Source: Courtesy ABC / Courtesy ABC ABC To Air Black Panther Special Kudos to ABC for stepping up with some out of the box content! The network is set to air some very special programming tonight. Check out the promo trailer below: Here’s what to expect: “The FBI and the Panther” – In 1969 a running battle between the Department of Justice, the Nixon White House and the Black Power movement reached its height. Patterns of infiltration, wiretapping and violence marked that year. The special episode features powerful firsthand accounts that chronicle how the Black Panther Party established itself and became so influential in 1969, how their agenda evolved, what the Panthers represented to African Americans and why the White House deemed them a threat. “The FBI and the Panther” airs TUESDAY, MAY 14 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network and will be available on streaming and on demand. The documentary spotlights the gripping and deeply personal story of the life and death of a charismatic 21 year-old Panther leader named Fred Hampton. Hampton was gunned down as he slept, having been drugged and set up by a police informant. As the bullets flew his pregnant girlfriend tried to shield him with her body. A full 50 years after Fred’s death his then unborn child, Fred Hampton Jr., returns to the scene with his mother who recalls in vivid detail her attempts to save him. “The FBI and the Panther” also details the story of the violent raid on Panther headquarters in Los Angeles that year, from the perspective of Black Panthers who were involved and an LAPD officer wounded in the shootout. Young Black Lives Matter leaders, along with former police and former Black Panthers, describe a violent battle that unfolded between the FBI and the militant, charismatic and ill-fated young Black Panthers. Black Lives Matter founder Patrisse Cullors and recording artist Tariq Trotter of The Roots talk about how this chapter of American history continues to shape the story of race in America today. The Series Director and Executive Producer is Jeanmarie Condon for Lincoln Square Productions. Fatima Curry is Senior Producer on “The FBI and the Panther” and is directed by Cyndee Readdean. We can’t wait to see this! Will you be watching?

Hell Hath No Fury Like A Targaryen Scorned: ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8, Episode 5 Recap

Source: Helen Sloan/HBO / HBO C ersei thought she was the baddest bitch in all of Westeros but quickly learned the hard way her reign as the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms is coming to an end. The final straw? Her ordering Sir Zombie Gregor to chop off Daenerys’ trusted advisor Missandei’s head to flex her muscle. The Mother of Dragons’ had that look in her eyes, and it was not the glimmer of hope we were used to seeing but that of rage. The Targaryen gene fully activated and the Mad Queen was born in Game of Thrones penultimate episode. Varys Was Right About Daenerys, Unfortunately For Him Source: Helen Sloan/HBO / HBO The episode opens up with Varys drafting up a note detailing that Jon is the true heir to the throne. We immediately get hints of Dany’s paranoia kicking in, and Tyrion doesn’t help matters by dropping a dime on his friend Lord Varys snitching like Tekashi69 that the castrated master of informants planned to spread the word about her relations with her nephew. For a man with no nuts he sure does have a massive pair for even attempting to go against his Queen. Auntie Dany makes the call and sends Grey Worm to go collect Varys and puts him into chains. It doesn’t take too long this episode to see another cast member go this time. Daenerys gives the word and orders her last remaining dragon to incinerate her former advisor as an example to those who even think about spreading her dirty little incestuous secret. Poor Jon watches in utter shock as he is witnessing first hand the woman he bent the knee to give in to the madness that infests her blood. Jon, after witnessing the woman he once loved descent into madness, has a private talk with the Queen. Snow insisted to Varys before he got turned into a deep-fried turkey, and Daenerys numerously he does not want to sit on the throne. He also no longer has any desire to get in his Aunt’s guts much to her dismay. She takes the hint and decides rather than ruling with love, she will do so using fear as her biggest tool. Madness Activated, Daenerys Burns It All Source: Helen Sloan/HBO / HBO Cersei has the numbers, the golden army, Euron with the Iron Fleet and dragon repellent in the form of giant crossbows called scorpions. She should be confident as hell—her new boy toy shot Rhaegal out the sky quite quickly. Well despite being down to just Drogon, sorry the more dragons theory didn’t pan out, Daenerys came through to King’s Landing and went ham like LeBron James in game 6 of Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics . One dragon, no problem was the motto as the Mother of Dragons lived up to her title and quickly took out Euron and the Iron Fleet. She then set her sights on the Scorpions set up around the kingdom and destroyed them. With