AOL’s New Branding

AOL is now Aol. (with a period), which totally isn't annoying to have to write. The old AOL running man is conspicuously absent from the new artwork (from branding consultants Wolff Olins), which will be rolled out across the network on December 10.

Chris Anderson has plenty of distractions from editing Wired , including a lucrative sideline on the global lecture circuit and a tour to promote his new book. Anderson’s prior commitments even removed him from the office on Wired ‘s layoff day.

The stats are in: no global cooling

The idea that the world is now cooling has been repeated in opinion columns, talk radio, pundit television and more. After a poll was released last week indicating that only 57 percent of Americans now believe there is strong scientific evidence for global warming, which is down from 77 percent in 2006, Seth Borenstein from the Associated Press decided to check out what the statistics are really saying about global warming or cooling.

KABUL – Afghanistan's election commission Tuesday ordered a Nov. 7 runoff in the disputed presidential poll after a fraud investigation dropped incumbent Hamid Karzai's votes below 50 percent of the total
