Candace Cameron Bure Opens Up About Her Struggle With Bulimia

Actress calls her post-‘Full House’ eating disorder ‘a very dangerous cycle.’ By Terri Schwartz Candace Cameron Bure Photo: David Livingston/Getty Images The troubled histories of Lindsay Lohan, Corey Haim and countless others have proven that the life of a child star is never easy, and “Full House” actress Candace Cameron Bure reveals in her new book, “Reshaping It All,” that she was no exception. The actress best known as DJ Tanner on the hit show shared for the first time that she struggled with bulimia in her youth. Cameron Bure was 11 when “Full House” hit the small screen in 1987 and went through puberty in front of a national audience. By the time the show ended its run in 1995, she was 19 and had gone through all of her life’s most awkward stages on television. After the show ended, she admitted to People magazine that she began binging and purging while adjusting to life in Canada with her new husband, NHL hockey player Valeri Bure. “It’s a very dangerous cycle that can just start to consume your life and really take over,” she said. “It wasn’t about me trying to lose weight. It was all about emotions.” During the fourth season of “Full House,” an episode focused on Cameron Bure’s character DJ dealt with the teenager going on a crash diet to try to look better for a friend’s pool party. DJ tried only eating water popsicles, going to the gym to exercise excessively and then eventually stopped eating altogether for three days and almost collapsed before her family intervened. Though DJ learned that anorexia was the wrong way to solve body-image issues, it seems as if the problem still lingered in Cameron Bure’s own psyche. Now at a healthy weight, 34-year-old Cameron Bure is the star of ABC Family’s “Make It or Break It.” She said she’s in the best shape of her life by healthy means and stays fit thanks to plenty of family exercise with her pro-athlete husband and their three children and a diet philosophy that allows everything, including her self-professed “weakness,” dessert, in moderation.

Pleasure P Declares ‘War’ On His Detractors Via Twitter

‘Half the world think im something that im not,’ former Pretty Ricky member tweets about child-molestation allegations. By Jayson Rodriguez Pleasure P Photo: David Livingston/Getty Images R&B singer Pleasure P spent the majority of the past 12 months lying low after allegations of sexual misconduct with a child . Don’t expect the new year to go the same way. The singer lashed out against his detractors via Twitter on Tuesday; presumably, the targets of his tirade were members of his former group, Pretty Ricky. “Mutha f—as talking bout let it go i aint letting sh– go half the world think im something that im not yall dont know what that feels like,” he wrote. “I had a year to prepare for war now war is about to begin if n—az thought it was over they got another thing coming hahahahahahaha.” The diatribe began when the singer tweeted that he heard what he characterized as “the worst song ever” and asked his followers to guess who recorded the number. Pretty Ricky recently released a new track, “Cookie Cutter,” that’s been embraced relatively slowly, considering their past work. Last December, an anonymous source alleged that Pleasure P molested a young child, which the singer responded by calling the charge against him “vile” and “disgusting.” A legal document that appeared online traced some involvement in the case back to members of Pretty Ricky’s camp. The group denied any involvement in a statement to MTV News at the time. Pleasure P has been pursuing the party he feels is responsible, though he would not confirm that person’s identity. After a tumultuous year, however, the Grammy-nominated Pleasure P appears to be ready to fight fire with hits. He sent his followers a new track, “She Likes,” featuring LaToya Luckett, that appears to be slated for his sophomore set, Pleasure Principles. “We dont do it for the streets we do it for the sheetz lol what it izzzzzzzz,” he wrote before posting the record. Why Did Natalie Portman, LeAnn Rimes, More Celebs Get Engaged?

