Our Idiot Brother Trailer Introduces Us To The Big Ruddowski

After receiving some good vibes up in Sundance, the trailer for Our Idiot Brother finally lets the rest of us sea-level schomoes see what the big to-do is. Paul Rudd stars as a sweet but dim dude who shuttles between his sisters (Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel and Emily Mortimer) as he tries to get his life together after selling weed to a uniformed cop. With his preference for the sticky icky and comfort-maximizing Jamz shorts, he might remind you of another affable stoner who bounces around his intellectual superiors. Check it out below!

Green Day’s ‘American Idiot’ Musical May Become Feature Film

Reports have Tom Hanks and Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black attached to the project. By James Montgomery Billie Joe Armstrong performs with the cast of “American Idiot” Photo: Slaven Vlasic/ Getty Images It’s been green-lit, killed, resurrected and put on the back burner, but now it appears that the long-in-the-works film version of Green Day’s American Idiot album might finally become a reality. On Wednesday (April 13), Reuters reported that Universal is in negotiations to pick up the screen rights to the Broadway version of “Idiot,” and has hired Michael Mayer &#8212 who directs the stage production &#8212 to shoot the movie version. Reuters also reported that Dustin Lance Black, the Oscar-winning writer of 2008’s “Milk,” is “in discussions” to write the screenplay, and that Tom Hanks will serve as producer on the film, along with Green Day themselves. (Hanks and his business partner Gary Goetzman were producers on the film version of the Broadway smash “Mamma Mia!,” the musical based on the songs of ABBA.) All of that means that, after a voyage that started way back in 2004 &#8212 when Billie Joe Armstrong told MTV News that the bandmembers were “talking” to screenwriters about adapting the album for the big screen &#8212 American Idiot could finally find its way to your local multiplex. In 2006, Armstrong promised fans that the film version of Green Day’s hit album would “definitely … happen,” but the band instead turned their attention to creating their next album (2009’s 21st Century Breakdown ) and a stage version of Idiot, which premiered at Berkeley, California’s Berkeley Repertory Theater in ’09 before heading to Broadway. Still, they remained adamant that a film would be coming, with Armstrong telling The Associated Press that it would echo the feel of cult classic “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” Hanks’ reported attachment to the project is also interesting, considering that last year, Green Day dismissed his involvement as “just talk.” A spokesperson for Green Day could not be reached for comment by press time. Meanwhile, the “American Idiot” musical will officially end its Broadway run on April 24, with Armstrong reprising his role of St. Jimmy. Rebecca Romijn Stamos Guy from My Secret Identity’s Last Name Legs of the Day

I have no idea why I am posting this shit. Maybe it’s to address what a slut she is you know having married so many dudes. Maybe it’s cuz we all used to find her hot. Maybe it’s my inner muslim hot and bothered by the little skin she’s showing, inspiring me to rape and beat her senseless like she was a CBS reporter, maybe that was too soon to make a joke about as the CBS reporter still has stitches in her vagina holding her together after her Egypt incident I have little sympathy for, only because throwing yourself amongst crazed Arabs is kinda stupid, I mean look what they did to the Twin Towers…there’s no doubt they’d do it to a vagina if it was wearing a skirt and they knew they’d get away with it…not that that has anything to do with “Rebecca Rominjn Stamos Guy From My Secret Idenity’s Last Name”….but I feel like maybe it does…cuz pics like this only turn on her obsessed virgin loser fans who can’t get over their love for her…and sexually repressed muslims…Don’t drive your plane into my house please, I’m just stating the obvious. Maxim Bottom Feeds with Michelle Trachtenberg of the Day

This is funny to me on a few levels. Firstly, I hate Maxim. I think the magazine is shit, itt’s struggling, they can’t get a decent bitch in a photoshoot, but more importantly, they are fucking assholes. Their vice president emails me consistently acting like a total cocksucker… So when I saw this Michelle Trachtenberg shit, a bitch who people only found hot cuz she was Buffy’s underage sister on a show that lured in the perverts, over a decade ago… So when I saw them trying to make her doughy, uninteresting ass sexy, I realized, this was one of the final nails in the coffin of a magazine you’d think was innovative, if you were an idiot frat boy with no grasp of reality…which I am pretty sure you are… So here is their promo video 10,000 people watched in the last 5 days, cuz Maxim is a sinking ship…. And now I wait for their idiot marketing executive to email me to take this down, when he should be hiring me as his replacement, cuz clearly he fucking sucks and this is all his fault. No offense to Michelle Trachtenberg, I’m sure she’s a decent person and all that shit….She’s just not meant for Maxim and is the victim in all this…

