Documentary chronicling singer’s personal struggles airs at 10 p.m. ET/PT Tuesday, March 6, on MTV. By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato in the “Stay Strong” trailer Photo: MTV News & Docs Demi Lovato pledges to “Stay Strong” in her MTV documentary, the aptly titled Demi Lovato: Stay Strong,” which will debut on Tuesday, March 6, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. When the trailer dropped last week, fans immediately began to watch it on repeat. It lends insight and gives sneak peeks into what Lovatics will get to see and hear from the star when the full show airs next week. The deeply personal special follows the singer/actress as she struggles to confront her personal demons, while also focusing on her music career. “I wanted to do this documentary because I told a lot of my story but no one has taken cameras inside of my life and gotten to see what it’s like first-hand a day in the life of me,” she told MTV News on Thursday (March 1). “I thought it would be a cool opportunity for my fans to see what it’s like.” Before the show airs, MTV News is taking a look at several of the must-see moments from the trailer. Her Fans Demi opens up about the support she received from her fans during her personal struggles, noting that they helped her though her darkest days and still do. Her fans also talk about how appreciative they are of her openness and honesty. She even visits the Illinois treatment facility where she spent several months. She later says, “I’m not fixed; this is a daily battle. But I continue to work my butt off because now I want to be a legitimate role model.” Battling Her Eating Disorders The singer/actress makes her way home for her first Thanksgiving since treatment. Having dealt with eating disorders, she goes to a family gathering for a holiday that’s focused on eating. “I never thought that I’d be a role model,” she says about her public image. “When I first started in the industry, everyone just kind of made me a role model, and I hated that. I had so many issues underneath that needed to be taken care of. … It literally ended up driving me insane.” Getting Back to Touring She cut her tour with the Jonas Brothers short in 2010 when she went into treatment, and in fall 2011 she embarked on her first tour since leaving treatment. About the trek, she notes, “This time on tour I feel like I am definitely not taking anything for granted.” The special is named after two tattoos on her wrists that read, “Stay Strong.” The ink pays homage to her devoted fans, who stood by her side through her recent personal struggles through her return in 2011, when she released her album Unbroken. “It’s something that my fans were actually drawing on their wrists while I was still in treatment,” she explained about the significance of her tattoos. “Some people even got tattoos of it, so I wanted to show you guys that I will never forget the support that you guys gave me.” Don’t miss “Demi Lovato: Stay Strong,” debuting Tuesday, March 6, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. MTV News speaks with Robert Kirkman about what fans of the undead can expect from Oakland, California, convention. By Josh Wigler Jon Bernthal as Shane Walsh in “The Walking Dead” Photo: AMC If the worst should happen and a zombie apocalypse occurs this weekend, there’s no safer place in America to be than Northern California: “Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman will be in Oakland as part of the inaugural Image Expo , greatly increasing your survival odds if a pack of flesh-hungry walkers swarms the scene. “The Image Expo is an Image-centric comic book convention, so all of the guests have something to do with Image Comics,” Kirkman told MTV News during a recent phone interview. “All of the Image founders will be there, as well as new creators who are doing comics with Image this year: Ed Brubaker, Brian K. Vaughan, we have Jonathan Hickman coming here … all kinds of cool guests.” Running from February 24-26, the first-ever Image Expo makes its debut during the 20th anniversary of Image Comics. Kirkman, a longtime Image reader and current partner at the company, considers the anniversary a milestone achievement for a publisher that originally launched with a very uncertain future. “There were a lot of naysayers back in 1992 when the company was formed, saying they’d be gone within six months,” Kirkman said. “For Image to still be around, still generating new ideas and content and bringing in new creators into the industry, taking a lot of chances on people who’ve never been published before, that’s one of the things that Image does the best. It’s really cool that this vision of a company created by creators for creators, that offers the greatest creator-owned deal in the industry and gives everyone the kind of freedom every creator wants to have, is still standing.” Indeed, Image has plenty of new creators to brag about going into 2012. Kirkman identified “Captain America” writer Ed Brubaker’s new thriller “Fatale” as one of the books he’s most excited for this year. “Y: The Last Man” scribe Brian K. Vaughan’s upcoming sci-fi epic “Saga” is another of Kirkman’s must-read books in 