Last week, while most of us were gearing up for an Independence Day celebration or at least a nice day off, Jay Smith was in ICE custody . Now, his friend says that he sits in despair, never having experienced anything like this before. She also reveals the one thing that’s keeping him positive during this scary experience. … “He said it is hard in lockup,” Jay Smith’s friend, Kayla O’Brien, admits to In Touch Weekly . Jay’s friend explains that this is such a shock to him “because he’s never done anything like this before.” “[He said] sometimes you feel you are going crazy,” Kayla reveals. “But,” she notes. “He has been able to stay so positive.” Jay has only managed that “due to the amazing support of his family and friends.” “He is so thankful and appreciative,” Kayla expresses of Jay. “And,” she adds. “You can always hear it in his voice.” According to Kayla, “he knows how hard we are working for him.” “It’s been a wild, emotional ride,” she characterizes. “But,” she notes warmly. “He is most definitely hanging in there.” “He is so admirable,” Kayla gushes about Jay’s resolve behind bars. She cannot help but respect “how he has stayed so strong, so calm, so collected, and so positive.” “I am proud of him,” Jay’s friend concludes. Some would reply to this by sharing Kayla’s sentiments. Others may wonder how much of this is just thirst talking. “He will be deported on Aug. 7 unless he runs, which is what I’m assuming he’s probably [planning],” Ashley Martson shared in June. “The thing that’s really frustrating is he’s here illegally now …” she expressed. Ashley clarified: “I did file for his adjustment of status, and then two weeks later he screwed up again, so I withdrew it.” “ICE has already been here to arrest him. They know where he works,”Ashley noted. “I mean obviously, if they come to my house at this point, I’m gonna tell them where he’s at,” she made clear. Ashley concluded at the time: “So I’m not sure why he’s still sticking around because we got a letter three weeks ago saying he has an active warrant for his arrest.” But apparently Jay wasn’t willing to wait that long. Ashley has explained that, when she and her family left for a short vacation, Jay allegedly broke into her home. She contacted law enforcement, who advised her to obtain a PFA — an order for the Prevention From Abuse. Ashley did, and has told the world that there was “a lot of abuse” in her trounled marriage. She was granted the protection order on July 1. Jay violated it … on July 2. The PFA included a stipulation that Jay was not to speak publicly of the order. For some reason, he decided to discuss it in his Instagram Stories, which came to the attention of police. Even Ashley was heartbroken after he was ordered to surrender himself to authorities and was placed in ICE custody. He does have an upcoming hearing next week, on July 17. There, he will discuss violating the protective order. Clearly, Kayla would like to see him released from custody. It’s rare that a week goes by without Jessa Duggar getting mom-shamed for some behavior or belief that her Instagram followers don’t agree with. But it’s just as rare for Jessa to take this much flak in the span of just a few days. Earlier this week, Jessa was criticized for denying her daughter a pacifier. Many of her followers felt that this was an unnecessarily cruel restriction which did not serve to benefit the child in any way. Yes, it’s only been 8 weeks since Jessa welcomed her third child , and that’s the sort of backlash she’s forced to contend with already. We suppose it’s not hard to see why she’s not taking it lying down. “I always nurse my babies on demand, so she has constant access to the ‘pacifier’ God designed,” Jessa responded when a follower asked why she’s so opposed to pacifiers. “I am her pacifier,” Jessa added. “I prefer it that way too … Nursing isn’t only for food, but for comfort and Mama’s closeness.” Eh … not all that wacky an explanation by Duggar standards, and “God’s pacifiers” is a hilarious way to refer to boobs, so we’ll allow it. Besides, we have new and equally weird Jessa parenting controversies to move on to. As you may know, the Duggars are very, very big on disciplining their children. And this means not only are the kids punished at a young age (sometimes with such controversial techniques as ” blanket training “), they also start helping out around the house at a very young age. Which explains why Jessa’s eldest — 3-year-old Spurgeon — is already working a vacuum cleaner: Spurgeon Seewald Does Chores The Duggars have taken flak for their perceived unwillingness to let kids be kids, which may explain why Jessa decided to get in front of that criticism by