Gucci Mane Sent Back To Jail For Six Months

Rapper’s lawyer tells MTV News they ‘expected’ case to come down after January car-shoving incident. By Rob Markman Gucci Mane Photo: Taylor Hill/Getty Images After only three months on the street, Gucci Mane is back behind bars. In April, Gucci was jailed on numerous unspecified probation violations, which stem from a 2005 aggravated assault case. That month, however, the Atlanta rapper was also arrested on charges he shoved a female passenger from a moving vehicle back in January. While Gucci served time on probation violations from the ’05 case, he had yet to be sentenced in the January incident until Tuesday (September 13). The rapper’s attorney Ashutosh Joshi, confirmed to MTV News that Gucci has been sentenced to six months in jail after pleading guilty to two counts of battery, two counts of reckless conduct and one count of disorderly conduct for pushing a woman out of his Hummer back on January 28. The “Wasted” MC is currently locked up in Georgia’s DeKalb County Jail, where his lawyer hopes he will be allowed to serve out his entire sentence. “It’s a case that we knew about, that we expected would come about at some point,” Joshi said. State Court Judge Eleanor Ross sentenced Gucci to six months and three years of probation, which is to take effect after his release. As a result of his plea, the Atlanta trap spitter was ordered to complete 12 weeks of anger management courses, pay $5,091 to cover the woman’s medical bills and a separate $3,000 fine. (The 1017 rapper’s current sentence also satisfies the criminal damage to government property charge he was handed after kicking a cop car last year.) On the morning of January 28, the victim, a 36-year-old Atlanta resident, was at the South DeKalb Mall, when she was approached by a male driving a white Hummer; he was eventually identified as Gucci Mane. According to the victim, Gucci asked if she wanted to get breakfast, to which she agreed before entering his vehicle. However, once inside the truck, Gucci allegedly offered the victim $150 to “go to the hotel.” When she refused and asked to be driven back to the mall, the rapper allegedly leaned over to open the passenger side door and shoved her out of the moving vehicle. According to the report, the victim “had redness on her left side/ back area.” And although she had never met Gucci before, the victim stated that she was familiar with his music and “recognized an ‘ice cream cone’ tattoo on the suspect’s face.” How will Gucci’s current sentence affect his career? Reese Witherspoon Not Pressing Charges Against Driver Who Hit Her

Actress is ‘not seriously injured and is resting comfortably at home,’ according to her rep. By Jocelyn Vena Reese Witherspoon Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images Following her run-in with a car earlier this week, Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon will not press charges against the elderly woman who hit her, according to Usmagazine.com . A source said Witherspoon has no plans to press charges against the 84-year-old who struck the actress with her car while she was jogging in Santa Monica. The driver failed to yield a pedestrian sign. “The incident is being treated as an accident,” the source adds. “The driver was not given an alcohol test at the accident scene and typically she would receive a fine and a point on her driving license as it is considered a moving violation.” A rep for the actress added that she was “not seriously injured and is resting comfortably at home.” In a previous report, Santa Monica Police spokesman Sgt. Richard Lewis said Witherspoon, “suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for medical treatment.” She was discharged a short time later and spent the night at home recovering from the incident. Lewis said the unidentified driver of the vehicle, who was driving 20 mph at the time, was interviewed at the location and released after getting a citation for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. The driver has been ordered by the DMV to retake her driver’s test. Police sources told TMZ that they have ordered the DMV to bring the driver in within the next 30 days for testing. Additionally, she must take an eye exam and provide a list of medications she’s on, if any. She’s already received a ticket in connection with the incident. Lil Wayne’s Carter IV Tops Billboard With Nearly A Million Sold

