Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg Stun Coachella With Eminem, 50 Cent, Tupac Hologram

The pair’s historic set also included surprise guests Warren G, Wiz Khalifa and Kendrick Lamar. By Mary J. DiMeglio Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg perform at Coachella Photo: Getty Images INDIO, California — Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg wowed Coachella’s final night Sunday with a roster of guests way beyond what even the rumors could have predicted. Backed by a live band and unexpectedly artsy video screens, no less than Eminem, 50 Cent, Warren G and a hologram of Tupac graced the stage. As if that wasn’t enough, Wiz Khalifa also joined the West Coast hip-hop legends for the anthem of the weekend, “Young, Wild and Free,” which had the crowd singing the chorus in unison: “So what we get drunk/ So what we smoke w—/ We’re just having fun/ We don’t care who sees/ So what we go out/ That’s how it’s supposed to be/ Living young and wild and free.” Kendrick Lamar — who performed an afternoon set on the main stage Friday — also joined the pair for “The Recipe,” his new joint featuring Dre, who introduced him as “straight outta Compton.” After their own “The Next Episode” and “Deep Cover (187 on an Undercover Cop),” Dre and Snoop covered House of Pain’s “Jump Around.” The hardest moment of the night came when 50 Cent stormed the stage for “What Up Gangsta” with Tony Yayo by his side, seguing into “P.I.M.P.” with tropical calypso steel drums and his 2003 breakthrough hit, “In da Club.” Snoop paid homage to his late homey Nate Dogg, performing “Ain’t No Fun” alongside Kurupt and Warren G as the screens displayed photos of Nate, Snoop and the rest of the Dogg Pound. The appearance of the late Tupac in very-realistic hologram form, which was amazing to some and creepy to others, brought “Hail Mary” and “2 of Amerika’z Most Wanted.” Eminem even came out for “I Need a Doctor,” a dubstep-flavored “Forgot About Dre” and “Til I Collapse.” Capping their historic set with “What’s My Name?” and “Still D.R.E.,” Dre and Snoop disappeared below the stage with the Good Doctor proclaiming to the adoring audience, “I wanna say thank you for the love for so many years.” Sunday’s surprise guests didn’t stop there though, as Rihanna joined Calvin Harris for her latest single, “Where Have You Been,” and “We Found Love,” and Rage Against the Machine spitter Zack de la Rocha lent his lyrics to DJ Shadow. Earlier in the night, the main stage was handled by French electronic duo Justice and the much-anticipated At the Drive-In reunion. The influential post-hardcore band had heads banging to “Pattern Against User,” “Lopsided,” “Enfilade” and slowed it down a bit with the melodic “Napoleon Solo.” Elsewhere, the Sahara dance tent hosted Avicii, the Weeknd grooved a huge crowd at the Outdoor Stage as he sang the sun down with his soulful jams, and Florence and the Machine had the ladies lifted with the frontwoman’s request that the “strong gentleman in the house” offer their shoulders for “Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up).” In response to last year’s event selling out — a week after the 2011 lineup was announced — the festival is experimenting with featuring the same artists for two consecutive three-day weekends: April 13-15 and April 20-22. At Coachella’s uncharacteristically cold and glooming first day Friday , the Black Keys and Swedish House Mafia kept fans warm. Saturday brought Radiohead, Bon Iver and David Guetta with Usher. Katy Perry Debuts Darker Locks, ’90s Style At Coachella