2012. But Kirkman is equally excited about the arrival of some new creative voices at Image this year, including the company’s onetime PR and marketing coordinator Joe Keatinge, who launches a new series titled “Hell Yeah” in early March. “There are a lot of things he’s involved in that I’m very excited about, but the fact that he’s launching a creator-owned book, ‘Hell Yeah,’ is really great,” Kirkman said about Keatinge’s upcoming projects. “Image is the place that brings in new talent and shepherds them into the comics industry, and I see big things from this Keatinge kid.” Of course, Kirkman has plenty of his own books he’s bringing to the table as well. During Image Expo, Kirkman will champion some of his fan-favorite titles including “Walking Dead” and “Invincible,” as well as his new comic “Thief of Thieves” that debuted from his Skybound imprint earlier this year. “It’s about a guy named Conrad Paulson who lives a double life as an international thief named Redmond, who is rumored to be the greatest thief who ever lived,” Kirkman said of the book’s premise. “But he has a problem: he chose his thief life over his personal life, and he has an estranged ex-wife and a son he’s never talked to. He has a ton of regrets. The book is about him trying to get his life in order and turned around, turning his back on his career as a thief… but finding that he is completely and utterly unable to do that. He’s completely addicted to the thrill of stealing objects. He tries to work around that by working out a way to steal for the greater good.” Taking a page from his “Walking Dead” television experience, Kirkman is implementing a writer’s-room approach to “Thief of Thieves.” Rather than writing the book all on his own, he’s working alongside an unknown number of other writers — including “Morning Glories” scribe Nick Spencer — to add even more voices to his latest creative endeavor. “It’s been a lot of fun working on ‘The Walking Dead’ in the writer’s room. I’ve grown to respect that method of crafting stories, so I figured I’d give it a shot on a comic book,” Kirkman said. “It’s cool to sit down with other writers — currently unnamed, but we’ll be making announcements soon — and plotting out the story in the same way we’d be doing it on a television show. Having those different brains in the mix, people with different backgrounds generating different ideas and adding to the stew of the story we’re putting together is very cool. When you sit down and read the first 25 issues of ‘Thief of Thieves,’ you’re going to see all these different ideas at work. It’ll be cool to see how it all comes together.” Kirkman fans traveling to Image Expo to take a bite out of the writer’s biggest hit to date, “Walking Dead,” won’t walk away disappointed either. The convention will host variant editions of “Walking Dead” #94, as well as a select number of limited-edition “Walking Dead” watches . And, of course, there’s that little AMC series to consider as well. “We’ve got a panel called ‘Walking Dead’ Live where [‘Talking Dead’ host] Chris Hardwick will be interviewing myself and [actors Norman Reedus and Steven Yeun] together on a panel,” Kirkman said. “We’ll get to do that live before a panel audience, which should be pretty exciting. We’ll also have autographs, signings, all that cool stuff. We might even play ping pong with people. I cannot confirm that, but we’ll see. We’re going to be having all kinds of fun!” Are you heading to Image Expo this weekend? Sound off in the comments section or hit me up on Twitter @roundhoward ! Before you start crying like a gang of fucking girls, her ass isn’t horrible and I’d love to crawl up and die in it, even if she had the shits….. More importantly, her ass isn’t something photoshop won’t fix and it is possible that it is just the jeans she’s wearing that is making her look less like a hot assed bikini model and more like a middle aged rich mom who does her daily workout classes and eats organic, but who still has three kids that ravaged her….and not her being dumpy, thick and overrated as a bikini or lingerie model…. Even more importantly, I love me some big asses…just not when those big asses are wide, flat and lack personality….less of a smile and more of a frown….if you know what I mean….and if you don’t here are the pics…. Isn’t this girl 15? More reason to get your creep on? Shouldn’t her mother wait a few years before turning her into a sex object like her sister..or is she scared that after puberty, she’ll fill out like Kim, so get her while she’s tight, win over the crowd, just in case the Jenner genes don’t keep her fit….or is it a timing issue, get in now when the family is still on TV, before the family is forgotten, no time to wait…EXPLOIT EXPLOIT EXPLOIT…. You know, if you were to go to the local high school and try to organize a similar shoot in your basement…they’d probably call the police…but when it is for a corporation no one gets arrested…the world of teen erotica is unjust…. The whole thing is disturbing…unless you’re a real fucking pervert…which conveniently…I am… So here is a young, hot rendition of Kim Kardashian for the Kardashian/Jenner third round of kids to exploit for personal gain….