Relationship expert Amy Laurent sizes up recent string of engagements, including Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Simpson and Lily Allen. By Kara Warner Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied Photo: Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images With the number of newly engaged and/or married celebrity couples recently announced, it is obvious that something is in the air. Within the last two months alone, there have been eight celeb engagements and one marriage. The engagements thus far: Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth, Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied , LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian , Ginnifer Goodwin and Joey Kern , Lily Allen and Sam Cooper , Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson , Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo and Tony Romo and Candice Crawford . And the marriage: Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky . So why the sudden flurry of committed coupling? According to relationship expert and professional matchmaker Amy Laurent, we can chalk it all up to the phenomenon known as “mistletoe syndrome.” “Around the holidays people get more in the mood, more romantic,” Laurent explained to MTV News of the term coined by her friend, artist Annika Connor. “Those are the times when people start re-evaluating their relationships. [It occurs] in November, December, January, and we see a lot of marriages, a lot of engagements,” she said. “And then there is withdrawal after the syndrome wears off, come Valentine’s Day, February, March.” Regarding the growing list of engagements, Laurent said she feels confident that all the couples in question have taken the plunge for the right reasons and not from the effects of mistletoe syndrome. “The thing I really like about Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo, they’ve been dating for about four years. They’ve stayed strong,” she said. “There was a brief breakup in 2009, but they got back together shortly thereafter, and it didn’t really last long. The signs are all there that they can last through the trials and tribulations. …They are going to survive the test of time. Nick has been married before. It’s not something he’s jumping into. She’s 30, he’s 37; it seems like a strong relationship.” For Simpson and Johnson, Laurent said she is definitely rooting for them. “She’s really come into her own,” Laurent said, citing Simpson’s prior relationships and periods of time in which she was single as the proper learning experiences she needed to be ready for the right one. “That’s why I think it’s all about timing. I think she learned from those experiences,” Laurent said. “Now I feel like she’s in the right place for it at the right time. Again, it’s all about timing. She’s definitely someone I’m rooting for.” Laurent also had a rosy prediction for Portman and Millepied. “I have so much respect for her. She is in such a good space right now with her personal life and her professional life,” she said. “If you look at her history, she’s been able to balance her life and succeed in Hollywood without getting wrapped up and becoming a Lindsay Lohan. She’s been able to successfully keep down to earth and stay somewhat private. She’s made good decisions all along, I don’t think this is going to be any different.” Finally, with regard to Rimes and Cibrian, Laurent said that the fact that the couple has survived the tabloid storm of scrutiny (they were criticized when they started dating after allegedly cheating on their former spouses) should bode well for them. “The fact that they’ve come this far to me says that there is a true relationship, a true bond,” Laurent said. “And there is something to be said about how they’ve overcome the trials that they’ve been through,” she added. “I think it’s something real, I think they have a good chance.” What do you think of all these newly engaged celebs? Rihanna And Matt Kemp Break Up

Source cites Rihanna’s busy schedule as a cause for the split. By Jocelyn Vena Rihanna and Matt Kemp Photo: Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images Rihanna and Matt Kemp kicked off 2010 as a couple, but it seems they are bidding the year farewell apart. According to Us Weekly, the singer and her baseball-player beau have split. “It happened over the last few weeks,” a source told the magazine. “She basically was just over it.” The insider added that the pop star has been “so busy” with work that “he just can’t keep up with her crazy travel schedule.” The duo started dating in January and couldn’t keep their relationship under wraps for long, but apparently Kemp got tired of dating a woman with a jet-setting lifestyle. “Matt’s sick of always following after her like a puppy dog all over the world. He wants something more normal,” the source explained. “It was never as serious as it looked. It was always just [about] having fun.” Shortly after they began dating, Kemp threw Rihanna a birthday party in February. In June, Rihanna opened up about the L.A. Dodger to Elle magazine: “I have a boyfriend. I’m so happy. I feel really comfortable, and it’s so easy. I have such a chaotic life, but at the end of the day, that is just my peace. It keeps me sane, really, talking to him and talking to my family.” In November, when she released her latest album, Loud, Rihanna said that her athlete boyfriend enjoyed hearing her softer side on the record. “He really likes, actually, the ballads on the album. Those are his favorite ones,” she said. “I always play him songs when I finish them. I’ll bring them back home and ask him what he thinks. At the end of the day, we still disagree on some things, but for the most part … he loves everything on the album. … ‘Who’s That Chick,’ he doesn’t really like that one. I guess it’s too lightweight pop for him.” Related Artists Rihanna

