So sad. Baby Dies After Skull And Spine Are Crushed During Forceps Delivery One doctor’s medical mistake ended this precious baby’s life before it even started. According to ABC News: Olivia Marie Coats lived for five days after her parents allege a forceps delivery crushed her little skull and caused brain death. Now, they have launched a Facebook campaign to stop the use of forceps in all births. Allen Coats, 25, and his fiancee Rachel Melancon, 24, say they will sue their obstetrician, Dr. George T. Backardjiev, but not The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, where their daughter was born on Dec. 28. The baby was transferred that day to Houston’s Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, which confirmed the baby died on Jan. 2. Coats, a pipe fitter and the baby’s father, told ABCNews.com, “I can’t bring it to myself to talk to people at the moment — sorry.” “We’re not mad at hospital, this is not their fault. It is one man’s fault,” Angie Cotes, the baby’s grandmother told ABCNews.com. “We only want justice for Olivia; we want the person responsible, which is the doctor. This is a shame….and waaaaaaay too sad. Angie Coats, 43, of Nederland, Texas, said her daughter-in-law was “itty bitty” — 4-feet-11 and 95 pounds — before she was pregnant. “[Backardjiev] said, ‘No, you don’t want a C-section. You’ll have a scar,” said Coats, who was present at the birth. “During her delivery, the baby’s heart rate kept going up. He said, ‘One more hour, one more hour.’ Her water broke, but it was 18 hours until the delivery. [Rachel] was running a 103 fever… Five hours passed, then he came in and she started to push. But she was so worn out and the baby wasn’t even in the birth canal.” Coats alleges that the baby was face up and Backardjiev tried unsuccessfully to turn her with his hands. “When he couldn’t do that, he took the small forceps to try to pull the baby out. He kept going and even put his foot up on the bed trying to pull,” she said. “He was turning and twisting and she would never come out. He put the forceps one way and the other. When he touched the top and side of the skull, we heard a pop, like clay cracking in pottery and heard her skull crush.” The parents aren’t mad at the hospital, but they should be. The hospital should have made sure the doctor was properly trained to avoid this tragedy. Facebook

According to NY Daily News Confidenti@l reports : Staffers at the highest levels of Columbia Records were kept in the dark about Beyoncé’s new album until Thursday night, when they found out along with the rest of the world their top client had secretly been recording music and making unbelievable videos in anticipation of the stealthy release Thursday. “Honestly, most of us found out when everyone else did,” one Columbia insider tells Confidenti@l. “That’s just how secret it all was, and what it takes to keep it as such.” We’re told Queen Bey had called for operation “TNO” — “Tell No One” — which was strictly followed by the crews, directors, makeup and wardrobe people whom the singer worked with for the past year and a half on the project. “There were a few people that were absolutely necessary and essential to set it all up, and they held their cards tight,” our source says. “They trusted her vision.” While on her “Mrs. Carter World Tour,” and oh, giving birth and raising 2-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, Beyoncé was hard at work behind the scenes with hubby Jay Z on creating her new sound and sexy image. The 14 new songs and 17 videos were recorded and shot in Bey’s hometown of Houston, in her Tribeca apartment in New York, in the Hamptons and in Sydney and on the beach in Rio de Janeiro. Directors included Terry Richardson, hip-hop directing legend Hype Williams and Beyoncé herself, being heavily involved in the visuals on “Blue,” sung for her baby girl. Bey, who said she was “bored” with the usual early promotions and the release of a single, wanted to speak directly to her fans. Leaks were discouraged by having all people involved sign a nondisclosure agreement for the shoots they were involved in. They were also not told the titles of the songs, or when they would be released, as the videos were shot. “A handful of people knew about the entire project,” says another record industry insider. “Beyoncé was originally going to unleash one single at a time, the way Justin Bieber has been doing it online. But she ultimately decided to release them all at once.” The songs can downloaded from iTunes now and will be available on CD Friday. Have y’all listened to the new project yet? So sad… 5-Year-Old Girl Dies After Being Hit By Car On Halloween Night A night of Halloween trick-or-treating ended in tragedy for one Houston family when a 5-year-old girl was fatally struck by a car while running ahead with her candy. via Fox News Houston police say a 5-year-old girl who was out trick-or-treating has died after darting into a street and being struck by a vehicle. Police on Friday did not immediately release the name of the child. Investigators say the girl apparently ran ahead of some family members Thursday night and stepped into the path of the vehicle. The girl was carrying Halloween candy that was scattered across the road after the accident, The Houston Chronicle reported. Houston police say the driver, described as a man in his 70s, remained at the scene following the accident. He reportedly did not appear intoxicated. The girl was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. This is terribly sad. Our condolences go out to this angel’s family. Shuttesrtock