those obstacles out the way, she laid waste to the Golden Army and the front gate they were standing in front of. Cersei’s forces knew they were in trouble and quickly decided they didn’t want any of the smoke Daenerys brought to their front door. They threw down their swords to the relief of Jon Snow and sounded the bell signaling a full surrender. While this should have marked the end of the one-sided battle, Tyrion who begged his Queen to show mercy before the lopsided skirmish knew the shit was about to hit the fan. Source: Helen Sloan/HBO / HBO As the bells rang, they probably signaled each person and dragon she lost that was dear to her in her head. Peace was not a part of the plan, and thus the Mad Queen was born. Anybody could get it and that included women, children as well as soldiers who just surrendered. To make matters worse, Khaleesi going off the deep end gave Grey Worm who’s been itching to kick some ass after watching his cuddle bae’s dome get chopped smooth off, permission to go off. The remaining Dothraki, Unsullied and soldiers from Winterfell also joined in the fun with poor Jon absolutely appalled at what he was witnessing. While King’s Landing and its occupants are literally being turned to ash, Cersei is definitely watching from a tower. For some reason, she believes there still is a chance to win, her maester Qyburn had to convince her otherwise telling her its time to get the hell out of dodge before she is turned into a shish kebob. With King’s Landing literally burning and the ash coming down like snowflakes it harkens back to Daenerys’ vision she had while trapped inside The House of Undying. A Fitting End For Jaime and Cersei Source: Helen Sloan/HBO / HBO Jaime left Brienne in tears after busting down her virgin cakes and taking off for King’s Landing to link back up with his twin/lover Cersei. We learn early in the episode he doesn’t make it too far because he gets captured— which Daenerys reveals to Tyrion while she berates him for failing. Tyrion has a soft spot for his brother because Jaime helped him stay alive as a youth. So to pay it forward he decides to help him escaped despite knowing this can mean being turned into a roasted mini marshmallow. The one-handed Lannister takes the mini hand of the of King up on his offer and immediately makes it to King’s Landing. His journey to his incestuous lover is impeded when the doors to the Red Keep are closed forcing him to find another way. He eventually bumps into Euron who somehow survived Drogon’s assault. The two battle out with Euron looking to earn the honor of being the man to take out the Kingslayer. The two get into an intense fight, and Jaime gets wounded severely, but he manages to get the better of Uncle Euron delivering the fatal blow. With Euron out of the way its time to go save Cersei. Source: Helen Sloan/HBO / HBO Cersei is all alone at the moment with her hand Qyburn being hilariously killed by his creation Sir Gregor because he got in the way of his fight with his brother The Hound. The once strong and ruthless queen is now desperate and scared just looking for a way to survive the attack. Jaime finally catches up with her, and they head for the keep, but their road to freedom is blocked off. The two embraced with Jaime consoling his sobbing sister who clearly didn’t think she and her child was going to die. They are both crushed with the castle falling on top of them. Now while many will argue they got a pleasant death they did not deserve, this is actually a fitting death for both of them. They both basked in confidence and to see them go out as mere shadows of their cocky selves was a treat despite Daenerys not getting the opportunity to deliver the final blow. Arya and The Hound Look To Settle The Score Source: Helen Sloan/HBO / HBO Arya wants to kill Cersei really badly and cross her off her list, but she won’t get the chance. BUT it looks like her list got a new name added to it as she witnessed the merciless devastation at the hands of Mad Queen and her giant fire-breathing lizard. Meanwhile, The Hound finally looks to get his revenge on his brother for burning his face as a child. The two giant knights of House Clegane go at it with Sandor learning that his brother is pretty much indestructible. Things look bleak with The Hound almost suffering the same fate as Oberyn Martell at the hands of the Mountain. With some quick thinking, The Hound pulls out a dagger and stabs Sir Gregor in the eye before his undead brother can push in his eyeballs. Source: Helen Sloan/HBO / HBO Realizing this battle is going to be fruitless, The Hound decides to go out in a blaze of gory pushing Sir Gregor through a wall with both of them falling to a fiery death. Arya who managed to survive Drogon’s assault on King’s Landing encounters a horse and hops on it. We can only wonder if she is heading back to Winterfell to tell Sansa or to Dragonstone to take out Daenerys. Next week’s final episode of is going to be L I T!

Hell Hath No Fury Like A Targaryen Scorned: ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8, Episode 5 Recap

Game of Thrones: Can the Series Finale Save This Uneven Season?

