Harry Styles and Taylor Swift holding hands

“Taylor and Harry [were] being very smoochie,” a source at the party said. “They definitely [looked] like a couple.” According to the source, Swift (who is up for three Grammys) and Styles held hands and he seemed “really protective of her” and kept his arm around her during the party. Swift, 22, dressed demurely in black, and Styles, 18, watched as a cake was served and helped to sing along to “Happy Birthday” at the hotel#39;s Crosby Bar. They shared plenty of kisses, too, and didn#39;t see

REVIEW: ‘The Impossible’ Ties A Teary Bow On True Tsunami Tragedy

There’s a question that  The Impossible , the new film from Juan Antonio Bayona ( The Orphanage ), demands be asked, and that is — is it easier for audiences to relate to tragedy when it’s filtered through white characters? This is not a new issue. The movies have a long tradition of approaching stories about people of color, both at home and abroad, through the experiences of Caucasian protagonists, a habit that speaks to both (probably not unfounded) ideas about audience preferences and prejudices and the linked reality of what most of our movie stars still look like.  The Impossible is set during the 2004 tsunami that hit South East Asia the day after Christmas, killing over 230,000 people and devastating Indonesia, India, Thailand and other countries, but it’s about how one expat family on holiday weathers the tragedy, an uplifting tale of survival and endurance amidst the ruin. On one hand, yes, it feels undeniably strange and selective to approach the worst tsunami in history by way of vacationing foreigners, with representatives of the local Thai population limited to those who come to their aid. The film begins with the family — Henry (Ewan McGregor) and Maria (Naomi Watts), and their sons Lucas (Tom Holland), Simon (Oaklee Pendergast) and Thomas (Samuel Joslin) — arriving on a turbulent flight, and ends with their worse for the wear departure on another one, and the relief that accompanies that trip to safety comes with an awareness that many of the other people left behind do not have a home elsewhere to go back to. On the other hand,  The Impossible , which was written by Sergio G. Sánchez, is based on the true story of a Spanish family (transformed here into a British one) who were some of the many visitors to the area whose trip abroad turned into a nightmare. Their experiences aren’t unworthy of being dramatized simply because they’re not representative of the underreported norm, and the film recreates the horrifying saga in ways that are startlingly visceral, including a masterful sequence in which the first wave arrives like a monster in a horror flick. This story being told doesn’t mean that others are silenced, and  The Impossible benefits from taking a limited perspective on an awful larger incident rather than try for something more panoramic. What may be a more relevant question for  The Impossible is what its aims are as a movie. It’s a thoroughly and effectively sappy effort about a family searching for one another after an incredible catastrophe in the trappings of traumatic gore film — or vice versa, but either way the two halves sit uneasily beside one another on screen. As in  The Orphanage , Bayona demonstrates he has a talent for the disturbing or flat out frightening and a taste for the sentimental, and it’s perhaps because this is a film about a real and recent disaster that both feel amplified, the shock and suffering turned up to apologize for or counterbalance the unabashed drippiness that follows. From a pure filmmaking perspective, it’s the first half that really impresses and perturbs, as Henry, Maria and the kids arrive from Japan to spend their holidays in a gorgeous beachside resort in Khao Lak. They film themselves on Christmas morning opening presents on the veranda, they release a paper lantern on the beach at night, and they sit poolside getting sunburns with other Western tourists and talking about their careers while the boys frolic in the water. The tsunami takes them completely by surprise, as it did almost everyone affected, rumbling from the horizon and taking out everything in its path. We stay with Maria as she’s swept away in the chaotic mass of water, the camera sticking with her as she clutches a tree and howls in pain and upset, then cutting over to Lucas as he’s pulled in the current, the two trying to reach each other in a world suddenly upended. It’s a tour de force sequence, and one that manages to outdo a similar one in  Hereafter with little effort. But it’s what follows that’s enough to evoke a physical reaction, as Maria trudges through the wreckage, too stunned to notice the tattered muscles exposed in the gaping wound in her leg. The suffering Watts portrays — she climbs, dripping blood and crying in pain, into a tree and in a later scene coughs up what looks like lung tissue — looks all too agonizingly real, and enabling that requires a committed and deeply believable bit of acting. But watching her ordeal is enough to make you feel shaky, and almost as troubling are the sequences that follow in which Henry trudges through the splintered remains of their hotel, looking for the rest of his family, either alive or dead. The Impossible drops you into the experience of living through the tsunami in specific, achingly realized detail, then pulls back to provide a happier ending. After so much anguish, the need to balance it out with something positive is understandable, but it’s difficult not to be aware of just how much Bayona is yanking on heartstrings as he arranges for near misses and hospital misunderstandings, teary phone calls and kindly old women (Geraldine Chaplin!) providing companionship to forlorn children. Any glimpses of good amidst the destruction are welcome, but after that jarring, unforgettably immediate account of the tsunami, the latter half of  The Impossible is so disappointingly movie -ish, tying a bow on the events after portraying them too vividly to allow them to be wrapped so neatly. It wrings out tears with an industrious efficiency that leaves you feeling manhandled after the exhilarating, terrifying footage that’s unfolded before. Follow Alison Willmore on Twitter . You Can’t Be Serious: Slorey Tennessee Becky Admits She Accused Her Online Boo-Thang Of Date Rape Because She Wasn’t Pleased With His Johnson