‘Today’s lewk is sponsored by courtney love, virgin suicides & fern gully #nymph,’ singer tweets. By Jocelyn Vena Katy Perry at day three of the Coachella Music Festival in Los Angeles on April 15 Photo: Getty Images After Katy Perry teased her fans that she had completely changed up her hair last week, she went back to black … sort of. Perry debuted her much darker locks at the Coachella music festival over the weekend. After sporting neon-hued hair for some time now, the singer’s new ‘do has a black undertone with navy, deep lavender and eggplant highlights throughout. And while she had been favoring shorter hair over the last several months, her new coiffure is long and wavy. Perry even tweeted about her new look from the music festival, calling out the pop culture moments that inspired her outfits, which ranged from a long, see-through boho dress to a goth-inspired black dress, the latter of which she wore Friday, explaining, “In honor of Friday the 13th The CRAFT is the inspiration for this evenings lewk … #takemyscars #coachella.” A day later she shared, “Today’s lewk is sponsored by courtney love, virgin suicides & fern gully #nymph.” That’s the day she was spotted in her see-through boho dress. On Sunday, Perry tweeted, “Todays lewk is sponsored by hot topic meets twilight. #ashish.” She was photographed in a short, bright floral print dress, ripped-up tights and clunky shoes. Before she hit Coachella over the weekend, Perry hinted that she had every intention of looking to the ’90s for inspiration for her style. “Pretty stoked about my 90’s The Craft meets Garbage meets Tank Girl meets early No Doubt meets Ty from Clueless lewk 4 dis wknd #ohmygoth.” Over the past 12 months, Perry has been particularly experimental with her hair color, most recently sporting a berry-blue color. “She’s kind of this candy-coated sort of person,” her hairstylist Rita Hazan said. “It’s nice to see her experiment with different things.” Related Photos Katy Perry’s Five Best Hairstyles 2012 Coachella Music Festival Related Artists Katy Perry

‘Hunger Games’ Brought Elizabeth Banks To Tears

‘It’s the greatest movie of all time,’ actress declares to MTV News. By Kevin P. Sullivan, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Elizabeth Banks at the “Hunger Games” premiere Photo: Getty Images As an enormous fan of “The Hunger Games,” Elizabeth Banks got to live out any book lover’s dream by starring in the film adaptation. The end result, in Banks’ objective opinion, was nothing short of the best movie ever. “Totally unbiased, as if I was just off the street: It’s the greatest movie of all time,” she declared. “It’s really good.” Banks spoke with MTV News’ Josh Horowitz about her emotional experience making the film and the real-life inspiration for her portrayal of Effie Trinket. Spoilers ahead. After seeing the completed film, one of the scenes that stuck out for Banks was Rue’s funeral, shortly after she’s killed in the Games. “I always knew that Rue’s funeral would be amazing. I mean, it’s one of my favorite parts of the book,” Banks said. “I think everybody loves the relationship between Katniss and Rue, and her funeral is exactly how I imagined it, just really beautiful. That she sings to her is amazing, and it’s so emotional. It’s a five-hanky moment. There’s some serious bawling happening by dudes in the theater.” Being a part of the actual filming of the story didn’t make watching the final product any less emotional for Banks. Even she couldn’t help but shed a few tears. “When watching it, I totally cried. I cried making the movie, seriously,” Banks said. “When we were shooting the Reaping, and the very first time Jennifer [Lawrence] came out and said, ‘I volunteer. I volunteer.’ I think it was rehearsal; we weren’t even shooting yet. I was like, ‘That’s the most amazing thing.’ ” As with all adaptations of books, not everything can be as the reader imagines. But Banks said that made “The Hunger Games” even better. “There were a couple things that weren’t how I pictured it, but I’m not even sure that I pictured Effie’s hair the way Effie’s hair ultimately ended up being, but I love everything,” she said. “It was better than what I thought. That’s what I loved about it. There were a lot of things that were a lot cooler than I thought they’d be.” To bring Effie to life, Banks worked closely with crew to create a truly unique villainess. As it turns out, the secrets to Effie’s origins lie in Hollywood history. “I had amazing collaborators, first of all, Gary Ross. Gary said, in his mind’s eye, he always imagined Effie’s face was like Joel Grey in ‘Cabaret.’ If you remember, he had really white skin, cracked and messed up, just kind of grotesque,” Banks explained. “Because Effie’s a villain, we really wanted her to be a little villainous in that way, so that was our jumping-off point.” Similarly, Banks owed the inspiration for Effie’s theatrical voice to one of the screen’s most iconic leading ladies. “[The voice] was very much inspired by Rosalind Russell ‘s ‘Auntie Mame.’ I really felt like Effie is everyone’s ‘Auntie Mame,’ just an outrageous person who says all of the wrong things and has all these crazy friends and lives a very extravagant lifestyle that’s beyond her,” Banks said. “She’s one of my favorite performers, and it’s one of my favorite performances. She just has that great New York Broadway accent in the film, so that was my jumping-off point for Effie.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Hunger Games.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . My name is Emily and I’m here to finally share my AMAZING…

