According to People Paula Deen’s racial slur scandal is costing her an endorsement deal with Smithfield, the pork company that sold a ham with her name and face on it. “Smithfield condemns the use of offensive and discriminatory language and behavior of any kind,” Smithfield says in a statement. “Therefore, we are terminating our partnership with Paula Deen. Smithfield is determined to be an ethical food industry leader and it is important that our values and those of our spokespeople are properly aligned.” Deen’s deal with Smithfield was announced in September 2006. This is the latest blow to Deen, who was dropped from the Food Network on Friday after 11 years as one of the channel’s biggest stars. The business deals are falling under scrutiny following the uproar over her admitted use of the N-word in the past. Deen made the admission during a sworn deposition in connection with a discrimination lawsuit brought by a former employee who says she was in a hostile work environment filled with innuendo and racial slurs. Deen has apologized for the remarks. “Smithfield was a key deal for her empire,” Allen Salkin, author of the upcoming book From Scratch: Inside the Food Network, tells PEOPLE. “In addition to paying her handsomely as an endorser, the ham company helped her charitable image by delivering truckloads of meat to food banks in her name.” Deen was hit in the head by a Smithfield ham at one of those charity events in 2009. Paula needs to fire her publicity team asap. That video was sad.

Maddy’s mother Cassy Blythe is now livid with Strong Rock Christian School and is trying to get administrators to reconsider. I was told that the reasons behind it were one, that the boys were going to start lusting after her and have impure thoughts about her and that the locker room talk was not appropriate for a female to hear even though she had a separate locker room from the boys,’ Blythe told 11Alive. But things didn’t always seem so unfair. When Maddy first started on the team, she said she felt completely accepted. ‘I was put at defensive tackle, first string, the coaches were really proud. My teammates, a pat on the back every time,’ she said. And she deserved those pats on the back. The young girl was first string for a reason. ‘The first sack I made,’ Maddy said, ‘all the parents in the stands thought it was one of their boys…but they looked at the roster and saw it was me and I got amazing whoops and hollers.’ Then, as quickly as it had been given to her, the gift of getting to play with the boys like she’d always wanted was taken away. ‘It’s like taking my dream and throwing it in the trash,’ she said. Blythe agrees. ‘They let her have that cake,’ Blythe said, ‘and then they took it from her and they smashed it.’ If the girl can play, let her play.