Earlier today I posted SHITTY QUALITY KATE UPTON BIG TITTY STRATEGIC NUDITY FOR MUSE MAGAZINE andit turns out they went the distance with issue by getting Brazilian model Izabel Goulart nude also, only Izabel Goulart actually got naked and showed some nipple, you know because unlike Kate Upton, she’s an actual model, and not some frat boy jock mascot with huge tits….but instead with great tits…and longevity in the industry….not that it matters…cuz what matters are the nipples…even in shitty quality they’re great…
Bigger Than the Sound takes a look back at 21 ‘s rather remarkable ride on the one-year anniversary of its release in the U.S. By James Montgomery Adele in her “Someone Like You” video Photo: Columbia Back in olde tymes, if something was a hallmark of consistency and dependability, it was proclaimed to be “so reliable you could set your watch to it.” This was high praise, and not just because watches were, like, the iPhones of their day (minus “Angry Birds,” of course). No, there was a time when reliability was actually celebrated in this country, and everything unerring, unchanging or uninterrupted — from Studebakers to Johnny Unitas’ haircut — was thusly awarded watch-setting status. Not surprisingly, that’s not exactly how things work anymore. Although, one could make the argument that Adele is doing her best to bring reliability off the back burner (back burners were also fairly common back then, both as a heating source and a simmering surface). Exactly one year ago today , she released her blockbuster 21 album in the U.S., and in the 52 weeks since , it’s not only broken records, won an armload of Grammys and singlehandedly revitalized the record industry, it’s also become the most dependable thing since Johnny U’s flattop. To wit, 21 has spent a staggering 40 percent of the past year atop the Billboard albums chart, has never been lower than #7, and has held steady in the top three since December. It not only survived challenges from Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Beyonc
The years since Lohan’s last ‘Saturday Night Live’ hosting gig have been filled with turmoil. By John Mitchell Lindsay Lohan Photo: FilmMagic For the first time in a long time, the universe seems to be working in Lindsay Lohan’s favor. The actress has been confirmed as host of the March 3 episode of “Saturday Night Live” and has reportedly booked the role of film legend Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime movie “Liz and Dick.” Recently, she’s been lying low and working to finish the community service she was sentenced to following numerous probation violations relating to past DUI arrests and charges she shoplifted a necklace from a Venice, California, boutique in early 2011. Her most recent probation progress reports from Los Angeles Superior Court judge Stephanie Sautner have been “glowing,” and there’s been some indication she may even be on track to complete the requirements of her probation early, according to Radar . Lohan last hosted “SNL” in April 2006. She’s hosted the legendary sketch-comedy show three times, receiving mostly positive reviews for her stints on the show. But a lot has happened to the starlet in the years since. Let’s take a look at where she was when she last hosted the show and the turbulent years since. When Lindsay Last Hosted ‘SNL’ When Lohan last graced the famous Studio 8-H at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, she was promoting her star vehicle “Just My Luck” and the Robert Altman-directed “A Prairie Home Companion.” Lohan received a career-high paycheck of $7 million for the rom-com, which was helmed by Donald Petrie, who was working in the genre that brought him great success with “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” and “Miss Congeniality.” The role was intended to be the bridge that carried Lohan from her child-star past into adult roles but failed to catch fire at the box office, grossing a disappointing $17 million. While it didn’t perform particularly well in theaters either, “Companion” earned warm reviews and, importantly, landed the actress accolades from two of the film industry’s most respected veterans, the late Altman, the legendary director of “MASH,” “Nashville,” “Short Cuts” and “Gosford Park,” and Meryl Streep, who complimented Lohan’s acting skills in W magazine, saying, “She’s in command of the art form” and “completely, visibly living in front of the camera.” While trouble was brewing in her personal life at the time, with rumors of drug use, hard partying and eating disorders already plaguing the then-19-year-old actress, Lohan still had some of the most highly esteemed people in her industry rushing to her defense. Later that same year, she earned a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination as part of the sprawling cast of “Bobby.” Just a month after her “SNL” appearance, concerns about her partying came to a head when she was hospitalized on the set of “Georgia Rule.” Her reps claimed “she was overheated and dehydrated,” but Morgan Creek Productions executive James G. Robinson famously called her bluff and did so very publicly, penning a letter that was quickly made public calling the actress “irresponsible and unprofessional” and stating, “We are well aware that your ongoing all night heavy partying is the real reason for your so-called ‘exhaustion.’ ” The actress soldiered on, but not for long. In January 2007, production on her much-maligned and financially unsuccessful film “I Know Who Killed Me” was suspended when she entered the hospital to have her appendix removed and again less than a month later when she entered the Wonderland Center, a lavish treatment facility for substance abuse that caters to a celebrity clientele. It was the first of several court-ordered and voluntary stays in rehab. Soon after, she withdrew from a planned film adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s “A Woman of No Importance” and was released from the independent film “The Edge of Love” after the director was not able to secure insurance for Lohan to star. Lohan’s Legal Troubles Begin The tumult that has plagued Lohan since early 2007 is as well-publicized as it is seemingly endless. For all intents and purposes, the legal troubles that continue to plague the actress really began in May 2007, when she was arrested for driving under the influence. We’ve briefly catalogued those troubles below: May 26, 2007 : Lohan is arrested after crashing her Mercedes into a shrub and curb in Los Angeles at 5:30 a.m. and is charged with misdemeanor DUI. She immediately re-enters rehab, this time at Promises Treatment Center in Malibu. July 24, 2007 : The actress is again arrested for DUI , this time following a brief car chase through Santa Monica. When police search Lohan, she is found to have a small amount of cocaine in her pocket. People reports that she was wearing an alcohol-detection ankle bracelet at the time of her arrest and was booked for DUI, possession of cocaine, transporting a narcotic into a custody facility and driving on a suspended license. In August, Lohan reaches a plea deal that includes one day in jail (though she ultimately only serves 84 minutes), 10 days of community service, completion of an 18-month alcohol-education program, hundreds of dollars in fines and 36 months of probation. February 2008 : Lohan re-creates Marilyn Monroe’s famous “Last Sitting” in a controversial photo shoot for New York magazine. Unable to secure acting roles, reportedly because production companies can’t afford the high cost of insuring her, she launches a line of leggings, 6126 (Monroe’s birthday), and a spray-tan line, Sevin Nyne, in collaboration with Sephora. October 16, 2009 : Lohan is more than an hour late to a probation hearing in Beverly Hills for a progress review on her two DUI cases and receives another year of probation due to failure to complete alcohol-education classes as required. June 8, 2010 : A judge issues an arrest warrant for Lohan after she violates a court order to not consume alcohol while wearing a SCRAM alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet. The warrant is recalled after she posts $200,000 bail. July 6, 2010 : Lohan is sentenced to 90 days in jail and 90 days in rehab for violating her probation in her DUI cases. July 20, 2010 : The actress is taken into custody to begin her jail term. She serves only 14 days of the 90-day sentence due to overcrowding and is taken immediately to UCLA Medical Center to begin her court-ordered rehab. She is again released early and permitted to continue her treatment on an outpatient basis. September 24, 2010 : Having failed a drug test, Lohan’s trial is revoked and she spends a day in jail before being released on bail. A few days later, she is sent on justice sequence to the Betty Ford Center, where she remains for three months. February 9, 2011 : Barely free for a month, Lohan is charged with a burglary after walking out of a Venice, California, boutique with a $2,500 necklace still around her neck. She pleads no contest, but as any violations of the law constitute a violation of her probation, she is sentenced to 120 days in jail, 360 hours of community service at a Los Angeles women’s shelter and 120 hours service at the L.A. County morgue. Due to jail overcrowding, she serves house arrest instead, wearing a tracking ankle monitor for 35 days. While underneath house arrest, her monitoring bracelet detects trace amounts of alcohol in her system, which under further investigation are not deemed a probation violation, so she receives no additional punishment. October 19, 2011 : After Lohan fails to complete her court-ordered community service, Judge Sautner revokes the actress’ probation and sends her to jail, telling the actress that if she wants to stay out of a corrections facility, she needs to complete 16 hours of community service at the morgue before her next hearing. She is again sentenced to jail November 7, this time for 30 days, but is released after just a