British pop singer Robbie Williams married American actress Ayda Field on Saturday (August 7) at the couple’s California home. Williams’ spokesperson, Murray Chalmers, confirmed the nuptials in a statement. “Robbie Williams and Ayda Field were married yesterday, August 7, in a ceremony held in the grounds of the home they share in Los Angeles,” Chalmers said. People magazine reports that the couple first met in 2006 and swapped vows surrounded by 75 guests. Williams rose to fame in the ’90s as a member of the British boy band Take That. He went on to launch a successful solo career and topped the international pop charts with songs such as “Millennium” and “Rock DJ.” Ayda Field has appeared in TV shows such as “Days of Our Lives” and “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.” Williams recently reunited with his Take That members to record a new album for the first time since he split from the group in 1995. He told BBC News in July that getting back together with his fellow boy-banders was like “coming home.” The singer’s dad said Field is a good fit for Williams, who has struggled with substance abuse throughout his career. “At last, Rob is happy. That’s what you want for your kids and this is the happiest I’ve seen him,” Pete Conway told U.K. newspaper News of the World. “Ayda is so beautiful and so delightful and so lovely and just so right for him. They are brilliant together.” Leave well-wishes for the couple in the comments below! Related Photos Robbie Williams And Ayda Field Related Artists Robbie Williams

Pras Explains Endorsing Wyclef Presidential Rival

‘The reality is we need a real leader … a transformative leader,’ onetime Fugees bandmate tells MTV News. By Jayson Rodriguez Pras Photo: MTV News Wyclef Jean has now formally announced to fanfare that he’ll run for the presidency of Haiti . But for all of the support coming his way, the musician didn’t manage to receive the endorsement of one of his former Fugees groupmembers. Pras has endorsed rival candidate Michel Martelly, telling MTV News on Friday (August 6) that Martelly is better equipped to revive the ravaged country. Pras stressed his appreciation for Wyclef’s efforts to aid Haiti but said he simply thinks his friend would be in over his head. “Basically, I went down to Haiti yesterday to endorse a friend of mine named Michel Martelly. He’s an ex-musician, very, very popular down in Haiti,” Pras explained. “He used to go by the name “Sweet Micky.” “Listen, I love Wyclef to death, he continued. “We came up together, we grew up together, we basically called each other cousins. But the reality is this, we need a real leader. Not just a regular leader, but a transformative leader. Someone that’s gonna be able to galvanize the Haitians down on the field, the Haitian-Americans, the international community, it’s a collective support — to take this country to the 21st century. And I’m just not convinced Wyclef is the one for that.” Pras was particularly effusive in praising Wyclef for bringing global attention to Haiti in the wake of the country’s debilitating earthquake this past January. “But that does not mean he can become the next president of Haiti,” Pras said. ‘Clef formally declared his run for president during an appearance Thursday night on CNN’s “Larry King Live.” “If I can’t take five years out to serve my country as president,” Wyclef said in the interview, “then everything I’ve been singing about, like equal rights, doesn’t mean anything.” He pushed his political neutrality as an asset; Haiti has long been dominated by corrupt government regimes. Pras said he became aware in July that Wyclef had Haiti’s elections on his mind, though he didn’t think his friend would seriously contemplate running himself. Rather, Pras thought Wycelf would endorse his own uncle, who has served in an ambassador post to Haiti, in Washington D.C., in the past. Pras also revealed he hadn’t spoken directly to Wyclef before he made public his endorsement of Martelly. Representatives for Wyclef had not responded to MTV News’ requests for comment at press time. What do you think of Pras endorsing Wyclef’s rival for the Haitian presidency? Let us know in the comments. Related Artists Pras Wyclef Jean

