Eminem’s Recovery Release Date Moved Up One Day

Album will now arrive in stores on June 21, Em confirms in a tweet. By Mawuse Ziegbe Eminem’s Recovery Photo: Interscope Eminem’s hotly anticipated album Recovery is set to land on shelves a day earlier than originally planned. The legendary lyricist’s seventh studio album will now get a June 21 release, according to Em’s label, Interscope, after the album leaked online. Once the full LP hit the Net two weeks ahead of its June 22 street date , many expected the Detroit rapper to move up its official delivery. But initial reports seemed to indicate the June date would stick . On Wednesday, XXLmag.com reported that Interscope rep Dennis Dennehey had confirmed the album would roll out on the originally scheduled Tuesday. Yet just a day later, the label issued a press release announcing a new drop date. Eminem has since confirmed the news, tweeting on Monday (June 14): “It’s true. RECOVERY goes on-sale Monday, 6/21 now.” Steve Berman, vice-chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M, said the public’s hunger for the hip-hop icon’s latest effort had fueled the date change. “We believe fans want to support their favorite artists by purchasing the real album and not a leaked version,” Berman said in the press release. “At the same time, we realize speed is of the essence when fans are so passionate about wanting to hear new songs from such an enormously popular artist like Eminem.” Berman also noted that for devoted fans, adjusting the set’s availability by 24 hours was significant. “Even by releasing Recovery only a day earlier than previously announced, it makes a difference to those fans.” The Recovery leak came only a few days after Em premiered the dramatic video for his single “Not Afraid.” For his latest set, Marshall Mathers reached beyond his Shady family , teaming with stars like Rihanna, Pink and Lil Wayne. The album also features production from new collaborators like Jim Jonsin, Just Blaze and DJ Khalil. Are you satisfied that Em’s album will drop a day earlier? Should the label release it sooner? Eminem Keeping June 22 Recovery Release Date, Despite Leak

MC has often moved up release dates after album leaks in the past. By Jayson Rodriguez Eminem’s Recovery album Photo: Interscope Eminem changed the rules regarding album’s traditional Tuesday releases in the past, when the MC would push up the date by weeks after his projects were bootlegged or leaked online. Now, with his forthcoming Recovery set having hit the Web two weeks early , the rapper has reportedly decided to keep the same June 22 release date. According to XXLmag.com , a representative for Em confirmed the date would stay the same despite the album being available illegally. An Interscope Records spokesperson was unavailable at press time when contacted by MTV News. Recovery arrived online and via blogs earlier this week, following the lead single “Not Afraid” and the Pink-assisted “Won’t Back Down” . The first video from the project, “Not Afraid,” premiered Sunday and departs from the rapper’s usual satirical efforts. Last month, Eminem revealed the tracklisting for Recovery, and the rapper chose to work with Lil Wayne, Pink, and Rihanna for the project. In the past, he’s kept his circle of collaborators short, mostly limited to the Shady/Aftermath camp, including Dr. Dre and 50 Cent. For this collection, however, Eminem chose to work with a bevy of new contributors, such as producers Just Blaze, Jim Johnson, and DJ Khalil. “A lot of good music is being made [by Eminem],” Just Blaze told MTV News in April. “He’s really back spitting. The wordplay is crazy, the metaphors are crazy. He’s really back on his game. He had his ups, he had his downs, he’s back way, way, way up. This is definitely going to be up there with the best of his albums, for sure, for sure. The fact that he’s branched out working with a lot of different people now, collaborating in a lot of different ways that he never has before, I think he’s going to surprise a lot of people.” Are you excited to hear Eminem’s new album? Dr. Dre Announces Jay-Z Collabo, ‘Under Pressure’

Rapper and Interscope head Jimmy Iovine confirm the new track at Boston Red Sox game. By Shaheem Reid Jay-Z and Dr. Dre Photo: Dimitrios Kambouris/ WireImage Could Detox really be around the corner? The long-awaited, almost mythical album by music legend Dr. Dre sounds like it is officially starting up. Last week, E! News correspondent Michael Yo tweeted that Dre and Jay-Z had a new single coming that Interscope was very excited about, and a photo of the two timeless hip-hop kings in the studio surfaced on the Net. Then on Sunday night, during the Red Sox’s opening night at Fenway Park in Boston, Dre confirmed the new song and revealed the title. The Doc and Interscope head Jimmy Iovine participated in a little batting practice, promoted the Sox-themed Beats by Dr. Dre headphones and spoke briefly about the new single, “Under Pressure,” to sports network NESN . When reporter Heidi Watney asked what his at-bat song would be, Iovine responded, “The new song Dre has in his pocket, called ‘Under Pressure.’ It’s a brand new single by Dr. Dre and Jay-Z. That’s the song I would use.” (At press time, a release date for the song had not been announced.) “Absolutely, that would be it,” agreed Dre, who told MTV News back in October Jay had been writing something for Detox. ” ‘Under Pressure.’ It’s so fitting.” When Dre was asked who from the Red Sox he would want to use “Under Pressure” as their at-bat theme, the production great said it wasn’t even a question: David Ortiz. “Absolutely, Big Papi.” And how are Dre’s hitting skills? Doc, who wore a Red Sox jersey with the number “808” on it, told Watney that he would be OK, though he was “a little bit nervous.” “I was cool until I walked on the field,” he said. “Now, it’s a little intimidating. I played a little bit as a kid. But I did go the batting cage a couple of times before today, so I’ll think I’ll be all right.” Are you still eagerly awaiting Dr. Dre’s Detox ?
