During Wednesday’s GOP presidential debate, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told Politico moderator John Harris that he believes the media want to encourage infighting among Republicans in order to smooth the way for President Obama’s reelection. Gingrich stated: “I for one and I hope that all of my friends up here are going to repudiate every effort of the news media to get Republicans to fight… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : The Blaze Discovery Date : 08/09/2011 02:56 Number of articles : 2

The Hill reports that the Congressional Budget Office has scored the Boehner debt ceiling plan as reducing the deficit more than Harry Reid’s plan — and that’s without resorting to gimmickry regarding assumptions about war spending: The debt-ceiling plan authored by House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) cuts the deficit by more than the plan by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) if an assumption… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : The Weekly Standard Blog Discovery Date : 29/07/2011 21:45 Number of articles : 2

US Government shut down 2011

Congressional leaders have made three trips to the White House in the last 24 hours, but still there#39;s a lot of distance between Democrats and Republicans. House Speaker Rep. John Boehner said, “There is no agreement on a number and there#39;s no agreement on the policy issues that are contained with this.” Congress and the President are still trying to reach a spending deal. But can they agree before the federal government shuts down? There isn#39;t much time. Just over 24 hours from now,

It seems former House Speaker, and current minority leader, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) had a moment of candor on the House floor today while debating an appropriations bill. She admitted what she really thinks of the GOP when it comes to women and children — according to her, “Republicans put women and children last”: (via Greg Hengler ) Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : The Blaze Discovery Date : 15/02/2011 22:25 Number of articles : 2

Newt Gingrich Slammed For Saying Obama May Hold ‘Kenyan, Anti-Colonial’ Worldview

Fueling the myth mongering that Barack Obama is not a natural-born U.S. citizen, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said in a recent interview that the president may follow a “Kenyan, anti-colonial” worldview. Speaking to the National Review, Gingrich pointed to a recent Forbes article by conservative writer Dinesh D'Souza which attempted to trace the origins of Obama's personal and political philosophies. “What if [Obama] is so outside our comprehension, that only if you understand Kenyan, anti-colonial behavior, can you begin to piece together [his actions]?” Gingrich asked. “That is the most accurate, predictive model for his behavior.” “This is a person who is fundamentally out of touch with how the world works, who happened to have played a wonderful con, as a result of which he is now president,” Gingrich added. “I think he worked very hard at being a person who is normal, reasonable, moderate, bipartisan, transparent, accommodating — none of which was true,” Gingrich continues. “In the Alinksy tradition, he was being the person he needed to be in order to achieve the position he needed to achieve. … He was authentically dishonest.” Considering D'Souza's and Gingrich's prominence within conservative intellectual circles, it stands to reason that their article and interview respectively, will be much discussed in the week ahead. Certainly, it appears, Democrats aren't shying away from pointing to the content as evidence that the GOP is top-heavy with extreme rhetoric and elements. “This crushes the hopes of those who thought Gingrich could bring ideas instead of smears to what the GOP was offering,” said DNC Press Secretary Hari Sevugan. “He's not a reasonable man that some thought he could be. He's proven he's just like the rest of them. With a worldview shaped by the most radical and fringe elements of the Republican Party, which are more dominant with each passing day.” added by: TimALoftis

Chris Matthews and Howard Fineman Have Mutual Obamagasm on Hardball

Chris Matthews and Howard Fineman on Friday had a mutual Obamagasm while cameras rolled on MSNBC’s “Hardball.” As the adorable couple chatted about the Koran burning scandal, and of course blamed the entire controversy on Republicans such as House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Oh.), former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, the Newsweek columnist unashamedly started the love-fest. “Well, sitting there in the press conference today with President Obama, you could almost hear sort of the classical music in the background,” cooed Fineman. “It was a stately thing, and a mature discussion.” “I get you,” echoed Matthews. “This is an Oxford don, he’s so well-turned, he comes in there elegantly, presenting himself elegantly, presenting himself on a very high-level tone.” One imagines both of these so-called journalists needed a cigarette and a shower during the break (video follows with transcript and commentary): HOWARD FINEMAN, NEWSWEEK: Well, sitting there in the press conference today with President Obama, you could almost hear sort of the classical music in the background. You know, I don’t mean to be facetious… CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: No, I get you… FINEMAN: But, you know what I mean. It was a stately thing, and a mature discussion, you could agree or disagree, let’s all be reasonable about this… MATTHEWS: This is an Oxford don, he’s so well turned… FINEMAN: Yeah! MATTHEWS: …he comes in there elegantly, presenting himself elegantly, presenting himself on a very high-level tone… FINEMAN: And he gave a very… MATTHEWS: …against this menagerie… FINEMAN: Yeah! MATTHEWS: …that’s biting at his heals. FINEMAN: That’s why I’m saying, those people that you cited, Boehner and Gingrich and Palin, are not playing the same ballgame that Barack Obama is. MATTHEWS: I shouldn’t them the Three Stooges, they’re a lot smarter than that. I think they know it. They’re not stooges. FINEMAN: Sure they know what they’re doing. MATTHEWS: Stooges are the people that buy their act. Honestly, do you think anyone  at MSNBC is the slightest bit embarrassed to see male journalists gushing and fawning over the president this way? Or do the folks running this pathetic “news” outlet share such sentiments and therefore think men behaving like teenage girls is appropriate?

