It’s official: After months of speculation and a suspiciously out-of-the-blue engagement, the New York Post has confirmed that Sophie Hunter is pregnant with Benedict Cumberbatch’s baby. The rumors began when Cumberbatch and Hunter got engaged back in November. The actor’s obsessive fans scrutinize his every move, yet no one was aware that he was in a serious relationship. So when Bendy announced his intention to marry Hunter, it was widely assumed the couple had good reason to hurry things along. Hunter was spotted hiding a baby bump just a few weeks later at the Palm Springs Film Festival, and as expected, the Hunterbatch pregnancy was confirmed just a few days later. “Sophie is a few months along, and both she and Benedict are very excited about it,” a source tells the Post. “They are also quietly planning to marry in early spring.” In addition to playing the title role in the BBC’s Sherlock, Cumberbatch is currently an Oscar contender thanks to his acclaimed work in The Imitation Game. Stateside, of course, he may be best known for inspiring Gosling-esque fantasies in millions of female fans.
