Amy Winehouse Hologram Tour Is Happening In 2019

Source: photo: WENN Before her unexpected death in 2011 Amy Winehouse seemed well on her way to international superstardom but like many artists before her the addiction to alcohol and substance abuse derailed her career and ended up being the reason for her too early demise. Now her family is looking to keep her essence alive by embarking on a hologram tour in conjunction with BASE Hologram. Rolling Stone is reporting that the singer’s estate has come to an agreement with the entertainment company to kick off a tour next year that will feature “digitally remastered arrangements of [Winehouse’s] classics” while the hologram “will be backed by a live band, singers and theatrical stagecraft.” After Tupac shook up Coachella back in 2012 via digital hologram, there was talk of a Biggie and even Elvis hologram tour but none of those every came to fruition for whatever reasons. But this seems like it may very well be a go and Amy’s father, Mitch told Rolling Stone that this was a “dream for us.” He went on to add  “To see her perform again is something special that really can’t be put into words. Our daughter’s music touched the lives of millions of people and it means everything that her legacy will continue in this innovative and groundbreaking way.” But this won’t just be a tour for the sake of banking off of Amy’s legacy. The hologram tour will also be used to raise money for the Amy Winehouse Foundation which works to stymie young people’s abuse of drugs and alcohol. Sounds kosher to us. No word yet on when the tour will be ready to get on the road but should everything go accordingly we’re all going to be looking at Puff Daddy expecting him to take Biggie’s likeness on the road one last time.

Lou Pearlman, Crooked Creator Of N*SYNC And Backstreet Boys, Dies In Prison At Age 62

Lou Pearlman Dies In Prison While Serving 25-Year Sentence Lou Pearlman, the innovative yet extremely crooked manager that masterminded mega-acts like Backstreet Boys, N*SYNC , passed away while serving a 25-year prison sentence in connection with running a $300 million ponzi scheme yesterday. He was 62. Via Orlando Sentinel : Boy band promoter Lou Pearlman, known for launching groups such as the Backstreet Boys and ‘NSync, died in prison Friday while serving a 25-year sentence for one of the largest Ponzi schemes in Florida history, a federal inmate database shows. Pearlman cashed in on the boy-band craze, building an empire of acts around the globe in the late 1990s and early 2000s. It collapsed in 2006 after he was exposed for running a massive $300 million Ponzi scheme. He declared bankruptcy in 2007 and was convicted of fraud in 2008. The cause of death for the 62-year-old was not disclosed Saturday. Calls to the Federal Bureau of Prisons were not returned. The Orlando entrepreneur is credited with starting the ’90s boy-band craze and managed huge acts including the Backstreet Boys, ‘N Sync, O-Town and the Chippendales before the scheme was uncovered. After the scheme was uncovered, hundreds of lawsuits were filed in the case, including one by the Backstreet Boys, and some victims were taken for their life savings. Pearlman was caught by FBI agents in Bali, Indonesia while running from creditors and regulators. He was living under the false name, A. Incognito Johnson. He was expelled from the country and arrested in Guam. Incognito Johnson??? He sounds like he lowkey wanted to be caught. This guy was crooked as they come, but the late 90’s and early 2000’s wouldn’t have been the same without him… WireImage

Finally: The Hunger Games Has its Own Cookies

Screw the bread : From the innovative bakery that brought you edible Uggies — and just in time for one of the more passionately anticipated opening days of the year — comes this remarkable contribution to the annals of sweets: Hunger Games cookies. Leave it to the masterminds at Eleni’s to whip up Katniss, Peeta, Gale, tracker jackers and the rest of the “Down with the Capitol” cookie set — an assortment of call-outs to the best-selling, soon-to-be-a-major-motion-picture book series. I’ve never read a page of Suzanne Collins’s novels and personally continue to find Woody Harrelson’s wig a staggeringly tall barrier to film-franchise entry, but even a disinterested party can’t help but want to nibble on Jennifer Lawrence. Or Liam Hemsworth. I can’t believe I just wrote that. It’s Friday! I’m high of cold meds and self-loathing. Just stand back. Find out more at Eleni’s Web site . The Black Eyed Peas Define Innovation Before O Music Awards Debate

