Nicki Minaj Mocks Kim Kardashian Nude Photos, Explains Magazine Mishap

Nicki Minaj often shows off her giant boobs on the Internet. But that’s nothing compared to the Kim Kardashian nude spread in Paper Magazine that went viral just a couple weeks ago, an event the artist parodied during an appearance on Saturday Night Live last night. Stopping by The Weekend Update desk and impersonating Kardashian, Minaj explained that the photo shoot was “completely misinterpreted” by the public. Why? Because the pictures didn’t include their originally-intended backgrounds. Nicki Minaj Mocks Kim Kardashian on SNL See, one of the images was meant to be a “a public service announcement about getting regular checkups from your gynecologist,” as the screen then cut to one of Kim’s infamous naked pics… with a physician superimposed in front of the star. And what about the cover shot of the champagne shooting over Kim’s rear end? “Let’s see it with the right background,” Minaj said, as SNL then showed a chalkboard with complex mathematical equations on it. This fake Kardashian said the bell curve above her beloved butt was “part of a math competition for high school seniors,” adding, “Spoiler alert: X = full frontal.” Pretty funny stuff all around.  Peep the video above and then relive the Kim Kardashian naked pictorial via the following gallery: Kim Kardashian Paper Magazine Photos 1. Kim Zolciak Shows Off Tiny Waist, Shills for Dietary Shakes

Kim Zolciak is making like Kim Kardashian . Sort of. A few weeks after Kardashian posted a photo of herself waist training (via a ridiculous corset-type contraption, Zolciak also published a couple new pictures on Instagram. They also feature the reality star showing off her trim figure and we’re pretty sure Zolciak also got paid to do so. But not by any waist-training cincher thingy company. “Running out the door but heyyyyy thanks @310nutrition #aintnowaistcincherhere #nofilter,” Zolciak captioned one of the pictures, going on in depth about shakes from 310 Nutrition in her next caption: “I love it @310nutrition does it again.. 310 cleanse is magic! And believe me we all have junk in our gut. “I feel so much better, I stocked up for after thanksgiving dinner! www.310nutrition.com @briellebiermann was laughing at me and snapped this pic I had to post #310nutrition.” Sheesh, Kim. You could at least learn something from the other Kim, who doesn’t shill quite so shamelessly and openly online. Zolciak started sharing selfies with followers just days after giving birth to twins Kaia and Kane. She went off on an Instagram rant in September after critics accused her of Photoshopping her images. “ It’s me alllll F—KIN ME haters,” she wrote at the time. “Every last bit is ME!! For Discussion: Is Reality TV The Modern-Day Minstrel Show??

