should go to the hotel to see Justin! Since my name is Danielle, my last name starts with a K, and I have the same initials as Dan, he was calling me DK . I finally had to leave them and went to Macy’s and RAN INTO CARLY RAE JEPSEN! I thought I was the luckiest girl in the world after meeting these 3 amazing people, but then it got even better. Later that day I went to the hotel where they were staying and waited for about 5 hours inside because I’m crazy. I came outside at one point and I heard someone say, “Yo DK!” It was DAN AND JOSH! They remembered me! They told me to come with them because Justin was in his bus on the other side of the hotel. I thanked them a million times and ran over to where Justin was. I stood outside his bus with a group of about 15 people waiting for him to come outside. One girl asked me if I was the girl she saw hanging out with Dan earlier that day! Justin finally came out and wanted to go directly into the hotel, but a girl had a gift for PAC so he walked over to us. He took pictures with some of the girls and I was the LAST person he took a picture with. I said “I love you!” to him I couldn’t stop crying! Then the next day – the day of the concert, after tweeting Josh and Dan a thousand times, Josh tweeted at me and said to enjoy the show! I met so many awesome people outside the Wells Fargo Center. I ended up seeing Kenny bringing a Make-a-Wish kid into the arena. I was right by the catwalk for the entire show and Justin was RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! At the end of ‘Baby’, the last song and the last time Justin touched anyone’s hands in the audience, he held both of my hands and looked right at me. I am so grateful for everything that happened that weekend, especially for Dan and Josh helping me meet Justin. I still cry when I tell this story to anyone. I will NEVER forget this day. I hope this story gives you guys hope that you WILL meet him! -@daniellekulich Here is the original post: I’m a little different than most of these stories because I’m 22…

AARP Gives Its Top 10 ‘Movies For Grownups’

Popular culture may suffer from youth obsession and the movies may be front and central in perpetuating it all, but older folks have made strides this year in capturing the box office dollar with titles like The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and Hope Springs . So, why not have the nation’s most prominent organization for people hitting their Golden Years weigh in on the year’s best movies? AARP — less popularly known as the American Association of Retired Persons — gave its Top Ten films of the year, joining a chorus of other groups this time of the year giving their lists. The interest group noted that 2012 was “hot for both older movie-goers and movie-makers,” citing Golden Globe nominations for Helen Mirren, Richard Gere, Denzel Washington, Bill Murray and Judi Dench. AARP’s picks include titles by directors such as Ben Affleck, David O. Russell and Kathryn Bigelow which feature stars that aren’t exactly on the cusp of receiving Social Security benefits, but their picks seem to indicate themes of maturity over age. AARP dubbed their 2012 best films list as a “Year-end Top Ten Movies for Grownups.” Their picks follow:          Argo         Amour        Best Exotic Marigold Hotel         Hitchcock        Les Miserables         Lincoln         Quartet         The Sessions         Silver Linings Playbook         Zero Dark Thirty Movies made for older audiences became an issue earlier this year after comments by an actress perfectly comfortable embracing senior citizenry in roles such as the Dowager Countess of Grantham on Downton Abbey and as Muriel Donnelly in box office hit The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel . Maggie Smith made waves criticizing Hollywood’s youth obsession, pointing out that films that portray older people have historically performed well. “It seems to me there is a change in what audiences want to see,” she said. “I can only hope that’s correct, because there’s an awful lot of people of my age around now and we outnumber the others. I don’t think films about elderly people have been made very much. But I think of [films like] Cocoon and Driving Miss Daisy and they always seem to be fairly successful, so it’s a bit baffling as to why everybody has to be treated as if they were five years old.”

Arianny Celeste Schools Brittney Palmer

Recently, I’ve been giving the title of hottest MMA ring girl to Brittney Palmer because not long ago Arianny Celeste put out a terrible music video which was a major turn off. Well, here they are together at the Hard Rock Hotel and it’s clearly evident that Brittney was out “boobed” by Arianny. I don’t know what the hell she was thinking, but showing up to an event wearing jeans and a blazer alongside your biggest competition is just not good business sense. No wonder Arianny has double the amount of Twitter followers. I hope Brittney has learned something from this.