Is there NOTHING these hoes won’t do nowadays?!? Tennessee Woman Accuses Man With Rape Because The Sex Was Bad A Clarksville woman has been charged after coming clean to police and admitting she lied about being raped. Police said Lynette Lee admitted to a Clarksville detective last week the rape claim she had made earlier in the month was false. She said she had only made the claim because she did not enjoy the date. On November 23, Lee had told police that after meeting up with a man she met online at Meetme.com, she and the man had gone back to a hotel together. According to a report, Lee said once at the hotel the man removed her clothes and, despite her protests, had sex with her. The suspect in the case was called in by Clarksville police and told officers he and Lee had been out on a date and engaged in consensual sex. During a second interview with police on November 27, Lee told the detective she wanted to drop the entire case because it was a lie. Police said Lee told them she had lied about the incident “because she did not enjoy it and it was bad.” Police charged her with filing a false report. Bond was set at $2,000. Nah, f**k that bond, these hoes got to learn that fake rape allegations are no joke. If this woman really does get raped one day will anyone believe her, or even care? Image via Police Handout

I know almost about everyone who has wrote a MyBieberExperience…

I know almost about everyone who has wrote a MyBieberExperience always says “I never thought I would be writing one of my own”, but I honestly never thought I would be writing one. It all started about a year ago with my best friend. I have been a fan of Justin from the beginning. My friend and I were in the city over the New Years holiday and we knew Justin was going to be performing in Time Square. We begged our parents to let us stay in Times Square to watch him perform but they said it was too much of a hassle. Anyways we were so devastated, but our parents promised us next time Justin came in concert, they would try there best to get us meet and greets and good seats. When we found out about Justin’s Believe Tour we told them right away. We ended up not finding out that we got MEET & GREATS AND 2ND ROW SEATS till 20 days before the concert at Madison Square Garden! Finally the day arrived. We got our hair done at a salon and started our way to the city to check into our hotel. Once we arrived at the venue we waited for our wristbands. Then we got in the line to MEET JUSTIN BIEBER. We were second to last. Finally it was our turn to go in. When I first saw Justin it was like a dream. I stopped walking and just stared at him. All that could come out of my mouth was “JUSTIN.” He said, “Hey sweetie how are you?” I couldnt say anything else but “I LOVE YOU.” Then he laughed and said “I love you too” and told me to go stand next to him for the picture. Once we took the picture I wrapped my arms around him and gave him a side hug. Then I left. As soon as I got out of the room with Justin I broke down. It was the best minute of my life, I couldn’t believe I just met my idol JUSTIN BIEBER. The one I sing and dance to in my room, the one who makes me happy when I’m sad, the one who gives me hope to BELIEVE AND NEVER SAY NEVER. After that we went to the concert and had amazing seats. JUSTIN SANG PART OF “BE ALRIGHT” AND POINTED TO ME. I couldn’t control my emotions. It was the best day of my life. I could relive it over and over again. If your reading this Justin I just want to tell you thank-you.  See the rest here: I know almost about everyone who has wrote a MyBieberExperience…