My name is Emily and I’m here to finally share my AMAZING Bieber experience with everyone! But before I start, I just want to say if you are reading these stories and haven’t met Justin yet, wipe those tears away from your eyes because it will happen! I used to be one of those people that came on here and got all depressed because I thought I would never get to meet Justin but LOOK AT ME NOW B*TCH! Every Belieber deserves to meet him and all Beliebers WILL meet him! It all started on the morning of February 13 th  2012 when I was on my way to school. My belieber buddy Reiko and I were walking when I got a call from my other Belieber buddy Angeliesse saying that Justin was in NYC with Selena Gomez and that she knew where his hotel was! After almost going into cardiac arrest (not really) I told Reiko the amazing news and we headed back onto the train in hopes of meeting our inspiration JUSTIN BIEBER! Keep in mind that this has been our dream for well…what feels like forever! We get off the train, met up with Angeliesse, had a spaz party and then went to his hotel! When we got there, there were a few other Beliebers waiting and ya know how we do, we are a family we connected like that! Within the first 15 minutes of being there, a beautiful black escalade pulled up and we all knew whose car that was! A few minutes after the car came, out of the hotel comes Justin freaking Bieber with Moshe (white Kenny)! I don’t know how we did this but all of us stayed calm and walked over to him and asked for pictures. Just a random little fact to put out there, Moshe was holding a laptop that I assume was Justin’s because it said SWAG in big letters on the front. Anyway, like the gentleman he is, Justin stopped to take pictures with us and was almost done until a ummm how do I put this politely….. a VERY VERY VERY annoying paparazzi came in Justin’s face with a camera and obnoxiously started taking pictures. Understandably, Justin jumped in his car. Although Angeliesse got her picture with him, Reiko and I were devastated that we didn’t get a picture. After Justin went in the car, the same paparazzi that ruined everything kept tapping on his window and taking pictures. Finally Justin opened the door of the escalade and said “STOP IT!” the man kept on taking pictures and knocking on the windows and Justin again opened the door and said, “I said to stop it, GO AWAY!”  The crazy man still didn’t stop, so me being the belieber that I am, I went over to the paparazzi and pushed him away from the car and said “Justin said to stop alright?” I don’t know if Justin saw this even though his car was right there, but even if he didn’t I am proud that I did that because NOBODY MESSES WITH JUSTIN! I’m not a violent person at all but what had to be done had to be done! So once the car left, Reiko and I were so upset we missed our chance. One of the other Beliebers there came up to us and said, “You guys will get your pictures! I promise!” That was so sweet of her but we were still pretty doubtful about it. As hours went by Reiko and I were still waiting outside the hotel praying that we would be able to catch him when he came back. A lot later in the day, at around 3pm. We see Kenny Hamilton a few times, take a picture with him as well as Moshe! As time started to pass, more and more fans started showing up and we were really upset because we thought we had no chance. BUT…. Are you ready???? Ok, at around 3:30pm, out comes Justin from the hotel looking AMAZING! He was off going to meet that adorable little Ms. Bieber girl but before he did he spent a little time with his fans! He was in the best mood ever! Talking to his fans, and being so adorable! Finally it was my turn to take a picture with him and I was speechless! It was a little hectic and I didn’t get to say anything but getting a picture was more than enough! After the picture was taken he patted me on the back and I could’ve just melted! When he was done and got into his car, I went over to the window just to see him one last time. I blew a kiss at him and HE BLEW ONE BACK RIGHT AT ME!!!! I always knew Justin was an amazing person from the way he carries himself everyday as he is being watched over and criticized by the world, but seeing him in person that day, and the way he interacted with his fans, and how he truly loves them shows what a great role model and inspiration he really is. So Justin, if you are reading this by any chance. I LOVE YOU! Thank you for being able to stay grounded in this crazy dream you are living! And to the fans who are reading this NEVER SAY NEVER! -@22EmilyBieber22 Read the original here: My name is Emily and I’m here to finally share my AMAZING…