Fat Joe Wants To End 50 Cent Beef With Bathroom Brawl

‘I would love to be in an airport … we go in the men’s room, best man wins, that’s it,’ Joe says on MTV’s ‘RapFix Live.’ By Mawuse Ziegbe Fat Joe Photo: MTV News Fat Joe and 50 Cent have been throwing jabs at each other on records and in the press for more than five years. Even though half a decade has passed since their beef first erupted, it appears that when it comes to the NYC MCs, some things never change. Earlier this week, the ever-combative 50 Cent sent out a viral video crackin’ on the album sales of Joey Crack’s recent release, The Darkside, Vol. 1. When a Fat Joe fan broached the subject via Twitter during the Bronx rapper’s appearance on “RapFix Live” on Friday (August 6), Joe responded that 50’s swipes were way off the mark. “There’s nothing I really believe about 50 Cent,” Joe told MTV News’ Sway. The Terror Squad MC said the 50’s infamous claims about Joe’s lack of influence on the international hip-hop scene were untrue. “When he did that first interview dissing Fat Joe with you [Sway], with the candlelights and all that, he lied,” Joe said. “When he said no one knows Fat Joe in Africa, I saw that interview from Africa and I had 70,000 people out there. There isn’t a country I ain’t touch in Africa. I just came back from South of France, I toured China, Japan, wherever you name, 60,000 people come out to see Fat Joe.” Fat Joe, who has been making noise as a respected MC since the ’90s, said 50 should focus on sustaining a long-term hip-hop career. “I been in the game 16 years. He gotta try having longevity in this game,” Joe said, adding that 50’s once-robust album numbers have fallen off in recent years. “You talk about album sales — he went from selling 10 million albums to not even going gold this last album. So, he lost nine-and-a-half-million fans in four years. I don’t really trip off him,” Joe said. Crack dubbed himself “an ambassador for peace” in hip-hop, a title earned he said as a result of his amicable relationships with many MCs and typically beef-averse approach to making records. 50, on the other hand, goes after anyone who does it big in NYC rap, Joe said. “The latest one he’s going at: Puff Daddy. He has beef with Jadakiss, he has beef with Cam’ron. Anybody we consider dope in New York, he has went at them. There ain’t nobody he ain’t touch,” Joe said. “Fat Joe ain’t out here trying to battle-rap everybody in the world. That’s not what I’m about. What I am is a man, and when you disrespect my family and you disrespect me like that, there’s gotta be answers to the questions.” Joe admitted that while he’s all about keeping the peace, he’s open to deading the years-long drama between him and Fif — with a man-to-man confrontation. “The day 50 Cent want to lock up with me in a bathroom and do this like men, we can hug each other and keep it moving the day after that,” Joe said. The MC later mused, “I would love to be in an airport, we bump into each other, we go in the men’s room, best man wins, that’s it.” Joey also cleared up rumors about some unrelated drama that recently went down in the NYC hip-hop scene. The night before his “RapFix Live” appearance, Joe hit the stage at legendary spinner Funkmaster Flex’s bash at Manhattan’s Webster Hall, where he brought underground MC French Montana onstage. Later, of what appeared to be Harlem’s Jim Jones and his crew throwing ice at French, hit the Web. Hip-hop fans have been rumbling about the footage, which suggests that Jones was taking out his anger toward former Dipset associate Max B on French, who is cool with the jailed rapper. “They was throwing it at each other, be clear on that. Once again, Fat Joe, ambassador for peace in hip-hop. This kid French Montana is killing the streets; all the young boys love him to death. French is like, ‘Yo, Joe, let me come out, introduce me.’ So I introduce him, the crowd is going crazy and then they start throwing stuff at each other. I understand Jimmy’s point of view. French used to be cool with Max B and they disrespected [Jim Jones’] wife and family,” Joe said. “I tried to bring peace towards that but who knows where that’ll go.” Do you think 50 and Fat Joe should bring an end to their beef once and for all? ‘War on drugs’ fuels HIV epidemic as governments ignore science, experts say

Two Vancouver-based groups that do research on HIV-AIDS and drug policy say the war on drugs waged by many governments, including the government of Canada, has failed to curb illegal drug use and is actually fuelling the spread of the disease. “There's just a huge discordance between scientific evidence and policy,” said Dr. Evan Wood, founder of the International Centre for Science in Drug Policy and a researcher at the B.C. Centre for Excellence in HIV-AIDS. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/war-on-drugs-fuels-hiv-epidemic-as-… added by: JackHerer

Kenneth Gladney ‘Black Tea Party Member" Beaten by SEIU for not bing "black enough"

Last week, a black gentleman named Kenneth Gladney went to a town-hall meeting hosted by Rep. Russ Carnahan, Missouri Democrat. While passing out “Don't Tread on Me” flags, he was viciously attacked by Service Employees International Union (SEIU) members. One called him a “nigger.” These union thugs were directed by the White House to go to the protests and “punch back twice as hard.” And they did. While the attack was captured on video and is available on YouTube, Mr. Gladney's horrifying story is absent from MSNBC's 24/7 media cycle. Mr. Krugman has yet to write about it. And Mr. Cooper has yet to condemn the attack. added by: itchywolf

Proof, Blacks Make Better Runners Than Whites. But Whites Are Better Swimmers According to Duke University Study

WASHINGTON (AFP) – Scientists have found the reason why blacks dominate on the running track and whites in the swimming pool: it's in their belly-buttons, a study published Monday shows. What's important is not whether an athlete has an innie or an outie but where his or her navel is in relation to the rest of the body, says the study published in the International Journal of Design and Nature and Ecodynamics. The navel is the center of gravity of the body, and given two runners or swimmers of the same height, one black and one white, “what matters is not total height but the position of the belly-button, or center of gravity,” Duke University professor Andre Bejan, the lead author of the study, told AFP. “It so happens that in the architecture of the human body of West African-origin runners, the center of gravity is significantly higher than in runners of European origin,” which puts them at an advantage in sprints on the track, he said. Individuals of West African-origin have longer legs than European-origin athletes, which means their belly-buttons are three centimeters (1.18 inches) higher than whites', said Bejan. That means the black athletes have a “hidden height” that is three percent greater than whites', which gives them a significant speed advantage on the track. “Locomotion is essentially a continual process of falling forward, and mass that falls from a higher altitude, falls faster,” Bejan explained. In the pool, meanwhile, whites have the advantage because they have longer torsos, making their belly-buttons lower in the general scheme of body architecture. “Swimming is the art of surfing the wave created by the swimmer,” said Bejan. “The swimmer who makes the bigger wave is the faster swimmer, and a longer torso makes a bigger wave. Europeans have a three-percent longer torso than West Africans, which gives them a 1.5-percent speed advantage in the pool,” he said. Asians have the same long torsos as Europeans, giving them the same potential to be record-breakers in the pool. But they often lose out to whites because whites are taller, said Bejan. Many scientists have avoided studying why blacks make better sprinters and whites better swimmers because of what the study calls the “obvious” race angle. But Bejan said the study he conducted with Edward Jones, a professor at Howard University in Washington, and Duke graduate Jordan Charles, focused on the athletes' geographic origins and biology, not race, which the authors of the study call a “social construct.” Bejan is white, originally from Romania, and Jones is black, from South Carolina. They charted and analyzed nearly 100 years of records in men's and women's sprinting and 100-meters freestyle swimming for the study. added by: congoboy