I never thought I’d write a Bieber experience, but here is mine!…

I never thought I’d write a Bieber experience, but here is mine! My name is Éveline and I’m 16 years old. I’m from a really small town in Canada. It all started in May 2012, 186 days before Justin’s concert in Montreal. We found out that the Believe Tour tickets would sell out fast. I learned that there was going to be VIP packages. I would have done anything for them, I worked so hard on getting the money. My sister was in charge of the tickets since I had classes at lunch time. After waiting a while, she came back to me and said, “Éveline I’m so sorry I didn’t get VIPs..” and then I was like, “Aww no that sucks! Arg, I wanted this so much.” My sister replied quickly and said, “HAHA JUST KIDDING, YOU GOT FRONT ROW TICKETS AND MEET & GREET.” Oh my Bieber. I could not believe it, I just started to cry like crazy in school. The days passed by and everyday I was telling my friends the countdown until Justin’s concert. I waited since 2009 and finally it would be happening! It all went down on November 26 th 2012. After a 367 km drive, we got at the venue around 1 p.m. It was the coldest day ever and we waited so long. I could barely feel my body. Near the parking we saw Dan and Jeremy. They didn’t stop for pictures but they were so cute. Once Justin’s bus came in, it was so crazy how girls were screaming! Finally 3:45 arrived! We arrived where all the VIP’s were. I still couldn’t believe that I WAS VIP..wow. We checked in, they gave us wristbands, told the rules, saw Kenny and then they took us downstairs  and got in line. We waited and waited. Knowing Justin’s dream was to win a Grammy Award, I had made him a Grammy trophy by myself. It took my parents and I one week to put together but it was so wroth it! The result was perfect. I really hoped he’d like it and that it made him smile. I wrote: Justin Drew Bieber. Best Idol in all industries – all time. Always making his beliebers proud,” and glued it on the Grammy. Once the wait was over, people were going really fast in and out the M&G! We saw girls crying after meeting Justin, it was so cute. After a few minutes or seconds, it was my turn. I was alone so I got in the little tent where Justin was. I was shaking so much. I had my Grammy in hand and the security went and was about to take it from me. I said that I wanted to show it to Justin since it took me hours to make! I got in with it and gave it to Justin. His eyes grew big  and his mouth opened. He looked at me and said, “Wow! You got me a Grammy? Thank you! That’s great cause I’m not gonna win one.” Aww, I was about to cry. He’s the bestestest, he WILL win one! Then we took the picture and he smiled a lot in it , I was so happy when I saw it. His smile means so much to me.  I was about to go but then Justin said a few words to me. “You look pretty!” Woah, that just made my life. I turned back and hugged him saying a huge thank you! Then security took my arm and I had to go. These words are forever in my head, he told me that I looked pretty. It gave me so much self-confidence coming from Justin. He means the world to me. I got out and started crying. We waited for the concert to begin. The Wanted performed – they were amazing and have so much talent! Carly was next and performed so good! She has such a beautiful voice. After the countdown it was time for Justin. His moves, voice , his face, his abs, his outfits, everything was so magical aka the Believe Tour! It was the best day of my life. I’d do anything to live that day again. November 26 th 2012 will always stay in my best memories , it was the best day of my life. -Éveline (@BHBquebec) Original post: I never thought I’d write a Bieber experience, but here is mine!…

Hi my name’s Esma and I’m from NY and this is MBE….

Hi my name’s Esma and I’m from NY and this is MBE. On Nov. 12th I went to go see Justin at Barclays Center and I got meet and greets from Allison. I was freaking out and crying all day long I didn’t know what to do! But when the time came, we were on line for the meet and greets and I met some of the crew: Kenny, Dan Kanter, and we saw/met Adam Braun too! Also Scrappy wanted to meet me so I could give him my gift I got for him and he DM’ed me asking me where to meet and when I’ll be at the arena, and I told him where I was but never got a reply. But I saw him walking past the M&G line & yelled his name and held my bag up for him and he came and took a picture and said “I’ve been looking all over for you!!” He was so funny and sweet, and I also gave him my letter to Allison thanking her for everything! After a couple minutes he gave me a shoutout on Twitter which I thought was pretty sick! So we waited more and more for the M&G but when the time came, the curtains fell. So we lost about 45 minutes and had to move to another location, which we started about an hour late and once it started they rushed us so we only got like 4 seconds with him since we started around 6:30. BUT OH MY GOD WHEN I ENTERED THE ROOM, HE WAS JUST AMAZING AND PERFECT I CANT EVEN EXPLAIN!!!!! I entered the room with my face like :O (a big open mouth/shocked face) and he looked at my mouth so I covered it with my hand and he started to giggle at me and pulled me to him. We took a picture and I stood on my tippy toes and he laughed cause I’m so short. After that he just half hugged me bye and omg, it was the best 5-10 seconds of my life. I started bawling my eyes out after! But not over yet, once the concert started (I had floor seats but not first row, kinda the middle/back), I couldn’t control myself so before it started. I just RAN to the front with my friend. It was so worth it cause I GOT FRONT ROW!! Literally when he started singing he touched my hand and I saw his sweat dripping. It was the best experience of my life. He’s so amazing live and amazing front row! I’m so surprised I got to accomplish this in one night and finally got my photo with him! And to top it all off, after the show when I came back home I tweeted at him saying his concert in Brooklyn was amazing and he RT’ed me! For the first time in 4 years he noticed me a couple times all in just one night! It was seriously the best experience ever. He’s amazing and to everyone else if you’ve never met him before: DON’T GIVE UP! Cause the longer you wait, the more it’ll be worth, and every second is amazing once you meet him! And never say never cause anything can happen -@esmailyas More: Hi my name’s Esma and I’m from NY and this is MBE….

