Daniel Radcliffe Is ‘Phenomenal,’ Elizabeth Olsen Raves

‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’ actress is getting ready to star opposite Radcliffe in the thriller ‘Kill Your Darlings.’ By Josh Wigler, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Cillian Murphy and Elizxabeth Olson Photo: MTV News PARK CITY, Utah — Daniel Radcliffe is no longer just the Boy Who Lived — at this stage, he’s the Man Who Flourished. Indeed, Radcliffe has kept his post-“Potter” career very interesting, what with a turn as a horror lead in next month’s “Woman in Black,” a lengthy run on Broadway in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” and even a hosting stint on “Saturday Night Live” earlier this year. He’s set to keep his fans guessing even further with his next confirmed movie, “Kill Your Darlings,” which tells the tale of how Beat Generation icons Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and Lucien Carr first met — and how that meeting eventually led to murder. Radcliffe plays Ginsberg in the film, and starring opposite him is up-and-coming actress Elizabeth Olsen. The brilliant young star of “Martha Marcy May Marlene” spoke with MTV News about joining the cast of “Kill Your Darlings,” making her admiration for the “Harry Potter” star very well-known. “He is so phenomenal,” Olsen said at the Sundance Film Festival , where she’s repping the paranormal thriller “Red Lights.” “He’s an incredible person. He’s so funny and smart and fun. He’s such a good guy.” Olsen is just one small cog in the greater machine of “Kill Your Darlings,” according to the actress. She said she only appears in “three scenes of that movie” as Edie Parker, girlfriend of Jack Kerouac. “Edie Parker is the one who introduced Ginsberg to Lucien Carr and Jack Kerouac,” she explained of her role. “She’s kind of the glue between them. I’m just there for a few scenes to explain that part of the story. But her personal life is really, really incredible.” The 2012 Sundance Film Festival is officially under way, and the MTV Movies team is on the ground reporting on the hottest stars and the movies everyone will be talking about in the year to come. South Carolina Primary Goes To Newt Gingrich

Mitt Romney had a sizable lead going into the week only to fall short to the onetime House speaker. By Gil Kaufman Newt Gingrich Photo: Win McNamee/Getty Images If it weren’t clear before, the results of the South Carolina primary Saturday night (January 21) made it crystal that former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is in for the fight of his political life in his quest to nab the Republican presidential nomination . After holding on to a double-digit lead as recently as Tuesday, Romney came up short in South Carolina, defeated by a surging Newt Gingrich. Buoyed by two solid debate appearances this week, former House Speaker Gingrich managed to turn the tide in the first contest in the South, proving once again that the party faithful are not yet willing to fall into lockstep and give Romney a smooth ride to the nomination. Gingrich pulled off the upset victory despite a potentially crushing distraction Thursday in the form of an ABC News interview with his second ex-wife. In it, Marianne Gingrich claimed the ex-congressman had asked her to agree to an open marriage so he could carry on an affair with his now-third wife. Romney started the week with a solid lead, but the distance between him and Gingrich shrunk in the days before the primary. In addition, on Thursday, the race was scrambled thanks to a trio of unforeseen events that further muddied the waters. First, Republican leaders in Iowa announced that the final count in that state’s caucus revealed that Romney’s eight-point win over Rick Santorum was actually a 34-point loss, which handed the former Pennsylvania senator a pyrrhic victory in that first-in-the-nation contest. A short time later, Texas Governor Rick Perry announced he was suspending his campaign and would be throwing his support behind Gingrich, which could solidify the former House leader’s draw to the all-important bloc of Evangelical Christian voters. The third shoe to drop was the ABC interview. By Friday night, a Romney adviser told CNN the race was “real tight,” even as a Gingrich staffer predicted a victory after the candidate came in fourth place in the two previous primaries. Santorum seemed to have secured third place at press time, with Libertarian candidate Congressman Ron Paul at fourth. Before results were announced, CNN reported that exit polls show the most important quality for Republican voters is that a candidate can beat President Obama. Experts told MTV News that if Romney landed his second win in a row, he might take the wind out of Gingrich’s sails and get one step closer to a virtual lock on the nomination should he win the next test, the January 31 primary in Florida. A further black cloud over the Gingrich win for Romney: The winner of the S.C. primary has gone on to secure the Republican nomination in every election since 1980. Long considered the front-runner and likely nominee, Romney has gone from looking like he would win an unprecedented three primaries in a row to start the season to just one victory and continuing questions about his appeal to the party’s conservative base. Though his campaign continues to be far ahead of the rest of the field in fundraising, even if Romney can pull it out, the constant battering of his image and r

Jessica Alba Makes A Case For Why Beyonce and Jay-Z Should Sell Baby Blue’s Photos… Make That Baby Rich!

