Police Fatally Shoot Homeowner After He Shoots Intruder A Texas man who shot and killed a burglar who attempted to rob his home is now dead after police fatally shot him when arriving to scene and “not realizing” that the gun-wielding man was defending his home. via Fox News A Texas homeowner was shot dead by police after he shot and killed a career criminal who broke into his home Thursday night, authorities say. The Dallas Morning News reports police did not realize 57-year-old William Keith Hall was defending his home when they arrived, and that Hall ignored the officers’ repeated demands he drop his weapon. Maj. Jeff Cotner tells the paper Hall pointed a pistol at police officers and witnesses on the scene, and that he had plenty of time to “de-escalate the situation.” “He was given plenty of notice, and he didn’t choose a path other than to confront officers,” Cotner said. Hall also allegedly pointed his gun at a contractor working on a house nearby who called 911 after hearing the shots. The caller, later identified as David Humphrey, told authorities Hall was yelling at witnesses to get away from the man who allegedly broke into his home, identified as 30-year-old Jerry Wayne Hale, after he shot him. Humphrey said Hall tried to fire at the witnesses but his gun was apparently jammed. The Dallas Morning News reports Hale had been arrested 14 times since 2000, and that his girlfriend told authorities he had gone to Hall’s home to burglarize it. Another day, another group of police men who “mistakenly” killed somebody and try to justify it. SMH. Continue reading →
Newt Gingrich: President Obama Is Trying To Form Dictatorship Newt Gingrich likes to stay with a little President Obama slander in his mouth… According to Raw Story: Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R) argued on Tuesday that the government shutdown stemmed from an attempt by President Barack Obama to create a dictatorship. “The big problem is that President Obama refuses to behave like an American president,” Gingrich said in an interview on The 700 Club. “He refuses to deal with the Congress as equal, which it is in the Constitution.” Gingrich then went into an explanation of the constitutional articles providing for the establishment of all three government branches, accusing Obama of putting himself “above the Constitution, and that’s very dangerous for our freedoms.” Peep video below: Discuss…
Rihanna was the target of an attempted burglary in Pacific Palisades last weekend – while she was out of town – as the star’s bad luck with homes continues. Rihanna “Pour it Up” Video Sneak Peek As she was doing her thing (getting booed for being late to shows and parading around Australia half-naked), someone drove up to her $12 million home. Cat burglars, they weren’t. Someone actually walked right into the back yard and threw a chair through a sliding glass door, police sources report. The alarm apparently scared the thieves off at that point, because they left without entering. Did they really not expect she’d have an alarm system? To wit, Rihanna ‘s property is covered by security cameras, and you have to drive on private road to even get there. On said road, there is a sign: “Smile, You’re on camera!” Nice work, guys. Smart. Police are still trying to hunt down the perpetrators, but it’s the latest in series of such incidents for Rihanna. In February, a stalker tried to break in. To the neighbor’s house. Think it was hers. In June, another man was busted by her security team, creeping on her roof. And this is all since she moved from Beverly Hills, where she bought a lemon. At least she can always buy another eight-figure home with the earnings from her lucrative music career … but you gotta feel for her just the same. Well, unless you’re Teyana Taylor .
The Jonas Brothers are handsome, well-dressed, good dancers and solid singers. But that doesn’t mean Nick, Kevin and Joe make like Michelle Rodriguez . They only swing one way, the boy band members tell the latest issue of Out . “We have a lot of gay friends and gay fans. It’s a boy band stereotype; people assume, but we don’t take offense,” Joe tells the publication of the chatter, while Nick adds: “Prior to us being a band, I was a super theater geek. I loved theater and I still do, and I care about fashion, and I care about a lot of things that I feel like stereotypes are attached to.” The siblings are touch on something even more controversial than their sexuality: Miley Cyrus and her recent raunchy antics. Asked about the singer’s infamous VMA routine , Joe admitted: “It wasn’t my favorite performance of hers. I think that there’s one way of saying you’ve grown up, and there’s another way – I think that’s her way.” Still… Cyrus has a number-one single. Her album is expected to sit atop the charts when it goes on sale next week. “She’s smart,” Nick says of his ex-girlfriend. “She’s very smart. We’ve always known that about her. She’ll always be successful. [The performance] was funny – I was laughing.” As for their own upcoming album? Kevin hopes people will keep their minds open: “We have a lot of people hearing new stuff, and maybe they have had misconceptions in the past of who we are as a band. At the end of the day, I think people are surprised to know that we’re a rock band at our core.”
