I guess this is how they keep all of that “Cash Money”, by not paying people!! Grammy-award winning producer Darius ‘Deezle’ Harrison made headlines this year when he filed a reported $20 million lawsuit against Lil Wayne and his Cash Money/Young Money empire. The lawsuit alleged that Wayne and his imprints failed to pay him royalites for one of the rapper’s biggest hits to date “Lollipop”, estimated to have accumulated over $70 million in sales. Since then Deezle, the producer, instrumentalist, singer AND rapper, says he’s been misrepresented in the media as a money-hungry ‘monster’ instead of what he really was—the in-house producer for Cash Money Records after the departure of Mannie Fresh. I’m glad to see JoJo Levesque all done up at some Bongo event. The last time I saw her she was showing off her thunder thighs in some spandex pants, but I can hardly see them in this little white dress. I like it. Wasn’t she supposed to be the next big thing? What happened to that? I told her she should have had her breasts done, nobody listens to the Tuna.
The comic actor talks about acting drunk, receiving an unexpected call from Coldplay’s Chris Martin while filming his new movie. By Kara Warner Russell Brand Photo: MTV News In Russell Brand’s new film, “Arthur,” he plays a hapless, immature and perpetually drunk billionaire who is faced with losing his inheritance if he marries the wrong woman. Now while Brand is known for his outrageous antics, he’s been sober since he spent three months in rehab in 2003. So, when MTV News caught up with Brand recently during the press day for “Arthur,” we asked him if he enjoys making believe that he’s liquored up. “Yes, it’s brilliant; it’s a right laugh. I love pretending to be drunk,” Brand said. “I had a real hoot. [You] can sort of stagger around. We were filming in New York, there’s crowds of people everywhere, hanging out, so I could just wander among them, pretend to be drunk, beg for change occasionally.”
I have a question I want to ask you and your readers particularly the male ones. I am an educated female with a house and car of my own and I’m good at what I do. But what gets to me is a lot of women like myself who are financially independent, are always portrayed in a negative light as if we’re a problem because we’ve seen to it that we get what we want by any means necessary. It hasn’t been easy and true enough it’s a lonely path at times but I’m no that girl who rolls her eyes and toots her nose up at blue collar men. I don’t use what I have a leverage when I’m dating and I don’t judge a man for not having all that I have. I can’t lie it would be nice to date a man who can match what I have, only because we have no where to go but up and when we bring our lives together the transition should be smooth or at least that’s what I believe! That’s not reality though and I’m more than willing to compromise with a man that treats me how I deserve to be treated. That’s not my problem though. Around this time last year, I ended a six year relationship with a man that I believed I was going to marry. When I told him that I didn’t want to waste my time with someone who wasn’t serious about marrying me he told me he wasn’t ready. I was devastated and heartbroken but I bounced back fairly quick because at 31 I’m not getting any younger and six years of my life had already been invested without return and I began to date again. So I started to see this guy and I wasn’t trying to be too serious and keep my options open but as time went on, I stopped calling all the other guys because we were spending most of our time together and I’m really feeling him. To sum it all up….now that it’s gotten warm I’ve noticed he’s gotten distant and out with his boys at night when I’ve grown used to being with him. I wouldn’t even be upset if he hadn’t cancelled plans on me several times! I don’t know what to do or how to get his attention! Is it because it’s Spring and was I a winter fling? Please give me your honest opinion because I just don’t get it! Good Day to you, sis! Thank you for writing in and sharing your story! So, you dove into the dating game and made the most common mistake we all make and that’s prematurely eliminating your options! This is something you just shouldn’t do without there being a mutual agreement that you are seeing each other exclusively. Otherwise, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. A lot of times we make the mistake of dropping all other suitors from the roster, thinking we’re showing our seriousness and dedication to the relationship with hopes of the other person doing the same, and from there unfolds a beautiful love affair. Ideally, sure! Realistically, no, it seldom works this way! Okay, sis, here’s another thing that happens often, with women in particular, once you’ve ended a long-term relationship, time suddenly becomes of the essence and you’re racing the clock to meet certain milestones whether it be marriage