Well, it finally happened. On Sunday night’s episode of Game of Thrones Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, First of Her Name and Perpetrator of Plot Twists broke bad and roasted more peasants than a medeival insult comic.  Like many, many others, we long ago predicted that the Khaleesi would make a heel turn and be revealed as the show’s final villain, but if Twitter is any indication, the events of “The Bell” came as a complete shock to many viewers. In one sense, this is hard to understand, as the show has been hinting at a darker side to Dany ever since her very first rants about “laying waste to armies” and taking what’s hers “with fire and blood” way back when her dragons were about the size of pet iguanas. But at the same time, the surprise is quite understandable. After all, prior to this week’s episode, the Khaleesi was arguably the show’s best-loved character, and many considered her ascendancy to the Iron Throne to he a foregone conclusion. As a result, creator’s D.B. Weiss and David Benioff have been accused of prioritizing shock value over organic character development with their decision to have Dany embrace her family’s mercurial nature and unleash unspeakable violence on innocenr civilians and soldiers who had already surrendered. If that were the case — if a character who had been built up as the savior of a people and an incorruptible force for good suddenly embracec wickedness out of nowhere — then these critics would be right to complain. But Dany’s turn was hinted at so often that many speculate it would never happen simply because it would be too predictable for a show that’s always trafficked in surprises. So yes, you have one camp griping that the character’s shift came out of nowhere, and another complaining that it was entirely too obvious. And in that sense, the clash over Dany’s true nature highlights the biggest challenge facing the Game of Thrones as we approach the show’s wildly anticipated finale: It’s nearly impossible for any show to conclude in a way that will leave an audience of millions universally satisfied — and that task is even harder for a series that revels in moral ambiguity and long ago raised the bar in terms of gut-punch surprises. Don’t get us wrong, there were legitimate complaints to be made about “The Bells”: Several major figures behaved in ways that flew in the face of eight seasons’ worth of character development. Some combatants seemed to be shrouded in impenetrable plot armor (We’re looking at you, Arya!) while others met frustratingly anti-climactic fates. (Evil genius Cersei Lannister is felled by freakin’ falling rocks? Really?) But the main issue that many fans seem worried about is the climactic battle for the Iron Throne will likely be fought between Daenerys Targaryen and her conflicted neph-boo Jon Snow. This is a baffling concern, not only becsause the show has been foreshadowing such a conflict for quite some time, but also because Weiss and Benioff insist that they’re staying true to the “broadstrokes” of the ending mapped out by George R.R. Martin’s several years ago. Yes, they’ve made some missteps along the way (The less said about the lighting for the Battle of Winterfell, the better.), but we’ll continue to place our faith that the kings who led us this far will be wise and just in wrapping up TV’s most ambitious story. Emails Defend Accused Murderer Hannah Payne In Deadly Georgia Hit And Run

Read more:

Source: WSB-TV Screenshot A series of emails have been sent to NewsOne purportedly from friends and acquaintances of the motorist in Georgia who saw a hit and run car accident that ended with a driver being shot dead Tuesday evening. Hannah Payne , 21, reportedly saw the collision that police in Clayton County described as a minor fender bender before she followed Kenneth Herring , 62, for a mile, blocked his car with hers, approached him and killed him with her gun. That was after she called 911, which police said typically advise callers against approaching people they’re calling about. Payne is white and Herring is Black. Hannah Payne has been charged with murder for killing a Black man who she saw get in a hit and run car accident. When Kenneth Herring fled, she drove after him, blocked his car, called 911, got out of her car and ended up shooting him to death. https://t.co/aEh95kbNP8 — NewsOne (@newsone) May 10, 2019 Her arrest and subsequent charge of one count of murder without malice resulted in social media users, in particular, claiming the killing was racist in nature. Considering the egregious nature of the charges and the current racial climate in the U.S., tweets that suspected racism were all but obligatory. How do you follow someone for an hour, block their car, punch them, finally shooting and killing them, and be charged with “Murder without Malice “? #femalezimmerman Hannah Payne! — DeirdreIV (@IvDeirdre) May 10, 2019 #HannahPayne literally interjected herself into a situation that she was not involved in and took the laws into her own hands. #KennethHerring is dead because of a minor fender bender. Only black/ #ADoS people end up dead in situations like this https://t.co/5I5bg5OWi2 — Racist Of The Week (@RacistOTW) May 10, 2019 Not why did #HannahPayne follow Kenneth Herring for a mile with a gun Not why did Hannah Payne take the law into her own hands? Not why is #KennethHerring dead for a minor fender This is the question that he decided to ask? #FBA #ADoS #Tangibles2020 #B1 https://t.co/p5wSVHOPmy — P. Against The World (@chillin662) May 10, 2019 However, emails have been sent to this writer claiming that Payne was the farthest thing from racist and accusing NewsOne of falsely reporting that she was racist. (NewsOne never reported she was racist.) One email said that the mere suggestion Payne could be behind a racist shooting of a Black man was ludicrous in part because her Facebook page showed she had many Black friends. However, a search for Payne’s Facebook turned up empty and a request by NewsOne to interview the people who sent the emails was denied. Because of that, the emails sent to NewsOne have been paraphrased and not quoted. Another lengthier email said the comparisons NewsOne made between Payne and George Zimmerman were misguided. Zimmerman was the volunteer neighborhood watchman in Florida who followed and killed Trayvon Martin in 2012 even after a 911 operator told him not to approach the unarmed Black teen. He was eventually acquitted of murder under Florida’s controversial Stand Your Ground law. Georgia also has a Stand Your Ground law , though it was unclear if Payne planned to use that for her defense. The email went on to add that Payne has always been romantically attracted to Black males, using that as a primary reason why the shooting could not have possibly been racially motivated. Another email said Payne lived in a neighborhood where people of all races live together. It was unclear where Payne called home, but the latest Census data for Clayton County showed that more than 71 percent of its residents were listed as being Black. One email blamed Herring, a senior citizen who may or may not have even realized he had hit another car, for driving for a mile after the collision despite there being no reports that he sped away. If Herring did speed away, that would presumably mean that Payne had to drive faster (read: speed) than he was driving just to catch up with him before she used her car to block him in. Insurance companies have long advised drivers who witness a hit and run to document the license plate number of the offending driver and report it to authorities. For instance, State Farm said on its website that drivers involved in and witnesses of a hit and run should not “follow the fleeing driver. Leaving the scene of the accident could put you in a compromising position: You’ll miss getting eyewitness accounts — and police could question who’s really at fault.” The email also wondered why Herring would make such a decision to keep driving. The email insisted that had roles been reversed, Payne would have remained on the scene of her car accident. It went on to say that she carried her legally licensed gun to protect herself from people like Herring. The author of the email didn’t respond to questions about what exactly that meant. All of the emails shared one common refrain: trying to discredit the way that NewsOne has covered the shooting as potentially being motivated by race. That was even as most mainstream media outlets have seemingly ignored the story or moved on to other current events. Upon first glance, there was no apparent direct evidence to suggest the shooting was racially motivated. But the circumstantial evidence, bolstered by the tragic trend of white people not in law enforcement trying to police Black people , appeared to be quite strong. That was especially true when factoring in how the shooting took place in Georgia, a state that prides itself on its role in the Confederacy. In fact, the Georgia House voted in late March “to increase the penalties against those who damage the state’s public and private monuments — and make it more difficult to remove or relocate Confederate markers ,” the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported at the time. That was as other, more progressive states have moved to remove Confederate monuments. More recently, a mayor in a rural Georgia town rejected a Black man’s job application specifically because of his race. Clayton County is located just 15 miles south of Atlanta, the state’s capital city where Black residents have long thrived socially and economically. But racism has persisted across the state, in both rural and urban locations, much like the rest of the country. Considering those facts, it was nearly impossible to rule out race as a motivational factor for Payne’s lethal pursuit of Herring. Payne’s lawyer said his client was simply trying to do the right thing. “It just seems like an unfortunate situation of a good Samaritan trying to stop a person on a hit-and-run,” Matt Tucker said. A witness described Payne to WSB-TV as the aggressor who immediately claimed after Herring was shot that he was the one who pulled the trigger. Given what is known about the shooting, it may come across as curious why more media outlets were not covering it. Aside from a handful of initial news reports following the news of Payne’s arrest, little other information has been reported with few, if any, follow-up news articles. Even social media was relatively silent despite that egregious nature of the shooting that typically makes for rabid fodder on Twitter and Facebook. Regardless of what investigators discover, it was doubtful that Payne could be charged with a hate crime even if the shooting fit the criteria for it. That was because the Georgia House only recently passed a bill for what could become the state’s first hate crimes legislation. The bill must be approved by the state Senate before it can become law. As