Most Innovative Music Video award will be handed out live Monday at 4 p.m. ET during online roundtable. By MTV News staff will.i.am Photo: MTV News On Monday, in a roundtable debate , the first-ever O Music Award will be handed out: Most Innovative Music Video. For weeks, fans have been voting for their favorite boundary-pushing, genre-expanding clip over at the O Music Awards site , and come Monday (at 4 p.m. ET on OMusicAwards.com and MTV.com), they can watch as a winner is crowned — after some spirited debate from producer/ Global14.com creator Jermaine Dupri, acclaimed video director Wayne Isham, Mashable’s Brenna Ehrlich and MTV News’ James Montgomery. We’ll also be hearing from a host of acts who know a thing or two about innovation — including the Black Eyed Peas, who have melded hip-hop, pop and dance music into a sound that is uniquely theirs and have pushed the boundaries of music videos at the same time. So we decided to ask them to describe what innovation means to them. And, not surprisingly, they went all the way back to the early days of MTV — during the first reign of the King of Pop. “There would be no MTV if it wasn’t for Michael Jackson,” will.i.am said. “If you think about it, ‘Billie Jean’ and ‘Thriller’ &#8212 all those songs &#8212 it was right around the time the video, it boomed. It was the first Internet, right? The idea of a visual, coupled with audio, and it was the first time you would see your favorite artist who was played all over the radio that told you to go see the concert. “So the video amplified concerts, it amplified the song on the radio, it created a business to where we were given MTV songs to play our video,” he continued. “It was a great business. ‘Check this out: I’m going to play the stuff you pay to make.’ … That is the best thing in the world.” And from Michael Jackson to today, the Peas see a clear line of inspiration — one that pushes the medium of the music video forward, through nothing more than sheer innovation alone. “It makes you really inspired to see people like Missy Elliott. She always had amazing videos. Ludacris, Busta Rhymes … Marilyn Manson is one of my favorite video stars; I’m always stuck like glue to the screen when he presents a video, because it’s just interesting, and it’s creative, and it’s really showing a peephole into his world,” Fergie said. “And I think that’s what it is with a video: You’re getting a peephole into a moment of an artist’s life, to present the visual with what you do sonically.” The O Music Awards debate for the Most Innovative Music Video, presented by Fuze, will stream live on OMusicAwards.com and MTV.com at 4 p.m. ET on Monday. The inaugural O Music Awards will stream live from Las Vegas at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT on OMusicAwards.com . As part of MTV News’ countdown to the interactive event — fans can still vote for their favorite boundary-pushing, genre-expanding clip over at the O Music Awards site — we’ve been asking celebs to describe what innovation means to them. “It’s something that definitely is unique, that utilizes either new media or new technologies,” said pro skater Tony Hawk. “It’s something that keeps you interested, all the way through,” “Gossip Girl” actress and Pretty Reckless singer Taylor Momsen added. Rob Sheffield from Rolling Stone said “innovative” doesn’t mean expensive or flashy. “It’s not the budget, it’s not the effects; it’s the pizzazz the star is actually bring to the camera,” he said. Chidera “Chiddy” Anamege of Chiddy Bang said innovation is about being different. “Just trying to be unconventional,” he said. “You say, ‘What’s unconventional?’ It’s just doing something that isn’t really done.” On Monday morning, the original list of 10 nominees will be whittled down to the top five vote-getters, and then, during the debate, our roundtable and the Internet audience will cut that list down to the final three. At the very end, we’ll announce the winner of the very first O Music Award for Most Innovative Video. Jennifer Lopez Poses With Lil Wayne On ‘I’m Into You’ Video Set

New photos show the pair all dressed in black and mugging for the camera on set. By Jocelyn Vena Jennifer Lopez and Lil Wayne Photo: Gilly Iyer What happens when Jennifer Lopez and Lil Wayne shoot a video together? Well, according to two new stills from the “I’m Into You” video set, the two take it very seriously and dress all in black. In one photo, J.Lo is seen standing in a very little black dress and thigh-high boots, looking fiercely into the camera. Wayne is standing next to her, also in all black, checking the time on his watch. In another shot, the pair stands back to back, in the same outfits, both looking like they are deep in thought. The video is set to drop on May 2, a day before J.Lo’s album Love? hits the street. Previous photos from the video set show the “American Idol” judge in a much more exotic locale at Chichen Itza in Mexico. At Chichen Itza, the singer was spotted sitting atop the steps of the historic pyramid, glaring seductively, with her legs crossed, as a camera crew hovers below her. She was wearing a long snake-print sundress with matching bracelets and headband. Another on-set photo shows Lopez in a metallic two-piece, showing her midriff and legs. “I’m Into You” is the second single off her forthcoming album. She climbed to the top of the charts with the first single, the RedOne-produced, Pitbull-assisted dance song “On the Floor.” When she’s not busy being a dance diva, Lopez is judging talent on “Idol,” shopping a new reality show and gearing up to perform at the Billboard Music Awards. Are you excited for the new J.Lo and Lil Wayne video? Tell us in the comments!