or starting a family. And you said yourself that you’re “not getting any younger” but you’re 31! What’s the rush? You have plenty of time to meet, marry and start a family with the man of your dreams! He’s out there, but you can’t force or manipulate it into being because your biological clock is ticking! These are the parts of life you can’t plan nor place into some sort of time frame. By all means, your time should never be wasted waiting for someone to come around or turn a new leaf but whomever you decide to take seriously should value your time just as much as his own. Just like you said, it’s an investment. So your question was, “is it because it’s Spring and was I a winter fling?” Unfortunately, sis, you may never know the answer to this question but his actions should definitely help you decide whether or not he’s someone you want to continue to invest your time with. And if you really want to grasp his attention once more, pay him none! Next time he calls you and wants to see you, have plans. Don’t just lie about it either, really have plans to do something – happy hour with the girls, art exhibits, take a good book or journal to the park, maybe some retail therapy. Once you busy yourself, you’ll start to meet and date new people and this guy will become and after thought. And this, my dear, is when you’ll have his attention again, sadly, that’s just the way it is. So don’t spend your Spring being hung up over this guy and the Winter you spent with him. Chalk it, move on and enjoy your Spring … just like he is! Good luck to you, sis! Good luck! What are you thoughts, Bossip Fam? Please share them below! LeAnn Rimes caught considerable flak for her appearance at the NCAA title game last night, and did not mince words firing back at critics on Twitter. Rimes, who recently called a truce with Brandi Glanville , now has other detractors to focus on – those who said she’s looking way too thin lately. “To those who have to turn to other’s lives and judge with no real knowledge of how anyone lives, you can you know what!” she posted Tuesday. Rimes performing the National Anthem in Houston last night . Responding to a “fan” who asked if she starves herself: “dear lord! I do not workout too much nor do I starve myself. I’m over this and moving on.” Overall, she says it’s “Always an honor to honor our country. Very proud of last night. Still on a bit of a high. Thx you all fir such kind kind words.” What do you think: LeAnn is looking really …

‘It’s all about competition,’ he tells MTV News about Magnum-sponsored freestyle contest whose winner will get to perform with Luda. By Alvin Blanco Ludacris at the “Live Large Project 2” competition on Monday Photo: Dave Kotinsky/ Getty Images Ludacris is a marquee hip-hop artist but he has no problem lending aspiring rappers a hand. On Monday, the Atlanta-based MC/actor was at New York City’s Highline Ballroom for the Magnum-sponsored Live Large Project 2, a hip-hop/freestyle competition that gives contestants a shot at a cash prize and the chance to perform alongside Luda at Springfest 2011 in Miami. It’s the second year Luda has participated in the event, and the Disturbing Tha Peace Records founder said it always makes him remember his days as a hungry unknown. “I remember being an aspiring artist and up-and-coming rapper and wishing I had opportunities like the one that Magnum Live Large Project is giving out — $5,000, a trip to Miami, able to perform — all of these different things is good, man,” Luda told MTV News. “It’s all about competition. That’s what hip-hop is all about anyway.” The Highline stop was just one of four regional events that span the West Coast (Bay Area), South (Miami) and the Midwest (Detroit). The top three contestants from each region, as well as a fifth selected via YouTube, will make the trip to Miami to compete for the $5,000 prize. New York’s top three winners were Perelli, Renegade and Pumpkinhead, who won $1,000 for being the fan favorite. According to Ludacris, anyone who’s achieved his level of success should feel obligated to support events like this one and serve as a source of inspiration. “It’s definitely important for me to give back to MCs coming up,” he said.”That’s part of the reason we do what we do. You can never forget where you come from or how you came up. I’m very excited to be doing this. And don’t get it twisted, I’m getting inspired my damn self by watching the up-and-coming rappers and it’s making me realize and remember back in the day when I was the same way.” A rap industry neophyte that Ludacris thinks highly of and can relate to is Big K.R.I.T . After making strides independently, the Meridian, Mississippi, rapper and producer signed with Luda’s label home, Def Jam, last year and recently released a new mixtape, Return of 4Eva. Luda, along with Bun B, makes an appearance on the remix of “Country Sh–.” “When [Big K.R.I.T.] speaks, you can feel his heart,” Luda told us. “His heart is on the outside of his chest. He’s talking about his experience and being from the South and being from Mississippi. Just respecting the fact that he’s the production side as well as spilling his heart out on the beats, I can respect that.” Ludacris is working on his eighth album, Ludaversal, due out later this year. ‘Everything’s in snow, but the costumes are very colorful,’ he tells MTV News. