WATCH: New ‘Evil Dead’ Video Is A Real Scream − Warns: ‘You’re All Going To Die Tonight’

Evil Dead hits theaters in less than two weeks, and the debate in my head grows louder:  Should I bring the airsickness bag I brought home from my last plane flight, or will a gallon-sized Ziploc baggie do?   As I wrote earlier, Fede Alvarez’s intense, serious-as-a-heart attack remake of Sam Raimi’s  humorous horror classic, The Evil Dead ,  is looking pretty review proof, but I’ve got to wonder if reports of the movie’s extreme gore and the intensity of the trailers that are being released will give more squeamish horror fans second thoughts about attending, especially since the update doesn’t share the comic relief of the original. Here’s the latest clip to surface via Yahoo!  Everyone looks pretty freaked at what’s going on in that little cabin, and that’s before Mia ( Jane Levy ) shoots her brother David ( Shiloh Fernandez ) and lets out an operatic scream that comes with its own Auto-Tune translation.  Also, there are two new posters for the movie. Actually, they’re variants that feature the same image, but one features review blurbs and one does not. Don’t you just love it when review-proof movies show off their good reviews? Jeremy Renner: I’m Not Effin Gay!

There are multiple ways to handle rumors of homosexuality if you’re an actor. You can laugh them off and practically encourage them; aka The George Clooney Treatment . Or you can blow your effin top that anyone brings up that effin rumor because it isn’t effin true! Right, Jeremy Renner? “I want my personal life to be personal, and it’s not f-cking true,” Renner tells the latest issue of The Hollywood Reporter , regarding talk of his sexuality. “And I don’t care if you’re talking about things that are true, you’re still talking about my personal life. How about I go peek in your window, take what underwear you wore last night, whose husband you were f-cking, and shove that in the megaphone throughout your neighborhood? How does that feel?” Ummm… bad? It would probably feel very, very bad. Renner, of course, will bring this intensity to a rebooted movie franchise this summer. He’s taking over for Matt Damon in The Bourne Legacy .

The Fray Goes Emo for The National Anthem: Fun or Total Fail?

The University of Kentucky brought home its eighth national title last night, defeating the University of Kansas 67-59 and concluding one of the most impressive seasons in NCAA Men’s Basketball history in winning fashion. Prior to tip-off, though, viewers weren’t discussing the length of Anthony Davis or the intensity of Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. They were reacting to The Fray’s rendition of the national anthem and wondering: what the heck was that?!? Or maybe that was just us. Listen now to an arrangement that includes two guitars, a marching snare drum and a tambourine and then react to it: The Fray National Anthem What did you think?

‘Star Trek’ Star Chris Pine ‘Grateful’ For Benedict Cumberbatch

‘Benedict has got this intensity about him,’ actor tells MTV News about new ‘Trek’ villain. By Kara Warner Chris Pine Photo: Dominique Charriau/WireImage Given the overwhelming success of J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek,” much ado has been made over the sequel, which started production not too long ago. One of the more interesting stories to come out of the flurry of activity surrounding the new film is the casting of rising star Benedict Cumberbatch as the chief villain . The very busy actor could only express his excitement about the project when MTV News caught up with him at the Golden Globes, but co-star Chris Pine had a little bit more to offer about Cumberbatch’s contributions to the film thus far. “Benedict is fantastic. He’s just so good,” Pine told MTV about his scenes with the British actor at the premiere of “This Means War.” “He’s super talented, and we are more than grateful to have him onboard.” When asked about the tone of his scenes with the “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” and “War Horse” actor, Pine gushed about his co-star’s acting skills. “Benedict has got this intensity about him, and he’s obviously extremely intelligent and articulate. His vocal quality is something else. He obviously is, unlike many of us, like, an actually trained actor,” Pine added with a laugh. “He actually studied for it.” So what are we going to love about Cumberbatch’s performance? And will it be love/hate, since he’s playing a mysterious villain? “[You’ll love] everything. He’s really talented,” Pine said. “I think it’s all going to be love — a mad amount of love.” Another “Star Trek 2” actor, Alice Eve, was just as excited about Cumberbatch joining the team, having worked with him previously on “Starter for 10.” “I’m very excited to work with him again. He’s so very funny, Ben,” she said. “I don’t know if you remember his character in ‘Starter for 10,’ but he was so funny. Like King of the Geeks, but he did it so well, and I found a lot of that hard to get through because he was so funny. I like him very much.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Star Trek 2.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

David Schwimmer Hopes Parents Take Kids To R-Rated ‘Trust’

‘The difficult scenes are all implied,’ director tells MTV News. By Kara Warner David Schwimmer Photo: MTV News In this current day and age dominated by all things digital, and the speed with which people are able to quickly connect to one another via the Internet, smart phones, iPads, WiFi, etc., the importance of educating our youth about the dangers of communicating with strangers online is at an all-time high. In the new film “Trust,” directed and produced by David Schwimmer, starring Clive Owen, Catherine Keener and newcomer Liana Liberato, the issue is tackled head-on, via a story that revolves around a family torn apart after their daughter is victimized and sexually assaulted by a man she meets online. When MTV News caught up with Schwimmer, we asked him whom he most wants to see the film, how he dealt with capturing such a difficult subject matter and the film’s tricky rating. “It’s rated R, which makes it hard for a teenager to go by him or herself, so my hope is that parents do come with their kids,” Schwimmer said. “There’s no violence, there’s no nudity. The difficult scenes are all implied, really. It’s really the subject matter [that garnered the R rating].” Schwimmer went on to say that he didn’t want to compromise the intensity and integrity of the story by lightening the assault scenes or the profanity. “I didn’t want to lose the profanity, because I felt you’d lose credibility,” he said. “When most parents find out that some guy has done this to their kid, they don’t go, ‘Oh darn, oh shucks, how did this happen?’ They swear, and I think it’s more believable and credible. I didn’t want to alter that, and I realize it would make it more challenging for young adults to see it, but I’m hoping that parents bring their kids.” “Trust” opens Friday in New York, L.A., Chicago, Oklahoma City and Columbus, Ohio. Lions Will Forfeit Two Days Of OTAs

We went three years without a single team being penalized for violating OTA rules. This year there are four ( including two today ). The latest are the Detroit Lions, according to NFLPA spokesman George Atallah . NFL, NFLPA Strip The Jaguars One Week Of OTAs For Rules Violations

As many people may not know, OTAs in the NFL are non-contact and there are certain other limitations for the practices such as how long the players can be on the field. In 2007, the Raiders were busted for violating those rules. Three years passed before another team was caught breaking the OTA rules. This year, as the league and the union enter into CBA negotiations, two teams — Raiders and Ravens — have been penalized for violating the rules. Today, the Jaguars make three. “The NFL Management Council and the NFL Players Association have resolved a complaint by the Players Association against the Jacksonville Jaguars concerning violations of the Collective Bargaining Agreement’s offseason workout rules,” the NFL said in a statement to be released Thursday morning. “It was determined that the Jaguars violated the rules concerning the intensity and tempo of drills conducted on the club’s organized team activity days (“OTA days”). “As a result, the Jaguars will forfeit a week of their offseason program (June 21-25, 2010). Jaguars players are not permitted to be at the facility on those days, but will be paid for the sessions. The club cannot reschedule the cancelled days.” The most likely way this goes down is that a player feels the practice is too intense or that the team has violated the spirit of OTAs in some fashion. They would then tell the NFLPA, who would approach it with the league.
