Hayley Williams Posts Demo Of New Song, ‘In The Mourning’

‘I don’t want people thinking it’s a new Paramore song. This is just something I wrote for fun,’ the singer says in a blog post. By James Montgomery Hayley Williams Photo: Tim Mosenfelder/Getty Images Last week, during Paramore’s “Last Word” interview with MTV News, Hayley Williams promised fans that the band would “definitely” be releasing new music in 2011 … and, it looks like she meant it. Well, sort of. On Tuesday, Williams took to her blog to post the chorus of a song called “In the Mourning,” a winsome, windswept thing that, while new — and actually pretty great — probably won’t be showing up on a Paramore album anytime soon. “A few weeks ago I posted some new lyrics up on Tumblr. Wanted to share the melody with anyone who’s asked me to post it,” Williams wrote on her blog. “This is just the chorus … I didn’t want to post the full thing yet because I don’t want people thinking it’s a new Paramore song. This is just something I wrote for fun. Hope you likes!” Williams did post the lyrics to “In the Mourning” a few weeks prior, and at the time, fans were speculating that they might be related to one of the new demos guitarist Taylor York had written for the group. Now, it doesn’t sound like that’s the case, although Williams and Paramore’s other remaining members — York and bassist Jeremy Davis — are apparently still writing and demoing new material . Late last month, just days after it was announced that founding Paramore members Josh and Zac Farro would be leaving the band, Zac posted a demo by his new project, Tunnel . In February, Paramore will launch a South American tour — their first since the Farro brothers’ departure — with York’s brother Justin filling in on guitar and veteran stickman Josh Freese on drums. Owen Wilson To Be A Dad

Actor and his girlfriend, Jade Duell, are ‘due any day,’ a rep tells Us Weekly. By Terri Schwartz Owen Wilson Photo: Jim Spellman/Getty Images Owen Wilson is the latest Hollywood celebrity to join the soon-to-be-parent club. A representative for the actor confirmed to Us Weekly that Wilson and his girlfriend of more than a year, Jade Duell, are expecting their first child. Duell, who is “due any day,” is currently in Hawaii where she plans to give birth as naturally as possible. This will be the first child for the 42-year-old “Little Fockers” star, and an insider told Us that Wilson is “very excited and involved with the pregnancy.” They added that he “has been doing research and learning as much as he can. He’s super into it and asks a lot of questions to make sure he knows what’s going on every step of the way.” This news comes just hours after Marion Cotillard and her boyfriend of three years, Guillaume Canet , announced they are also expecting their first child. On Sunday, David and Victoria Beckham revealed that they are expecting their fourth child, and Natalie Portman made headlines in late December when she announced that she was newly engaged and pregnant. After “Fockers,” Wilson’s next film to hit theaters is the screwball comedy “Hall Pass,” which co-stars Jason Sudeikis and is set to hit theaters February 25. He also reprises his voice-acting role as Lightning McQueen in “Cars 2,” out June 24, and is set to voice-act alongside his brother, Luke Wilson, in the animated comedy “Turkeys.” Share your well-wishes for the couple in the comments!

David And Victoria Beckham Expecting

Soccer superstar and fashion-designer wife to welcome fourth child this summer. By Mawuse Ziegbe David and Victoria Beckham Photo: Andrew H. Walker/Getty Images Superstars David and Victoria Beckham are expanding their brood. The soccer phenomenon and his fashionista wife have revealed that Victoria is pregnant. “David and Victoria Beckham are delighted to confirm they are expecting their fourth child in the summer,” their rep told People on Sunday (January 9). The rep added that the couple’s three children “Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz are very excited about the arrival of their new brother or sister.” Although the British duo are already parents to three growing sons, the former Spice Girl admitted in 2010 that she and Becks would be open to adding another little one to the mix. “I think one day, if we’re blessed to have more children, it would be amazing,” Victoria told People. “It’s a lot having three boys. So, we’re just enjoying the boys at the moment. But who knows, one day?” The pair got hitched in 1999 in the U.K. and it appears their high-profile marriage is still going strong over ten years later. Victoria, who has since followed up her time as a chart-topping member of the Spice Girls with an increasingly successful career as a fashion designer, gushed about her athlete hubby in the November 2010 issue of Marie Claire. “We were about to go out somewhere the other day, and he was sending an email. He was sitting at the end of the bed, and he had no clothes on whatsoever. I was getting out of the shower, and I just stood there looking at him. He was all tan. Has all those tattoos — which I love. Hadn’t done his hair. He just naturally looks good all the time. He never looks like sh– in the morning. Never,” she said. “So he’s sitting there sending his emails, all ripped. Not an ounce of fat on him.” Share your congratulations for the family in the comments!

Are Miley Cyrus And Nick Jonas Recording A Duet Album?