Is drink-throwing and weave-snatching the new “shucking & jiving?” We’ve told you before how great the racial satire film Dear White People is and urged you to check it out in theaters. Hopefully you’ve had a chance. Now the film’s director, Justin Simien has written a companion book for the movie, also aptly named “Dear White People,” and much like the movie, it’s full of provocative and hilarious essays and clever charts and graphs all sprinkled with a healthy dose of truth. Below, check out a chapter-exerpt from the book that takes on Reality TV and its relationship to blackface minstrel shows of the past. Via Vulture : Once upon a time, white America’s primary introduction to black people came in the form of the Minstrel Show. Stock characters, often played by white people, such as the Mammy, Zip Coon, and, of course, Jim Crow popularized through entertainment the idea that black people were lazy, ignorant, overly emotional, unsophisticated, and intellectually bereft. These ideas about black people are still being popularized today in entertainment thanks to white television executives (and, to be fair, some black ones too). Though the catchphrases have gone from “Who dat?” to “Who gon’ check me, boo?,” reality TV has kept the stereotypes tap-dancing along and made them more popular than ever! What’s particularly disturbing about this, implications of our collapsing educational system notwithstanding, is that stereotypes from the slack-jawed, no-good black male to the sexually promiscuous, foul-mouthed black woman are so ubiquitous, groups of people in the country assume that this is how all black people really behave. Now the confused, shuffling Mammies and flamboyant, vapid Zip Coons of yesteryear are actually real people, competing for Donald Trump’s affection and/or that of each other’s man. I use the term “real people” loosely. The truth is that people in reality shows are cast, crafted, and coached by a staff of executives and writers to attract the biggest audience possible. They are filmed and then re-filmed, with bits of dialogue added to attain maximum absurdity. They are then edited and beamed to millions, validating the worst stereotypes of black folks for people whose contact with actual black people is limited. And boy, are they fun! The worst part about this whole thing? I watch it. And so do my black friends! The Real Housewives of Atlanta! I was in the front row for Kandi’s wedding! I watched every spin-off they made for Flavor of Love’s “New York,” Tiffany Pollard. I Love New York? Me too! New York Goes to Work — sign me up for overtime! I am part of the problem. This chapter is my penance! Of course I feel bad about it, but deep down I know it’s all fake. Like professional wrestling. There are a lot of people out there, though, who don’t know it’s not real. Somehow bad improv and staged fighting shot with minimal production value got called “reality” before becoming an American phenomenon. Of course, Jersey Italians, Shahs from Sunset, and back-alley hillbillies have it bad in reality media as well, but they’re only a slice of the images we see of not-so-dark people… One of the fun things, I assume, about being white is that there are so many varying examples of behavior attributed to white people in the media. It must be a bit easier to walk through life without dodging as many presumptions. Sure, there are white people who appear in their share of trashy television, but that accounts for just a percentage of the overall, mostly positive, images of white folks in the media. For black folks the variety of images adds up to a pretty short stack. Partly because television executives are checking Facebook super busy and are afraid of losing their jobs under a lot of pressure. While there may be a desire to expand the representation of the African diaspora, deep in the heart of this hypothetical TV exec, it’s a lot easier just to go with another show about a semi-famous rapper who has a bevy of loud and crazy girlfriends. Or a house filled with alcoholics, the alcohol that’s slowly killing them, and a couple of black women who are either “not there to make friends” or who will “cut a bitch.” Hmmm….what do you think? Are we okay with the blatant stereotypes and negative perception of Black life perpetuated in reality TV simply because it’s not a bunch of white actors in blackface? Or is entertainment just entertainment and we shouldn’t worry too much about the “handful of people” who believe everything they see on television?

On The Rocks? Ellen And Portia Allegedly Cancel Animal-Saving Charity Appearance After “Epic” Fight In The Car

Carpet-munchin’ martrimony-dom ain’t easy … Ellen Degeneres And Wife Portia Rumored To Have Had Major Fight Prior To Charity Event Via NYPost Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi didn’t show up at a charity fund-raiser for rescued animals after having a huge fight in the car on the way to Sunday’s event, sources tell Page Six. The power couple was on the way to the Saving SPOT! fund-raiser at Tiato in Santa Monica when they got into an argument and turned around without attending the event, even though they were listed and pictured on the invitation as hosts. Ellen and Portia on Monday insisted to Page Six they had informed the charity they would be unable to make it and their picture should not have been on the invitation. A source told us: “Ellen and Portia were supposed to be at the event at 5 p.m., but at 6:30 p.m., the media was still waiting for their arrival. Reporters were told they were on their way, until the head of the charity informed everyone at the end of the event that they weren’t going to make it due to ‘logistics.’” The source added, “Ellen and Portia were delayed and were in the car on the way, when they had an epic fight. They ended up turning around and not going to the fund-raiser.” Saving SPOT! is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing dogs and providing them with caring owners. Ellen and Portia attended last year’s benefit in Beverly Hills and had been happy to be listed as hosts for this year’s event, we’re told. Ellen — a generous animal-welfare supporter — and Portia said in a statement to Page Six: “We were happy to lend our names as honorary chairs and the organization was always aware that we would be unable to attend. This is the first time we have seen our images attached to the invite. It was not approved and it is misleading.” DeGeneres’ attorney Marty Singer said, “The story is a complete lie. My client told the organizer they never agreed nor planned to attend the event. There was no fight that caused them not to attend.” The charity didn’t respond to requests for comment. Ellen recently slammed divorce rumors and reports of arguments on the season premiere of her talk show. “I had a great summer,” she said in September. “I went on a trip with Portia, my beautiful wife — who I am happily married to, but thank you for your heartfelt concern, tabloids.” Ellen better get right before Portia gets ready to sign them papers. Greek Gang: Ferguson Police Captain Ron Johnson’s Fraternity Hand Sign Mistaken As “Gang Sign” By The Washington Post