Jessica Alba isn’t telling BeyBey what to do or anything, but she does have some motherly advice — sell Baby Blue’s photos to the highest bidder and make that baby rich off money SHE earned. Mother of two Jessica Alba has some advice for new parents Beyoncé and Jay-Z. Alba suggests that the celebrity couple make a deal to sell the first photos of daughter Blue Ivy Carter and either put the proceeds in a trust fund or donate the money to charity. Alba tells CNN’s A.J. Hammer that her decision, made with husband Cash Warren, to sell the first photos of daughter Honor Marie Warren in 2008 was the right move. Alba reportedly received $1.5 million from OK! magazine for the deal. “For our family, we just wanted to control the experience,” Alba explained. “We put the money that the picture made into a bank account for Honor to do whatever she wants to do with. It’s her picture, it’s her birth, and we didn’t want it to be like a weird thing when we were walking out of the house for the first time.” Alba says that selling the first picture cut down on paparazzi feverishly trying to snap pics of the newborn. “If there’s a price tag on your child — which is so bizarre — people will go to crazy lengths,” said Alba. “We wanted to avoid that hysteria.” Alba also reveals that shooting the images for OK! magazine was a great experience. “We were friends with the photographer. It was just a nice day in the house. We’ll have those beautiful pictures forever,” Alba said. “You can give the money to charity and to your baby and that’s it.” But Alba isn’t trying to force the decision on Beyoncé and Jay-Z. “To each his own,” she said. “The biggest thing is having a healthy baby … I’m sure Beyoncé will make the best decision for her family.” Alba has recently launched a line of eco-friendly household products, called The Honest Company, inspired by wanting to use the safest products around her two daughters. She makes a good point, granted the Knowles-Carters don’t need the money… But we can think of a few reasons why they should listen to Jessica. It would put a stop to the rampant photoshopping of fake Baby Blue pictures like the ones 50 Cent posted. And there’s plenty more where those came from. Keep clicking to see some of our faves!

‘Hunger Games’ Meets Robert Pattinson In Movie Brawl Finals

RPattz’s indie ‘Cosmopolis’ takes on the fresh franchise in MTV Movie Brawl 2012 — vote now! By Eric Ditzian Jennifer Lawrence in “The Hunger Games” Photo: Lionsgate It started three weeks ago with a simple question: What is truly the must-see movie of 2012? Everyone’s got an opinion. Maybe you’re a “Hobbit” guy who can’t believe that, after years of delay, Peter Jackson is set to deliver the first part of his series in December. Or perhaps you’re a “Dark Knight Rises” gal with an insatiable itch to see how Christopher Nolan wraps up his Batman trilogy. Or, hey, possibly you’re thinking, “Screw all these studio-driven tentpoles! I can’t wait for indies like ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ to hit and show us Emma Watson in her first post-‘Harry Potter’ role!” But we got to wondering: What’s the consensus pick? What’s the collective viewpoint across the globe? So we launched MTV Movie Brawl 2012 , a fan-driven tournament to determine the year’s most-anticipated film. Millions of votes have been cast thus far. The debate has echoed from the pages of MTV News to the updates of the Twitterverse and beyond. Now just two movies remain: “The Hunger Games” and “Cosmopolis.” One is a fresh franchise with a huge fanbase. The other is an indie drama featuring one of the biggest stars on the planet. And less than one day into the action — with hundreds of thousands of votes already cast — it’s anybody’s guess what is going to happen. And we couldn’t be more psyched about it. As of this writing ,”Hunger Games” is up by less than 2 percent over Robert Pattinson’s “Cosmopolis.” It’s been an unlikely run for RPattz’s cerebral drama, having entered the Brawl bracket as a #4 seed after an impressive run in the play-in round. From there, “Cosmopolis” dispatched another Pattinson flick in “Bel Ami,” then shockingly dispatched his own “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.” “The Dark Knight Rises” proved to be no match for “Cosmopolis,” as well, and so the movie came to face “Hunger Games.” Jennifer Lawrence’s film, which hits theaters in March, was a front-runner from the beginning, and it has not disappointed. Both “John Carter” and Daniel Radcliffe’s “Woman in Black” could not trip up the win-at-all-costs run of “Hunger Games.” So we wonder: Can Pattinson accomplish what no other star has so far in the Brawl? Can he fell the mighty “Hunger Games”? All will become clear when the polls close Monday at 5 p.m. Until then, the vote totals are being closely guarded. It’s up to the fans to keep voting for their fave flick and to make sure their must-see movie is crowned the champion of MTV Movie Brawl 2012. Vote For Your Favorite Upcoming Flick In MTV’s Movie Brawl 2012! What are you waiting for? “Hunger Games” and “Cosmopolis” need your support. It’s time to show character, poise and heart. Vote for your pick now at MTV Movie Brawl 2012 ! Related Videos MTV Movie Brawl 2012! Related Photos The Hunger Games

