Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s death on Sunday has left Hollywood shocked and saddened. Tons of celebrities have already taken to Twitter to react to the beloved actor’s passing, and now his Hunger Games family is making a statement, as well. Hoffman had nearly completed filming his role as Head Gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee for the two-part Hunger Games conclusion, Mockingjay. On Sunday, director Francis Lawrence and The Hunger Games author Suzanne Collins spoke on behalf of the film’s cast and crew, saying: “Words cannot convey the devastating loss we are all feeling right now. Philip was a wonderful person and an exceptional talent, and our hearts are breaking.” “Our deepest condolences go out to his family.” Hunger Games ‘ production company, Lionsgate Films also made a statement: “Philip Seymour Hoffman was a singular talent and one of the most gifted actors of our generation.” “We’re very fortunate that he graced our Hunger Games family. Losing him in his prime is a tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Philip’s family.” Hoffman died of an apparent drug overdose in New York City at the age of 46. In tragic news from the world of film today, acclaimed actor and director Philip Seymour Hoffman has died. He passed away in New York City at the age of 46. The Academy Award winner was found dead in his apartment in Manhattan this morning, according to the New York Police Department, which is investigating. The cause of death has not yet been determined, although an overdose is expected. According to TMZ, authorities found a needle in Hoffman’s arm. The New York Times is also reporting that police Investigators found a syringe in his arm and an envelope containing what is believed to be heroin. The suspected overdose hasn’t been confirmed, but Hoffman had struggled with drug problems, checking himself into rehab for heroin addiction in May. He had been clean for 23 years before relapsing in 2012. According to the Wall Street Journal , which first reported on his death, he was discovered alone in the bathroom at 11:30 a.m. in his 35 Bethune Street apartment. Hoffman won the Best Actor Academy Award and the Golden Globe Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture for his leading role in 2005’s Capote . A renowned and respected thespian, he was nominated for three Best Supporting Actor Oscars, for The Master, Doubt , and Charlie Wilson’s War . Hoffman was most recently seen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire , the second installment in the blockbuster Hunger Games series adaptation. He was set to star in two more installments, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is set to come out in November, with Part 2 set for 2015. Hoffman has three children – daughters Tallulah and Willa (born in 2006 and 2008) and son Cooper (born in 2003) – with costume designer Mimi O’Donnell. Meet Park Seo-yeon, a South Korean woman, makes $9,000 a month from fans who like to watch her eat for hours each day, according to reports. Known as “The Diva” online, Seo-yeon cooks up elaborate meals, sits down and ingests them in front of a camera, all while chatting with her adoring fans. Who pay handsomely for the privilege of doing so, obviously. Park Seo-yeon: Watch Me EAT! Almost surprisingly, there is no sex or nudity involved. Nor is there remote suggestion of it. Any hoovering she does involves food and food alone. The web craze is called “Meok-Bang” and it cures loneliness and hunger pangs … seriously. This is a thing and it’s reportedly common in South Korea. “People enjoy the vicarious pleasure of my online show when they can’t eat that much, don’t want to eat food at night, or are on a diet,” Seo-yeon said. It boils down in part to demographics: South Korea, one-person households are common and becoming more so. They could comprise a third of the population in 15 years, officials believe. As for Seo-yeon, she was working at a consulting agency before she quit that gig to eat full-time. The Diva streams daily starting between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Her “Meok-bang” sessions last for hours. A seemingly endless smorgasbord of delicious food – Korean food, pizza, pasta, steak, you name it – can be (not at all sexually) enjoyed along with her. As many as 3,500 Meok-Bangers are believed to be doing this in that country, though, so don’t think you can just jump on into this new career field. You gotta earn a following.

Very sad… 8-Year-Old Hangs Himself While Imitating Movie Scene The parents and family of an 8-year-old California boy are overwhelmed with grief after he hung himself while imitating a scene from a movie and later passed away as a result. via NY Daily News A big-hearted California 8-year-old boy died Sunday after his playacting went too far and he hanged himself in his parents’ Stockton home. Baby-faced Julianni Plascencia loved playing football for the Stockton Bengals and was looking forward to seeing his favorite NFLer, 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick, play Sunday in the NFC Conference Championship Game, the boy’s father, Ronnie Plascencia, told the Daily News on Thursday. But the bubbly child didn’t make it to game day after he used a scarf Saturday night to accidentally hang himself at the family home. The boy’s mother went off to the store, leaving Julianni in the care of his 14-year-old brother. “He said, ‘I’m going to hang myself,’ but he didn’t say it like he was serious, so my older son told him to quit playing around,” Ronnie Plascencia said. “He could hear him playing in the other room, but then he realized it had been quiet for a little while.” When the teen went to check on his younger brother, the boy was slumped over near his parent’s closet, one side of a scarf tied around his neck and the other end to a doorknob. “He must of been reenacting something he saw on TV,” a devastated Ronnie told the News. “He probably knew it was dangerous, but not the severity of trying it out.” The family stayed by the boy’s side for the next several hours after he slipped into a coma and was kept alive by a web of machines. The family left the hospital room to talk about the next steps, and when they returned to Julianni’s room, the machines started beeping – the boy had flatlined. What a tragic and sad accident. Our thoughts and prayers go out to this family.
