Christian rockers Casting Crowns, R&B singer Joe debut in top 10. By Gil Kaufman Adele Photo: Jon Furniss/ WireImage She may be on vocal rest , but Adele has something to shout about this week, as her unstoppable 21 will once again retake the #1 spot on the Billboard 200. According to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan, despite a 5 percent drop in sales last week, the album sold nearly 106,000 copies, helping the British crooner pass the four million mark while never dropping below the #3 spot and notching 13 non-consecutive weeks at #1. Christian rockers Casting Crowns are just behind at #2 with their latest, Come to the Well, which moved 99,000 copies. It is one of only two debuts in the top 10, which also includes R&B singer Joe ‘s The Good, the Bad, the Sexy (#8, 33,000). The rest of the top 10 is filled with albums that suffered double-digit sales losses: Scotty McCreery , Clear as Day (#3, 57,000, down 36 percent); Evanescence (#4, 40,000, down 69 percent); Tony Bennett , Duets II (#5, 39,000, down 29 percent); Lil Wayne , Tha Carter IV (#6, 35,000, down 22 percent); Lady Antebellum , Own the Night (#7, 34,000, down 27 percent), Five Finger Death Punch , American Capitalist (#9, 29,000, down 68 percent) and Lauren Alaina , Wildflower (#10, 26,000, down 63 percent). The next-highest debut is by veteran alt rockers Jane’s Addiction , whose fourth album, The Great Escape Artist, lands at #12 after moving nearly 24,000 units. Close behind is French electronica act M83 , whose Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming hits #15 (21,000), and much further down the list, former Fall Out Boy singer Patrick Stump slips into the top 50 at 47 with his solo debut, Soul Punk (9,000). On the iTunes albums chart the pre-release sales for Coldplay ‘s Mylo Xyloto helped catapult that band to #1, ahead of Adele, Casting Crowns, the “Footloose” reboot soundtrack, Evanescence, M83, Foster the People ‘s Torches , Jane’s Addiction, the second album from the Tool side project Puscifer and Lil Wayne. The singles tally is topped by Rihanna ‘s ” We Found Love,” which beat out LMFAO ‘s “Sexy and I Know It,” Drake ‘s “Make Me Proud,” Adele’s “Someone Like You” and Justin Bieber ‘s “Mistletoe.” Foster the People are at #5 with “Pumped up Kicks,” ahead of Maroon 5 ‘s “Moves Like Jagger,” David Guetta ‘s “Without You,” Gym Class Heroes ‘ “Stereo Hearts” and Coldplay’s “Paradise.” Adele will likely have to chill a bit next week when new albums from Kelly Clarkson , Coldplay, Toby Keith and Vince Gill hit the charts. Pop star photographed filming the clip in a cornfield in Northern Ireland. By James Dinh Rihanna shoots her video for “We Found Love” in Northern Ireland Photo: Photopress Belfast/Splash News Rihanna is showing no signs of stopping. No, seriously. Only days after the release of her new single “We Found Love,” the pop megastar has already started filming a video for the sparkly dance track. Donning an extremely long safety-pinned shirt, bandana bikini and jeans, the 23-year-old singer was snapped smoking and looking contemplative in a cornfield in Northern Ireland. According to BBC News , hundreds of spectators took to nearby roads to catch a glimpse of the pop star during the video shoot. Rihanna took to Bangor in Northern Ireland for the video shoot just days before she’s set to perform three concerts in Belfast later this week. The jet-setting pop star’s last performance was in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, over the weekend. The Rihanna Navy was tipped off about the pop singer’s video shoot Sunday when she took to Twitter . “Im shootin a video in 2 #beatDAT,” she wrote, in response to a fan complaining about a lack of sleep. “We Found Love” is Rih’s lead single from her next album, dropping November 21. Produced by dance mastermind Calvin Harris, the tune was released last week via the singer’s Facebook page and has rocketed to the #3 spot on the iTunes singles chart. In the “We Found Love” single art , Rihanna sports a retro, TLC-inspired outfit. What do you think of Rihanna’s “We Found Love” video look? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Rihanna
You would think that it was Pippa Middleton – not her sister Kate – who walked down the aisle with Prince William this summer judging from the way the media has honed in on her. But what’s even odder than the supplanting of her in the tabloids instead of her future queen sister is the fascination with her butt. This butt: Ma’am and/or sir, why is this a thing of wonder? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not throwing shade. Pippa is an attractive and shapely woman (very slim, but with a nice frame). But she isn’t carrying anything in her ‘backyard’ that is such a wonder to behold. Why is there such a fascination with non-Black women who have butts? Back when we were the only ones known for having large bottoms, they were the worst thing ever. But in the past ten years, it seems like everyone wants to be bootylicious. And women like Pippa are being held up as some sort of gold standard when her butt is more worthy of a participant ribbon. To paraphrase Paul Mooney, “everybody wanna be a Negro, but don’t nobody want to be a Negro.” However, considering the fact that Pippa’s butt is more on the flat side than the J.Los and Kim Kardashians of the world, perhaps praising her behind is a shift away from the big booty obsession. Is the Pippa-pimping a return to the rejection of the more voluptuous (and typically considered to be “ethnic”) body type? I think that’s a more than likely possibility. Our “royals” are a family of Black folks from the South Side of Chicago. And even though President Obama has a unique pedigree, the woman by his side is an undeniably Colored one. Brown skin, Black girl hair, big booty. For all those who have celebrated the victory-in-diversity that is an Obama White House, there are folks who want to get that ‘old thing’ back. And Pippa is undeniably uncolored. Hmm…am I just a conspiracy theorist, or do you see the connection here? ‘Mad Men’ star Jared Harris reveals how he’ll live up to Professor Moriarty’s rep in ‘A Game of Shadows.’ By Josh Wigler Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. in “Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows” Photo: Daniel Smith Every coin has two sides, every number an opposite. In the case of Sherlock Holmes, his other half is Professor Moriarty, the shadowy criminal mastermind who serves as the greatest threat to the world’s greatest detective — quite a feat, really, considering that the character directly appeared in only two of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s original stories. Click for exclusive photos from Fall’s biggest flicks. But Moriarty is stepping out of the darkness and into the light when “Mad Men” actor Jared Harris fills out his villainous shoes, playing opposite Robert Downey Jr.’s Holmes in “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,” which arrives in theaters this holiday season. As MTV News’ Fall Movie Preview continues, we spoke with Harris about what goes into portraying such an iconic (if often unseen) villain, and all the red herrings and moral ambiguity that come with the package. MTV : Professor Moriarty is a character with great history in the “Sherlock Holmes” universe and beyond. What kind of research and preparation went into getting into the spirit of the character? Jared Harris : Well, I tried to hatch some worldwide domination plots. [ Laughs ] What’s interesting is that when he appears in the Sherlock Holmes books, he doesn’t appear very much; he’s talked about, but you don’t see him very often. I thought a little bit about previous incarnations of him. But there were two things that were tricky about this: that convention of who that character was in the Sherlock Holmes stories, this sort of arch nemesis/supervillain. It’s been borrowed so often that you can’t just go back and do it the way it was, because it seems like a clich