Networks That Found Bad Omens at CPAC Skips Pelosi Facing Heckler Protest at Liberal Confab

For the last several years, TV news stars have found electric moments at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) worth predicting how Rush Limbaugh and other conservatives would soon be driving the Republican Party into an electoral ditch. So it was noteworthy that no network except Fox News found it worth a story that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi got booed and heckled Tuesday afternoon at a liberal version of CPAC. Dana Milbank of The Washington Post relayed on Wednesday that Pelosi tried to engage the hecklers unsuccessfully, then pledged to continue her speech: And she did, for an excruciating half-hour. The hecklers screamed themselves hoarse, dominating Pelosi’s speech through her concluding lines: “I want to say thank you to Campaign for America’s Future for your relentlessness, for your dissatisfaction, for your impatience. That’s what I see every day in my district.” Political movements tend to unravel gradually, but on Tuesday this one seemed to be imploding in real time. As the “tea party” right has gained strength, Obama’s hope-and-change left has faded. The frustration has crystallized at the gathering this week of demoralized activists.  On Wednesday, PBS NewsHour anchor Jim Lehrer whistled right past Pelosi’s heckled event, reporting on coming environmental-regulation bills: “In the meantime, members of the House began working on their own proposals. Speaker Nancy Pelosi has asked committee chairs to draft new regulatory legislation by the Fourth of July.” MSNBC’s Ed Schultz suggested he would discuss it on Wednesday night’s Ed Show: “Also, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, well, she got heckled. Not by the Tea Partiers, but by progressives. I`ve got a ‘Rapid Fire’ response to all of that.” Later, he listed it as a topic again: Let’s get some “Rapid Fire” response from our panel on these stories tonight. Liberal activists are not happy with Congressional Democrats. At a progressive conference, a group angry about the lack of action on disability rights booed, heckled and shouted down House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The Tea Partiers got a big win in Nevada. Sharron Angle will challenge Harry Reid this fall. And Sarah Palin says President Obama should call her for advice on how to handle the oil disaster? But in the midst of fighting about Angle and Palin, Schultz never returned to Pelosi.

Pelosi Slams BP for ‘Lack of Integrity’

On Thursday, as President Barack Obama was preparing to meet with the families of the 11 people killed in the explosion on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was ripping into BP for its sketchy business practices as she talked to reporters at a White House press conference.

Newt Gingrich, Carpetbagger For God, Made a Movie About the Pope

Not the current pope, alas, who could actually use some conservative hagiographical spin right about now, but the previous pope — John Paul II, whose efforts to combat totalitarianism through faith are chronicled in the Gingrich-produced documentary Nine Days That Changed the World . The former House Speaker and Georgia Republican has traveled with the film to the late pope’s homeland of Poland, where he spoke Wednesday of the political change that Catholicism can effect under Communist regimes in Cuba and China. And, one can only presume, in America, where the film will make the university rounds this fall just in time to combat the Obama-flavored socialist scourge jockeying for public office. Hold it just a second, Newt — I thought you were a Baptist ?

Congressional Budget Office releases its analysis of health care bill.

Comprehensive health care reform will cost the federal government $940 billion over a ten-year period, but will increase revenue and cut other costs by a greater amount, leading to a reduction of $130 billion in the federal deficit over the same period, according to an analysis by the Congressional Budget Office, a Democratic source tells HuffPost. It will cut the deficit by $1.2 trillion over the next ten years. The source said it also extends Medicare’s solvency by at least 9 years and reduces the rate of its growth by 1.4 percent, while closing the doughnut hole for seniors, meaning there will no longer be a gap in coverage of medication. The CBO also estimated it would extend coverage to 32 million additional people. The CBO score is the last piece House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was waiting on before putting the puzzle together on the House floor. A contingent of Blue Dogs has been holding out support, insisting that the bill be fully paid for and not increase the deficit. The numbers give a major boost to Pelosi and her leadership team, which can now begin the whip count in earnest and can specifically point to the cost savings. (You can read more of this article on the Huffington Post .) Personally I am impressed that the bill does as much as it does.