Teena Marie Remembered By Lenny Kravitz, Swizz Beatz, Q-Tip

Kravitz dubs Marie a ‘treasure’ as he recalls her generosity when he was starting out in music. By Mawuse Ziegbe Teena Marie in 2007 Photo: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images Teena Marie’s sudden death is hitting many of the late R&B veteran’s friends and family hard, including her onetime mentee-turned-rock star Lenny Kravitz. In a video posted on the rocker’s YouTube channel , Kravitz, looking sullen in a dark hoodie, reveals that he woke up in Paris to the news of Marie’s passing and opens up about her generosity and assistance when he was starting his career as a teen. “I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Teena. She took me in when I was around 16. I was just a musician on the street. I was living from pillar to post. She took me in, she gave me a bedroom, she fed me, she cooked for me, she took care of me. She gave me instruments to play, she took me to all her recording sessions. She took me to concerts, she nurtured me and helped me to become who I am,” Kravitz says. He added that although he hadn’t publicly discussed their relationship before now and lost touch in the years before her death, he’s still grateful for everything she did for him in those early years. “I’ve never really talked much about it in depth, but I would not be here. She changed my life, not only as an artist, but as a person who truly loved me for who I was. We’d been out of contact for the last few years, but I just want to say, Teena, that I will always love and respect you,” he says. “Thank you for being my friend. Thank you, Father, for the life of Teena Marie.” The “Again” singer also sent condolences to Marie’s loved ones and touted the late songstress’ many skills. “I just want to send all my love and respect out to the family and I just want to say Teena Marie was a treasure, was a genius,” he says. “Composer, arranger, singer, musician, unique, underrated by far.” Kravitz is one of many celebs who have paid tribute to the late star, who was found dead in her California home on Sunday. Daniel Craig And Rachel Weisz Step Out As A Couple

Pair met while filming ‘Dream House.’ By Terri Schwartz Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig (file) Photo: Donald Bowers/ Getty Natalie Portman , Ginnifer Goodwin and Hugh Hefner aren’t the only ones who had some romantic luck over the long Christmas weekend. Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz cozied up in southwestern England while taking a break from filming their upcoming movie, “Dream House.” British newspaper News of the World published photos of Craig and Weisz holding hands in the snowy countryside of Dorset and then walking into a pub together. A customer told the paper that “they were clinging to each other like honeymooners. The chemistry was obvious.” Another onlooker said they “looked like a romantic couple in a film. They were laughing and chatting and hanging on to each other’s words and stopping to take photos of each other.” The couple were also reported to have shared a cottage hideaway. Sparks easily could have started flying on the set of “Dream House,” which stars Craig and Weisz as a married couple. The supernatural thriller takes a turn for the worse when the couple moves with their two daughters to a quiet New England town, and they find out their new home was the site of a murder that claimed the life of a young mother and her two children. Naomi Watts also stars in the film as a neighbor with close ties to the deceased family. In November, Weisz split from “Black Swan” director, whom she was with for nine years. Craig also parted ways with his producer girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell earlier this year.

Lindsay Lohan Inspires New Comedy ‘Dogs In Pocketbooks’

