My name is Alexandra. Not only was it April 13th, it was…

My name is Alexandra. Not only was it April 13th , it was officially the best day of my life. Friday the 13th was not so unlucky for me at all! I found out that Justin was going to be visiting a school and I immediately begged my parents to take me. My mom agreed because she knows I have been obsessed with him for over 4 years. I missed school that day and waited for him to come for 3 hours. I was with my mom, my grandma, my best friend and my little sister. There were many cars that we thought were Justin but they were just decoys. One of the trucks was Kenny Hamilton. I could not believe that I saw Kenny and he rolled down his window to say hi. Everyone started to say how Justin was hiding in Kenny’s truck and how he didn’t want to see his fans. I immediately knew this wasn’t how Justin would behave, he loves his fans. Finally at 1:20pm, a tan GMC truck slowly made it’s way into the main entrance of the school. The truck slowly rolled down the windows and Justin said hi to his fans . At first there was an extreme pause because all of us were so caught up in the moment. We finally all realized and the screaming began. Justin asked if anyone wanted an autograph and I quickly threw my Justin Bieber notepad in the car and Pattie handed it to Justin. He signed it and smiled. While this was happening, he was holding on to my wrist . I realized that Selena was next to Pattie in the car and Scooter was in the back. There are no other words to describe Justin then absolutely flawless. There were many news cast and I got on the news many times for being the girl who was absolutely speechless. I was shaking and had so many emotions running through me at once. This moment still doesn’t feel real because for 4 years I have been a belieber and the day finally came when I met my idol. All I have ever wanted was to meet Justin Bieber and my dream has come true. This will be a memory that I will be able to tell my children when I grow up. I haven’t been able to sleep at all because I keep replaying the memory over and over in my head. Thank you so much for everything Justin! You are such an amazing person and you give hope to all the beliebers out there. You taught me to NEVER SAY NEVER and I will always dream. This will forever be the best day of my life! -@NicoletteBiebe2 Read the rest here: My name is Alexandra. Not only was it April 13th, it was…

Should Taylor Swift And One Direction’s Harry Styles Date?

Fans had very strong reactions when MTV News reported about the rumored couple. By Katie Byrne Taylor Swift Photo: Getty Images Are Taylor Swift and One Direction ‘s Harry Styles a couple? They’re not talking — but you certainly are. On Wednesday, we posted some compelling evidence that Swift and Styles might be linked up (Exhibit A: This video , in which 1D rib their bandmate about Taylor during an MTV News interview), and fans certainly had their opinions on the potential pair. Many readers chalked it up to one more dude caught in the Taylor Swift rumor mill. “I think it’s time to stop the Taylor Swift likes whoever nonsense,” BrianC6234 wrote in the MTV News comments section. “First of all, why does it matter? But even if you care, these rumors have all been false. Isn’t she dating that guy from ‘Les Miserables’? I mean Zac Efron. Wait, no, it’s Tim Tebow. Get the point?” “These rumors have always been wrong,” WeeRu chimed in. “Chord Overstreet, that guy from Parachute, Zac Efron and now Harry Styles? I don’t think so.” RachV2389 added: “Guy after guy. Well … she hasn’t had a song about a British boy yet!” A lot of Taylor fans out there are hopeless romantics, just like their idol, and have their fingers crossed that the One Direction heartthrob is “The One” for Swift. “Harry is a good guy,” xLara_Stylesx wrote. “If you watch all his videos you will see that he has a good personality. And Taylor deserves a boyfriend like him (:” “I love them both,” mrs.worldwide said. “It would be nice if they were together.” (BTW, should we get started on the joint nickname? We’re thinking Haylor or Swiftles.) But it wasn’t all roses and sunshine: Some short-and-not-so-sweet reactions to the news included “SWEET BABY JESUS NO” and “no, please no!” “Heeeck no,” Stephanie Lynn Roberts posted on MTV News’ Facebook page. “Harry has class. TSwift would just break up with him to get a new hit song.” Some fans pointed out the age difference between the 18-year-old boy bander and 22-year-old country superstar. “Come on, Taylor, the kid is only 18,” Ariela M. Garcia wrote, which prompted Facebook user Holly McQuithey to point out Styles’ 32-year-old ex. “Harry dated Caroline Flack. There is no age limit for that boy. Let him be happy.” But one reader, MinkenGjerald, really made us laugh with their reason the couple will never work: “Well… no.. Harry is a sex bomb and Taylor is so innocent.” What do you think? ‘Dancing With The Stars’: Katherine Jenkins Rules Once More