Damn shame. Parents Starve 11-Year-Old Boy If they didn’t want the child, they could have given him up for adoption. No need to starve him. According to KHOU: A Houston couple is accused of allowing their son to nearly starve to death. The alleged abuse occurred at Elijah and Susan Johnson’s northeast Houston apartment in May of 2012, when the couple’s son Nathaniel was 11-years-old. At the time he was found, he weighed 30 pounds. According to court documents, the boy suffers from a very rare medical condition and requires a feeding tube to eat. Child Protective Services became involved after the boy was taken to a hospital suffering from respiratory failure. The documents also show that a small amount of that cocaine was found in the boy’s system. “There were some concerns about the child’s weight and the family’s understanding of his medical condition, including how to feed him,” said Gwen Carter, of Child Protective Services. She said CPS took custody of the child while experts instructed the parents on how better to care for him. Three months ago, CPS allowed Nathaniel to return home with a 24-hour nurse in place, even though the criminal investigation was still underway. “Our investigations and cases are civil,” said Carter. “They’re not criminal. And so they don’t always run parallel. We, of course, share all information with law enforcement and they share with us.” That information led to a charge of injury to a child by omission against Mr. and Mrs. Johnson. The child has temporarily been placed in the care of relatives while CPS tries to work out a long-term living arrangement. SMH.

What’s done in the dark will always come to light. Wife Admits To Killing Husband It took her 28 years to do the right thing. According to Houston Chronicle: It was supposed to be the work of a barefoot man who snuck into a Houston couple’s home in 1985, had forced sex with a woman, killed a man and escaped without a trace. In reality, it was a wife who shot her husband as he slept, then went on for 28 years living a lie. Carolyn Sue Krizan-Wilson, 71, admitted Wednesday in a Harris County courtroom that she shot Roy McCaleb, her husband of two years, almost three decades ago. “Guilty,” was all Krizan said when asked for her plea by state District Judge Ryan Patrick. In exchange for the plea, Krizan-Wilson was sentenced to six months in jail, which will be followed by 10 years probation. The relatively light punishment, though, was not as important as finding out the truth, said McCaleb’s daughter Pam Nalley. “She is willingly admitting that she murdered him and that’s something we’ve known all these years,” Nalley said. “I think that means more to me than anything.” James Stafford, an attorney for Krizan-Wilson said the septuagenarian is suffering from dementia and a host of other health issues and wanted to get past the case against her. McCaleb, a construction foreman, was 50 when he was killed on Sept. 22, 1985. Krizan-Wilson was 43. McCaleb was heavily sedated because of a recent back surgery, Krizan-Wilson said after the shooting. He was also recovering from a heart attack. SMH. In speaking to reporters after the death, Krizan-Wilson told a fantastic story about being car-jacked then raped about 10 days before the shooting by a barefoot man with a knife. She said she didn’t report it because she feared it would hinder her husband’s recuperation. Day later, she told authorities, the man came into the couple’s North Shore home through an unlocked door on a Sunday night. She claimed the man threatened her, scraped her with a coat hanger and dripped hot wax on her. He again held a knife to her throat and raped her, she said. The man then took the gun she kept under her pillow, went to where her husband was sleeping and shot him, she said. As the man fled the scene, she said, the two collided and the intruder dropped the gun. She picked it up and fired two shots after him as he fled, she reported. Days without a suspect or any new leads stretched into months, then years until investigators picked the cold case up again after 23 years. In 2008, police arrested the widow, who had been a civilian employee at the Houston Police Department as her two sons climbed the ranks as police officers. After the arrest, her attorneys argued that too much time had passed to indict Krizan-Wilson, a position that swayed former state District Judge Kevin Fine. Fine dismissed the case, and for the past five years, it wound its way through the appellate courts. The dismissal was reversed and sent back to the original court now presided over by Patrick. Krizan-Wilson will begin her six months in jail on Dec. 26. Six months in jail and 10 years probation for killing a man and lying about it for 28 years? Hoston Texans Cut 3 Rookie Players For Smoking Marijuana In Hotel Room Via ESPN Houston Texans rookies Sam Montgomery, Cierre Wood and Willie Jefferson were released Monday, two days after violating team rules while at the Texans’ team hotel in Kansas City. Three sources who wished to remain anonymous told ESPN.com that the violation occurred due to marijuana use. Wood, Jefferson and Montgomery were inactive for Sunday’s 17-16 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, the Texans’ fifth consecutive loss. “I don’t understand why they did it,” Texans outside linebacker Brooks Reed said. “They had the opportunity of their lives and they just kind of threw it away. I don’t have too much to say about it. It’s really unfortunate. We lost a lot of depth for that game. They were great players and they had a lot of potential. We’re just going to find more guys that are more dedicated to the cause.” Jefferson’s agent, Chad Cannon, told ESPN.com that the players were smoking a cigar in the team hotel and that illegal drugs were not involved. “We’re discussing the possibility of filing a grievance,” Cannon said. “I need to be in touch with them and really figure if that’s the best route to take.” Oh, “cigars” huh?? Montgomery told Comcast SportsNet Houston that he walked into a hotel room where Wood and Jefferson were smoking a cigar Saturday and was later called from a meeting by coach Gary Kubiak. “I won’t discuss team rules and those type of things,” Kubiak said during his Monday news conference. “I’ll make decisions based on a body of work in everything I do. He’ll sprint after that idiotic attendee and shove him to the ground.
