The “Thor: Ragnarok” actress has landed the role of Doris Payne, the geriatric jewel thief whose known for pulling off high-end heists across the globe. Variety reports that the “film is conceived as a high-concept action-drama in the vein of “Catch Me if You Can” and “The Thomas Crown Affair.” Codeblack Films’ Candice Wilson will oversee the project. Tessa will portray Payne now that the filmmakers have obtained her life rights. Payne, 86, made headlines after she was recently banned from ALL Atlanta area malls and swiped $86.22 worth of products from a local Walmart. 50 Cent has reached a plea deal following an incident in which he alleged kicked his baby mama and destroyed a bunch of her property back in June. He was charged with five criminal counts following the incident – one count of misdemeanor domestic violence, and four counts of misdemeanor vandalism. The rapper pleaded not guilty soon after, but the judge still ordered him to stay away from his baby mama Daphne Joy , the mother of 50’s second child. 50 also has a teenage son Marquise with Shaniqua Tompkins , with whom he also has a contentious relationship. Joy’s child with Cent is still a baby. After the alleged fight with Daphne, he was hit with a restraining order. He also had to turn in all his guns, which we imagine is a large number. But he’s now struck a plea deal that got the domestic violence charge dropped. By agreeing to plead no contest to one count of misdemeanor vandalism, he was sentenced to three years’ probation and 30 days’ community service. He has also agreed to attend counseling sessions and pay $7,100 in restitution to Daphne Joy, while the restraining order against him remains in effect. It’s not clear when and if he will get his guns back .
Another major biopic role as been filled. Days after Tom Hardy landed the role of Elton John, Variety confirms that Emile Hirsch is on board to portray the big screen version of John Belushi. The actor – best known for roles in Speed Racer , Milk and Into the Wild – will take on the persona of one of Saturday Night Live’ s first cast members, a hard partying comedian who died of a drug overdose on 1982 at the age of 33. Steve Conrad will write the untitled feature, which goes into production in the spring and which will be based on a 2005 biography penned by Belushi’s widow Judy. Fifty Shades of Grey star Charlie Hunnam says he’s ready to embrace the role of Christian Grey, and that there’s tangible chemistry with his co-star. At the FX premiere of Sons of Anarchy Season 6 , Hunnam, 33, discussed for the first time how he landed the role of Christian, and why he wanted it. “As soon as we got in the room and started reading with Dakota, I knew that I definitely wanted to do it, because there was a tangible chemistry between us.” “It felt kind of exciting and fun and weird and compelling, and so that was it.” That would be his co-star Dakota Johnson, 23, who will portray Anastasia Steele, Christian’s lover in the much-anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey movie . Before Dakota, Hunnam spoke with director Sam Taylor-Johnson about her thoughts on the role, after which he “felt really intrigued and excited about it.” “I went and read the first book to get a clearer idea of who this character was, and felt even more excited about the prospect of bringing him to life.” At first he was cautious about the commitment – there will likely be three Fifty Shades films – given that he’s been locked into a TV show since 2008. Dane DeHaan has landed the role of a lifetime. The actor ( Chronicle , In Treatment ) will portray Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 , director Marc Webb confirmed today on Twitter. This role, of course, was made famous by James Franco in the original, Tobey Maguire-anchored franchise. DeHaan reportedly beat out such actors as Brady Corbet, Alden Ehrenreich, Sam Claflin , Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth and Boyd Holbrook for the role. He will join a returning Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone in the sequel, which hits theaters on May 2, 2013.