Cyrus producer Shakur Green reportedly tweets that the exes are working on a joint LP. By Jocelyn Vena Miley Cyrus and Nick Jonas Photo: Rob Hoffman/JBE/Getty Images In 2009, Nick Jonas and Miley Cyrus released the breakup ballad “Before the Storm.” The track, which was recorded after the two had split and right before they briefly reconciled, was featured on the Jonas Brothers album Lines, Vines and Trying Times. Now, it seems that the duo might be trying to make that magic happen again. Music producer Shakur Green, who worked with Cyrus on her Time of Our Lives EP, tweeted that he’s heading into the studio to work with the teen stars. “Returning to the studio w/ Miley Cyrus & Nick Jonas on 1/14,” he wrote in tweets posted on the AnythingDisney blog , which gained access to the producer’s protected Twitter account. “Can’t release any additional information about the project other then it’s going to be one of the top albums of 2011,” he added. “We’re only recording 7-10 records. She has other producers she working with besides myself!” Although he kept the details somewhat scarce, he did reveal one major piece to the puzzle: “I will share this info: It’s going to be a double disk duet album!” A rep for the stars hadn’t responded to MTV News’ request for comment by press time. Cyrus did join the boys onstage for one show in June 2009 to play “Before the Storm.” At the time, when MTV News caught up with Nick, he expressed how much he really loved the song. ” ‘Before the Storm’ is probably one of my favorite songs on the record,” Nick said. “I think it’s probably one of my favorite songs because it has a great story to it. It’s a duet with Miley, which is great.” What do you think about Miley and Nick possibly teaming up for a whole album? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Miley Cyrus Jonas Brothers

George Clooney, MTV Team Up To Help Monitor Sudan Vote

Project encourages young people to raise awareness of threats to human rights. By Gil Kaufman George Clooney Photo: Bryan Bedder/Getty Images Actor/activist George Clooney has been telling the world about the dire situation in the Sudan for years. And now, as the citizens of the northeast African nation line up for a crucial week-long vote that could determine whether the resource-rich Southern region will gain independence from the rest of the country, Clooney wants to make sure the world is keeping an eye on things. That’s why MTV and mtvU have teamed up with Clooney and the Satellite Sentinel Project , as well as Not on Our Watch, the Enough Project, Google, the United Nations UNITAR Operational Satellite Applications Programme (UNOSAT), the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative and Trellon, LLC to ask young people to help try to prevent an outbreak of civil war in the country by sending the message that “the world is watching.” “Satellite Sentinel Project welcomes MTV and its viewers — who have been standing up for years to end human rights crimes in Darfur and Southern Sudan — to our early warning system team,” said Clooney, the driving force behind the project. “Frankly, our team of policy wonks and super nerds could use an injection of MTV style.” Southern Sudan will begin the independence vote on Sunday (January 9), and experts have warned that the results could plunge the country back into civil war. Beginning on Friday (January 7), MTV and mtvU will promote the Satellite Sentinel Project across an array of on-air and online properties, encouraging young people to become peace monitors, inform their friends of the latest happenings in Sudan and be prepared to mobilize support should violence emerge. If you want to know more about how to get involved, check Sudan.mtvU.com for more calls to action. Clooney further explained the importance of the project on the Sentinel website, writing, “A new state is being born in Southern Sudan against a backdrop of decades of war between the South and North of Sudan. A peace deal in 2005 ended the latest round of open conflict, but the possibility of a return to war remains high as Southern Sudan prepares for independence. One of the biggest risks in this dangerous moment is that an incident on the highly armed border could lead to wider conflict. The government in Khartoum has armed militias in contested bordering regions, the government air force has bombed border areas, and both sides have massed military units and equipment along the hottest border spots. These areas have witnessed some of the most deadly conflict in the world since World War II. The former director of national intelligence says that Southern Sudan is the place in the world most likely to experience genocide. “We can’t allow another deadly war, and we surely cannot stand by in the face of a genocide threat. … With your support, we will swiftly call the world to witness and respond. We aim to provide an ever more effective early-warning system: better, faster visual evidence and on-the-ground reporting of human rights concerns to facilitate better, faster responses. This is why we have launched the Satellite Sentinel Project. There has never been a sustained effort to systematically monitor potential hot spots and threats to human security, in near real-time, with the aim of heading off humanitarian disaster and war crimes before they occur.” The last civil war, in 1983, lasted 20 years and claimed more than two million lives. The Sentinel project aims to create rapid response to any potential human rights concerns by combing satellite imagery analysis, field reports and crowd-sourced map data from Google Map Maker to prevent violence, and focuses world attention on Sudan. To become part of the open-source, early warning system for Sudan, young people can follow the Satellite Sentinel Project on Twitter @SudanSentinel. By doing this, they’ll get the latest updates and action alerts, and be ready to help put pressure on public officials to respond, if necessary. “We know the Millennial generation is fearless, and that they strongly believe in their power to affect change,” said Stephen Friedman, general manager of MTV. “We’re proud to act as a megaphone for the Satellite Sentinel Project’s efforts, amplifying their message to young people so they can join forces with the world to help maintain peace in Sudan during this potentially volatile moment in history.” For more information or ways to take action, please head to Sudan.mtvU.com or Satsentinel.org .

Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg Reteam For ‘That Good’

‘Snoop and Wiz, the new Cheech and Chong,’ Dogg raps on track from their upcoming movie. By Jayson Rodriguez Snoop Dogg Photo: Donna Ward/Getty Images Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa’s future together is looking pretty cloudy. And that’s a compliment. The two lanky lyricists are set to star in an untitled movie together and on Tuesday night, the pair released the first single from the forthcoming soundtrack, “That Good.” “Never treat you wrong, to each his own,” Snoop raps on the breezy number. “Snoop and Wiz, the new Cheech and Chong/ We up in smoke, making street schemes/ Smoking sticky green, having sweet dreams.” The two green-minded rappers first joined forces late last year, when Snoop guested on the remix to Wiz Khalifa’s breakout hit, “Black and Yellow.” “Black and yellow, ahh, black and yellow/ See me now they treating me like I’m somebody special,” Wiz spits over the Snoop-featured “G-mix.” “Smoking on that good, know it’s me soon as they smell it/ You can chill, I’m the one who get it, not the one who sell it/ I grind every day, I’m balling, I can’t help it/ N—as on that bullsh–, my pockets full of Celtics.” Since that time, the Snoop and Wiz have been spotted in the studio together collaborating on music in Los Angeles. Both artists have new albums due this year, Snoop’s Doggumentary and Wiz’s untitled debut. Their joint movie and soundtrack project remains untitled and no release date has been set as of press time. In the current issue of The Source, Wiz spoke about being compared to Snoop Dogg. “When people meet me and if they know Snoop … will say, ‘When they do a movie, they better put you as Snoop,’ ” Wiz told the magazine. “And I look up to Dogg, so that’s huge for me. He’s the OG, man. Anybody that compares me to him, that tight.” Related Photos MTV.com Exclusive: Wiz Khalifa Related Artists Snoop Dogg Wiz Khalifa

Flo Rida Cruises Into 2011 On ‘MTV New Year’s Bash’

Rapper rocks ‘Club Can’t Handle Me’ and more hits during Times Square special. By Mawuse Ziegbe Flo Rida (file) Photo: Andrew H. Walker/Getty Images Flo Rida kicked off 2011 with not just a bang, but three of his biggest club bangers. The Southern MC took revelers on a hit-packed ride for “MTV New Year’s Bash” on Friday (December 31), kicking off his performance with the David Guetta-assisted smash “Club Can’t Handle Me.” Audience members went nuts when DJ Kronik dropped the booty-quivering thump of the club mainstay, and Flo, decked out in a gray pullover with a red Louis Vuitton scarf draped around his neck, crimson Nike kicks, red shades and a hefty Poe Boy chain, led the crowd with his supercharged energy. Hands shot in the air at Flo’s command, heralding the beefy rapper as he headed down the platform. But he didn’t confine the party to the stage, hopping in the crowd to fist-pump alongside fans and even let a couple partyers wail the chorus into his mic. Flo also hit the stage to rock his latest single, “Who Dat Girl.” Despite the frosty NYC weather outside, the Miami spitter kept the heat going indoors, ditching the sweater in favor of a white tank that showed off his trademark guns. Flo then switched to his 2009 dance-floor filler “Right Round” and pulled an amped fan in a snug animal-print dress onstage to groove alongside him. Both rocked out on the platform in the center of the audience, and Flo capped off his lucky fan’s moment in the spotlight by letting her wear his massive chain. MTV News caught up with Flo after getting the party started in Times Square, and the hitmaker dished about the secrets to making a surefire club jam. “To make a club hit, it’s gotta be like ear candy. I think the production has to stand out from all the songs that are out [and] have a great melody,” said Flo, whose tracks like “Right Round” and “Low” have shattered records. “People catch on to a melodic sound faster than anything, not just here in the States, just around the world.” He also added that in addition to the beat, a party-starting record has to have what he dubbed “club lyricism”: lyrics so catchy that anybody at a Flo show could “sing every word and you just hold the microphone out.” With a time-tested formula for crafting smashes already in his hitmaking arsenal, and new 2011 projects from touring to pushing his own new artists, Flo said his New Year’s resolution is all about spreading the wealth. “[I plan] to continue to give,” he said. “I feel like the more you give, the more you receive. It’s just a great feeling to give and not to borrow.” What did you think of Flo Rida’s performance at the “MTV New Year’s Eve Bash?” Let us know in the comments.