Because anything a Black man does with his hands MUST mean he’s a criminal. SMH. Capt. Ron Johnson’s Kappa Gesture Mistaken As Gang Sign By Media We’re sure the idea of a group of Black men congregating with any common purpose is a terrifying idea for a lot of Americans, however there is a distinct difference between violent street gangs and Black Greek-letter organizations . Somehow, mainstream media immediately assumed the Black chief of police must be a member of the former when he made gestures with his hands that they simply didn’t recognize. Via Salon : Since taking the reins of the security detail in Ferguson, Missouri, following the killing of a young, black resident, Michael Brown, by a white police officer, Darren Wilson, veteran Missouri Highway Patrol Capt. Ron Johnson has made his presence felt. He has marched with protesters, fielded tough questions from the national media and community, and delivered eloquent speeches. What he has not done is throw up gang signs. Reported this morning (and poignantly debunked as false) in the Washington Post, Capt. Johnson was accused of flashing gang signs when posing for photos. In the images, which are still circulating on Twitter, the captain poses with a few residents and protest attendees and arranges his fingers in a very deliberate, calculated manner: three fingers up, his index and thumb pinched together. However, as the Washington Post’s Soraya Nadia McDonald points out, such a hand sign actually represents his college fraternity, of which Mr. Johnson is a member: Capt. Johnson is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, a black fraternity that was formed in 1911 at Indiana University in Bloomington, and the hand sign you see in the pictures below is a Kappa greeting. The Kappas are part of the Divine Nine or the National Pan-Hellenic Council, the nine historically black fraternities and sororities that include Delta Sigma Theta, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Alpha Phi Alpha, Omega Psi Phi, Phi Beta Sigma, Zeta Phi Beta, Sigma Gamma Rho and Iota Phi Theta, none of which are gangs. A CNN iReport post apparently helped spread this erroneous rumor, though, as the Post points out, CNN’s post seems to have been taken down. So most of these media outlets want more information before “snapping to a judgement” on what happened surrounding the brutal killing of an unarmed teen…but have no issue with automatically assuming and nationally reporting that the Black police chief is a proud gang member without any verification. Got it.

Funny Or Too Far? Ohio Woman Starts Social Media Frenzy After Sharing Pics Of Baby Granddaughter In A Roast Pan

Cute prank or child abuse? Woman Investigated By Child Protective Services For Viral Photos An Ohio woman thought she’s take some “funny” pics of her baby granddaughter getting ready to be roast for dinner last week. Apparently her Facebook timeline didn’t quite catch the joke. Via MailOnline : An Ohio woman thought she was being funny when she photographed her baby granddaughter with duct tape on her face and lying in a roasting pan – but Facebook users who saw the images disagreed. The grandmother, Jackie Sheaks, of Columbus, Ohio, set off a firestorm online that drew the attention of the local sheriff’s office when she shared the prank photos of her granddaughter. In one of the image, the child’s pacifier had been secured to her cheeks with two pieces of duct tape. In another, the infant is resting inside a large turkey roasting pan next to some potatoes. Mrs Sheaks explained this week that she uploaded the snapshots online hoping to amuse her Facebook friends ‘It started as just a joke,’ she told 10TV. ‘We put a little tape on the pacifier because we were being silly.’ But instead of compliments on her sense of humor and photography skills Mrs Sheaks got a visit from the sheriff and Child Protective Services, who expressed concern for the well-being of the little girl in the pictures. Speaking to local media outlets with her granddaughter in her lap, Jackie Sheaks insisted that she an her husband are not horrible people and would never harm their little girl. Tommy Sheaks said their family have been subjected to harassment online since their unusual baby photos went viral. Mrs Sheaks added that although she has been photographing her relatives’ children for many years, she learned her lesson about sharing her prank snapshots online. ‘What we think is funny other people don’t (and) it will never happen again. It’s definitely taught us a lesson,’ she said. The little’s girl’s mother, who is not being named, said that she did not find the photos taken by Jackie Sheaks objectionable. What do you think? The baby appears to be chilling in both photos…whether it made you laugh or not, is it really that serious?