My name is Priscilla and I absolutely cannot believe I got…

My name is Priscilla and I absolutely cannot believe I got followed and met Justin all in one day. Around 2:00 p.m. on Saturday November 24th I was just tweeting Justin because he decided to go on a Twitter spree.  I was just joking around, never thinking he would actually see my tweets. I went to click my mentions and they were going absolutely nuts.  I literally had no idea what was going on until I scanned my followers and saw @justinbieber is now following you.  I had no idea he tweeted me because my twitter feed froze my computer. Everyone was texting me tweeting me pictures of the tweet he sent me saying “never say never.”  I literally let out sounds that were not even human. Fast forward to that night and about 20 girls were waiting outside his Toronto hotel.  Everyone saw Justin walk outside the hotel and he got into Drake’s car.   While everyone was surrounding the car, he decided to run out of the car back into the hotel through the front door and onto his tour bus. I swear he thinks he’s a ninja . His security was getting so mad at everyone for pushing so they pushed us all back so Justin could go into his actual car. He drove off and came back about three hours later but nobody really noticed except a few girls that were beside the door that he was wearing a girl’s sun hat. After about two hours of waiting which seemed like forever he left the hotel with Chaz and Alfredo and he rolled down the window and was talking to us. I was the first one that got to hold his hand. He came back about an hour and a half later and ran into his tour bus. Alfredo came out in just shorts and a t shirt and gave us hugs but he took pictures with all of us even though he was freezing. Finally Justin came out of the tour bus and said hi to all of us. We asked him for a picture and he said yes!  My friend got an individual picture with him but then Justin said they really had to be somewhere so he didn’t have time. We all got in a group and I stood right beside Justin. When we all pulled away from the picture, his exact words were “Wow, you guys all look beautiful tonight.” He left and all of us internally died. I checked my phone about 5 minutes after and he tweeted “I see u.” That tweet was sent out literally a minute before he came out of the bus and I died he tweeted about us!  I swear this day was literally the most perfect day of my life and it proves that if you try hard enough, you will accomplish your goals. From getting followed to meeting him, I don’t think anything will top it.   -@priszimnicki Follow this link: My name is Priscilla and I absolutely cannot believe I got…

REVIEW: Psycho Killer, WTF? You Better Run, Run Away From ‘The Collection’

Strictly for auds who enjoy the grisly Grand Guignol spectacle of the Saw franchise but could do without the moral lectures and melodramatic mythology, The Collection is an energetic but utterly weightless exercise in slice-and-dice cinema. This sequel to 2009 chiller The Collector is in many ways bigger (more characters, more locations, more carnage), but in no way better than its predecessor. Theatrical is merely a pit-stop on the road to home viewing for a product with niche appeal even among horror buffs. Picking up where The Collector left off, The Collection establishes an anonymous urban locale terrorized by a psycho killer with no method to his madness. Without the luxury of the first film’s slow-burn opening act, the sequel leans on pre-existing iconography to build tension: the Collector’s black mask obscuring everything but his beady eyes and predatory mouth; the red trunk he uses to “collect” a lone survivor of each massacre; an ominous tripwire connected to something sharp and lethal. Once filmmakers (and Saw sequel alums) Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton hurriedly introduce new protagonist Elena (Emma Fitzpatrick), it’s off to the races for nonstop, nonsensical brutality. Elena and pals head to a secret underground club (the password is “nevermore,” natch) where the Collector waits in the shadows with a plan to orchestrate mass murder. In what should be one of the film’s standout setpieces, dozens of clubgoers are simultaneously slaughtered by a massive combine-harvester blade rigged to descend from the ceiling. But the sequence is little more than a jumble of frenetically cut-together closeups, and the first of many examples of the film’s “more is more” philosophy coming into conflict with the constraints of a low budget. While Elena is dragged off to the villain’s secret lair, the pic reintroduces the first film’s scrappy survivor, Arkin (Josh Stewart), who manages to break free only to be recruited by Elena’s mysterious protector, Lucello (Lee Tergesen). Lucello has assembled a team to hunt down the Collector and rescue Elena, and they need Arkin’s help. But this time he’s on the Collector’s home turf: The rundown Hotel Argento (wink, wink), a more elaborate version of the booby-trapped mansion from part one. If The Collector was inspired by the suspenseful setup of Wait Until Dark , Dunstan and Melton take their cues this time from one of the great genre sequels: James Cameron’s Aliens , with its team of tough-talking grunts navigating perilous terrain as they battle an unstoppable foe. Still, the raison d’etre remains gore, gore and more gore. There’s no attempt to explain how the Collector sets up his elaborate traps, and only the vaguest speculation as to what motivates his insatiable bloodlust, which could be frightening if his actions weren’t so preposterous. Performance and tech credits are adequate by genre standards, though the only imaginative contribution comes in the design of the Collector’s depraved displays of disemboweled victims and stitched-together body parts. He’s quite the interior decorator. Pic manages to end on a satisfying note that may or may not lead to a third installment. Perhaps the limited amount of title variations — The Collected “? The Collectors ? — will spare everyone the unnecessary trouble. Follow Movieline on Twitter.