More:

Alright, where do I begin? November 25th 2012 was a VERY interesting day. With all the Grey Cup festivities going on it got very crazy, but any fan of Justin’s was either at the Rogers Centre for his halftime show performance OR at his hotel trying to meet him . For my friends and I we decided to head to his hotel. We got there around 10 a.m. and there was already quite a few people there from the day before where they had no luck at all. The weather was a tad bit cold but wasn’t bad where you had to leave. During the day his grandparents came out, said hi to us all and took pictures with fans. Justin’s little sister Jazzy sister kept walked to the bus and back and his little bro came to the door and waved to everyone . Dan, Alfredo and Scrappy came out and took a few photos before they went off to do their own thing, yet still no sight of Justin until 7 p.m. when he was leaving to go to the Grey Cup. He just walked by the door and waved . To say the least, a lot of us were upset but on the other hand it was a gamble to wait, so we left to get something to eat, watch his performance, and after he was done we decided to go back and see if he would return. There was about 10 of us waiting (but seemed like a lot more at the time). 15 minutes later Dan and Alfredo returned but no sign of Justin until I poked my head around again to make sure and at the same time, Justin was looking too and called us over for photos! It was a VERY quick process but he didn’t even have to take pictures. For myself, this is huge thing, I’ll admit it, I wasn’t a fan of him during “My World,” I actually started being a fan after seeing him perform at the 2010 MMVAS and also hearing his song “Never Let You Go.” It took me awhile to actually tell people I’m a fan; well cause I’m a 21 year old guy but the friends I’ve made because of it is amazing. So here’s what I say to anyone reading this who hasn’t met him yet, your time will come, and when it does the feelings you will have will be indescribable! -@Cody_Reid   Read the original here: Alright, where do I begin? Tina Fey And Amy Poehler Pimp Out The Golden Globes

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are not only co-hosts of the 70th Golden Globes this year, they’re also competitors. Both were nominated for Best Actress in a Television Musical or Comedy, with Fey duking it out with her counterpart for 30 Rock , while Poehler is up for the award for Park and Recreation . [ Related: Golden Globes Unveil 70th Edition Nominees ] But while the co-hosts won’t conceivably know the results until the envelope opens at the ceremony on January 13th, the pair are busy working together in the lead-up to the big event, and no doubt re-calling those good ol’ Saturday Night Live days. In this promo for the Globes, the duo are dressed in matching golden sparkly dresses and they both dish out cheesy Brit(ish) accents (until they don’t). Maybe they’re commenting on the resurgence of British-speak in Hollywood films reminiscent of the very early “golden days” of Hollywood? Who knows, but here’s a funny look at what may bode well for the Globes telecast after the New Year. [ Source: Huffington Post ]

Oscar Index: ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ Caught In The Cross-Hairs

The Oscar Index’s head is spinning. What critics organization didn’t announce their nominees or award-winners this week? On Thursday it was the Golden Globes , on Wednesday the SAGs , and Monday the AFI and BFCA. The Boston, Detroit, Las Vegas, Los Angeles , Phoenix, San Diego, St. Louis and Washington critics associations also weighed in with their picks. But critics don’t vote for the Academy Awards, so much of this will have little bearing on who will be nominated for an Academy Award; not Lincoln ’s seven Golden Globe nominations, not Dwight Henry’s Best Supporting Actor win from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association for Beasts of the Southern Wild , and not the Washington D.C. Film Critics Association’s pick of Zero Dark Thirty as the year’s best film. By splitting its acting categories into drama and musical-comedy, the Golden Globes muddle the view of the fields , but they do afford some Oscar dark-horses like Richard Gere some necessary exposure to keep their chances alive. Meanwhile, the Screen Actors Guild Awards do matter as an Oscar precursor, as do perhaps some preemptive strikes at a probable Oscar frontrunner. But how big a target is Zero Dark Thirty ? We got a pretty good idea this week. Let’s go to the Gold Lining Playbook. Best Picture Zero Dark Thirty might have sustained some damage this week in the wake of several newspaper pieces that charge the film with being pro-torture and questioning the character of the real-life inspiration for the CIA analyst portrayed in the film by Jessica Chastain . A New York Times Op-Ed piece provocatively opened, “I’m betting that Dick Cheney will love the new movie Zero Dark Thirty ,” Greg Miller in the Washington Post wrote that the real-life operative, who remains undercover, “was passed over for a promotion that many in the CIA thought would be impossible to withhold from some who played such a key role in one of the most successful operations in agency history.” A New Yorker profile of director Kathryn Bigelow questions whether the film’s waterboarding scene takes dramatic liberties with the true story. The timing of these stories is suspect. If past Oscar campaigning has taught us anything, one has to ask at this early stage: Just how far will Harvey Weinstein go to win Oscars for Silver Linings Playbook ? which did receive a Screen Actor’s Guild’s ensemble nomination, a Best Picture equivalent. Best Exotic Marigold Hotel ’s SAG ensemble nomination could boost the film’s chances for a Best Picture nomination. Its distinguished British cast (classy) and pure escapism would seem irresistible to the typical Oscar voter, which the Los Angeles Times last year found was 94 percent Caucasian and a median age of 62. The Dark Knight Rises and so perhaps its Best Picture hopes after being named among the year’s 10 best films by the American Film Institute. Amends for The Dark Knight ? That The Master was not noticed by the SAG for its powerhouse ensemble is testament to the once presumed frontrunner’s fading buzz, while the omission of the critically praised Beasts of the Southern Wild was due to its SAG ineligibility. Likewise, the shutout of Quentin Tarantino ’s wildly anticipated Django Unchained might be a simple matter of screeners not being available in time for voters, theorizes Awards Daily ’s Sasha Stone. And with its five Golden Globe nominations, including Best Picture, Django could join the Oscar Best Picture race. 1. Lincoln 2. Zero Dark Thirty 3. Silver Linings Playbook 4. Les Miserables 5. Argo 6. Beasts of the Southern Wild 7. Life of Pi 8. Best Exotic Marigold Hotel 9. The Sessions 10. Django Unchained Ones to watch: The Dark Knight Rises, The Impossible, The Master, Moonrise Kingdom, Skyfall Best Director It’s doubtful that the potshots at Zero Dark Thirty will be enough to keep Bigelow out of the running. The director and screenwriter Mark Boal returned fire against agenda-driven critics. “This movie has been and will continue to be put in political boxes,” Boal told The Wrap this week. “Before we even wrote it, some people said it was an Obama campaign commercial, which was preposterous. And now it’s pro-torture, which is preposterous.” That leaves a slot for David O’Russell , Ang Lee , or late entrant Quentin Tarantino, who received his inevitable Golden Globe nomination Thursday. Pundits still give Lee an edge. The Golden Globes’ surprise snub of Tom Hooper is another indication that this field is anything but set. The Director’s Guild nominations, a reliable Oscar precursor, will be announced on Jan. 8, two days prior to the Academy. 1. Steven Spielberg ( Lincoln ) 2. Kathryn Bigelow ( Zero Dark Thirty ) 3. Ben Affleck ( Argo ) 4. Ang Lee ( Life of Pi ) 5. Tom Hooper (Les Miserables) Ones to watch: Paul Thomas Anderson ( The Master ), Michael Haneke ( Amour ), David O. Russell ( Silver Linings Playbook ), Quentin Tarantino ( Django Unchained ) Next: Best Actor & Actress