50 Cent Wants To Release Back-To-Back Albums

50 tells Forbes he has ‘recorded so much material’ since last album in 2009. By Rob Markman 50 Cent Photo: Kristian Dowling/Getty Images 50 Cent may be fighting with his record label to release his oft-delayed fifth studio album, but that hasn’t stopped the G-Unit general from planning for his sixth LP. Still no word when G-Unit and Interscope will release Fif’s next album, but when they do, the get Rich or Die Tryin’ MC wants to hit the shelves again instead of hitting the road. “This time I’m not sure if I’ll tour the world like I did on my last project, ’cause it makes my album cycle two years long,” 50 told Forbes in a video interview. “So I think I’d like to launch this record and come right back and launch another record following it.” Releasing this fifth album has been a constant battle for 50. The rapper blasted Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre last summer, but later calmed his angst and made peace. Earlier this month, 50 took to Twitter and once gain blasted Interscope after a song slated for his album leaked onto the Internet. “I have lost all faith in the team I’m on,” he wrote. A few days later he backed down. “Discovered a computer glitch leaked my song,” 50 tweeted on January 8. “Sorry to team at Interscope for over reacting!” Whatever the holdup, there has been a noticeable gap between Fif’s retail releases. His last album, Before I Self Destruct, hit shelves in November 2009 and the Queens MC has amassed so many songs since then that he has enough for two projects. “It’s been three years since my last album, so I’ve recorded so much material that I’m really excited about trying to get those ideas to the general public so they get a chance to hear it and appreciate it,” he said. What do you hope to hear from 50 Cent’s much-anticipated fifth album? Let us know in the comments! Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: 50 Cent Related Artists 50 Cent

Sundance 2012 Concert Guide: Who’s Playing When

Drake, Wiz Khalifa, Afrojack and more set to perform at film festival in Park City, Utah. By Kara Warner The Egyptian theater in Park City, Utah Photo: Alexandra Wyman/Getty Images For those unfamiliar with the goings-on at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, the annual star-studded event has morphed from a modest independent film festival into a full-blown showcase for all aspects of the entertainment industry, including film, television and music — not to mention the promotional opportunities for a multitude of consumer goods and lifestyle brands at the festival’s infamous gifting lounges. In regard to the musical element of the festival, this year’s performance and concert lineup features a slew of big names more accustomed to large venues with sell-out crowds than the intimate settings at Sundance’s smaller-scale venues. Park City Live in association with Continuum Entertainment Group will host live performances by LMFAO & House of Party Rock on Saturday, deadmau5 on Sunday, and Drake on Monday at the Memorial Building at 427 Main Street. Microsoft’s Bing Bar, located at the historic former Claim Jumper Hotel on Main Street, will feature Wiz Khalifa and Jason Mraz on Friday, Drake on Saturday, Cobra Starship on Sunday, Theophilus London on Monday, and James Murphy on Tuesday. Their SPIN Music Sessions series will include happy-hour shows by Gary Clark Jr. on Friday, Cool Kids on Saturday, Group Love on Sunday, and Fitz and the Tantrums on Monday. Following Friday’s artist talk with guests Mary J. Blige and Mos Def, celebrating the documentary “Invisible War,” the Sundance Channel is hosting a special afterparty with performances by Estelle and DJ Jesse Marco at Sugar Lounge on Main Street. Other acts to look out for include Afrojack on Thursday (January 19), OneRepublic at Park City Live on Tuesday, and the All-American Rejects on Wednesday as part of Sundance’s ASCAP event. Britney Spears: Photoshopped Into V Pics?

