He claims his political counterparts are too worried about being called racists for impeaching the first black President via Think Progress Sam Clovis, an Iowa Republican running for U.S. Senate, thinks the only reason President Obama has not been impeached by the House of Representatives is because he is the nation’s first black president. “I would say there are people in the House of Representatives right now that would very much like to take the opportunity to start the process,” Clovis said in an interview with the Daily Times Herald. “And I think the reason that they’re not is because they’re concerned about the media.” Clovis clarified that this concern is over Obama being a black president. “It’s not that what he has done would not rise to the level where it might be impeachable,” he added, explaining that it still is not a “practical, pragmatic issue.” Referencing President Clinton’s impeachment, Clovis said, “Now we have a situation where race is thrown into the cards as well. Alabama Man Pours Hot Grease On Sleeping Girlfriend According to Tuscaloosa News reports : A Tuscaloosa man angry about his ending relationship poured hot grease on his girlfriend as she slept early Sunday morning, investigators said. The woman, 39, suffered serious injuries and is being treated in the burn unit at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, said Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit assistant commander Lt. Kip Hart. She is expected to survive. Homicide investigators were called to a home in the 2900 block of Ozment Drive at 4 a.m. Sunday. Suspect Anthony Dwayne McGraw, 40, had poured grease on the woman’s face and arms as she slept, Hart said. “He was cooking a meal and she was asleep on the couch when he came across some information that made him upset enough to do this,” Hart said. “Based on what we know, we don’t think it was premeditated.” McGraw had left the house by the time police arrived. Members of the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force found him hiding in an abandoned house near Kaulton Park at 7 p.m. Monday. Charged with first-degree assault, he remained at the Tuscaloosa County Jail Tuesday with bond set at $60,000 for that charge. A judge revoked his probation on a 2009 felony marijuana possession charge and a 2006 drug distribution charge. He is being held with no bond set in those cases. McGraw and the victim’s problems date back to at least August, when the woman claimed McGraw had threatened her, according to a request for a restraining order she filed. That order was dismissed a month later. McGraw and the woman had lived together for several years and are the parents of a teenager, she wrote in the petition. Her death is under investigation by police. Geldof was pronounced dead by paramedics who were called to her London home, though officials told the AP that they do not consider her death suspicious. Geldof’s father, singer-songwriter Bob Geldof , said he is “beyond pain.” “She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and most bonkers of all of us,” he said. “What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again?” “How is that bearable? For anyone who grew up in the 80s, the mere mention of The Goonies unleashes a tidal wave of nostalgia and memorable quotes (“Baby Ruth?”). Now director Richard Donner is hoping that a sequel to the beloved adventure film will pack a new generation into theaters. Nearly 30 years after the release of the first film, The Goonies 2 is a go according to Donner. When asked if he would ever direct another comic book film (Donner directed the original Superman film) the director replied, “If you call Goonies a comic book, we’re doing a sequel.” Okay, so Donner seems a little confused about the definition of “comic book” but it’s exciting news, nonetheless. The original Goonies has achieved fill-blown cult hit status in the decades since its release and the Steven Spielberg-produced film remains a favorite for pre-teens and their parents alike. Now that Donner has confirmed that a sequel will happen, only one question remains – will he be able to reunite the original cast? Corey Feldman has already expressed misgivings, stating that the script would need to be “perfect” in order for him to resume his role as Mouth. Other stars such as Josh Brolin and Sean Astin have gone on to enjoy successful acting careers and may be hesitant to return to the land of secret caves and hidden treasures. Of course, even if the entire cast agrees to the film, I think we can all agree it’ll be a bust unless the kid who played Chunk can still do the Truffle Shuffle.