few hours due to overcrowding. Following her latest brush with the law, the actress seemed to decide that enough was enough. She’s reportedly been diligent about completing her community service so she can get back to work as an actress and has received positive notices from the judge. Rumored to be experiencing financial difficulties due to her inability to work, Lohan accepted a $1 million deal to pose for the January issue of Playboy. Her photo shoot for the men’s magazine was, unsurprisingly, inspired by Marilyn Monroe’s shoot for the same mag. The issue was released early after the photos leaked online and was enormously successful, reportedly even selling out in some markets . Lohan’s March 3 appearance on “Saturday Night Live” will be her first acting gig since Robert Rodriguez’s 2010 film “Machete.” Are you rooting for Lindsay’s comeback? Let us know in the comments! Plus, buzz about Janet Jackson joining Cowell’s ‘X Factor’ panel continues to swirl. By John Mitchell Simon Cowell Photo: FOX Simon Cowell is enjoying the rivalry between TV’s top reality singing competitions and would “be up for” a sing-off featuring the winners of “The X Factor,” “American Idol” and “The Voice.” The “X Factor” mentor/judge took to Twitter Friday morning (February 17) to reveal that he “loves the rivalry between all the music shows” and went on to suggest a mega-showdown between the winners of TV’s three biggest reality singing competitions. “Maybe the winner of @TheXFactorUSA this yr should compete with winner of The Voice & Idol in a super final,” Cowell tweeted . “Just a thought. I’d be up for it.” Maybe the winner of @ TheXFactorUSA this yr should compete with winner of The Voice & Idol in a super final. Just a thought. I’d be up for it — Simon Cowell (@SimonCowell) February 17, 2012 Though “The X Factor” did not perform as well as Cowell and Fox had hoped last fall — the notoriously cocky judge even admitted , “it’s going to take a little longer than I thought” for the show to catch on in America — it has been renewed for a second season. When it returns later this year, however, viewers will see a very different panel, as judges/mentors Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, along with host Steve Jones, were let go in January. Rumors over who will replace Abdul and Scherzinger have been rampant, with speculation naming everyone from Beyonc
During the live MTV News special ‘Whitney Houston: In Her Own Words,’ we reflect on the diva’s biggest moments and interviews. By Kara Warner Whitney Houston Photo: MTV News Although many of us are still getting over the shock of Whitney Houston’s untimely death , MTV New paid its respects Wednesday (February 15) with ” Whitney Houston: In Her Own Words .” The live MTV News special was hosted by our own Sway Calloway and featured interview clips of Houston from her network debut in 1986 through her final interview, her career highs and lows, faith and family, as well as how she hoped to be remembered. MTV News gathered a collection of heartfelt reactions from Houston’s celebrity fans at Sunday’s Grammys, and Fergie, Amber Rose, Ne-Yo and Foster the People all spoke about the impact the late icon had on the industry. “Whitney was such an inspiration to me ever since I was a little girl,” Fergie said. “I used to watch the Grammys and I used to watch her walk up on that stage. She would belt out a song with such confidence, and I’d just dream that I could be on that stage like Whitney. She was a role model for me. She was an icon.” We dug into our vaults for Whitney’s top MTV moments, which included her first-ever performance and win for “How Will I Know” at the Video Music Awards in 1986, along with a rare, candid interview in 1998 with rumored rival Mariah Carey , during which they discussed what it means to be a diva and the miracle of having children. “The only thing I really have a problem with the diva factor is who represents it and how you represent being a diva.” Houston said of the label. “Exactly,” Carey agreed. “There’s a bitchy factor [associated with the word].” “Some people give divas a bad name,” Houston continued. “There is a standard of that kind of attitude … there’s a certain kind of humilia … ” “Humility,” Carey chimed in. “Humility. Thank you!” Houston said, showing off the exact quality she was speaking about. One of the most poignant moments in our special came from a 1991 interview in which she addressed the topic of how she hopes to be remembered. “Well, they’re going to remember me how they’re going to remember me. They’re going to write books, they’re going to do this, they’re going to write that, and everybody is going to have their own idea. I don’t know, I want to be remembered for being a real nice person, somebody who cared and tried to do everybody righteously,” she said. “I don’t want to go down for being a hag,” she added with a laugh. Houston died at age 48 of yet-undetermined causes. Share your condolences with Whitney’s family and friends on our Facebook page.