posting a lengthy explanation for the video above: “There’s a window of time in the toddler years where little ones become eager to help,” she wrote. “It’s so sweet to watch their excitement as they are allowed to take part in meaningful tasks— not pretend ‘helping,’ but really doing something that helps out the whole family,” she added. “Playing together is fun, but even the cleanup can be fun if we do it together. There’s a sense of importance and belonging and being needed.” Jessa went on to explain that she doesn’t encourage her kids to help because it saves her time in effort — in fact, she claims the reverse is true: “Sometimes as a mom I have to pause and remember this,” she stated. “Yes, it may take 5x longer than if I did it myself, but they find it exciting to help out and lend a hand,” Jessa continued. “We definitely need to encourage this and not squelch the excitement. “My mom modeled this beautifully. ‘There’s a window of time where they’re eager to help. Capture it. Don’t squelch it.’” Must be quite an honor for Michelle Duggar to receive such a loving tribute from her daughter. Of course, Michelle was such a strict disciplinarian that it’s possible Jessa is still afraid of her! Ashley Jacobs made her controversial return to Southern Charm on Wednesday. Naturally, she caught a plenty of flak from fans who were not pleased to see her return after all the drama with Thomas Ravenel . But co-star Landon Clements showed up to declare herself for team Ashley, and she’s telling the haters to back off! On the night of Ashley’s return to the series, Landon took to Instagram in solidarity, posting a photo of herself with Ashley. It’s a lovely, simple black and white shot of the two girls smiling and just being buds. Landon added a supportive caption to the post as well. “I wish everyone got to meet the girl I know,” Landon captions. Simple and to the point, for sure, but it wasn’t enough to sway most of the fans in the comments. “She should’ve acted like the girl you know,” responded one fan with a sassy, winking emoji. Others were so offended by the show of support, they were ready to lump Landon in with Ashley “Kathryn was right about Landon this whole time,” said one commentor. They went on to add, “And to think most of us thought Landon was the southern belle and Kathryn was the crazy one.” But Landon clapped back to set the record straight. “Give Kathryn a google,” Landon replied, adding that she was “sadly up to her old ways.” Kathryn is still in the midst of a vicious custody battle with Thomas Ravenel, who dated and left her before moving on to Ashley. Landon and Ashley have both been creepily supportive of Thomas, who was arrested in 2018 for sexually assaulting his children’s nanny. Thomas is understandably no longer allowed on Southern Charm , so Ashley is on-hand to replace him as a drama surrogate. She may mean well, but Landon has a habit of defending people in the most tone-deaf way possible. She shockingly dismissed the sexual assault allegations aimed at Thomas to Us Weekly , saying, “I know in my heart that Thomas is a good person.” “Whatever happened, happened,” she said, adding, “I wasn’t there that night.” These remarks are textbook examples of rape culture, and illustrate a tragically common failure of some women to support one another in the face of abuse. That said, it’s encouraging to see Landon come to Ashley’s defense here in this moment of social media sisterhood. Unfortunately for Landon, some fans weren’t willing to forget how Ashley had treated the other women on the show. “She called Kathryn an egg donor,” one user recalled, referencing a previous fight between Ashley and Kathryn. “Any mother would understand how vile and vicious those words are,” the commentor added. But Landon soon responded in defense of those “vile” words. “I think she meant her behavior reduced her to simply an egg donor when those words were said,” Landon recalled about the remarks, as though that changes their meaning. “Ashley was indeed spending more time with [Kathryn’s] kids than her,” Landon explained, adding “It’s all just so sad.” Being loyal to your friends is a great quality. Standing up for friends when others are calling them out is often a great quality too. But it’s important to be able to see past that loyalty and tell your loved ones that what they did was wrong. The music industry vet usually stays pretty low key, but as of late, he’s been a little more publicly vocal than usual. Earlier this week, JD chatted with People Now and dished on his feelings about the current state of female hip hop. “I feel like they’re all rapping about the same thing. I don’t think they’re showing us who’s the best rapper. For me, it’s, like, strippers rapping. At some point, somebody is going to have to break out of that mold.” Boy oh boy, did that strike a nerve. Many people assumed that JD was talking about Cardi B when he made the comment, and apparently so did she. The stripper turned rapper went off on Dupri during an Instagram Live session on Thursday. “First of all, I rap about my p— because she’s my best friend and second of all it’s because it seems like that’s what people want to hear. When I did ‘Be Careful‘ people was talking mad s— in the beginning like ‘What the f— is this?’ ‘This is not what I was expecting” She went on to name a slew of female emcees that don’t rap about “vajayjays” and stripping. “I feel we need to put these girls in more magazines and blogs. Radio DJs play these girls. Even casual fans of Eminem’s music are familiar with the intense domestic drama that’s defined much of the rapper’s life. Following a tumultuous childhood characterized by neglect and abuse, Em — whose real name is Marshall Mathers — entered a famously unhealthy marriage with Kim Scott. Marshall and Kim weren’t married for long, but their relationship had an indelible impact on the hip hop legend’s life. Not only did the former couple have a daughter together, Mathers adopted Kim’s niece, Alaina, as well as her daughter Whitney from another relationship. As one of the wealthiest recording artists on the planet, Em was able to provide a better life for Kim’s niece and daughter. But he was not able to insulate them entirely from the challenges presented by their unstable families. According to a report published Friday by Radar Online, Whitney’s father, Eric Hartter, has been sentenced to several months in prison on drug charges. The decision was handed down while Hartter was already behind bars on unrelated charges. Back in December, the 40-year-old was arrested for allegedly stealing about $200 worth of Red Bull from a CVS store. While serving time for that crime, Hartter was arrested a second time for possession of felony contraband, including Fentanyl and methamphetamine. This week, the judge in Hartter’s case sentenced him to 153 days in jail. Hartter was credited for time served following his previous arrest, but he must still serve at least two months behind bars. While he has never been one of Whitney’s primary caretakers, insiders say Hartter has maintained a relationship with his daughter, who is said to be devastated by her father’s never-ending legal issues. No one with ties to Whitney or Eminem has commented publicly on the case. News of Hartter’s sentence comes just weeks after another tragic development in the Mathers family. Eminem’s father, Marshall Bruce Mathers passed away after suffering a massive heart attack last month. The younger Mathers was not on speaking terms of his father at the time of his death, It appears that Eminem is doing his best to reverse the trend of absentee father figures within his extended family. Despite the fact that these commenters probably don’t have six packs themselves, everyone else on the internet quickly realized how absolutely insane these criticisms were, and fans quickly came to Jason’s defense. The moral of the story here: literally ANYONE can be body shamed, even people who probably work out more than 300 days a year and have bodies that look like they were sculpted by God himself. The internet sure is a fun place, isn’t it? Hopefully Jason Momoa isn’t taking any of these comments to heart because, let’s face it, he’ll probably have a six pack again the second he does 3 or 4 sit-ups–and the rest of us…..won’t.

Instagram used to have really aggressive nudity clauses that I guess they have relaxed on knowing that nudity isn’t that big of a deal. I guess they were sensitive to nudity because they are a publicly traded company with people to answer to. I guess they didn’t want the site to be straight up porn, because anything uncensored on the internet always turns into straight up porn…. But then the people spoke, the titty activists who started being mad about nipples or breast feeding pics being deleted. They felt if it was their body, it was their right, and if it was their free profile it was their right, and eventually facebook loosed the noose it had on people…and started letting some nudity slip… It was like if all people, even celebs, just want to post nude selfies all day, we kinda need to let them….and then if all girls want to do the same, to be like their celeb mentors and idols, we kinda need to let them…. And that has evolved to pics of naked girls looking at their bush in a mirror… Safe for instagram, but porno to advertisers anywhere else you post it…..weird.