My name’s Steph, I’m 17, from London, England and…

My name’s Steph, I’m 17, from London, England and I’m a huge fan of Justin. My first experience involving Justin was when he followed me on the 9th of August, 2009. Without me even asking. It was such a surprise! Unfortunately, I had a not so nice ‘friend’ who hacked my Twitter and blocked him. That obviously meant he no longer followed me. Until a few days later. The 14th of August. He followed me. Without asking. Again. The first thing I did was scream, then change my password.  Up until October 2010, I thought my chances of meeting or seeing Justin were pretty slim. Now I’ve seen him twice. On October 10, I remember coming home from college and my mum had a huge smile on her face. I asked her what her smile was for and she said she had booked two tickets for me and a friend to go and see Justin the following March. I couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t love my mum more for that! But the weeks went by, and the release of Never Say Never was coming up . I had never been to a premiere of a film before and thought you needed to be mega famous or rich to even have a chance of going. I was wrong. I rang my friend and we arranged to go. And yes, I missed a day of college because it was a weekday. My mum wasn’t happy but it was SO worth it. We arrived at 10am, outside the O2 arena on February 14th, 2011 and there were already hundreds of screaming Beliebers there, a sea of purple, literally. We waited for 7 and a half hours in the freezing February weather, until our bags were searched and we were all allowed in. There was hardly any space at the front of the barriers lined against the purple carpet but we found a tiny space to fit into. We waited there for another hour which seemed to drag! We finally saw Justin on the big screen, getting out of his car outside. I can honestly say I had never screamed so loud in my life. The cameras followed Justin all the way inside and onto the balcony where he did an interview and blew kisses to us all. Meanwhile, Carin, Scooter, Jon and Ryan Good had all stopped by and said ‘hi how are you’ to us all. They were lovely. After a while, Justin had made his way round to our bit of the carpet and of course, I was freaking out! I held out my copy of ‘First Step To Forever’ in hope that he might sign it, and he did! He looked right into my camera and said ‘Hey.’ I was the happiest person ever and could just about manage a ‘Hello’ back to him. Justin then made his way into the cinema screening and we sadly had to leave but I can say, I cried all the way home. It was the best day of my entire life, joint with the day of the concert. We arrived in central London early on March 14th, spent the day there and then made our way to the O2. We bought a programme and a glow stick thing each. We were entrance B and all I remember feeling, besides cold, was excitement!! There were honestly hundreds and hundreds of people just waiting to get through that one entrance. We were at the front and finally got let through, ran up the stairs, through the double doors and into our seats. The supporting acts, including Willow Smith were great! Then came the count down to Justin coming on and the whole audience counted down from 10 seconds. The atmosphere was electric. Justin did amazing that night and like the premiere, I didn’t want it to end. They were the best two days of my life and only in London, could you get a whole audience singing the ABC along with baby Justin on the VT between one of his songs, haha! I’d like to say to anyone reading this who hasn’t seen or met Justin yet, DO NOT GIVE UP! Your time will come when you’re least expecting it. The feeling of meeting my inspiration, was indescribable. And it still is to this day. So Justin, if you’re reading this, I’d like to say thank you for making my dream come true, twice and I love you. -@belieber_steph More here: My name’s Steph, I’m 17, from London, England and…

Jaycee Dugard Receives Award From Oprah, Makes First Public Appearance Since Rescue

Now 31, Jaycee Dugard, who had been kidnapped at age 11 and held prison for 18 years, appeared at her first public event since her ordeal this weekend. Receiving the Inspiration Award at famed fashion designer-philanthropist Diane von Furstenberg’s DVF Awards held at the United Nations, her words resonated. “My name is Jaycee Dugard , and I want to say that because for a long time I wasn’t able to say my name and so it feels good,” she told the crowd. “I am truly honored to be here tonight with all of these amazing women who have done and been through so much more than me.” Dugard, who had two children fathered by her kidnapper, got very emotional when she thanked her mother’s unwavering support and faith. “I have to say I felt her hope for many years and it gave me the strength to go on and live,” the soft-spoken Dugard said. “And I did live.” “I have two beautiful daughters who I love with all my heart.” Oprah Winfrey herself presented the honor to Jaycee at the DVF Awards, dedicated to honoring women for continued leadership, strength and courage. Winfrey, who received the Lifetime Leadership award, said she had been eager to meet Dugard “to tell her how much her story and her life meant to me.” “I am so proud of you,” said Winfrey . “You are using your courage and your strength and your power to show the world that you care.” Speaking about her JAYC Foundation that helps families recovering from abduction, Dugard urged people to empower themselves by helping others. “My hope is to be remembered for what I do, not to what happened to me,” she said with a smile. Based on this appearance, she’s well on her way.