Screenwriter Charles Casillo has hired heiress Lydia Hearst Shaw to star as a ‘bratty movie goddess … in trouble with the law.’ By Terri Schwartz Lindsay Lohan Photo: Stephen Shugerman/Getty Images Lindsay Lohan’s troubled life and recent scandals don’t necessarily seem particularly funny, but screenwriter Charles Casillo apparently is aiming to put a comedic spin on the actress’s trials in the new film “Dogs in Pocketbooks.” The New York Post reports that Casillo has chosen heiress Lydia Hearst Shaw, in her first Hollywood film role, to play the Lohan-esque character at the center of his movie. The writer told the Post that Shaw will portray a “bratty movie goddess in and out of rehab, in trouble with the law, and hounded by greedy agents, predatory paparazzi, off-the-wall stalkers and crazed media.” TMZ pointed out that the only Lohan-related aspect missing from this picture are “scheming, sponging parents whose lives derail their child,” although that might take away from some of the flick’s comedic value. The film is set to start shooting in New York and Los Angeles in February. Casillo emphasized to the Post that “Dogs in Pocketbooks” is “in no way mean-spirited toward Lindsay,” adding, “It’s the kind of thing she has spoofed about herself in the past. It’s more of a satire about the crazy people around her and the situations they generate. It satirizes the obsession with modern celebrity.” Though Shaw has not acted in a feature film before, she is well known for her modeling career — including campaigns for Bottega Veneta, Escada and Lord & Taylor — and dating Jeff Goldblum. She also is the daughter of famous 1970s kidnapping victim Patty Hearst. Casillo said he spent a lot of time trying to find the right woman to play the big-screen version of Lohan, and that Shaw is perfect for the part. “She’s one of the few supermodels who can actually act,” he insisted. “She’s smart, well-read, charming and very beautiful. We looked at a lot of actresses for this role, and I was really knocked out.” The fact that she knows what it’s like to be a pursued celebrity probably only helped as well, considering she is the heir to the William Randolph Hearst fortune. The film also has already cast “Dynasty” actress Joan Collins as the main character’s agent. The veteran star told the Post , “The script is a hoot — a satire on the crazed hysteria surrounding show-biz celebrities. I’m playing an aggressive, sexy, powerful woman. For a change.” This month, Lohan has been involved in a scandal where a woman who worked at the rehab facility at which the actress was staying accused her of assault, though charges have now been dropped. She also was recently replaced by Malin Akerman as the star of the Linda Lovelace biopic “Inferno” because Lohan was not going to be out of rehab in time to shoot the movie. By Terri Schwartz Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied Photo: Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images Natalie Portman has had one of the biggest years of her career in 2010, but it looks like 2011 is going to be even bigger. Portman is engaged to her boyfriend, choreographer Benjamin Millepied, and the two are expecting their first child, according to People. The two met during production of “Black Swan,” where Millepied acted as choreographer and Portman’s onscreen dance partner, and the two started dating in early 2010. This will be the first marriage and first child for Portman. When Millepied spoke to Details magazine in June about Portman, he said he was “blown away” by her acting abilities and that she was “amazing to watch.” But he did add that the two of them were trying to keep their relationship private. “It’s … everybody’s asking us,” he said. “We just want to keep things to ourselves.” In addition to her exciting personal news, 2011 is also looking bright professionally. Portman is nominated for her third Golden Globe for “Black Swan,” her first nomination for a leading role. Demi Lovato Spends Christmas With Family

Plus: Tour dancer says she came to an ‘agreement’ with Lovato after alleged altercation. By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images While rumors that Demi Lovato would be out of treatment by Thanksgiving were false, it seems the singer/actress was able to spend Christmas Day with her family. The “Sonny With a Chance” star was spotted with her family on Christmas getting food near her treatment facility in Woodridge, Illinois, according to Celebrity-Gossip.net . Wearing a leopard-print jacket, sunglasses and army boots, Lovato “seemed in good spirits,” according to a source. The site also reported that Lovato went back to the treatment facility later that evening. Lovato sightings have been rare since she entered the facility in early November. She left her tour with the Jonas Brothers after an alleged altercation with dancer Alex Welch. Earlier this month, photos taken prior to her treatment leaked online of Lovato partying with her friends , including Welch. Welch recently told People that she and the Disney actress came to a settlement in connection with the altercation. “I’m happy,” she said. “We came to an agreement and I’m ready to move on.” A rep for the Disney star had no comment regarding the settlement between the two. Earlier this month, Welch spoke about the disagreement , noting that she really wanted Demi to say sorry. “To this day, I haven’t gotten an apology. I’ve heard nothing,” Welch said. “That’s sad if you think that person is your friend. “I felt, honestly, I didn’t say anything and didn’t think twice about it,” Welch recalled. “We were on the plane with the Jonases having this awesome time, and I didn’t get a call or text from Demi or a ‘hey, you got a problem with me,’ nothing. And she walks up and punches me and, literally, walked away and got in her seat,” she continued. “No one should walk up and do that and brush it over, it’s not right.” Related Photos The Evolution Of: Demi Lovato Related Artists Demi Lovato
