16 and Pregnant stars Josh Smith and Jennifer Del Rio, who were involved in a violent altercation this week, had a kid just to get on the show. So says Josh in court documents after he filed restraining order against Jennifer. She allegedly punched her baby daddy in the face last Friday. Smith claims his Jennifer Del Rio is a “compulsive liar” who concocted a diabolical scheme to get pregnant, one SO devious it went like this: Jennifer Del Rio told him she was knocked up already (she wasn’t) so he wouldn’t wear a condom and then she actually DID get pregnant! Scandalous! “She was giving me sonogram pictures … that she claimed was ‘our baby’ when actually it was her friend’s sonogram pictures she copied,” he says. “She lied to me and my parents for three months saying she was pregnant. She wanted so desperately to be on Sixteen and Pregnant.” As for the restraining order, Jennifer filed for a separate restraining order against HIM and claims Josh punched himself in the face to set her up.” The disaster of a couple is scheduled to be back in court on May 2. In light of Josh’s claims, we’ve gotta reopen this ongoing debate at THG … Does MTV glorify, and thus encourage, teen pregnancy?
Lindsay Lohan caught a huge break yesterday when the felony grand theft charge against her was reduced to a misdemeanor by Judge Stephanie Sautner. The judge felt that the nature of the alleged crime and the value of the necklace in question simply did not warrant a felony charge. PHEW, right? Of course, LiLo is still on probation for her 2007 DUI arrest, and Sautner was far less lenient in that regard. She sentenced her to 120 days in county jail! Lindsay has been remanded into custody and taken to the courthouse basement to be booked. She is allowed to post bail pending an appeal of the ruling. This being Lohan, she’s been down this road so many times before and was well prepared. She posted $75,000 bail and was back on the street within hours. LiLo was also ordered to complete 480 hours of community service for the offense, 360 of which must be performed at L.A.’s Downtown Women’s Center. There, Lindsay can see how needy women really have to live in this society. The remaining 120 hours of her service will be done at the L.A. County morgue. So she’s free for now, but we expect her to lose that appeal and be back to Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif., soon. Here’s why … At the preliminary hearing on the grand theft charge, the judge felt Lindsay should have called the store and notified the owner about the necklace sooner. She waited several weeks and returned the necklace via some underling only after finding out the cops were about to raid her house. Pretty shady stuff. Sautner seemed influenced by the Lindsay Lohan surveillance video , which she saw for the first time in court, and showed something suspicious was up. Deputy D.A. Danette Meyers argued Lindsay used her friend Patrick as a decoy to distract the clerk while she pilfered the necklace valued at $2,500. Lohan denies all of this and has pleaded not guilty. While a jury of her peers may agree, a judge has the sole authority to rule on probation violations. Lohan rejected a plea deal that would have gotten her three months (cut down to less than one with good behavior) and ended this weeks ago. Rough. So here we are. Most likely, this was a way of making sure Lohan does time no matter what happens in the actual trial – and probably for the best. What do you think of Lohan’s 120-day jail sentence?