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Lily Collins Photo: John Shearer/ WireImage Two cinematic reimaginings of Snow White are currently in the works, but lest you think both are going to turn out more or less the same, simply listen to how director Tarsem Singh conceives of his film’s look . “It’s actually like if you looked at Gaudi’s architecture, based in England, done like a turn-of-the-century Russian film by an Indian guy,” he told MTV News. Right. We’re guessing that the competing Snow White tale — from Rupert Sanders, making his directorial debut after a string of hyper-stylized TV commercials — isn’t going to encroach on Tarsem’s territory, and that’s just the way he wants it. “There’s a brown guy telling you a Snow White tale to white people. Just by definition, when you put different ingredients, you get a different stew,” he said. His yet-untitled film stars Julia Roberts as the evil queen, Armie Hammer (“The Social Network”) as the handsome prince and, after being cast earlier this month, Lily Collins (“The Blind Side”) as Snow White herself. Why Collins, a relative unknown whose profile is on the rise after being cast in the adaptation of the “Mortal Instruments” young adult book series? “Her eyebrows,” Tarsem joked. “I just saw her eyebrows and I said, ‘That’s Snow White.’ ” With the key players in place, the filmmakers are busy building sets and designing costumes. True to Tarsem’s earlier work, like “The Cell” and the forthcoming “Immortals,” the new Snow White film will dress its cast in some eye-popping garb. “Everything’s in snow, but the costumes are very colorful. It’s like no color, then a lot of color,” Tarsem said. “I never know how actors give you all the trust, because the stuff that I make people wear does not look ridiculous — it looks ridiculous. ” Check out everything we’ve got on “Snow White.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .
‘I think we were a little bit shocked,’ the Hob’s Amanda Belcher tells MTV News. By Amy Wilkinson Josh Hutcherson Photo: Alberto E. Rodriguez/ Getty Images Casting for the most anticipated love triangle since Edward, Bella and Jacob is now complete. On Monday, Lionsgate announced that Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth would star as Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne alongside Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen in the big-screen adaptation of “The Hunger Games.” The news came on the heels of rumors that the two were front-runners among the pack of Hollywood’s young men auditioning for the coveted roles. Yet, despite a bit of early warning, “Hunger Games” fans and experts alike were largely surprised by the casting news. “I think we were a little bit shocked, especially when the rumors first broke last week that Josh and Liam were the front-runners,” said Amanda Belcher of the Hob . “We hadn’t really expected that out of all the people that were listed on the short list of people for both Peeta and Gale.” Fan reactions have ranged from pleased (@The SiennaSkye: “Josh Hutcherson was cast as Peeta Mellark!? YES! They picked a cutie!! (:”) to outraged (@meggiedear: “Worst. Casting. News. Ever. [Especially 4 Gale]. R.I.P. Hunger Games movie”). Yet, Belcher said many initially wary fans have changed their tune since the news first sent the Internet ablaze. “Surprisingly, I feel like when the official news got posted, they’ve come around a little bit,” she said. “There’s still quite a few who say, ‘I’m not going to watch this movie. I’m so upset at this casting.’ Then there’s a lot of them that say, ‘You know what? These aren’t our first choices, and we don’t really like them, but we’re going to put our trust in Lionsgate.’ ” One of the chief concerns among fans seems to be that Hutcherson and Hemsworth don’t closely resemble the characters from the book — an issue that was also raised following Lawrence’s casting. “I have a hard time picturing Josh and Liam as Peeta and Gale, but I want to give them the benefit of the doubt,” said “Hunger Games” Examiner Sara Gundell. Mockingjay.net administrator Kimmy West said most fans stuck on the actors’ looks will most likely get onboard once they see the stars’ chemistry and performances for themselves. “[The actors] have to prove to the fans that they’re the good person for the role. Because the moment that people realize that these actors are perfect in the role, hopefully then all the fans will warm up to them and agree that they are good.” What do you think of the Josh Hutcherson/ Liam Hemsworth casting news?