Hyped album moved 964,000 copies in its first week. By Gil Kaufman Lil Wayne Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images Lil Wayne was thisclose to making history as the first rap act to open with back-to-back million-selling albums. Thanks to record-setting iTunes sales of 300,000, plus the push provided by a post-VMA on-sale stunt, Weezy’s eagerly anticipated Tha Carter IV will debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart next week on sales of 964,000, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. That’s more than enough to win out over funky veterans the Red Hot Chili Peppers , who land at #2 with I’m With You thanks to sales of 229,000. That figure is less than half as much as the band’s previous release, the double album Stadium Arcadium, which moved 443,000 copies in its first week on the charts in 2006. Dance master David Guetta has a solid debut with his star-packed Nothing but the Beat, which lands at #5 (56,000), just barely edging out country singer Jake Owen ‘s Barefoot Blue Jean Night (55,000). A number of other artists got a VMA bump, including Adele, whose 21 is up 88 percent to 154,000 (putting her just shy of 3.3 million to date) and Beyonc

Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington Talks Earthquake Relief Show

‘It’s especially an honor to be able to give back to the Japanese community that’s been so devastated and been so great in supporting us,’ Bennington says. By Gil Kaufman, with reporting by Vanessa Whitewolf Chester Bennington of Linkin Park performs to raise money for Japanese tsunami relief in Los Angeles Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images Linkin Park got together with 1,100 of their biggest fans on Wednesday night to play a very special show. Normally used to rocking tens of thousands, the group squeezed into the very intimate Mayan Theater in Los Angeles for a benefit for Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief that was fueled by their followers’ energetic fundraising efforts. “It’s a really exciting night tonight. We’re performing a show with he B’z from Japan, [the] biggest rock band in Japanese history,” explained singer Chester Bennington before the gig. “It’s an honor to be able to play with these guys, and it’s especially an honor to be able to give back to the Japanese community that’s been so devastated and been so great in supporting us.” The show was populated by fans who met the group’s challenge to each raise $500 or more for Japanese tsunami relief in order to earn a pair of tickets. It was a continuation of LP’s Music for Relief charity, which was started in the wake of the 2005 Indian Ocean tsunami, which has subsequently raised funds for victims of other natural disasters, including the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. “We wanted to do something where we kind of engaged our fans to give money, because we’re always asking them to give money all the time because unfortunately, there are natural disasters affecting so many places all over the earth that we’re always asking our fans for money,” explained Bennington of the group’s ongoing fundraising efforts. “We wanted to do something that was exciting for our fans and gave them something to look forward to, a goal that was beyond anything they’d done before.” One initial idea had LP donating all the money from a show in Japan to relief efforts. But that felt like the obvious thing to do, so instead they came up with the notion of a secret show that would engage fans by having them “earn” the tickets. “We set a goal that we thought was pretty high, at $250,000, and amazingly our fans — from both Linkin Park and B’z — have generated over $350,000 in 60 days,” he said. “Which is unbelievable considering not only the devastation in Japan but also the economic struggles people are having here in the U.S. as well.” In fact, he said proudly, the top fundraiser brought in more than $13,000. Bromantic Shenanigans Get Dark in Exclusive Images from I Melt With You

I Melt With You , Mark Pellington ‘s dark — and I mean way dark — meditation on midlife crises and male bonding, proved to be decidedly difficult stuff for many critics Sundance Film Festival debut last January. Back then I wrote in favor of giving its existential punk romanticism a chance to make its case (especially if you’re a fan of folks like Jeremy Piven , who turns in a great face-melting performance). You’ll finally get your chance to weigh in on the IMWY debate this fall as the film makes its way to VOD and limited theatrical release; get in the spirit with three new stills that highlight the trajectory of Thomas Jane, Rob Lowe, Christian McKay, and Piven’s bromantic weekend of horrors.

Josh Hartnett, Gackt, and More Navigate the Hyper-Stylized Samurai Wild West in Fantasy Mash-Up Bunraku

A hyper-stylized, genre-mashing fantasy actioner involving cowboys, samurai, and an axe-wielding Ron Perlman with dreadlocks isn’t exactly what you might have imagined in a film with a title like Bunraku , named for an obscure, 300-year-old form of Japanese puppet theater rarely performed these days. But that’s the film director Guy Moshe made — starring Josh Hartnett , Demi Moore , Woody Harrelson ( Indecent Proposal reunion!), and Kevin McKidd as a dapper, Fred Astaire-like cold-blooded killer, no less — and you’ve got to give him credit for his ballsy vision.