In the upcoming issue of V Magazine, Britney Spears discusses her management team, calling them ” her second family ,” and poses for photos with them. Well, the second part of that is up for debate. The images have attracted considerable scrutiny, with some remarking on how quickly Spears seems to have slimmed down for this particular shoot. “She has clearly been working out regularly in an effort to achieve such a healthy, lean look,” the Daily Mail (UK) notes judiciously . Fans were less PC. “Photoshopped a dillion! That’s her head on someone else’s body,” remarked one fan site. “Even Ray Charles can see the terrible ‘Cut and Paste’ job.” Weight-wise, it’s not like Britney has been letting herself go lately. In fact, she’s thinner at the end of her recent tour than she has been in months. The Britney Spears photos do look weird though. The lighting is off and her body seems to glow almost unnaturally. Are they posing with a Britney cardboard cutout? Or is that really Brit’s face on someone else’s body? If V did alter the images, why bother??! So many questions here. You tell us: Is Britney Photoshopped in these pics?

People’s Choice Awards Preview: ‘Hunger Games’ Cast, Demi Lovato, More Set To Hit Stage

Stars of ‘Twilight’ and ‘Harry Potter’ also on star-studded lineup for show airing tonight on CBS at 9 p.m. ET. By John Mitchell Jennifer Lawrence Photo: Dan Kitwood/Getty Images The People’s Choice Awards may be one of the more democratic awards shows of the season. After all, it’s fans, and not a faceless “academy” of industry professionals that decide who’ll take home the big PCA prizes in categories like Favorite Tour Headliner, Favorite TV Celebreality Star and Favorite Movie Star Under 25. And it’s all happening tonight at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. Host Kaley Cuoco, herself a nominee for her turn on “The Big Bang Theory,” promised a fun-filled evening, telling Ryan Seacrest on his radio show, “I’m really looking forward to it and there are a lot of great musical numbers and it’s going to be fun.” She also joked with the “American Idol” host that she plans on “changing 47 times, 47 dresses. I’m changing every 5 minutes. I want to go down in the Hall of Fame with that. So we’ll see how many times I can possibly change.” So who can fans expect to see on the red carpet? Only some of the biggest A-listers from the worlds of film, TV and music, including “Twilight” stars Robert Pattinson and Ashley Greene; “Hunger Games” leads Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson; as well as Emma Stone, Vanessa Hudgens, Chloe Grace Moretz, Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, Julianne Hough and “Glee” stars Lea Michele and Cory Monteith. Also expected to attend are Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson and Tom Felton of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” which leads all nominees this year. “Potter” heads into the awards with nine nominations for Favorite Movie and Favorite Action Movie, Favorite Actor (Radcliffe), Favorite Movie Star Under 25 (Radcliffe, Grint, Felton and Watson), Favorite Ensemble Movie Cast and Favorite Book Adaptation. One notable absence is nominee Katy Perry, who was set to make her first public appearance following the announcement of her divorce from Russell Brand at tonight’s live event but cancelled earlier this week. She apologized to her fans on Twitter , writing, “Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People’s Choice Awards. I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS.” Perry is nominated for a whopping seven People’s Choice Awards, including Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Song of the Year (“E.T.”), Favorite Pop Artist, Favorite Animated Movie Voice (“The Smurfs”) and Favorite Music Video for “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).” PCA executive producer Mark Burnett clearly sympathizes with Perry’s decision not to attend , telling E! News that her choice was completely “understandable.” The show will include musical performances from Faith Hill and Demi Lovato as well as comedy sketches featuring Jimmy Fallon, Jane Lynch and the casts of “Parks and Recreation” and Cuoco’s own “The Big Bang Theory.” Among the other major nominees are “Bridesmaids,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” “The Help,” “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” and “Potter” for Favorite Movie. Ryan Reynolds, Pattinson, Johnny Depp, Hugh Jackman, and Radcliffe will vie for Favorite Movie Actor, while Anne Hathaway, Emma Stone, Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts and Reese Witherspoon are squaring off for Favorite Movie Actress. In the music categories, the Favorite Male and Female Artist races are a who’s who of MTV favorites, including Eminem, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, Perry, Adele, new mom Beyonc
