Mother of 5 Stands Up to Bullies, Posts Photo of Stretch Marks on Facebook

Remember Carleigh O’Connell? The 14-year old who responded to bullying by her classmates by posing for a Facebook photo alongside the insulting piece of graffiti left for her by said classmates? Now it’s time to meet Tanis Jex-Blake – and to be equally inspired. This mother of five was suntanning at Alberta Beach in Edmonton on Tuesday, wearing a two-piece for the first time since giving birth to her first child in 2001. While trying to relax, she overheard people referring to her as “nasty” and “disgusting” and then opened her eyes to see two men and one woman pointing at her stretch mark-filled stomach. Jex-Blake says she quickly left, broke down in the car ride home, but then decided to stand up for herself on Facebook. “I’m sorry if my first attempt at sun tanning in a bikini in public in 13 years ‘grossed you out’. I’m sorry that my stomach isn’t flat and tight. I’m sorry that my belly is covered in stretch marks,” she wrote alongside the photos above. Added Tanis: “I’m NOT sorry that my body has housed, grown, protected, birthed and nurtured FIVE fabulous, healthy, intelligent and wonderful human beings. I’m sorry if my 33 year old, 125 lb body offended you so much that you felt that pointing, laughing, and pretending to kick me.” The 33-year old says she didn’t know how folks would respond to her post, but concluded: “I’ll have you know that as I looked at your ‘perfect’ young bodies, I could only think to myself ‘what great and amazing feat has YOUR body done?’. I’ll also have you know that I held my head high, unflinching as you mocked me, pretending that what you said and did had no effect on me; but I cried in the car on the drive home. “I can only hope that one day you’ll realize that my battle scars are something to be proud of, not ashamed of.” A local radio station shared Jex-Blake’s pictures and story online and she has been shocked/flattered by the outcry of support she’s received. Wrote one man, for example: “My wife has four kids… and we call her stretch marks ‘love stories’. It’s beautiful! Real men appreciate those stretch marks.” Let’s hope the lame, fake men out there take note and change their attitude. 11 Signs You’re a Parent 1. Potty Time What is it about going to the bathroom that acts as a Bat Signal for children, alarming them to your whereabouts and begging them to be your audience whilst you do your business?

Jenelle Evans, Nathan Griffith Get Matching Tattoos, Totally Won’t Regret That

Maligned Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans and her recently arrested boyfriend of a few months, Nathan Griffith, got matching tattoos this week. We have no response either. The reality star recently got yet another tattoo, this one in honor of her 27-year-old boyfriend, and he got the same one. It’s actually both of their names. The tatt is an ambigram that reads “Jenelle” one way and “Nathan” the other way. Pretty deep stuff, and totally not weird after they break up in October. “Jenelle really has fallen so hard for Nathan and he feels the same way about her,” a source said. “She was totally excited the day she got the tattoo “She’s ready for everyone to see how much she loves him.” Nathan isn’t the only one who’s been inked in her honor. Jenelle Evans’ husband Courtland Rogers (yes, they’re still married) had her name tattooed on his chest only to get it covered up after their ugly breakup. Here’s hoping Nathan’s “Jenelle” tattoo won’t be something he has to have lasered off in a few weeks, though based on Griffith’s DUI arrest , they’re doing well. He was pulled over by the police initially because he was serving all over the road, in a huge hurry to get home, and get it in, with Jenelle Evans . Dads Premiere: The Most Racist Thing Ever?

Dads premiered tonight on Fox and this is the best thing you can say about the Seth MacFarlane-produced sitcom: It depicts equal opportunity racism! Well, mostly. The series has come under fire (yes, already) for dressing a lead Asian character up as a school girl in order to impress investors and for having a character scream out: “The Chinese are a lovely and honorable people, but you can’t trust them! There’s a reason Shanghai is a verb!” There’s also a quip about Asian men having small penises. So it does go pretty hard after one ethnic group in particular. But, hey, there’s also a joke about Latina women being maids! The cast of Dads is actually decent, with Giovanni Ribisi and Seth Green portraying the children of Martin Mull and Peter Riegert, but that only raises another question about the new comedy: Just how much were these actors paid to star in this insulting nonsense?!? Overall, Dads make 2 Broke Girls look clean and Emmy worthy. It’s hard (and depressing) to imagine it lasting more than two episodes. But that’s just our opinion! What is yours? What Is Wrong With This Picture: Bloomberg Businessweek Magazine Cover Depicts Blacks & Latinos As Big-Lipped, Money Hungry Hoodrats

Bloomberg Businessweek Under Fire For Depiction Of Minorities Bloomberg Businessweek magazine has just taken things a little too far with their caricature depictions of minorities on the cover of their latest issue. In addition to the insulting illustration of minorities on the cover, even more shady is the fact that they used only blacks and Latinos as the face of a story on sub-prime borrowing and predatory lending, which clearly implies that minorities were primarily responsible for taking out loans that they could not afford to pay off……which eventually began the 2007 housing crisis that sparked the recent U.S. recession. via NBC News Bloomberg Businessweek has sparked a torrent of criticism after its cover depicted exaggerated cartoon versions of Latinos and blacks greedily grabbing for money for a story about a housing rebound across the country. “Oh wow, oh wow, that is very offensive,” said Aracely Panemeno, the director of Latino affairs for the Center for Responsible Lending, as she first opened up a photo of the cover on her computer. “It is highly offensive and inaccurate with an intent to promote and perpetuate the myth that communities of color were undeserving of the credit and housing they received and are to blame for the housing crisis, when in reality the opposite is true. They were targeted with predatory loans.” Representatvies for the magazine later apologized for the over, but the damage is obviously already done. Bloomberg Businessweek tells NBC Latino it regrets the cover, dated February 25. “Our cover illustration last week got strong reactions, which we regret,” said editor, Josh Tyrangiel in a statement. “Our intention was not to incite or offend. If we had to do it over again we’d do it differently.” SMH. You would think publications like this one would know better……but of course, they don’t.

Rush Limbaugh Actually Apologizes to Sandra Fluke

Now we know what it takes to make Rush Limbaugh issue an apology: money. Or a lackthereof. Facing the loss of sponsors following his referral to Sandra Fluke – a Georgetown student who tearfully explained to the press last week why health insurance companies should cover the cost of contraception – as a slut , the radio host actually took to his website yesterday and wrote the following: “For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke. I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit? In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone’s bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level. My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.” Is Limbaugh still wildly off base? Of course. Fluke is pushing for health insurance companies to cover birth control, not American citizens. And her argument is based around non “social activities,” specifically the case of how contraception can assist with medical conditions such as ovarian cysts. And why doesn’t Rush create a similar stir over health insurance companies covering Viagra? Still… the guy apologized. That’s amazing. Sadly, this also means the Mayans were correct: the world is clearly about to end.