Melissa Etheridge Set To Star In ‘American Idiot’ Musical

Rocker will replace Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong as St. Jimmy in the hit Broadway show for one week next month. By Jocelyn Vena Melissa Etheridge Photo: Jason Kempin/ Getty Images Melissa Etheridge will put a gender-bending spin on the lead role in the Broadway hit “American Idiot” when she joins the show for a one-week engagement beginning February 1. The singer will take the place of Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, who currently is tackling the part of St. Jimmy. “Billie Joe and I always believed that it would be incredible to have a woman take on the role of St. Jimmy. This character is seductive, thrilling and dangerous. Melissa Etheridge is all that and so much more,” the show’s Tony Award-winning director, Michael Mayer, said about the casting decision to BroadwayWorld.com . “She’s a rock icon and we couldn’t be more thrilled that she’s bringing her immense talent to ‘American Idiot.’ ” The Green Day singer just kicked off a 50-performance run of dates in the show earlier this month. Right now the schedule for upcoming “American Idiot” performances is as follows: Armstrong for the remainder of January, Etheridge for February 1–6 and Armstrong again for February 10–27. The actor who originated the part on Broadway, Tony Vincent, ended his run as St. Jimmy on December 30. Armstrong previously appeared in eight performances of the stage show in September 2010. During that stretch, ticket sales grew to more than $1 million; last week’s grosses for “American Idiot” were around $600,000. The musical is based on Green Day’s smash 2004 album of the same name. When “American Idiot” opened in April 2010, Armstrong talked with MTV News about the show and the recording. “I think, politically, American Idiot , when we were writing it, it was trying to make sense out of a big mess,” he explained. “You’re trying to find something to believe in, but it’s difficult when you’re getting bombarded with useless information. So it’s just [about] trying to find your identity and your individualism in the midst of all that.” Would you be excited to see Melissa Etheridge star in “American Idiot”? Lindsay Lohan Set To Leave Rehab Facility

Actress has been at the Betty Ford Center since September and reportedly has plans for ‘a comeback.’ By Gil Kaufman Lindsay Lohan (file) Photo: Robyn Beck/ Getty Images After her longest sustained stay in a rehab facility, troubled actress Lindsay Lohan is reportedly set to leave the Betty Ford Center on Monday (January 3). Following months of drama that included a failed drug test and an alleged altercation with a rehab worker , Lohan, 24, will emerge into an uncertain future thanks to her ongoing legal and personal struggles. She’s already lost one of the few parts Hollywood has offered her in recent years, the lead role in the Linda Lovelace biopic “Inferno,” and given her past, it’s unclear what the onetime double threat singer/actress’ next move could be. Lohan’s fourth stint in rehab came after she voluntarily entered the Ford Center in late September following an admission that she’d failed a court-mandated drug test . It was preceded by a 14-hour trip to jail — the same one she’d exited in August for violating her probation. That was followed by 23 days in court-ordered rehab. In the ensuing months, Lohan was dropped from “Inferno” after director Matthew Wilder said he was unable to obtain insurance for the actress in the wake of her troubles. In December, there was a false report that she might be headed to “Dancing With the Stars,” a development that, if true, would not have been a promising one for an actress who is attempting to make a serious comeback. And, late last month, the woman who accused Lohan of assault at the Ford Center was fired for revealing details about the incident to TMZ; she later agreed to drop charges against the star. With no known movie deals currently inked, Lohan could be facing one of her longest sustained breaks from the big screen since her debut in 1998’s remake of “The Parent Trap.” After a series of flops (“Bobby,” “Georgia Rule,” “I Know Who Killed Me,” “Chapter 27” and the ABC Family movie “Labor Pains”), Lohan’s only significant role of note in the past year is a cameo in “Machete.” The one bright spot in Lohan’s career — despite harsh disses from Kanye West — has been her foray into fashion. E! News reported that Lohan wants to expand her 6126 fashion line to include footwear in addition to leggings. Though the line isn’t likely to debut until later this year, a rep for 6126 told E! that Lohan is very involved in the new project. “She’ll finalize everything when she’s out.” The rep added that the shoes Lohan was mulling over would be “classic, glamorous, timeless with a sexy flair.” Despite a cloudy future, Lohan posted a hopeful message on Twitter on New Year’s Day, writing, “Today is the first day of the rest of my life,” and then quoted spiritual icon Mahatma Ghandi’s message that, “The future depends on what we do in the present.” Her sometimes estranged father, Michael, told CBS News that his daughter is doing “unbelievably” well. “She’s turned this whole situation around to use this to her advantage and she has taken the right steps and put the right people back in her life that she had at the best part of her life to really use it as a springboard,” Lohan said. Though her father is bullish on Lindsay’s release, an addiction specialist told CBS News that the 90-day stay in treatment is the beginning of a long, hard road. “You either change your behavior and your lifestyle, or you’re going to end up institutionalized, crazy or dead,” Howard Samuels said. He recommended that Lohan lie low for a while, though the “Mean Girls” star already seems eager to hit the ground running. She recently posted provocative pictures taken in August 2010, which she said, “are for my comeback,” and a slick new site, LindsayLohan.com features an image of her under a swinging chandelier with a soundtrack provided by La Roux’s “In for the Kill” and the words “coming soon.” Do you think Lindsay can make a comeback? Green Day To Drop Awesome Live Album/DVD In March