of Friday afternoon, Payne remained locked up in Clayton County Jail without bond. Source: Nuccio DiNuzzo / Getty Really??? Thirsty selfies with THAT guy??? SMFH. The sheer amount of calls from women who are STILL enamored with Kelly has shocked investigators, but ultimately, the stories are useless in regards to the criminal case. People seem to think that just because Robert has had consensual sex before, that they are incapable of rape or sex assault. People are dumb. As hell. Lord, father, please send R. I wasn’t being all the way honest with my love for her, to myself and even to other people I was in a relationship with. I don’t have no regrets about how things went. But of course, there would be a couple of dates, some things I would miss because of my work. Really, putting them first. I always loved them as a father. But from a mother’s perspective, the kids come first and that’s it. It’s nothing else that really matters from a mother’s perspective. I immediately had the lens of a mother. The lens I have as a father was combined with the lens of a mother. I had immediately tap into my feminine side and that protective side. The mother protective is a little bit way crazier than the father protector. The emotions are at such a level. I’ve never actually felt emotions like this. My heart was never open like this. I never had my senses like this. So it’s been crazy from that point. But I knew that she was training me for this. I wasn’t scared. I knew that I was ready. I knew that I was ready to do what I was supposed to do if something like this would ever happen, from all the conversations that we had. We never really had conversations about anything else but our kids. Of course we would have our conversations as friends but if there was time. You know, if I had time and we were alone, her focus was her kids. I inherited that. And I’m proud of it. I feel like I was taught by the best. I know what to do. And even if I don’t know what to do, I just ask myself, ‘What would Kim do?’ SEE ALSO:  Diddy Reveals Kim Porter’s Final Words To Him, Covers ESSENCE With His Beautiful Baby Girls Diddy on raising women…  I was really concerned about that. So I went to different women and I asked them what could I do to be the best father that I can to my girls. And they all were consistent. They told me, number one is to listen. To make sure that they can speak to me about anything and they’ll know that I’ll really listen and they know I won’t judge them. I had to let them know I’m here to listen. I constantly let them know I’m here to listen and I’m not going to judge y’all. And I can say I probably was a judgmental person a—not the best listener. A not so good listener. I would describe myself as a bad listener. Then they told me that you can’t be controlling. You’re not going to be able to control them. If you try to control them, it’s going to push them further away. So I wouldn’t say I’m free styling. I would say I’m putting in the work I have to put in to really be able to really fill shoes that are almost impossible to fill. I don’t think that a man could ever fill the shoes that a mother fills. So, knowing that I’m trying to step into my mommy-daddy role and also accept help. I’m accepting help from her friends who were very close to her. And like I said, back to the last question about unconventional family, she said to me, ‘You basically started a tribe and you’re the leader of that tribe so you better start acting like it.’ So the tribe is really coming together. So I would have to say that I’m learning day by day and I’m in search of the knowledge. Because I’m listening, they’re actually teaching me how to become the best partner that I can be. Diddy on his plans for this upcoming Mother’s Day, without Kim…  The truth is Mother’s Day is going to hurt. We definitely going to celebrate you know all the mothers. We’re not going to get in the way of that. But you know, honestly, anybody that’s lost a mother, lost a soulmate, it takes time. It takes time. They say time heals all wounds but when it comes to your mother, I don’t think that’s the case. And that’s not a negative thing. Because as people we need wounds. Just like when you don’t listen to your mother and you get out of pocket, you need something to sting you sometimes, forever and to keep you on point. And teach you a lesson.  [Through tears] You know…I don’t know what Ima do. Ima figure something out though. This hurts so much. I know that people want to hear the good stuff. But I know it’s going to happen. But it hurts. Aint no way around that. Anything else wouldn’t be the truth. I’m trying to do the interview the way I know—but I don’t know if I can like—you got to help me to have a happy ending. I wanted to do it because I wanted to let everybody know just how special all the mothers are. I don’t think anybody could ever understand what it is to be a Black mother. I think we have the strongest beings. When it comes to the category of who’s the strongest beings on the face of the earth, it would have to be Black mothers, yeah. . @Diddy hadn’t planned to be this emotionally vulnerable, but he ultimately agreed to release audio of his interview with friend @DreamHampton from the May issue of ESSENCE. He felt that the potential impact on culture weighed more heavily than his fears. https://t.co/HRj5xtCyOz pic.twitter.com/EsQL09hhSP — ESSENCE (@Essence) May 9, 2019 To read the words and to hear him share them audibly are two totally different experiences.