GTFOHWTBS: Michigan Man Who Shot Black Teen Dead On His Porch Says He “Feared For His Life”

Would you be afraid enough to shoot without looking to see who it was first if someone was pounding on your door at 4 am? Michigan Man Claims He Shot Black Teen On His Porch Because He Feared For His Life The trial is underway for Theodore Wafer, a white suburban homeowner who shot 19-year-old McBride in the face as she sought help on his porch and he’s hoping the jury will sympathize with his fearfulness. Via Al-Jazeera America reports: Defense attorney Cheryl Carpenter on Wednesday appealed to a Detroit jury to “understand how Ted felt” before he shot an unarmed black teen on his porch last fall. “He was acting and reacting to escalating fear,” Carpenter said in her opening statement about Theodore Wafer, 55, on trial for second-degree murder and manslaughter in the death of Renisha McBride. “He had never been so scared in his entire life. It’s horrible and it’s sad that a 19-year-old woman is dead. But Ted is justified in what he did.” Whether it was reasonable for Wafer to think his house was under attack is the key question the jury must weigh as this galvanizing, racially charged trial proceeds in Detroit. Wafer is white and lives in the mostly white Detroit border city of Dearborn Heights. He killed McBride in the early hours of Nov. 2, when, he says, she was banging on his door. To the prosecution, this is a straightforward case of a trigger-happy homeowner who opened the front door and shot McBride rather than, if he was truly afraid, calling 911. He called 911 after the shooting occurred. “There was no sign of any attempted burglary, there’s no evidence of any effort to breaking in,” said prosecutor Danielle Hagaman-Clark in her opening remarks. “His actions that night are unnecessary, unjustified and unreasonable. Because of that, a 19-year-old girl is dead on a porch in Dearborn Heights. Would you have called 911 first? The defense attorney is already doing a “bang up” job describing Wafer’s state of mind before he pulled the trigger: Carpenter said Wafer was fast asleep in a recliner in his living room when, at around 4:20 a.m., someone banged on his door. Fearful, he lay on the floor and groped for his cellphone but could not find it. Over the subsequent minutes he panicked, believing his home was under siege by possibly more than one attacker and asserting he heard metal in the front door frame “breaking.” “They’re coming to get me,” Carpenter said, narrating Wafer’s thoughts in the moment. “It’s metal breaking. Breaking! On his front door. Ted hears it. Ted is thinking they’re coming in. They’re breaking [into] my house. Why? He doesn’t have a clue. He just knows they’re coming in.” Carpenter sought to defuse the racial elements of the case by insisting that Wafer didn’t know the color or gender of the person when he shot her. All he knew, she said, was that he opened his front door, noticed the screen frame a few inches out of its hinge and then fired the gun when McBride leaped onto the stoop, startling him. “Ted is shattered,” Carpenter said. “He knows immediately that he killed somebody … It was only after that he saw it was a shorter person. She seemed dark-complected but he isn’t sure. He didn’t know anything before he shot. All he knew was, ‘People are breaking into my house.’” Do you believe that he didn’t know she was black? In the meantime there is a lot working against the prosecution’s case, namely the fact that an autopsy has established McBride’s blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit and witnesses have confirmed she was drinking and smoking marijuana earlier that night. After opening statements, prosecutors called McBride’s mother and best friend. Between the two of them, they established that McBride had drunk vodka and smoked marijuana in the evening of Nov. 1 at home. Her mother said she and McBride argued because the teen hadn’t cleaned the house, and McBride left the house by car at around 11:15 p.m. Around 1 a.m., she crashed her car into that of Carmen Beasley, who lives about a mile from Wafer on the Detroit side of the city limits. Beasley said she tried to get McBride to stay put as they waited for the police and an ambulance, but McBride vanished. “She just wanted to go home,” Beasley testified. “She wasn’t belligerent. She was young and she just wanted to be at home. That was her goal, to be home.” This case is so sad. We really feel for McBride and her family and the prosecution is building a strong case that Wafer’s greatest error was going to the door with a locked and loaded shotgun, a weapon likely to do serious damage at such close range. But if a stranger knocked on your door at 4 am can you say you wouldn’t do the same? It’s not like he could see in the dark that she was bleeding from the head and needed help. Do you think it’s an open and shut case of him being guilty of second degree murder and manslaughter? AP Images