Opera singer scored 29 out of 30 on night when contestants danced to music from their ‘most memorable years.’ By Kelley L. Carter Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas on “Dancing With the Stars” Photo: ABC Monday night’s “Dancing With the Stars” episode was an emotional one. No was one given the boot — that’ll happen Tuesday night (April 3) with the second elimination of the season — but the theme was “most memorable year,” and the celebrity contestants got deep and personal. And then some. At the top of the pack was singer Katherine Jenkins , who took us back to 1996 — the year she learned her dad had lung cancer. She and her partner Mark Ballas did the waltz, and by the end of the routine, she was in tears. And she wasn’t alone. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba cried with her and told her the dance was like magic. She scored the first pair of 10s of the season, earning 29/30 . Here’s how everyone else fared: William Levy and Cheryl Burke The sexy soap star picked 1995, which was the year he arrived in the U.S. from his native Cuba. He told the story of his stepdad, who was a political prisoner before finding asylum in the States. His salsa impressed the judges. “You put a whole new meaning into free Willy!” head judge Len Goodman told him. 28/30 Maria Menounos and Derek Hough The TV host picked 1988 as her most memorable year. That’s when she was 10 years old and realized just how hard her Greek-immigrant parents worked to make a better life for their children. She did the rumba to a slow version of Madonna’s “Material Girl,” and the judges loved her sensual routine. Hard-to-please Goodman told her the dance was “a mix of the ballroom with a touch of the bedroom.” 27/30 Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd The football star picked 2010, which was when his best friend died of cancer. In his video before he performed live, he became teary-eyed, saying, “I can never get it out of my mind because he died in my arms.” He danced the rumba, and Inaba said she was touched by his story and performance. Goodman thought the dance was top-notch. 26/30 Jaleel White and Kym Johnson The moment old-school TV nerds have been waiting for: White picked the year he got to play Stefan Urquelle, the alter ego to his longtime nerdy character Steve Urkel on “Family Matters.” He took on the rumba, and the judges said that he was back in the game and improved greatly from last week’s performance. Judge Bruno Tonioli called him cool and smooth. 25/30 Roshon Fegan’s and Chelsie Hightower The Disney kid picked 1996, which is the year that he saw his idol and legend Michael Jackson onstage. He danced the samba, and Goodman said he had flair, but Inaba took issue with his timing, saying it was off. 25/30 Melissa Gilbert and Maks Chmerkovskiy The actress picked 2010, the year that she fell and broke her back. She called the experience gut-wrenching and tearfully explained that following the accident, she could barely walk, much less dance. She danced the jive, and Goodman said she was back in the competition. 24/30 Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus The soul legend picked 1957 because it was the year of her first tour and the year she met James Brown. She said it was the beginning of her career education and that it was a happy memory, not a sad one. She did the foxtrot to a Sam Cook song — noting that Cook taught her about performing back in the day — and Inaba thought the dance was sensuous and soulful. Tonioli said he thought she performed it with grace. 24/30 Sherri Shepard and Val Chmerkovskiy The talk-show co-host picked 2005, the year her son Jeffrey was born, weighing only 1 pound, 10 ounces. She cried, saying that she was so thankful, considering that the prognosis at the time was that he might have cerebral palsy and paralysis. She danced the rumba, with Goodman saying he appreciated the emotion she put into the dance. 24/30 Jack Wagner and Anna Trebunskaya The actor picked a more recent year: 2011. He said that was the year he met a daughter — she’s 23 now — that he never knew he had. He danced the samba, crying still. Goodman said he like the rhythm and said it was his best dance so far. 24/30 Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff The singer picked 1998 because he moved to New York City that year to give it a go as a musician. Inaba said her heart got all fluttery watching him. The judges overall thought he was progressing. 24/30 Which celebrity are you rooting for on “Dancing With the Stars”? Tell us in the comments!

Justin Bieber Channels Justin Timberlake On ‘Boyfriend’

Lead Believe single dropped at midnight on Monday. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Tween dream swagger is all over Justin Bieber ‘s lead Believe single, “Boyfriend.” Taking several cues from Justin Timberlake’s early post-‘NSYNC work, the track amps up Bieber’s credibility as a teen idol and remixes it with the type of production work longtime pop music fans can appreciate. Lyrically, it sounds a bit silly at times (like when Bieber proposes he and his girl eat fondue by the fire), but Bieber’s delivery of the lines proves that at 18, he’s willing to take the steps to progress forward in the world of pop. Sometimes it seems a little too similar to the way the other Justin delivers lines, but “Boyfriend,” co-produced and co-written by Mike Posner, is light-years beyond the sugary sweet “Baby.” The song opens pretty sparsely, with just a thumping beat, a “woo” noise and Bieber’s sing-songy rap, before a guitar comes in as Bieber makes his plea to win a girl over. The chorus will have girls dancing around thanks to its bumping beat and chugging R&B-influenced instrumentation. He sings, “I could be a gentleman/ Everything you want/ If I was your boyfriend/ I’d never let you go/ I’d never let you go,” before rapping, “Tell me what you like.” Bieber uses some form of the word “swag” no fewer than four times on the track, including the somewhat perplexing line, “Swag, swag, swag on you.” But regardless of what Bieber detractors might have to say, his Beliebers, who have aged right along with their idol, will appreciate his more grown-up sound on the record. The song officially dropped at midnight on Monday. Believe will be released later this year. As for the video, his manager, Scooter Braun, tweeted that it’s already in the works. American Idol Power Poll: The Top 10