‘I think we were a little bit shocked,’ the Hob’s Amanda Belcher tells MTV News. By Amy Wilkinson Josh Hutcherson Photo: Alberto E. Rodriguez/ Getty Images Casting for the most anticipated love triangle since Edward, Bella and Jacob is now complete. On Monday, Lionsgate announced that Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth would star as Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne alongside Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen in the big-screen adaptation of “The Hunger Games.” The news came on the heels of rumors that the two were front-runners among the pack of Hollywood’s young men auditioning for the coveted roles. Yet, despite a bit of early warning, “Hunger Games” fans and experts alike were largely surprised by the casting news. “I think we were a little bit shocked, especially when the rumors first broke last week that Josh and Liam were the front-runners,” said Amanda Belcher of the Hob . “We hadn’t really expected that out of all the people that were listed on the short list of people for both Peeta and Gale.” Fan reactions have ranged from pleased (@The SiennaSkye: “Josh Hutcherson was cast as Peeta Mellark!? YES! They picked a cutie!! (:”) to outraged (@meggiedear: “Worst. Casting. News. Ever. [Especially 4 Gale]. R.I.P. Hunger Games movie”). Yet, Belcher said many initially wary fans have changed their tune since the news first sent the Internet ablaze. “Surprisingly, I feel like when the official news got posted, they’ve come around a little bit,” she said. “There’s still quite a few who say, ‘I’m not going to watch this movie. I’m so upset at this casting.’ Then there’s a lot of them that say, ‘You know what? These aren’t our first choices, and we don’t really like them, but we’re going to put our trust in Lionsgate.’ ” One of the chief concerns among fans seems to be that Hutcherson and Hemsworth don’t closely resemble the characters from the book — an issue that was also raised following Lawrence’s casting. “I have a hard time picturing Josh and Liam as Peeta and Gale, but I want to give them the benefit of the doubt,” said “Hunger Games” Examiner Sara Gundell. Mockingjay.net administrator Kimmy West said most fans stuck on the actors’ looks will most likely get onboard once they see the stars’ chemistry and performances for themselves. “[The actors] have to prove to the fans that they’re the good person for the role. Because the moment that people realize that these actors are perfect in the role, hopefully then all the fans will warm up to them and agree that they are good.” What do you think of the Josh Hutcherson/ Liam Hemsworth casting news? Renew your faith with this Funny or Die preview for Rebecca Black’s “Friday” film adaptation, Sunday Comes Afterwards , which sounds like a delightful Tennessee Williams tale. It looks like we might have a pair of winners in the Movieline-approved battle royale for the male leads in Hunger Games . Deadline reports that Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson are the front-runners to play Gale and Peeta in the Gary Ross-directed film. “I love Peeta,” Hutcherson told EW last month . “The character is so much who I am — self deprecating, a people person. And he’d be such a great character to play! Like in the third book? Oh my God.” Developing… [ Deadline ]
Josh Hutcherson, Alex Pettyfer and Hunter Parrish appear to be the front-runners, but nothing is confirmed yet. By Christina Garibaldi Alex Pettyfer Photo: Getty Images Last week, MTV News exclusively revealed that Oscar-nominated actress Jennifer Lawrence landed the highly coveted role of Katniss Everdeen in the film adaptation of “The Hunger Games.” Experts and fans were mixed on the thought of the tall, blond 20-year-old taking on the role of the 16-year-old, dark-haired heroine, but it seems like Jennifer can rest easy for now, since the debate has shifted to who will play fellow Hunger Games competitor Peeta. “It’s definitely going to be someone close to her age,” Down With the Capitol administrator Theresa Morgan told MTV News. “I think it will make it easier to cast someone for Peeta.” Many names have already been thrown into the mix, including “The Kids Are All Right” star Josh Hutcherson , who confessed he has met with director Gary Ross. “I love Peeta,” Hutcherson told Entertainment Weekly. “The character is so much who I am — self-deprecating, a people person. And he’d be such a great character to play!” Hutcherson seems to be a front-runner for the District 12 male tribute, but he will have some stiff competition from Alex Pettyfer and fan favorite Hunter Parrish . “We love Josh Hutcherson,” the Hob administrator Megan Scott said. “There’s Alex, who I really like, but Hunter is a huge fan favorite. When I think of these guys with Jennifer, they all go well together.” “Our whole site thinks Hunter will be perfect,” Morgan said. “He looks the role and acts the role. A lot of people are thinking he sounds like Peeta.” Ross might agree, since Parrish recently told E! Online he has met with the movie’s producers. “I’d be grateful to get the opportunity,” he said. “Like, really grateful. It would be amazing.” Not everyone’s convinced that these leading contenders are right for the coveted “Hunger Games” role. “My favorite for Peeta is Callan McAuliffe,” Mockingjay.net administrator Kimmy West said about the “I Am Number Four” newcomer. “I think he has the acting chops, he’s relatively unknown, and he has that warm quality that Peeta has.” Who do you think should get the role of Peeta in “The Hunger Games”? Both Josh Hutcherson and Alex Pettyfer have been vocal about meeting with The Hunger Games producers to discuss the leading role of Peeta Mellark and now Hunter Parrish is throwing his hat into the casting ring. Just last night, the Weeds star told E! that he has also met with producers and would “be grateful” to get the coveted part . But can the 23-year-old actor be convincing as a 16-year-old in the Gary Ross film adaptation, especially after spending six seasons on a Showtime series about marijuana? Movieline investigates below.