While a track list isn’t available, band has hinted that ‘Cigarettes and Valentines’ could make the cut. By James Montgomery Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Photo: Rich Sancho/ MTV News For years now, Green Day have made a point of turning their live shows into all-out arena-rock events, complete with gratuitous pyro, even more gratuitous stage props (T-shirt launchers, toilet-paper guns, water cannons, etc.), and, of course, some good-old-fashioned crowd participation . And now, they’re packaging all that madness for the masses, with the appropriately titled Awesome as F—, a live CD/DVD set to hit stores March 15. That’s according to a spokesperson for their label, Reprise Records, though eagle-eyed fans probably could have guessed something was in the works as far back as August, when the band took to their Twitter account to announce, “We’ve been recording our live shows since the beginning of tour. Possible live album coming. A ton of songs!” In other tweets , they encouraged fans to bring “Awesome as F—” signs to shows and even hinted that a version of “Cigarettes and Valentines” — a song from their now-legendary scrapped album that pre-dated American Idiot, which they performed live for the first time during an August show in Denver — would appear on the album . Awesome as F— is already listed on Amazon.com as a two-disc set. At press time, a track list for the album was not available. Green Day’s last live album was 2005’s Bullet in a Bible, recorded at the Milton Keynes National Bowl in England. Last year, they also released a mini live set, Last Night on Earth, taken from a performance in Tokyo. Are you excited for the Green Day live album? Let us know in the comments! Extortion Case Against Oksana Grigorieva Looking Thinner Than Expected

Mel Gibson claims Oksana Grigorieva tried to extort him, and despite what a shady character she is, proving that claim is proving difficult. The investigation of Gibson’s accusations that his former flame and the mother of his daughter tried to extort him is weak, reports indicate. “It’s looking more and more like no crime was committed by Ms. Grigorieva,” a well placed source with knowledge of the situation says. Is Oksana Grigorieva about to be let off the hook? The troubled actor is being investigated for domestic violence against Oksana Grigorieva , a separate investigation also nearing its end. Mel Gibson and his attorney, Blair Berk, met with officials to discuss what they believe was deliberate extortion on the part of Oksana. But it looks like actual evidence is thinner than Lindsay Lohan. “There is simply no smoking gun against Oksana,” the source said . “There are emails which Gibson’s camp say is clearly extortion.” But those emails can also be viewed in the context of an ongoing negotiation between Mel and Oksana regarding custody of Lucia. That makes it tougher to prove extortion, the sources say. Oksana was represented by a very well regarded lawyer, Eric George and walked away from the large settlement she tried to procure, said the well-placed source, noting complications in any potential criminal case against Oksana. Extortion is always hard to prove, especially if the person being accused was already repped by a lawyer and in a custody dispute. Unless you’re the idiot who tried to bilk David Letterman and make it beyond obvious, it’s very tough to make the charge stand up. The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department hasn’t officially handed over the extortion case to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office.

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Returning To Broadway’s ‘American Idiot’

Frontman will appear in 50 more performances of the musical inspired by his band’s landmark punk-rock concept album. By Gil Kaufman Billie Joe Armstrong performs with the cast of “American Idiot” on September 28, 2010 Photo: Slaven Vlasic/ Getty Images Talk about having the boss watching your work all the time. Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong apparently had such a blast appearing in “American Idiot,” the hit Broadway show based on his band’s landmark punk-rock concept album, that he’s agreed to take the stage again — 50 more times, in fact. According to an announcement on the show’s website , after dropping in for a handful of turns as the character St. Jimmy, Armstrong will step into his Doc Martens again, beginning January 1 and running through February 27 at New York’s St. James Theatre. The cameos will come in three stretches, from January 1-9, January 18-30 and February 10-27. The actor who originated the part on Broadway, Tony Vincent, will end his run as St. Jimmy on December 30. The Tony-winning show based on the band’s Grammy-winning 2004 album got a box-office boost when Armstrong made his Broadway debut in September during eight performances. During that stretch, ticket sales grew to more than $1 million; last week’s grosses were around $600,000. You can expect tickets for those shows to be a bit harder to get. While the show has been playing to just over 50 percent capacity in recent weeks, The New York Times reported that it was boasting a nearly sold-out 93.4 percent capacity reading when Armstrong joined the cast . Though St. Jimmy doesn’t show up until midway through the show, when Armstrong burst onto the stage during his September and October slots, the audience went wild as he ripped into his theme song, “St. Jimmy,” and mixed in the perfect combination of cocky, sneering attitude. By night’s end, he took his curtain calls with the rest of the cast and played guitar on the evening-ending “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” then came back out for a second bow and some hand-slapping with the patrons down front.