Globes Analysis: Hooper, Russell, De Niro Snubbed & Is Waltz Really A Supporting Actor?

Early Thursday morning, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced its Golden Globe nominees , and, as you might expect, there were some surprises. Thanks to the Academy’s decision to unveil its Oscar nominations on Jan. 10, three days before Globe winners are revealed on Jan. 13, today’s nominations will have less bearing than usual on Oscar jockeying.  But don’t let anyone kid you.  Academy voters may have nothing in common with HFPA members, but they aren’t impervious to the media’s perception of who’s hot, cold or no longer in the running. With that in mind, here are a few preliminary observations about the nominations: The snubs:  Although both  Les Misérables     and Silver Linings Playbook  were nominated in the Best Musical or Comedy Picture category, those films’ directors, respectively, Tom Hooper and David O. Russell were conspicuously absent from the Best Directors category. Robert De Niro , who does his best work in years in Playbook was also not nominated. Beasts of The Southern Wild  was shut out entirely, although I doubt that will be the case with the Academy.  In some ways, the biggest surprise of all was the cold shoulder that Skyfall got despite its critical acclaim and spectacular overseas box-office success. Adele’s theme song, Skyfall , was the FHPA’s only nod to the film. Dame Judi Dench is among the nominees, but for her work in  The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel . We at Movieline are also extremely disappointed that Matthew McConaughey was not nominated for Magic Mike. The surprises:   Salmon Fishing in the Yemen which netted nominations for Best Film, Actor ( Ewan McGregor ) and Actress ( Emily Blunt ) in the Comedy or Musical category.  (The film may not have done Skyfall numbers, but it also performed surprisingly well at the box office.) Nicole Kidman’s Supporting Actress nomination for The Paperboy should at least get Academy voters to consider or reconsider her performance. Meanwhile,   Rachel Weisz’s performance in The Deep Blue Sea is turning in to the most honored acting role that nobody saw, but that could be about to change. The Head Scratcher:   I realize that the title of Quentin Tarantino’s movie is not Dr. King Schultz Unchained , but it’s a damn shame that Christoph Waltz’s  extraordinary performance as the bounty hunter who frees Django and helps him locate his wife, has been relegated to the Supporting Actor category. Although Daniel Day-Lewis is probably going to win the Best Actor, Drama category, I actually think Waltz would have had a better shot in that race because his performance and Django Unchained are both very different from the other entries. In the supporting actor category, he and co-star  Leonardo DiCaprio will inevitably cancel each other out. Technicalities and politics be damned, Waltz’s performance is as crucial to the movie as Jamie Foxx’s, and I say he got robbed here. Carmen Electra Working The Camera with ther Implants of the Day