The first government shutdown in 17 years, which is in effect as of this morning, has people everywhere pointing fingers and/or scratching their heads. In a nutshell, the federal government is closed after Congress could not reach an agreement on the funding to keep it running past September 30. The GOP-controlled House passed a short-term funding bill conditional upon a repeal of a medical device tax and a one-year delay in the implementation of Obamacare. Clever way to block policy labeled as toxic since it passed in 2010? Pointless, desperate political gambit? All depends who you ask. The Democratic-controlled Senate and President Barack Obama weren’t having any of it, and with both sides at an impasse and no end in sight, here we are. Government Shutdown Mocked Around the World Will Republicans’ hard-line approach resonate with Americans? Will it have consequences – either good or bad – for the GOP in future elections? That’s for the pundits to speculate on right now, but the Republican House majority does not see itself as at fault (unlike the New York Daily News cover above). Rather, they say Obama and the Senate Democrats brought this upon America because of their failure to negotiate or listen to what the people clearly want. Or so they claim. Either way, it’s little surprise that blame is being cast on both sides and the jokes are flying freely throughout the nation and world at this debacle. Talk to THG: What do you think of the government shutdown? Love it! Suck it Obamacare! Hate it! It’s both pointless and harmful! Wait … what’s going on? Is Breaking Bad really over? View Poll »
Just a few days after its latest season finale, The Real Housewives of New Jersey casting carousel is spinning furiously. Teresa Giudice is desperate to return. Caroline Manzo is leaving for a spinoff. And Dina Manzo may become a series regular once again. Dina Manzo: Returning to The Real Housewives of New Jersey? An insider says Dina “wants to come back,” but she has one very strong condition for her return: She “wants [Jacqueline Laurita] fired first because she is afraid of fighting with her,” a source tells Huffington Post blogger Tom Murro. Manzo walked away from this Bravo franchise way back in June 2010, blaming Danielle Staub at the time and saying her ex-costar was an angry, “very troubled lady.” Dina is now separated from her husband, but needs to be financially independent in order to file for divorce. “If Dina makes enough money on her own then she can leave her husband, if not she’s going back to him,” an insider tells Radar Online. “She’s already attempted a few shows to further herself but they fell apart. RHONJ was her only option to stay in the limelight for now.” And if Manzo does make a return to the series that made her sort of famous? “The onion will be unpeeled next season,” teases this same source. Do you hope to see Dina Manzo back on The Real Housewives of New Jersey? Yes, I love her! No way! Who?!? View Poll »
The U.S. government has been shutdown , as Congress could not reach a funding agreement last night and over 800,000 workers stayed home today as a result, forced into furloughs by the maneuver. Moreover, countless parks and tourist attractions around the nation have been closed, costing states millions of dollars and citizens hours of enjoyment. We’re not saying we’re in favor of the situation, which is sadly symbolic of the utter gridlock in Washington these days, but due to the following video… let’s just say we mind it a lot less. With many blaming House Speaker John Boehner and his refusal to budge on measures that would hamper Obamacare for the shutdown, a genius Internet user has super-imposed the politician’s face on Miley Cyrus’ body in the latest, greatest Wrecking Ball parody . Get it? Because Boehner came in like a wrecking ball, clawed and chained and just wanted to break the walls of the administration?
