Facebook To Google: Don’t Be Evil, Focus On The User

On Being Psychic or Intuitive

By Jay Levin Here is a premise to ponder: That you were born psychic and intuitive – meaning you had extra-sensory radar that could move beyond time and space and report back with information you had not heard nor seen, tasted, smelled or touched. Every now and then you get glimmers of that psychic ability which you likely define as “intuition.” There is something you just “know” or feel. Many if not most times we dismiss this and can be heard later saying , “Oh, if I had only followed my intuition about this situation (or person).” Based on our premise, that you were born psychic – meaning with access to knowledge and information that did not come through your five senses – then those moments of intuition or psychic knowingness are not remarkable in their own right.  They only stand out against a general daily life in which you normally are not in touch with this side of yourself and instead you are running on – and thinking with – other information and systems. In fact, we know from a pretty voluminous amount of research into psychic phenomenon by researchers associated with many leading universities and institutions, that psychic phenomena is NOT so unusual. Some people have an extraordinary amount of it. Others have inklings.  Continuing with our premise, if you were born psychic what are the implications of this? That you must have some sort of yet unexplained receptors that allows you to read or detect subtle information fields. That those subtle information fields exist somewhere. That this must be an innate ability varying with different people.  That this ability must be somewhat quashed or encouraged by the experiences in childhood, including the way you are nurtured and programmed by family, friends and community, because so many of us don’t retain much of it. That this ability is not something you created. That if it is innate and lying dormant in you, there may be ways to reclaim that ability by clearing away the programmed, reactive and emotional blocks to accessing it. That the blocks to it can be cleared given that some people become more intuitive and psychic as they age or train themselves differently. Enter now certain types of life coaches. Our job is to teach you to get the emotional and psychological blocks out of the way so that this deeper inner knowing element of yourself can come forward – and it is deeper and wiser than the word “psychic” implies.  Some of us like myself also teach methods of more readily accessing your deeper knowingness, intuition and psychic reality. In fact, I have taken groups of people each of whom has proclaimed to have no psychic abilities whatever, and shown them with one simple exercise how much they actually know about a stranger in the room with them. Why remove the blocks and regain this aptitude? Because the “thinking” and chattering parts of your mind make so many mistakes. Also because by your believing this mind activity is you and by then giving it so much authority over your decisions, you block a remarkably different (and more success-inducing) way of knowing, understanding and moving through life. And if you want to know more about what I mean by that or how you got to be who you are now, check my Free Download lecture and earlier blogs. **** J ay Levin, the founder and former Editor-in Chief of the LA Weekly newspaper, has been a highly successful life and relationship coach and trainer for 12 years.  He recently made the core of his work available as classes in Life Rehab and Mastery and in Relationships. DOJ’s Chris Christie Accuser Has History of Left-wing Activism; Will Media Report?

Which is bigger news for the mainstream media: accusations of impropriety against a Republican rising star, or politically-motivated accusations of impropriety against a Republican rising star? We're about to find out. Plenty of reporters were certainly eager to inform their readers and viewers about allegations against New Jersey Governor Chris Christie that claimed he had spent about $2,000 more than was allocated on travel expenses during his time as a U.S. attorney. But it turns out that the author of the Justice Department report that made those allegations is an uber-partisan who has previously used her position in the Inspector General's office to advance a leftist agenda. Will the media report these facts, and their implications for the report on Christie's alleged improprieties? read more

Will 3D Printing Spark A Green Manufacturing Revolution?

Star Wars Blog It will be a while before there is a 3D printer in every home (although you can build your own Makerbot now and print out your own low-res Darth Vader ) but the implications of the technology is being discussed everywhere right now. Mel Gibson: Trying to Dodge Court Deposition?

Is Mel Gibson trying to avoid sitting down for a deposition as part of the domestic violence investigation launched against him? All depends on who you ask. Sources connected with Oksana Grigorieva , who accuses the actor of beating her, say that Gibson is going to great lengths to avoid sitting for his deposition. Oksana’s camp believes Mel does not want his deposition taken before the L.A. County District Attorney makes a decision on whether to prosecute the actor. The D.A.’s office will make its decision on whether the police’s domestic violence investigation warrants charges against him within the next couple of weeks. Mel will almost certainly choose to assert his Fifth Amendment privilege on most, if not all, of the events surrounding the January 6 fight, TMZ speculates. As for the implications of that on the family case – Mel and Oksana are also fighting for custody of eight-month-old daughter Lucia – that remains to be seen. Regardless, the deposition was scheduled more than two weeks ago, only Oksana was far from pleased to learn Mel was out of the country on a fishing trip. Other sources dispute that Mel is intentionally avoiding his deposition, saying he will be back this weekend and the deposition should take place shortly. The Mel Gibson rants Oksana recorded and leaked certainly prove how badly he needs help, but as far as whether he abused her? That’s much murkier. He’s apparently had a P.I. grilling witnesses , or alleged witnesses, to the attack(s). Are any of them credible? That will be up to the D.A. to determine.

