8 People Shot And Injured At Brooklyn House Party So much for NY’s gun control law… Via NY 1: Police are investigating after eight people were shot and injured early this morning at a house party in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn. Police say four men and four women were shot at a barbecue on Clarendon Road and East 52nd Street just before 1 a.m. Investigators say the shooter crashed the party, opened fire and ran off. “Of course I was scared, I ran in my house. I saw the helicopter, I said ‘I’m going to follow the helicopter and I saw the police go ‘Wooo’ coming up. I don’t know,” said one onlooker. A teenage girl originally listed in critical condition has been upgraded to stable at Brookdale Hospital. Best Man Arrested For Killing Wife According To Examiner In a fateful turn of events, a best man at a couple’s 2009 wedding has been arrested for stabbing his former friend and his friend’s wife, who has since died of her injuries. The trending searched phrase of ‘Best man fatally stabs bride’ is a story of one-time friends turned enemies. Yahoo! News reported April 24 that 31-year-old Jonathan Broyhill attacked 27-year-old Nation Hahn and his wife, 29-year-old Jamie Kirk Hahn, at their Raleigh home Monday night. Jamie was a North Carolina political strategist who worked for high-profile Democratic candidates. Broyhill reportedly worked with Jamie Hahn at the Democratic firm Sky Blue Strategies, which she founded. A spokesman for WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, where the couple were taken Monday night, said Wednesday morning that Hahn had died from her injuries. On Wednesday morning, Jamie’s husband, Nation Hahn, mourned his wife’s death on Twitter: “She was my center, my rock and my soulmate.” Nation Hahn was released after being treated for his injuries. Broyhill was arrested and charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Broyhill was also being treated for his injuries, after allegedly turning the knife on himself. A murder charge has now been added after Jamie Hahn succumbed to her injuries. Although Raleigh police continue to investigate the motive for the attack, sources say that the murder was over missing money from a former Congressman’s political campaign. Former Democratic U.S. Rep. Brad Miller, who decided not to seek re-election in 2012, said he hired Sky Blue for fundraising help around 2010. Jonathan Broyhill was the main person with access to fundraising software, Miller said. “Some of the things that Jonathan said about the campaign finances were inconsistent with other information,” Miller said Wednesday. “It’s probably the case that Jamie was asking questions on behalf of the campaign about campaign finances. I think it’s bound to be part of the investigation of Jon’s motive.” In October, the Federal Elections Commission sent Miller campaign treasurer John Wallace a letter requesting more information about documents that appeared to show donors receiving refunds from the campaign in excess of what they paid. Those five donors gave a combined $8,250 in the 2012 quarterly report cited by the FEC, but the document shows the five receiving a combined $15,900 in refunds. Avelino Tajonera, 49, a welder from the Philippines working on the Black Elk Energy rig, died in a New Orleans hospital on Friday morning, according to a statement from the Philippine Ambassador to the United States. He died shortly after his wife and three children arrived from Manila. One of the men burned last week in an explosion and fire on an oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico died on Friday of his injuries, an official said, bringing the confirmed death toll from the accident to two. Man Arrested For Slashing Sleeping Kids’ Throats Another senseless and sad crime committed against innocent children … A man is in custody and charged with the throat-slashing attack that killed a little boy and left his sister in critical condition in Camden, N.J., prosecutors said. Osvaldo Rivera, 31, of Camden, was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with murder and attempted murder, said Jason Laughlin, a spokesman for the Camden County prosecutor’s office, The Associated Press reported. Rivera is in jail awaiting arraignment. Dominick Andujor, 6, died from his injuries. His 12-year-old sister was in critical condition at Cooper Hospital. This is a tragic and sad story. The latest in a string of big budget studio movie lawsuits has been lobbed at the makers of Men in Black 3 , with extra Danika Gerner claiming that she was outfitted with a costume that led to her suffering “serious bodily injuries” during filming last May. The curious part: Reports give no clues as to just how Gerner’s costume injured her, or which background character she played. More on the litigious wardrobe malfunction after the jump. Per THR : “Gerner alleges that the costume department provided her with a costume in a ‘defective and dangerous condition’ and that the defendants were ‘negligent in failing to take suitable precautions’ for her safety.” Gerner claims her injuries still prevent her from working, which really makes me wonder – what kind of costume could put you out for over a year? When the trailer dropped last week, fans immediately began to watch it on repeat. It lends insight and gives sneak peeks into what Lovatics will get to see and hear from the star when the full show airs next week. The deeply personal special follows the singer/actress as she struggles to confront her personal demons, while also focusing on her music career. “I wanted to do this documentary because I told a lot of my story but no one has taken cameras inside of my life and gotten to see what it’s like first-hand a day in the life of me,” she told MTV News on Thursday (March 1). “I thought it would be a cool opportunity for my fans to see what it’s like.” Before the show airs, MTV News is taking a look at several of the must-see moments from the trailer. Her Fans Demi opens up about the support she received from her fans during her personal struggles, noting that they helped her though her darkest days and still do. Her fans also talk about how appreciative they are of her openness and honesty. She even visits the Illinois treatment facility where she spent several months. She later says, “I’m not fixed; this is a daily battle. But I continue to work my butt off because now I want to be a legitimate role model.” Battling Her Eating Disorders The singer/actress makes her way home for her first Thanksgiving since treatment. Having dealt with eating disorders, she goes to a family gathering for a holiday that’s focused on eating. “I never thought that I’d be a role model,” she says about her public image. “When I first started in the industry, everyone just kind of made me a role model, and I hated that. I had so many issues underneath that needed to be taken care of. … It literally ended up driving me insane.” Getting Back to Touring She cut her tour with the Jonas Brothers short in 2010 when she went into treatment, and in fall 2011 she embarked on her first tour since leaving treatment.