Here is a some pics of Carmen Electra in her hotel room….having her pics taken by the paparazzi…a fact that in and of itself says that this shit is staged…cuz the last time the paparazzi was allowed anywhere near a hotel room of a star…it was Britney Spears during her crazy cry for attention I’m Bi-Polar phase…and he was having sex with her… So she’s in her workout gear, all made up, and dying her shoe like a stripper putting on a weak stage show, a career that was probably better suited for Carmen Electra, but her timing was good and she won at fucking life… But seeing her do this, like she’s not 100 fucking years old….is just awkward as fuck. Gus Van Sant On ‘Promised Land’ & His Desire ‘To Always Work’ With Matt Damon

Promised Land is not the first nor even second collaboration between filmmaker Gus Van Sant and actor Matt Damon . Van Sant helped usher in the age of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck with their Oscar-winner Good Will Hunting back in 1997 and Damon and Ben’s younger brother, Casey Affleck worked with Van Sant in Gerry . Fast forward nearly a decade and a script Damon had been collaborating on with John Krasinski from a story by Dave Eggers set in a small town needed a director. Damon, who had originally planned to direct the feature, realized he could not because of his packed schedule, so he reached out to his old friend Gus Van Sant and the result, which will head to theaters later this month, has caught the wind of Oscar chatterers. Van Sant discussed his latest pic and why he “always wants to work with Matt” during a NYC screening of Promised Land . “The genealogy of this is that John Krasinski was observing a mining operation in Alaska and spoke to Eggers later about writing a screenplay about installing wind power,” Van Sant said at the post- Promised Land screening. “Matt Damon was going to direct [ Promised Land ] himself but then decided he didn’t have time. They thought the project might go away, but then he contacted me – and a year ago, I said yes…” Van Sant said Damon packed schedule had once kept him from playing in one of the director’s most celebrated recent films. He had originally been slated to play Dan White in the 2008 Oscar-winner Milk , but again the actor’s long queue of roles interfered. But, Promised Land posed the next opportunity and the planets aligned. “When you work together you become friends and you wonder what else you can do together again and Matt and I became friends,” said Van Sant. “I felt like we’ve had successful collaborations so the idea of doing something again was really interesting… Working with Matt on this film – I always wanted to work with him on every film.” Set in a fictitious Pennsylvania town that could represent much of small town America that has taken economic blows due to de-industrialization, agribusiness consolidation and the fallout from globalization generally, the story revolves around Steve Butler (Damon) a former farm boy turned big city business guy who teams up with Sue (Frances McDormand) to sell financial prosperity to the struggling town. The sales execs offer up easy cash in return for drilling rights on their property. Though economically hard pressed, the town, along with many others across Rust Belt states, sit atop a rich resource of natural gas once thought unreachable. But through the controversial advent of fracking (fracture drilling) the resource is recoverable though at what ecological cost is not fully known. Steve and Sue think their stay in the town will be short, but a respected schoolteacher (Hal Holbrook) complicates what they think will be an easy sell when he questions the environmental risk. Steve meets a local school teacher (Rosemarie DeWitt) as they bunker down to sway in the town and things get really sticky when an environmentalist (John Krasinski) shows up and raises the stakes. “When we arrived in Pittsburgh during [pre-production] the hydraulic manufacturing companies were moving in and just happened to be having a convention at the hotel we were staying at,” Van Sant said. “So right away we had some sources we could go down and talk to. Also the people in contract talks were also the people we wanted to [scout] for locations.” The tracking process at the center of Promised Land ‘s plot has been hailed by some economic prognosticators as a short cut to energy independence while even cutting carbon emissions. But it has been criticized by others for polluting underground water-tables and even causing earthquakes in areas where they’re almost nearly unknown. Documentaries such as GasLand (2010) and others have depicted frightening scenarios of ecological degradation in the race for plentiful energy, which is not lost on Van Sant though he also sees the film as describing an even larger topic about corporations. “By default its playing into discussions that are political having fracking as a topic,” he said. “But I think the emotions of the story are about corporate maneuvering and inner corporate personnel maneuvering and it could relate to any corporation’s maneuvering including mine or Focus Features. [The film] will obviously play into politics…” [ Promised Land opens December 28 via Focus Features, trailer below.] Follow Brian Brooks on Twitter . Follow Movieline on Twitter .