Splice-not your average sci fi horror movie

I saw Splice today and was surprised that it is not your average B horror sci-fi blood and gore movie. Two young biotech scientists /lovers named Elsa and Clive are successful in splicing animal DNA to create hybrids. So successful that they think the pharmaceutical company they work for will support their splicing of human DNA with animal DNA, but are surprised when turned down and shut down. They then go out on their own (morseo Elsa than Clive, who questions the morality of it) against all legal and moral boundaries in successfully splicing their DNA with animal DNA and creating what they at first believe (Elsa much more than Clive who in the beginning wants to kill it) will be the key to all they have dreamed of. Then the dream turns into a nightmare and the evolution of “Dren” turns violent and bloody once leashed on the outside world, taking a turn that shows what happens when you cross the line with no regard for the consequences. And apart from this, the interplay with the characters and the relationship with their creation as well as how it evolves upon learning and growing ( and not for the better) is also worth noting in this movie as a question about the influence of not only DNA but environment. It gives you something to think about, especially regarding where science is today and the moral implications of where it is going. As someone who reads about this, is concerned about it, and reports on it regarding GMOS, this movie did not lose credibility because the science in it is actually reality. They have already created “synthetic” life in a test tube, cloned, and have been serving up genetically engineered seeds that have proven that once unleashed their effects cannot be called back. The warning here is clear; Carelessly playing god with nature will always come back to bite you on the a88. I give it seven out of ten stars and recommend it if you are into sci-fi, and won't be too freaked out by the unorthodox sex scenes ( will not give that away.) Splice is not your average horror blood and gore movie and the acting in it is bellievable. It will not only quench your thirst for sci-fi it will have you questioning the limitations of science on the natural world and the implications of crossing the line. added by: JanforGore

Top Five Federal Agencies Awarding Contracts To BP

BP has over 9 Billion US dollars in defense supply contracts. Just think about the implications of the Government taking over BP like they did GM (which would never happen anyway because BP is a Crown company, but as a thought experiment). Data and graphics are from USASpending.gov . Has the Pentagon had any say in how the Gulf of BP incident has been managed? Inquir… Read the full story on TreeHugger

Green exercise healthier than techno-sweat

Where you exercise turns out to have measurable effects on physical and mental health. Exercising in a healthy, green environment significantly lowers blood pressure, increases self-esteem and has a positive significant effect on 4 of 6 mood measures, according to new research published in the International Journal of Environmental Health Research . Subjects who watched pleasant rural images while running on a treadmill experienced greater health boosts than runners who saw negative urban images. Treadmill runners were shown one of four different types of scenes—”rural pleasant,” “rural unpleasant,” “urban pleasant” or “urban unpleasant”—before being screened for blood pressure and mood factors. Researchers noted the environment’s clear effect on subjects’ health: Exercise alone significantly reduced blood pressure, increased self-esteem, and had a positive significant effect on 4 of 6 mood measures. Both rural and urban pleasant scenes produced a significantly greater positive effect on self-esteem than the exercise-only control. This shows the synergistic effect of green exercise in both rural and urban environments. By contrast, both rural and urban unpleasant scenes reduced the positive effects of exercise on self-esteem. The rural unpleasant scenes had the most dramatic effect, depressing the beneficial effects of exercise on three different measures of mood. It appears that threats to the countryside depicted in rural unpleasant scenes have a greater negative effect on mood than already urban unpleasant scenes. Looking ahead, the researchers pointed out the implications of green exercise on society as a whole, noting the importance of such projects as healthy walking projects; exercise by prescription; healthy school environments; healthy travel to school projects; green views in hospitals, city farms and community gardens; urban green space; and outdoor leisure activities in the countryside. Our prescription for a great weekend? A long walk, taken with a heaping spoonful of “rural pleasant.” To your health! (Photo credit: a2td, SXC )

Oprah Winfrey: Defamation Lawsuit Settled

On Tuesday in Philadelphia, the defamation lawsuit has been settled against the talk-show superstar Oprah Winfrey by Nomvuyo Mzamane, the former headmistress of Winfrey’s Africa-based Leadership Academy of Girls In Mzamane’s lawsuit, she claimed that Oprah defamed her in the statements she made during the 2007sex-abuse scandal at the academy. This case resulted in Mzamane not being able to find another job due to the damaged it had caused her reputation. Late Tuesday, a joint statement was released by the lawyers of both parties that Winfrey and Mzamane met to resolve the conflict between them. They met woman to woman without their attorneys. They were both happy that they can amicably resolve this dispute. The talk-show superstar then testified in a deposition that she didn’t mean the implications placed on her statements.
