Somehow, Farrah Abraham has a new boyfriend, and she didn’t meet him at a strip club or on a porn set. Shocking, right? On Wednesday, an Italian court will decide whether to uphold Amanda Knox’s 2009 murder conviction , for which the Washington native was sentenced to 28 years in prison. The 27-year-old Knox was originally found guilty of murdering Meredith Kercher , but the sentence was eventually overturned on appeal. That appeal was later thrown out, and tomorrow, Knox’s co-defendant and former boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, will appear in court to stand trial yet again. Sollecito hopes to convince the court to overturn his 25-year sentence, and sources say that he may attempt to shift the blame to Knox. Sollecito originally provided an alibi for Knox, claiming that the of them were together at his home on the night that Kercher was killed. Now, nearly eight years later, he reportedly plans to retract that story and tell the court that he cannot account for Knox’s whereabouts on the night of the murder. “The defense intends to show that Sollecito has always shown himself to be extraneous to the crime, and that that night he did not move from his own home,” reads a document filed by Sollecito’s attorneys. “However, he cannot rule out that Knox could have gone out.” The defense also emphasizes that Sollecito “had no reason to want the death of Meredith Kercher,” and that “the alleged motives concern only relations between the victim and Amanda Knox, not Sollecito.” Lawyers for Sollecito also intend to remind the court that their client had been dating Knox for less than two weeks at the time of Kercher’s murder. “Raffaele Sollecito was not linked to Amanda Knox from long, deep emotional bonds that could have caused him to give his full adhesion to a criminal act desired by others,” says their latest filing. While Sollecito will be required to attend court tomorrow, Knox remains in Seattle, where she has attempted to move on with her life. Knox got engaged to Colin Sutherland last month, and she currently works in a bookstore and writes theater reviews for the West Seattle Herald. 71-Year-Old Man Arrested 22 Years After Escaping From Prison An elderly man who escaped from prison while still in his 50s got an unpleasant surprise recently when police finally caught up with him 22 years later. via Huffington Post A 71-year-old man convicted on theft charges in 1991 has been arrested 22 years after he broke out of prison. Roger Perdue, who escaped from a correctional facility in Ohio, was recently discovered living with his wife in Kokomo, Indiana, WLWT reports. Authorities with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said that they received a tip regarding the whereabouts of Perdue, who fled his work detail in March of 1992. Via NY Daily News reports: Livia Fortuna cried out for Giuseppe — her dear husband — moments after his death only to succumb to her own broken heart. The Italian pair, Giuseppe and Livia Fortuna, died within one hour of each other after 69 years of marriage after falling in love in Rome. They couldn’t bear to be apart even at the Smith House Health Care Center in Stamford, Connecticut where they lived together until their death Dec. 13 following years of declining health. “That was the end of the love story. She had to follow him,” the couple’s daughter Angela Munzenmair told the Stamford Advocate. The couple had married in Italy before the end of World War II. The first 15 years of their marriage were spent raising their children and running a Tuscan restaurant. She described her parent’s relationship as volatile with petty fighting, but only because they “liked making up so much,” Munzenmair added. Only a week before their death, Livia told her grandson that Giuseppe was dying and she’d be “going with him.” He suffered from dementia and cancer while Livia had chronic obstructive lung disease, according to the Advocate. His death sent the 86-year-old wife into an emotional fit, screaming for her Giuseppe as the nursing staff tried to keep her calm. “They probably couldn’t live without the other,” Munzenmair said. “They are in a good place and don’t have to suffer anymore … they can just be happy.” It’s rare for spouses to die within minutes of each other, psychiatric experts told the Advocate, but it’s possible through extreme depression or by halting medication, the other spouse could essentially die of a so-called broken heart. The Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone is devastating… Sierra Leone Government Cancels Christmas To Prevent Ebola Disease From Spreading The holiday season is sadly looking more and more bleek for the Sierra Leone community via Gawker Sierra Leone will ban all public Christmas and New Year’s celebrations in an effort to curtail further spread of Ebola, Agence France-Presse reports. The government’s Ebola response unit told reporters on Friday that soldiers would be deployed to keep people in their homes. Public gatherings had already been banned, The Guardian reports; these new restrictions are intended to keep people in Freetown, the nation’s capital, where Ebola is rampant, from traveling to see family members elsewhere in the country where the disease may not have yet taken hold. According to a World Health Organization (WHO) report released on Wednesday, Sierra Leone and its neighbors Guinea and Liberia account for all but 15 of a total of 6,388 Ebola-related deaths worlwide (out of a total of 17,942 cases). In the week before December 7, Sierra Leone confirmed 397 new cases—three times its neighbors’ combined total—and in the last three weeks, AFP reports, Sierra Leone reported 1,319 new infections. It’s a day most citizens of the world never thought they’d see. But it’s here and it’s official: George Clooney is a married man!!! The actor exchanged vows today with British fiancee Amal Alamuddin, a lawyer to whom he got engaged in April . The couple arrived in Italy earlier in the week and celebrated the occasion separately on Friday night, enjoying bachelor and bachelorette parties with friends in the area. Clooney and Alamuddin made it official at the Aman Canal Grande luxury resort in Venice earlier today. Celebrity guests included Bono, Matt Damon, and Bill Murray. George and Amal began dating in October and – needless to say – things moved quickly. Earlier this month Clooney went public with wedding plans and confirmed that he and Alamuddin would tie the know in Italy before the end of September. The lengthy list of Clooney’s ex-girlfriends has received almost as much attention as his acting career over the years, and the playboy screen idol has publicly sworn off marriage on multiple occasions. Clooney was previously married to actress Talia Balsam in the early ’90s, and he rarely talks about the shortlived union in interviews.