With the American Ido l top 10 taking the stage again tonight, and with this shaping up to be one of the more hotly-contested seasons to date, it’s time for the first THG Power Poll of the season. Who do you see as the favorite right now? 10. Deandre Brackensick : Would have been our choice to leave after last week’s debacle. He can hit the high notes… and that’s about it. 9. Heejun Han : Love the personality, don’t see anything on stage that makes him standout above the rest. It’s solid and nothing more or less. 8. Elise Testone : Might suffer some likability issues. Did you notice her NOT applauding for Erika last week? Or not hugging Skylar? Yes, we’re forced to nitpick when the talent is this even. We did love her version of ” Let’s Stay Together .” 7. Joshua Ledet : We expect plenty of disagreement here. It’s not a question of his voice, just of his theatrics. Ledet’s ” When a Man Loves a Woman ” may have been the single best of any contestant this season, but we can see his act growing old. 6. Skylar Laine : She has the energy and the attitude, that’s for sure. She also has the identity: a rocking country chick. She just lacks the range. 5. Erika Van Pelt : Loved her take on“Edge of Glory.” A smooth, consistent voice makes it hard to see this finalist faltering in the next few weeks. 4. Colton Dixon : Love the risks he takes – a song by White Lion ?!? – and love his confidence on stage. Most definitely stands out on a weekly basis. 3. Jessica Sanchez : Will go down in Idol history for her version of “ I Will Always Love You .” That should be enough to keep her around for awhile. But can she go outside the world of ballads? A less-than-impressive take on “Turn the Beat Around” causes us to wonder. 2. Hollie Cavanagh : Has she had an off week yet? Memorable auditions of “Reflection,” “All the Man That I Need,” and “The Power of Love” prove she has staying power. Could work on her versatility and stage presence. 1. Phillip Phillips : He’s a cute young white guy with a guitar. Until American Idol viewers prove they are capable of crowning someone else, he has to be the favorite. WHO IS YOUR AMERICAN IDOL FAVORITE?

Rhymes With Snitch Brandy has often said that Whitney Houston was her inspiration to sing. Whitney and Brandy became close after Whitney played Brandy’s fairy godmother in a 1997 Cinderella TV movie. Whitney died on Brandy’s birthday and Brandy is completely destroyed… Brandy tells Us Weekly, “My heart is destroyed. I lost my idol and dear friend. Kanye West’s Grammy Snub Had Jimmy Jam ‘A Little Surprised’

The Recording Academy’s chair emeritus weighs in on this year’s biggest Grammy controversy. By James Montgomery Kanye West Photo: Flanigan/ Getty Images LOS ANGELES — First and foremost, Jimmy Jam is best known as one-half of the most successful production duos on the planet, working with cohort Terry Lewis to amass a string of 16 #1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 for the likes of Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson and Usher. But over the years, Jam has also become known for his work with the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, where he currently serves as chair emeritus. Of course, NARAS is the organization that hands out the Grammy Awards , so when MTV News spoke with Jam on Friday night’s MusiCares red carpet, we figured there was no one better to weigh in on this year’s biggest Grammy controversy : the odd (and some would say inexcusable) absence of Kanye West ‘s universally acclaimed My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy in the Album of the Year category. And Jam wasn’t afraid to address the issue. He’ll be the first to admit that sometimes the Grammy voters make, uh, interesting choices when it comes to nominations. He thinks he knows what happened in Kanye’s case: He actually put out two really great albums during the eligibility period. “I was a little surprised that it did not get nominated,” Jam said. “But it happens a lot of times when you have two really great records, and by the way, Watch the Throne is a great album on it’s own. Sometimes the votes split, and that may have been what happened.” Of course, there are some who believe that the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy AOTY snub had less to do with vote splitting and more to do with the Grammys’ dislike for West and his antics. But Jam wants to let everyone know that’s simply not the case. In fact, he’s one of the rapper’s biggest supporters. To him, this was simply a matter of bad timing. Nothing more, nothing less. “It’s interesting, because we don’t really tabulate the votes … it goes to a separate place [the auditing firm of Deloitte]. We don’t touch that stuff,” Jam said. “So a lot of times, [we’re] very surprised by what the nominations actually end up being. I think Kanye’s record is one of the best records of the year, but sometimes it’s just timing.” Chaos! Profanity! Wardrobe malfunctions! Don’t miss our Grammy red-carpet live stream this Sunday, February 12, for a full three hours of mayhem, starting at 5 p.m. ET on MTV.com.
